This is a really good video! I'm fostering two kittens, which I've bottle fed since 1 day old. The shelter gave me Breeze pellets for the litter box. At about 4 to 4 1/2 weeks, one kitten regularly peed in the bed and both pooped outside of the box. I switched to Yesterday's News paper pellets on a Thursday afternoon . . . by Saturday morning, both were using the litter box. A woman who fosters kittens all the time, told me to confine them to a small space. I didn't have a pen, so I put them in a bathtub where they have a litter box at one end, their bed in the middle and food and water dishes at the other end. If there's a mess, it's so easy to clean it up. If kittens are in a big space, they won't remember where the litter box is. When I remove them from the bathtub for playtime, I temporarily move the litter box to a corner in the play area and they are also using the box -- no accidents so far! I can't wait until they're old enough for clumping litter.
Thanks for the bathtub idea, I just turned mine into a temporary kitty home too. I had them confined to one room before but only one of four has picked up on the litter box and it's driving me nuts. Hopefully this works!
I put my kitten in the box from time to time but is still doing it on the ground , any advices ? , btw i took him while he’s like 3-4 weeks old and he is still between 3-4 weeks
I've fostered many bottle baby litters and right now I have the most anti-box kitten I've ever seen, she's six weeks old and stubborn like a mule! I've employed all the standard tips you describe and this girl is undeterred! I hadn't heard of litter attractant so I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the tip :)
@@fjdjckckckck I don't think the attractant had any effect. I ended up covering the floors with tarps while the litter figured out the box. When I took them out of their sleep area to play for a while I would just keep a close eye and when I see them preparing to void I'd gently place them in the box to finish. By the 8 week mark they finally got the hang of it and around the same time I returned them to the shelter when they all made weight. It was a super challenging litter but I still miss their little faces :)
I have a three month old kitten who is choosing to go in his bed, mats, towels on the floor, instead of his litter tray. He only uses the tray when I'm with him but if he's on his own he won't use the trays. I praise and praise him when he uses the trays. I've had him one week. Any advice would be most welcome.
Very interesting thanks Ashley I’ve never had kittens really want one I just love them all , but have l learnt from listening to you that I should get 2 as is best for them so thank you . God Bless xxx
We came across a baby kitten in our huge open garage one day, about 2months ago from now, we thought it would leave on it's own, but it didn't so out of humanity we got some food for it so it would not starve, it doesn't come near us but it's peeing pooping and vomiting everywhere, we don't know how to draw it out so we can take it to the vet to have it looked at,
Best is to first be as calm as you can be yourself. You need to be confident and earn the kittens trust. You need not ever scoled or get upset or angry with the kitteh. Treat it as a baby as this is what it is. Clean around it but try not getting close and using very strong detergents if you can avoid any detergents, the better. All felines loves cleanlyness putting down blackets and changing it will make then distinct between bed and potty. Food is very good to have given it, as this shows you caring. Remember it does not know you mean no harm. Keeping a distance is great as it is always about the kittens space and boundaries. The kitten needs to assess, realise and feel comfortable getting to trust you. When you attempt approaching do this very very slowly speak calm and softly. Talking to it is vital, it needs to get to know you sound/voice tone. Only with you hand palm down and point finger so it can smell you. If it hisses or growls or even the earn go flat, move back, and say ok baby, I understand. The more you approach it like this the closer it will allow you to get. It takes a lot of patience and being calm. When it lets you close and smell your one finger try and slowly stroke only the top of the head the amount of time it lets you. Slow very slowly never quick movements or being loud. All this hard work calmness and patience will be very rewarding to you in the long run! Good luck!
Hello. I just got kittens that are roughly 3 months old and aren't litter trained. I have placed litter boxes in two places inside the room. For now I'm keeping them confined. What else can I do??
Thank you my lady, i have a cat and she have kids and they 2 weeks old now and i have no idea what to do because they started leaving their pillow and explore my house, i saw one kitty today doing a pee on the floor and i was a bit shocked of the amount that came out which made me wondering about the age where i should do something about their "litterbox training" so now im thinking of keeping them in the toilet room because i have a big litterbox in there and their mom doesn't use it much because she stays outside the house a lot of time and she only uses it when she is lazy to go outside or half sleep
I‘m about to get a kitten at the age of 12 weeks who will not be used to having a litter box, so I need to start training to use the litter box just then. Do you have any advices for starting that training with a 12 week old kitten or is it still the same procedure? Thanks in advance!
Im adopting a kitten in about two months, ill most likely be getting when they are about 8 weeks old and im concerned as i live in a 2 story house. Is it best to keep them in one level for everything (food, litter box, sleep, etc) or let them explore both stories?
Start with them in one room and slowly introduce them to the house. Have a litter box on each level. To start you will need multiple litter boxes on the first floor or whenever they are spending most of their time. If they can’t find one they will have an accident.
I have an 8 week old kitten that was a barn kitten and I’m having issues with litter training her. Any suggestions would be so welcomed. I’ve tried confining her to a room she just climbs the gate to get out also we take her to the litter box multiple times a day she still pees on the floor and we are desperately trying to get her trained
@@JJ_Magnificent what I recommend? Anytime you see your kitten starting to squat, pick them up and run them to the litter box. If you make it to the litter box with them and they finish there, give them a treat and praise. If you see the kitten get up and start sniffing, set them in the box. If they use the bathroom somewhere else and you catch it right away, put them in the box (this just assists with the mental training, theyll jump out immediately if they already went but thats ok). If they poop somewhere else, put the poop in the box. If they pee somewhere else, take a little bit of toiler paper, wipe the pee, put it completely under the litter. And make sure to clean areas the kitten pees at very well so the cat doesnt start frequenting that area. Just don't force them to stay, if they jump out and you think they're gonna go somewhere else soon just watch closely, but if you force them to stay you may make them fearful of the box. I started this 1 month ago, my kitten is now fully potty trained without a mom to show her how. I also got a special kitty litter to attract kittens, because my cat acted like the litter hurt her paws, but it didn't make much of a difference in the process. After she started using it on her own she did love the litter though, so much that she'd make huge messes.

This is an old comment but my advice is get a new husband if he can't understand that a BABY needs time to learn and would rather it be homeless than clean a coaster sized puddle.
You mentioned kitten enticing litter. Is that something you can find at Walmart? I'm not sure exactly how old my sister's friend will possibly be putting the newly born kittens up for adoption, so I don't know if the kitten will be potty trained or not. I want to be prepared, since the mom cat won't be around to teach the kitten. I grew up with cats, but there was always more than one cat, and considering it'll just be one kitten, I know I need to learn everything kitten that I don't already know. If my sister's friend decides to put the kittens up for adoption after they've been weened from her, my eye is on the black and white kitten.
Newborn kittens need to be kept with the mom for 8-12 weeks. I hope you can convince her to keep them together as this really effect the kittens behaviorally. You can not use kitten attract litter until they are at least 6 weeks as it is clumping.

We just had one show up at our door. Not sure of age but I guess around 6 to 8 weeks. Very small but eating solid food fine. We think she got swept away in the flood from the typhoon we just had and managed to live. But might be feral as she is very thin. I got a litter box but she has shown no interest in it. Maybe keeping her in a small area.
@@YoungestOIdCatLady Yes, I got him (verified by the vet) to a vet a few days after he showed up. We started deworming right there and he's due for his next dose in 2 days. He has some kind of infection possibly right now as 2 large lumps appeared inside him but the vet said most likely not serious as it appears it's just under the skin. Got him on antibiotics for the next week. Then if that don't work surgery is the next option to look at it and possibly remove it/clean it. Then after all that's taken care of and it looks like he'll live, we'll look at vaccines. He has started using the litter box. DId great for a few days. Now he's peeing in it but started pooping outside of it. Has me stumped why. Yes we cleaned the litter box. ;) Not sure what litter attract is, never heard of it. I use horse pellet bedding that has been heated to kill the pine sap. But I've had to lock them in the bathroom bc I cleaned up the house and there was poop and pee im positive it's the boy and not a girl. I have 3 litter boxes
I'm adopting a 10 week old kitten next month, he's currently trained on using clay litter, which I haven't used in years (been using pine pellets with my previous cat). Any tips on transitioning the kitten from clay to pine pellets? Or should I substitute with paper pellets for now?
Hi, I really love your content. May I just know how can my kittens avoid eating the litter sand? They are 1-month old and they are peeing on the carpet, so I wanna train them already. So may I know how? Thank you!

Add some litter attractant to the box and make sure you have enough litter boxes out (no lids or covers). If it keeps happening go to a vet as it might be a medical issue.
My month old kitten that I got a week ago is refusing to use the litter box. I’ve used two different litters, one with litter attractant, we’ve done all the methods in this video, and she is deathly afraid of the litter. She’s pooped on the bed, but she’s mainly been pooping in the corner of the room where’s she pooped before. We can’t put her in the litter without her freaking out. I have no idea what to do.

And doesn't bury a thing and stick to their back and tail! I'm tired of their home lady mom who doesn't teach them a thing even tho she lived with her mom for 3.5 months!
The person I got em from told me that I should put them in the bathroom , with their litter boxes after they have eaten , for an hour . Is that going to work?
What age should we train a kitten? Because my cat is pregnant and I want to get ready
she said she started at 3 1/2 weeks :)
I got a 3 or 4 week old kitten, he uses the litter well but he doesn't go on his own after he eats I have to put orelse he pees on the chairs or my bed if I'm not watching, would really love to get some advice.
Aww so adorable 🥰
Hey love my kitten is now 10 weeks old and is still not litter trained we try and try and instead HE goes everywhere else BUT the litter box instead his mama uses HIS litter box 🤦♀️ I don’t know what else to do this is my SEVENTH (second boy) cat and for some reason he’s just not getting it. Any suggestions or tips will be greatly appreciated 😊
I'm going to try this thank you my mom said if my kitty doesn't use the litter box I have to get rid of her and she's my best friend
Hope you see this but I adopted a kitten and I tried to kitty litter train him as the previous owners didn’t I assume he was left in a barn so he pees and poops anywhere such as corners how do I reverse that? He refuses the kitty litter
Can I apply for kitten 2 months old? Previous owner let the mom and kittens to go straight to bathroom sewage drainer and didn’t train them using litter. Could you share your method would work on the kitten older than 8 weeks?
Have a kitten who is five months old and uses the box but does not get fully inside the box. She stands in it but places her hindquarters often goes outside on the floor. How do I help correct this?
Make large litter
Good video thanks
i just got my kitten, she's about a month and a half, 2 max months old, she's been outside this whole time and has no idea what the inside even is, i have a litter box and litter and have put her in it so many times, she just doesn't wanna go in it, she peed once and it was on a blanket while i was holding her, what are you best suggestions? :(
you also look like a kitten 😍
Great informative video, thank you
My wife and I have two 4 week old kittens that we are litter box training and it's not going well. We've tried different litters and done everything on your video and nothing is working. If anyone has any advice please help us. We got them when they were two days old so we are all they know. We are at a loss, it's been five days and they are grasping the litter box. Please help.
Add some litter attract! Make sure you get her to a vet and dewormed. A lot of kittens remain thin because they have worms.
Doubt I'll find anything like that in the Philippines easily.
Mine hates the litter I don’t know what to use
I use horse pellet bedding that has been heated to kill the pine sap. But I've had to lock them in the bathroom bc I cleaned up the house and there was poop and pee im positive it's the boy and not a girl. I have 3 litter boxes
My cat used only for the first time today and now he is not going inside the box 😭😭😭 box is clean too. What to do
2:11 that’s some thick kittens 🐱
Great video
I'm adopting a 10 week old kitten next month, he's currently trained on using clay litter, which I haven't used in years (been using pine pellets with my previous cat). Any tips on transitioning the kitten from clay to pine pellets? Or should I substitute with paper pellets for now?
I’d start by mixing the two or using some kitten attract litter with the pellets!
How many weeks when you can start to use clumping litter?
I miss you..
What is this litter attract thing, what is the name, please?
Loved the video 💟
Hi, I really love your content. May I just know how can my kittens avoid eating the litter sand? They are 1-month old and they are peeing on the carpet, so I wanna train them already. So may I know how? Thank you!
In the video we discuss using non clumping pellet litter to begin with. This way they won’t choke on it.
What should I do if mine peed on the carpet and is 4 months old? The original owner said she was trained for 2 weeks but I think otherwise. We just got her today. She is a rag doll cat. I’m very stressed. :(
Add some litter attractant to the box and make sure you have enough litter boxes out (no lids or covers). If it keeps happening go to a vet as it might be a medical issue.
I show them the litter box and they know what to do.
SAMEE my two month old freaks out and jumps out the litter idk what to do
How is she doing now? I have same problem. I would suggest putting your litter box in that corner room where she pooped last.
Hi! I found 3 abandoned kittens and decided to keep them. I don't know how old are they. I don't have the slightest idea on what to feed them. Can anyone give me tips on raise them? Thanks!
Is that integra 3000??
I am flattering a cat right now (not a kitten) and he has already figured out the litter box and gone pee in there! However he didn’t lift his tail or properly squat and got pee on himself and reeks now
Any advice?
My 10 week old kitten thinks the litter is food, he started eating as soon as I put him in
Put kitty in litter box till he goes
sorry got distracted by that white cat getting beat up 😭😭😭😭
Me too😢
