    Just as a tip with LEDs. I’m America, LEDs flicker at 60hz so you want to use a shutter speed of 60 or a multiple of that. Everywhere else in the world I think is 50hz.

    I think your content and points are great. I only really dislike point 8: going black and white when mixed light occurs. I get, you fix it. But not really. There is ways to actually fix it. In post you can do a lot, especially with the latest LR masking updates. But also, using flash and modifying the scene.

    Thanks so much!! you are such an amazing photographer and someone to look up. thanks for all the time and info you share. The last thing you said, "this is kind of a dream job, just reflect on the day..... have the sister's wedding... ". I actually did a wedding last year and 3 of the bridesmaids were recently engaged, all three of them contacted me and two booked me. The third bridesmaid was interested on a date I was already booked for. I could not believe it!! all three! and one of the guest bought a family gift certificate!! They all commented on the experience they had. Most definitely one of the most important points you mentioned. :)

    Thanks for all the great info. Ive been a video guy for a long time and have shot weddings before (mostly video, but some photos) but have been away from it for some time. Just had a friend ask me if I wanted to shoot their destination wedding and I'm doing it. All expectations have been set. So pretty excited. Anyways been watching your videos like crazy for the past few days. The wedding is a year away so have lots of time to practice shooting. The only lens that I think I'm lacking is the 70-200m 2.8. But since its a destination wedding with only about 30 people in attendance I don't think ill need the reach. Ill have a 16-35mm, 24-70 and an 85 prime. Maybe this will spark a new passion. Thanks again for all the great videos. Very informative. Used to live in Ottawa so would have been cool to take a day to actually watch you shoot!

      For destination you won’t need a 70-200. I don’t think I’ve ever brought one of ours and have always been fine with an 85

    Thanks for all your content, it's SO helpful! I've booked my first wedding for August 2022 which is super exciting but also a bit terrifying as I totally don't feel ready yet! (I've only seconded at one wedding and this booking came from a recommendation from one of the guests at that wedding) I currently only have one camera body and a 35mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8, I'm going to try an buy another camera body but I think I'll need to rent a lens, would a 70-200 be the best? I also need to figure out flashes as I've only worked with natural light up to now but the venue is notoriously dark...not really sure where to start with it all!

      You got this! We all start somewhere and feeling nervous is totally normal.
      I personally don’t use such a long zoom. I think the lenses you have will work just fine.
      The biggest thing is to remember to calm yourself and find interesting shots when you can. The day can be go go go and we can overwhelm ourselves so just think of having fun and simply documenting the moments for the couple.
      Most wedding couples will love what you give them. We as the artists are just harder on ourselves. Well, most.
      Cheers!
      Tuan

      I’d borrow/rent/buy another camera body. Saves switching lenses and you know you’re not out of the game if your camera fails. 70 -200 is great, depending on the location. I used mine in a large church and for candid shots in a fairly large room and to be discreet. You can also do a lot with a 35 and 85. I’d also recommend considering a workshop or asking someone to do a bit of practice with you on flash. I find shooting portraits with models is also good practice even though it’s not wedding stuff. Plan some shots you want to get. Taylor has lots of great videos. Maybe try and second shoot some more too. You’ll enjoy it more if you feel ready and will likely get your best images if you enjoy it.

    Do you have a video on how to use flash?
    And how important is a second body to start with?

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  2 роки тому

      Haha search for Taylor Jackson Off Camera Flash and you’ll get a few videos. There’s also a few videos on the members site.
      And I’d for sure have a second body for a wedding day. Engagement sessions and whatnot, not as important but get one as fast as you can
