I did litter train one kitten. He was 5 wks old. I didn't know what I was doing. Ended up filling a pie pan with litter (yes I threw it away after lol). I put that, along with a blanket, food and water inside of a box with a kitten overnight. I swear I got blessed because this little guy used that pan of litter til he graduated to a real litter box and he did not ever have even one accident. Now, today I found four kittens approx 4 wks old. Litter training has officially begun again. Hope it goes as well as last time but with 4 I doubt it. Def taking your advice
Hi, my cat is actually pregnant right now and that's how I saw this channel while researching, anyway I have a question: Once the kittens come how do I train them not to scatch my family and friends (because I know kittens are very playful creatures and they hunt by nature)?
Fiona Harris Hi, Fiona! I think maintaining regular nail trimmings on a monthly basis is a good preventative measure against sharp nails and the possibility of scratching. Also, introducing a small scratching post to kittens around ages 4-5 weeks is a good way to teach them what they can scratch. That way they get used to the texture of sisal or cardboard and don’t do it to your skin for example. Hope that helps! 😺💖
Fiona Harris Also, try not to play with them using your hands and instead play with them using toys because as they got older they will begin to view your hands as an object to play with, as their nails get longer and teeth get sharper this will hurt more and the cat won’t understand this is wrong to do (:
Zakerah Minhas Hi, Zakerah! I put the playpen/tent inside the room I plan for her to give birth in and then a few days before she gives birth I contain her within that one room so she doesn’t navigate to other areas of the house to give birth. Typically by containing her in one room, they will only look for their nest in that room. I also have an empty closet in the same room so she has a few options if she does not feel comfortable inside the tent. But, because my cats are used to the tent already they generally feel comfortable giving birth inside it.
I find your videos super informative and you may be one of if not the only one who makes videos pertaining to an entire litter vs. one cat that someone adopted. which is super appreciated as I took in a stray from the streets on downtown la and welp she was Prego haha so now I have 5 kittens and a mama. and 1000% your videos got me through her delivery. haha. do you breed your Scottish or did it just happen to get pregnant by mistake?
You can try to move the kitten in the right direction once they're done doing their business and see if they will cover it properly without stepping on it. 😺💕 I know it can take a while sometimes for them to get the hang of it.
I did everything to train one me kitten the other kitten is already trained the other one does not want to poop in the litter box!!!they r freaking 7 weeks old

Thanks so much! Our kittens are going to be 6 weeks on Thursday and seem to have taken well to this type of litter. They are able to get out of their pen now and their mommy's litter box is clumping litter. It's far from their boxes, but they can get to it now (if they tried) and I'm concerned what to do. Is it safe to leave mommy's box as-is with clumping litter or should I try to switch her to Yesterday's News? She may not take kindly to that, but I want the kittens to be safe. Thanks!
Hi Monica, good question! In this situation I try to either have the mother using the same litter as the kittens or try to put her litter box elevated somewhere like a small table where the kittens can't quite jump yet.😺💕
@@kittycatsoulfood984 thank you so much! Would another option be to give the mother cat non-clumping cat litter? Would that be safe for the kittens if they decided to investigate?
Hi, I have 3 kittens who just turned 3 weeks old! Can you recommend me other types of litter or things we can DIY that I can use while training them because all I can find in my country are clumping litter. Thanks a bunch!
You can buy non clumping litter or I think you can order it online, in my country they don’t have the litter she uses and my vet told me I could use non clumping litter 😅😅
Hi there, I'm at that stage with my 2 kittens and their momma cat right now! Their mom still stimulates them too. How was it like for you? Did the kittens learn quickly and when did you start to encourage them to use the litter box?

Thanks for your video. Do you have any tips to prevent kitten from eating/chewing on that paper litter? Mine is playing with it and trying to chew on it, I'm afraid she could break it down and swallow.
Hello, I took in a queen and she had her first litter of 2 kittens. They’re 5, almost 6, weeks old and they’re able to use the bathroom without being stimulated by their mom. But they’re not using the litter box 😞 I don’t have the litter that’s meant for kittens yet so I tore up some paper and put it in a shallow litter box. They can get in and out easily but don’t do their business in it, instead they go on the floor. Any advice?
I just rescued a 3-4-week-old kitten that was abandoned by its mom. He is eating goat's milk and some wet food mixed with goat milk. He has no interest in the litter box. I place him in the litter tray and he jumps out right away, He had a bowel movement on himself this morning. I've had kittens before and they took right to the litter box. I'm puzzled! Is he just too young?
This video was super helpful! I just adopted an 8 week old kitten, unfortunately he’s peeing in random corners of the house and isn’t taking to the litter box very well. When I put him in it he kind of just freezes and then jumps out. Could it be the kind of litter I have? Do you think if I changed the litter brand / texture he would take to the litter box? Getting a little frustrated because it feels like I’m doing everything wrong :(
hey beautful what do u do when there just refusing to eat food and the little box? they walk around it then jump off. i been using pine litter i got from petco
Raquel Twod Hi Raquel! You mean keep them using kitten litter as they get older? If they feel comfortable using it, why not.😺 You don’t have to switch it unless, of course, you feel they don’t like using it.
My kitten is 10 weeks old and he is pooping and peeing outside of the litter box. We keep putting him in after food and naps but he just won't go, we have a good sized litter tray and wood pellet litter and I just don't know what to do for him, I know it's not his fault and so I don't punish him I keep trying to put him in but he keeps coming out of it 😭
My kitten uses the litter box most of the time and they are always clean but then she poops on the rug too. What do I do? I’ve never had trouble litter trying a kitten before
My friend gave me a black kitten. I'm not sure what breed is it. To me just a normal kitten, she's a girl, very very playful and always like to bite my hands , fingers, legs and chew all my plants and wants to eat what I'm eating. Every time she makes pooh she doesn't know how to cover it although I showed her so many times. Sometimes she drives me nuts coz she knocks down everything. But even though I'm so angry with her she's still come to me for a cuddle and follows me every where. She's very sweet. Her name is " Lucky". Can you please give me a tips on how to train her especially covering her pooh. She makes wee wee and pooh on my indoor plants as well...* sigh*.
I brought 2 kittens in. The mom just stopped feeding them. They are I believe 3 weeks old and already peeing and pooping on their own. I'm still bottle feeding too. Will they use a litter box now if I were to introduce them to a litter box.
I clean the litterbox and do everything every video I’ve seen tells me and he still never goes to the litter box, if I try to put the kitten in he will just walk out of the cat. And I even stimulate him ontop of the litter box
I am so much disturbed, as my kitten is 8weeks plus & am training him again and again for litter, infact i put him in litter forcefully sometimes, even i dig his paws in litter but still he's doing shotty and potty on the floor in my house.😩 My mother is telling me again and again that give his kitten to someone, i won't allow you to keep this in home.😭😭 Please help me out please please please please🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
hear me out. my aunt found a kitten in a basement and he was like 4 days old. fast forward we are on litter training and hes maybe 6 weeks now and still doesnt recognize the box as where he gotta poop. he wont go in the box we have to put him there physically if not he would rather do it on the couch. i need help because at this point he goin to the aspca
hi, i have a question so im currently trying to train 4 four week old kittens to use the litter box and i know im not supposed to use clumping or fragranced cat litter, i have the purina tidy cat non clumping clay litter, is it safe for them ? because as soon as i put them in the litter box they instantly started eating it and i took it out before the ingested it but is it harmful to them if they were to consume it ?
I really need help, not sure if you will see this or not or anyone that can help and give me some advice. But basically I just bought a kitten who is 2months and I was told he is litter trained but he is half trained and half not. I say this because he is using the litter when he is near the litter but if he is a separate room he will end up having accidents. He also has diarhea plus worms I have taken him to the vets and was given a 3 day treatment. I need advice in what to do as the accidents is really frustrating and I don't want to give him up as his still a baby and will learn hopefully. I have had kittens before and this has never happened. So any sort of advice will be helpful in how to prevent this from happening. I have been cleaning his litter every time he uses it and make sure its always clean. I have located it far from his food and water. I am not using scented litter or anything as I know that may be a cause. So please please please if anyone can help that would be great.
My kitten hasn't been using her litter box at all she's been doing the restroom on my bed and its stressing me out she just runs straight to my bed and I don't know what to do
@あゆみbby I tried this certain step where you put their business in the litter box itll redirect them to where they need to start going I stopped giving access to my bed and put her poop in the litter and now she knows

Getting a little frustrated because it feels like I’m doing everything wrong :(
I just wanna say ur Kittens so fking CUTEEEEE
hey beautful what do u do when there just refusing to eat food and the little box? they walk around it then jump off. i been using pine litter i got from petco
Can I just keep the same litter if I wanted once they get older or would I have to change it? (Like the brand)
Raquel Twod Hi Raquel! You mean keep them using kitten litter as they get older? If they feel comfortable using it, why not.😺 You don’t have to switch it unless, of course, you feel they don’t like using it.
I also use Pretty kitty for mom can I use for the babies?
helped soooo much thankyou! my kitten rocky will no longer pee on my bed haha!
I have 40 day old kittens that I rescued and the first time they noticed the regular cat little they did eat some .. They will be ok right?
I am so much disturbed, as my kitten is 8weeks plus & am training him again and again for litter, infact i put him in litter forcefully sometimes, even i dig his paws in litter but still he's doing shotty and potty on the floor in my house.😩
My mother is telling me again and again that give his kitten to someone, i won't allow you to keep this in home.😭😭
Please help me out please please please please🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

hi, i have a question so im currently trying to train 4 four week old kittens to use the litter box and i know im not supposed to use clumping or fragranced cat litter, i have the purina tidy cat non clumping clay litter, is it safe for them ? because as soon as i put them in the litter box they instantly started eating it and i took it out before the ingested it but is it harmful to them if they were to consume it ?
My cat did the same with the clump litter
@@greciaarias9712 same but I used paper litter. Idk how to stop it
I need to buy a cat but my mom not have money where you buy this cat please say the place reply
Hello, My cat has given birth. N they r 1month old bt they r littering on matress , can i giv them liter box now ?
My male kitten won't use the litter box and has been going on our bed. His sister has no problem. Help!
What brand of litter was that please?
My kitten hasn't been using her litter box at all she's been doing the restroom on my bed and its stressing me out she just runs straight to my bed and I don't know what to do
@あゆみbby I tried this certain step where you put their business in the litter box itll redirect them to where they need to start going I stopped giving access to my bed and put her poop in the litter and now she knows
Is it okay if I litter train my cat in the basement but then move the litter box in the kitchen? How would they know?
