  • Thanks to the COVID-19 scare ruining our (and most everybody's) longer-distance travels this spring, it seems our camping "theme" of 2020 is turning into a tour of they myriad parks and campgrounds in a fifty-mile radius of our house! In this video, we visit Baker Creek State Park, another of the many RV camping spots up and down the Savannah River. Come along and see what we discovered at this quiet little boating and biking haven on the South Carolina side of Lake Thurmond... not that we had the chance to do either of those things this particular weekend...

      Supposedly, there've been some renovations done there in the last year or so - might be worth a re-visit threre... 🤔

    Enjoyed the video as always! Loved the drone footage. We went to Baker Creek after it opened in March, and the bike trails were not maintained (we're mountain bikers). Your review was spot on. I think it's because it's a seasonal park, so it doesn't get many resources. When we were there, only 1 park ranger was on staff. We kayak, and as you said, that part was nice...as well as the beautiful views of the lake. We have a teardrop camper, so restroom facilities are a must....and I totally agree with your "review" of the bath house haha. I appreciate that you guys always find the positive. We try to do the same.

      Thanks, Lee! Always good to know you're checking in on us. We did develop a severe case of kayak-envy while we were there, for sure... to the point we actually did something about it. (How's THAT for a tease!?) 😜

    This was a fun view of the Baker Creek State Park. If there is anything we have learned in the last couple of years with an RV, you need to learn to roll with the punches when things do not go your way.

      Amen to that! It's a lesson we're still struggling to learn. Thanks for taking a look!

    We tuned the bicycles last year. Took them on our last trip...first half of the ride was great, it was down hill. Riding back up to the campsite caused a quad meltdown. Lol. Your locally park reviews help us out of towners see potential sites to visit. Good job on the video.

      Thanks, Scott! Yeah, it seems our theme for 2020 is gonna be "Central Savannah River Area Camping," since all our more extensive travel plans got killed off by COVID, darn it. 😡 We need to work out some sort of deal with the Augusta Chamber of Commerce, or something... 🤔

    You guys should consider buying some rubber soled water shoes if you haven't already. We don't venture out into any lake or river without them. This looked like a beautiful area! Thanks for the tour!

      You... are... a MIND READER!! We each got a pair right after this trip, and used them on our most recent outing (video for which won't be up for a few weeks)! They're life-savers, especially on the rocky, uneven footing at Lake Thurmond. Thanks for the tip, and thanks for watching!

    Thank you for another great video. It was fun even though you didn’t get to go swimming. The waking you dud was fun because we saw wild turkeys. That fly. Maybe that’s why they are called wild turkeys. Lol. I liked when you you took
    that thing that you fly around to show from up above the scenery below. That was nice to see the scenery

    You should see Baker Creek now. It’s a mess at the moment, but they’re adding 50 amp and I do believe more campsites. Piles of trees have been taken down there. Adding Corn hole etc. also. Getting some much needed TLC. Probably look good when it’s finished.

    Looks like a nice state park. The lake is beautiful. Your site is great, your own little peninsula. Great drone footage. Cool to see the turkeys in the tree. Have to say that we are glampers, too. Like the nicer, comfortably terraced sites. Thanks for the nice tour of the area and review.

      Thanks so much!! We're overdue for some glamping - "roughing it" is fun, but paved sites and full hookups have their merits, too! 😜

    • @LiveNLearnRV
      @LiveNLearnRV  4 роки тому

      Eh, it was... okay. It's a seasonal park, so it doesn't get enough resources pumped into it to keep it in better shape. Water wasn't too bad - mid-May, so it was just starting to get swim-worthy warm.

Please take a look at our channel and let us know what you think. We didn’t know they furloughed government employees during this mess. We can’t wait to get our drone. So much fun! Such a beautiful park. Thanks for sharing!

    Do you think you could have launched kayaks from your site?

    • @LiveNLearnRV
      @LiveNLearnRV  4 роки тому

      Yes! We could have done so, but a mere fifty yards to our right (as we're looking at the water) was a much more beach-like slope that lots of folks were using to put in both kayaks and smaller fishing boats.
