UA-cam, how can i give this a thousand likes?! this is just amazing especially for someone like me who is just starting with wedding events! keep it up and thank you!!!
You are so clear and concise with your advice! This was GOLD! I love how you show BTS as well to apply these examples to real life scenarios! Subscribed!
This is GOOD stuff!!! Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve been doing this already but didn’t know it…lol I guess because I talk a lot!!! Lol Power Praise and Precision, I love it!!!
I’ve invested in a lot of courses specific to wedding photography but none of my investments have compared to what I’ve received from you. And this video alone has given so much value to my business. Because you’re authenticity is through the roof! Love it!
I started wedding photography in the last year and this video was SO helpful. Thank you so much for this. Created a youtube account just so that i could subscribe!
Katelyn, you really are such a sweetheart and phenomenal photographer! I’ve watched many. And, I’ve known many. You. Really stand tall. Sending my luv -
Katelyn, you're such an inspiration! I do primarily pet and family photography and all of your tips are so actionable for me as well. Thank-you for sharing your amazing advice!!!
Speaking from experience, this is great advice. I have seen many wedding photographers doing the exact opposite of Katelyn's 3 P's and the shoot or wedding day go so wrong.
Confidence comes from experience. Like I've seen nervous photographers... it comes down to experience. The amount of weddings under your belt will grow your confidence. Every wedding teaches you something to carry onto the next.
Love the praise tactic, but I do have a question... I know for me personally I want my photographer to say, hey your hair is a mess, or help me fix it. I was so disappointed in a session I had done simply because my hair looked horrible but it was a fixable thing. So how can you approach THAT with clients?
That's so hard because sometimes we don't always know what the client considers a "mess" compared to what we do. One time I asked a client if she wanted to fix her part and she looked at me and said, "that's how I always wear it". I was so embarrassed! Lol. Now I bring a compact mirror and before each shoot, I ask each client to check their teeth (for food or lipstick) and do any last minute touch ups they would like before we begin.
I always say something like “oh let me do a little hair fluff for you!!” And try to keep even the negative stuff positive because I dont want her to feel self conscious. I’ll also say “this is so normal! I’m constantly fluffing and fixing hair for clients!”
Katelyn I love you and everything you are, But... I feel a little used when you publicly share information that was originally part of a course I payed a lot of money for. :(
Hi Morgan! Thanks for the feedback. I think it's important to know that this content was blogged YEARS ago... long before it was ever a small part of the KJ Posing Course. I've shared content for free since 2008 and we love being able to give small glimpses into our courses for students who are desperate to learn but cannot afford a large scale course like you purchased. This 18min video doesn't come close to comparing to the 8+ hours of training and 19 lessons that you received. If you have further questions about how we educate for free for those that can't afford higher-end education, feel free to email me! katelyn@katelynjames.com
Your videos are more valuable than workshops that cost 1,000's. You've helped me so much. Thanks.
You can apply these tips to raising kids! LOL! love it

Thank you so much!!
I am shooting boudoir, but same as you said, this video totally supplies tactics to be applied. Shoots will be so much more fun and relaxed!
Yesterday I had a shoot with a couple and I kept freezing up/feeling awkward. This is helped me so much and now I’m cringing about yesterday lol.
Speaking from experience, this is great advice. I have seen many wedding photographers doing the exact opposite of Katelyn's 3 P's and the shoot or wedding day go so wrong.
Thanks for watching!
Would you share your list of compliments/silence fillers?
I should do a video on this!
I remember my wedding photographer...... a terrible experience! Wish he learn from you 😅

so true!!
Katelyn: Don't repeat praises like 'perfect' that often.
Also Katelyn: 13:21

If your lips aren't moving, your subjects are doubting everything!
Totally agree!! Stay in control!
