FIRST TAIL UP RUN at
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 чер 2024
- Today I got to make 4 or 5 runs down the runway. This was the last one. It's a little hard to tell when it raised. The tail came up at 1:24 and stayed up till 1:35. If you look at the tree line at the right side of the video, you can see it is sloped down to the right. When the tail lifted, you see it level out. The video appears to look like I am swerving side to side, but it wasn't that drastic at all. It was a good first tail up run.

This first flight is going to be amazing. You should be proud of all of your work. So excited.
I'm very pleased.
Congratulations and with your patience what I mean by patience that you're taking your time and making sure everything's right
Thanks
Some one needs to volunteer to film the first takeoff when Dons (Sean Connery) ready to get air born 😊
I know what you mean, I need someone who can run mine and make it look good.
I’d do it but I’m in Australia 😮
Getting close.
Cool to see another driver who loves aviation. Love the Corsair! I can't wait to see the maiden!
Yaaay! Great news. Turn that camera around so we can see the tail fly.
Outstanding!!!! Bravo!
Aah, the sign of a true pilot. I don’t have any money, I’m always broke. It’s called love of aviation.
thats the face of a happy man on the thumbnail, hope to see this thing in the sky this summer, of course when the conditions are right
Shouldn't be long now. Hopefully by the end of the month.
I flew down to KGKJ yesterday and saw you running down the runway. I'm glad I was able to find you here. Hope you the best on the maiden flight.
Thanks, and you were one of many coming and going.
Outstanding, Don! Thanks for the update! 😃
Tail up...awesome video. Thanks for posting the great news
Thanks, just wished it looked better.
We are definitely getting closer to see this thing fly. I can't wait.
Yes we are!
Great job done glad to see the progression and modifications are working to your liking 😊 Hopefully you're comfortable enough to give her a test fly soon 😊
It's coming along well now.
Excited to see this bird fly!
It's coming.
First CONGRATULATIONS ON high speed taxi test. Was watching you talk and noticed a wing nut that if your head slammed back. Ouch
My head can't reach it.
@@Dynodon64 I hope not Don. I enjoy your videos. Love Corsair’s
Congratulations on your milestone 👏
❤ this is great!
Cool deal Don! Thanks for sharing your progress!
Well done, Don! Step-by-step progress results in success when you're ready.
Thanks
So amazing and loving the progress, hope it keeps going fairly smoothly and cant wait to see you airborne!
Thanks
Thanks for bringing me (the 550th like & 162nd commenter) along for the tailwheel lift! BRAVO ZULU, Don!
That's a big milestone, congratulations Don!
Yes it was.
Don, another milestone checked off! 👍
They say Boat stands for Break out another thousand.
Airplane is another Ten Thousand!!😂
Isn't that for sure! LOL
Congratulations, I think the new wheel is the ticket. Beautiful plane
Thanks
Keep going... she'll fly right and true when you finally maiden out & up! Fun fact: The first time I rotated my Sonarai, the tail didn't just lift up, the entire plane lept off the ground! Be ready for that.
Your bird will likely be very light on the controls like ke a Sonarai...tiny stick and rudder inputs will make a lot of flight attitude change...be ready for that too. Can't wait to see you fly her and the post maiden debrief.
Keep going and stay safe.
Yes I expect it to be touchy. I flew Gyrocopters for years, and they are very touchy as well, but very stable too. Fly by the wrist. I'll be ready. The rudder is more sensitive than I thought, but I'm getting used to it.
1/4"? Not bad. Use a trim on the stablizer to pitch the tail up for level flight.
Happy days for Suesy Bell flying soon.
Fix the electrical problem and fly, baby, fly!
I can't wait for the first flight. What a beautiful plane
Shouldn't be long now.
Did the Wright brothers do anything close to this much testing? Ha ...stay safe my mechanical brother. I love this build.
Thanks, and the Wright Brothers flew it as a glider first. LOL
Great job! Looking forward to the first flight. 😁🤙🏼
Congratulations Sir! Great to see the tail coming up and yes, like someone else said, you do look like Sean Connery. Making great progress on my 3/4 109 project as well with you as inspiration. God love ya -Ray in Canada
Keep me up to date when you can. Thanks
Way to go Don!!! This is awesome and exciting. Getting closer now to getting that beautiful plane in the air.
Thanks
Congrats on the tail up attitude so exciting! Keep up the great work! 🥰🥰
Thanks
Nice work! Another milestone. Congrats!
Thanks
G'day,
Great stuff !
Yay Team...
Keep on keepin' on.
Stay safe.
;-p
Ciao !
Stay tuned, more to come.
Hello Don , Jim , from Fairview Melhorn road Rt. 5 yellow barn but living in Fl. Now. Congratulation on that beautiful bird. I would hope to see it live one day. Good luck on that first flight . You make me want to get back into my kolb again. 🤙
Thanks, I know where your from in Fairview.
Getting closer Dynodon64! 👍
I bet that felt great (scary, but great) when that tail came up. Glad to hear weather worked out in your favor this weekend.
It was expected, but it did feel good to finally get it up. The tail that is, LOL
Wooohooo, good to hear the tail came up, do a rear shot so we can see the next taxi test, we can see you working that rudder, lol.
I'm working on it.
Happy to see this progress! Please mount the camera on wing facing the tail so we can see what you felt. Keep the updates coming! Can’t wait to see this bird fly.
This camera isn't small enough for mounting anywhere else.
@@Dynodon64
I think there are some good deals to be had on used go pro sessions. They are the tiny cube ones. Replacing the lipos in them isn't too bad honestly and it's still a good camera in 2024 imo.
@@StuckOnAFireHydrant Thanks
Congratulations, Don!! So glad the tail-up handling felt good to you.
Thanks, and everything is going well.
Way to go!
DON IT LOOKED GREAT !!!!! i definately can see the tail come up 😎👍🏼
Thanks, glad you all are able to catch it.
What an incredible milestone! Congratulations..
Thanks
Fantastic! Must have been hard not to pull back on that yoke. 😀
Yes it is, but patients is a virtue.
Wow...watched it twice checking for tail lift. I thought @1:16 > 1:40 she had that. When you settled back it got a little squirrely but that's what learning curve is all about. I guess you can feel the lift and that's gotta be exciting.
It looks more squirrely than it is. Just the camera.
Thanks for the timestamps.
Nice going Don, must feel good, (nice to see your face after all this time), NP Oregon
Thanks, I was very happy.
Lookin Good Don!!
Wow what amazing progress
Rock n roll Don!
I will keep it going.
Been a long time comin, so glad it is almost here.
Getting close now.
Congrats!!!!!!
Looks good!
Congratulations
Wow! Congratulations! How exciting!
I was very pleased.
Ha once you got the revs up and the plane lurched forward I felt a
Tinge of excitement 😊
Me too!
Congratulations Don!!!! How's a big dude like you squeeze in that!!
Very carefully! LOL
Nice, seems like it tracks good, please be ready to fly if if it happens when not expected , have fuel to get you around the pattern. I Enjoy your vedio
That's why I was pulling the throttle back to keep it on the ground. I had over half a tank of fuel on board as well.
Bravo, great progress!!! If I may have a suggestion: getting someone to film your videos would greatly enhance your viewers experience.
It would be nice to have someone there for the filming. Some day I will get someone to help.
Outstanding!
You can see when the tail lifts. Like you said, it won't take much and she'll jump into the air.
Good run! You could see the attitude change when the tail wheel came off the ground. Wasn’t much,as you said, but it was noticeable. Have to agree with one of the other comments though. That wing nut behind your head doesn’t look good. Might consider making it as a flush mount, or possibly cover it with a removable head rest. Like everyone else I’m dying to see footage of the first flight. All in good time though. Gremlins have to be found and fixed!
Thanks, and the wing nut is not a problem. My head can't reach it. Besides, the screw driver is in there.
SWEET and EXCITING !!! She wants to FLY. It won't be long now. 👍👍
Did you happen to note airspeed when that 3500 RPM had the tail rising?
My wild guess would be 45 mph-ish.
After the tail came down I was just below 60 mph. The camera is deceiving.
Congratulations Don,,, At those speeds you are flying. Be prepared for band unintentional lift off should mother nature give you a sudden gust..
That's why I pulled back on the throttle to keep it grounded. But, yes I am ready for it too.
A little advice. Taxiing down the runway and picking up enough speed to lift the tail is actually more tricker then just going flying; aka ground looping. I kept my tail down until I was confident enough to go flying. Once I had a few hours on my RV-4 then I lifted the tail off before I got airborne. Maybe you are going to fly her. lol.
Thanks for the input.
Congratulations on a job well done love watching your videos
Thanks
Congrats on getting the tailwheel up
It felt good.
Good stuff. Getting real closeDon.
A few more tail up runs, and we'll be good to go.
Congratulations!
Thanks
Awesome. Way to go!
Thanks
That butterfly screw behind your head is making me worry!
You and everyone else. My head can't reach it.
Congrats, slow and steady may not win he race but it does lead to being able to fly again, Good Luck!!
Thanks
WOAH! Very Cool!
Oshkosh here you come!
I don’t know if your head can tilt back that far, but that wing screw behind your head scares me! I’d have to get a d-ring screw or some kind flush latch.. 👍
Can't reach it with my head.
Oh good! 👍
That's Awesome!!! Thanks for the update. Keep up the good work. Do you have a fund me page? You have been working on this project a very long time. I haven't been here from day 1, but this is COOL. Thanks again :)
I only have UA-cam, no Fund me needed. Thanks anyway.
Looks like she will be ready to fly in no time, this seems like a huge step in that direction
I hope by the end of the month.
@@Dynodon64 Oh dang, well i wish you the best of luck with that, would be awesome to see it fly that soon
Nice, I did notice a change in camera angle but I wasn't thinking of tail lift.....loose camera was on my mind
In your closing I noticed a butterfly screw behind your head on the plywood panel. Is that for a fold down panel? There is the same butterfly screw with the butterfly thumb that folds flat. Man if you hit the throttle to hard that screw might dent the back of your head!😮 oh I can't wait for the maiden LIFTOFF.
Yes it's for storage, and no ,y head can't reach it.
Very Nice Don!!
Going Good 👍
Woohoo first tail up run! No going back now😊
Getting closer! You'll be flying before you know it.
Soon I hope.
You must be new here
@@54378100 And you must be Debbi Downer!
congratulations I can't wait to see your airplane flying 🎉
Me too!
Best of luck with it .
Thank you.
Great job 👍
Thanks
Careful with that wingnut right behind your noggin!
My head can't reach it.
got to be very tempting to firewall and pull the stick back.
Not yet.
Where hitting 109 here in the desert. Good old Tucson, at lease it’s a dry heat.
This past week has been below normal. Down to low 50's at night, and high @ 60 in the days.
Love your videos! Just one concern though ... the latch for the compartment behind your head ... I would HATE for you to have a hard landing and get that sucker embedded in your skull! Sorry if this is a stupid though! STAY SAFE!
Head can't reach it.
6:49 ...👍😁🍺🍺🍺😁🍺🍺👍👍👍
Love the work and progress... I was just wondering if you are going to maiden it or have a test pilot do it?
That's my job.
Good to see the progress. It might be an optical illusion, but does that large wing nut pose an injury potential to the back of your head?
No, head can't reach it.
Are you a truck driver? That’s what I’ve been doing for the past 28 years
Uber driver
Hell yeah!
This is great news. Thanks for sharing Don you’re doing a great job. If I send you a GoPro camera, would that help any? Let me know for real 😊 I bought it two years ago, never used it.
I would surely use it. You can email me at my UA-cam name at verizon dot net.
@@Dynodon64 ok 👍🏻
The wing nut behind your head looks ominous!
My head can't reach it.
@@Dynodon64 Thanks.
Awesome
Great work. When’s the first flight scheduled for?
I don't have a scheduled time for first flight. It will happen when it's ready. Soon.
Don, I could tell the new rear wheel came off the ground!
Glad you were able to see it.
Well done on the ground run, could you feel any authority on the vertical stabiliser ? : )
Yes it works before the tail even comes up.
0:56 ...😁😁😁🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺👍
