    I took this one step further and while the toilet paper was wet, I added a few drops of coloured ink and then embossed it. I got some stunning results! I also used some Ken Oliver Coulour Burst powders. It was a bit messy (but oh so much fun!) and you need to remember that when you emboss the paper, that the ink will somewhat run out of the open end of the embossing folder. I had some wet cloths ready so I could quickly wipe away any mess. SO much fun! Thanks for sharing this idea!

    SO fun! I just did something similar to this the other day with napkins and made little pointsettias and leaves and colored them. We dry cut them and then colored them with watercolors. The paper puffed up when it got wet and made everything 3-D. So pretty! TFS the inspiration and creativity!

    Excellent presentation of a unique idea! I’m eager to adapt the technique for making texture sheets to use with Gelli printing. Although I don’t have the roll -through machine, I’ll try a rolling pin & steady pressure. After the sheet dries, I’ll apply a light coat of gel medium to both sides & dry before using. Fingers crossed! I appreciate the up close camera work, good lighting & closed captions! Thanks again!

    There's a brand of tp that has wavy line design. I layered 3-4 pieces together & die cut 3 1/2 " hearts. ( I cut them so that the wavy lines were diagonal on the hearts.) Love how they turned out. I did not spray with water, but will try that next time.

    • @scrapbookingstation

      When you spray and take it through an embossing folder - or embossing plate for that matter, you'll lose whatever pattern is in the toilet paper - just so you know! Glad you gave tp a try.

      Ooh laa laaa!!! My sh%t smells like roses, and deserves only the finest & fanciest toilet paper there is... fit only for the likes of royalty!! It's beautifully embossed for the most elegant & luxurious "commodal" experience... while also textured to provide *_just_* the right amount of "grab", ensuring the most thoroughly cleansing wipe that guarantees to leave nothing behind but the feeling of your tush being gently caressed by soft, satiny clouds!!... lol
      (There you go!! You can be the first to make it, market it, and trademark it as your own... you've even got the marketing schpiel now to run with it and make millions from it!! Royale and their cute, fluffy kitties ain't got nuthin' on you and your high-end, luxury TP, I tell ya!!! lol :D )

    Not exactly archival quality, but wow, such a cool & fun idea!... thanks so much for sharing this! Now it's got me thinking of all sorts of different ideas to try that'd never occurred to me before!
    For eg. I'd be curious to try adding a bit of white glue to the water spray... so that it's quite diluted... but just enough to give it some more strength & sturdiness in the end result... perhaps even allowing it to be molded around a form (like a bottle or jar) while still damp... sort of like a spin-off of paper maché, in a sense! Of course then it wouldn't have the same soft feeling that you like so much... but it could maybe open up a whole different world of possibilities perhaps...(??)
    Either way it'll be so much fun to experiment... especially since everyone has toilet paper anyways!! (it's just too bad that tp isn't so cheap to play with... at least not up here in Canada, anyways... I mean, it's not like it grows on trees, after all... lol)! ;)

    • @scrapbookingstation
      @scrapbookingstation  6 років тому

      It depends on the quality of your dinner napkin. Also, there is a lot of leeway - fewer layers and you end up with a 'thinner' piece - more layers, thicker. more layers - I'd spritz a bit more to make sure you've enough water. Fun to play and after all, it's just a dinner napkin!

    • @scrapbookingstation
      @scrapbookingstation  6 років тому

      sure a shimmer mist will work also BUT, I'd be sure that it's a shimmer that will dry to the touch (lots of shimmers don't 'seal' ). Be prepared for your embossing folder to share the shimmer, as it's tough to get the shimmer off the folder. I'd be more inclined to water your way through embossing and shimmer after.

      not yet, Lori. I've found something that 'supposedly' will deepen the impressions when dry embossing - waiting for it to arrive, because the rub with inking raised images is not getting the ink where you don't want it. stay tuned and thanks!

    Has anyone tried to use it for decoupage? I can’t seem to find the pattern I like. Thought of making my own.

      I've not thought of that, Sherry - but I expect that if you were to be on the high side on the number of tp layers that it would be stiff enough to create your decoupage pieces. excellent crafty experiment. Keep us posted if you give it a go!

    Can you seal it?

      not sure what you're getting at, but sure - w/ acrylic spray sealer, mod-podge or whatever you typically seal your paper with.

      they end up quite sturdy, Lesha. if you give it a go, my favorite characteristic is how soft they are to the touch.

    Too bad I don't have Big Shot or embossing folder. But I do have a Silhouette Curio.
