I adopted a 4-year-old female Scottish Fold who had to be rehomed. She's now 6. I find my Whitney to be not very active (lol) and she would rather sleep the whole day. But she is the sweetest and gentlest cat who meows back in the softest voice when her name is called and follows me and household members around. I did notice that her way of walking is different from my other cat which is probably the disposition of her joints and a genetic condition common to the breed.
Aww help me we just bring our little one scothish fold how to takecare of him properly am realy worried though i lost my one pet 😢😢😢 he got sick and thn died i dont want to lost tis one 😢😢😢😢
Amazing info i recently adopted 4 years with in 2 weeks time frame she got used to house and garden i try to keep her inside home mostly and supervised garden times also .. now she likes to sleep with me arm to her head or legs 😀😀😀💙
Thank you for this video, I have a Scotty Fold and she is beautiful, intelligent, and elderly now yet still enjoys playing. I have noticed what I thought was arthritis in her front elbow joints which i hope isn't OCD but will be uncomfortable or painful for her either way. The information was very helpful.
I have a 9-year old Fold who is super sweet and affectionate, which plays up to Folds' general characteristics and behavioral patterns. It's true, you cannot leave them alone for long periods of time because they need to be around their owners and feel wanted. My cat has a daily routine (like us humans) and follows me around in the morning and sits with me in the kitchen, stares up at me and blinks because she wants to be petted (and a sign that she loves me) and craves attention. When I get up from the breakfast table she has to walk with me for a while (always in front or alongside of me) before she jumps on the sofa to look out the window. Even at 9, she's pretty active. Folds are prone to OCD so it's important to be on the lookout for this. They are really the best cat breed and I highly recommend getting one. If you are interested in getting a Fold, please watch the informational video above and follow their advice. Having a Fold is worth every penny. They provide you with endless hours of love and entertainment!
My cat was recently diagnosed with OCD by my vet and I bring her in every 4 weeks for her monthly shot of solensia which helps her arthritis and it has been working fine.
I have a beautiful Scottish straight male named Rufus. He is so round ands fluffy and I love him. He doesn’t seem to have the arthritis that these cats get so I’m grateful
I have a new 3 month old but he doesn’t seem to be the least interested in moving around. All he does is sleep and eat oh yes and lots of cuddles. How can I get him to be more active? I bought him toys but I feel like nothing amuses him. He’ll walk right past me and sleep in his bed just unfazed.😀 Is this normal?
We have a Scottish Fold. What a great breed! But I agree with the video. Our cat is affectionate and loving but he does need some attention. We're fine with that 🙂
I have 2 years with a Golden Scottish Fold and she is the most affectionate, sweet , gentle cat I know. She loves to sleep the entire day , and at night waits for me in the entrance of my bedroom to go to sleep. She loves to sleep at the edge of my bed , and follows me around the house. If by chance I take a nap and forget to pet her in , that's the only time she cries to be let in. What I find funny is how she can hold her pee and poop compared to my other cats. But overall she is amazing. I was very lucky to find her.
My Scottish fold is the sweetest kitty in the world. She loves people and sleeps on my bed from 10-7. When I go to the office, she is always waiting by the door when I get home so I have decided to get another cat to be her big brother and I hope they get along well ❤
My first cat was a folded ears (single) moggy, I had her for 19 years. She died 2 years ago. She was a smart cat. Then I adopted a feral cat (straight eared) from a shelter, a very funny cat, unfortunately he died too, just 2 months ago. I now have two cats. My next cat will be a Scottish Fold.
I have a two month old gray Scottish fold cat. It is also his first night with me and he woke up at 2 am and cried. But when I play with him. He stopped to cried. But when I stop to play with him and ho back to sleep he started to cried again. I have no choice but to leave him alone at home and keep all his necessities❤
we have a 6 years old Scottish fold he doesn't like being petted and definitely hates my guts but he really likes my partner and very low mobility people. he always wants to be around someone but doesn't want you to be loud, touch him or move much. basically if you are a plant that'd be perfect. he's smart and learned how to use the automatic feeder when ever he wants. and all though he loves to play i think he started to move less which is worrying but we visit the vet every month. does anyone know how do i convince him i'm not the spawn of satan?
Hello . Me has 2 Scottish folds one male and famale, me just wondering my female 11 months cat suddenly her belly become big as round and a bit heavy . But she look fine and active of playing , , .
Can you pls help me, I just got a scotish fold mix with British shorthair, and after I saw everywhere on internet that even if they are not pure they will get the genetic illness of scotish fold, is this true? And pls could you pls advice me how to prevent it?
I have one but she sleeps all a day .no activity 🙄 no playing. No movement..she just is active when everyone is sleeps..why ! I just bought it and the owner said she is pregnant..could it be the reason why she sleeps all the time?
So my father alsays sleeps from 7am till 2/3 pm because he always wirks at night and me and my brother aren’t at home fron 7am -3pm is that a problem? I have been begging my parents for a cat for 3 years and they finally gave in, telling me my dads freind has sqottish babie but i dont want to ruin their nature. Please guve me advise
They are not active, because they’re most likely in pain. It’s sad. And no, they’re NOT known to be a healthy breed, but quite the opposite! This information is so wrong - EVERY scottish fold has OCD, because the ears are basically the proof of exactly that. There’s not question whether they get it, but when it will present.
Are you a cat how do you know their pain, all I know they are not human so you can't tell if they feel the same like human having the same issue, so don't talk like you are a cat
@@codrinone9158 All Scottish Fold cats are affected by osteochondrodysplasia, that affects cartilage and bone development throughout the body. They have malformed bone structures and can develop severe painful degenerative joint diseases at an early age. Breeding Fold cats is prohibited in several countries, like in Norway where I live. Its because of animal welfare, but who cares since the cat is cute…. 🤦🏼♀️😿
They’re cute but no Scottish folds aren’t for me I don’t need a cat with constant health problems when they get old I just recently lost my Maine Cion I had him for 10 years I’m not going through watching a cat suffer before they die
Scottish Folds are a "special needs" cat. The health issues are costly and their quality of life can really be sad. The visible signs of cartilage deficiencies are evident in their ears. The way they cope with pain is to be less active which unfortunately is interpreted as being more affectionate. Not all will suffer, but too many will.
@@alicesacco9329 I have a triple Scottish fold Longhair who is now 1.5 years old (cat age), but I've noticed that her movement (walking and running (which she rarely does)) is inappropriate, similar to waddle. And she can't jump as well, she only jumps to sit on a sofa or bed, but she can't jump higher than that... Is your cat experiencing the same symptoms?

food - our cat is very very very fussy .... about SF being loving and extremely affectionate , well with our cat it's 180 degrees ! he doesn't like to be petted , but i made a ritual when i come from work i would pick him up on my chest and lie down on a sofa and he loves it ... but most of the time he would leave or stretch back when u try to pet him . loves to sleep a lot !!!! but hyper-active when it's play time .

Did she give breathe ? And are the offspring’s healthy ? Because same I have 2 folds
I’m owned by two regular DSH cats who I adopted. These fold cats seem to have health problems. They are cute but so are all cats.
I got lost on the intelligent energetic cat.
NEVER turn your Scottish Fold into grilled Kung Pao Chicken

I would suggest you exercise your cat and never skip playtime. This will prevent their bones from being weak

Scottish folds have OCD by definition, that's why their ears fold so maybe you should stop euphenizing :(
They live the half of a normal cat, just for those f ears
