    Beautiful headbands. Can't wait to try this!
    Why do you not use the selvedge?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Sandy.
      A selvage is the tightly woven edge of a fabric. It prevents the side edges of the fabric from unravelling or fraying. Don't use the selvage in your project because it is more densely woven and does not have the same stretch or weight as the rest of the fabric. Thanks for watching.😊

    Thanks for the tutorial. I have a few but wanted to make my own, I was not sure what size wire was being used, then I found your video.
    What is the purpose of placing the wire in when it is halfway turned out versus simply placing it after turning it?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 роки тому

      The wire in this headband is inside that small channel and not just flopping around inside the headband. This is to ensure that the wire goes right to the ends of the points of the headband. You need to put wire in before closing the channel. You won’t be able to insert from the end if you turn it all out first. You’ll see what I mean if you try to do it that way. Thanks for watching. Please check out my other tutorials on my channel. Cheers!

    • @NotchesSewing

      Thanks for watching Mary. Handwash the headband. Using stainless steel wire or galvanised wire protects from corrosion so should be ok.( I can’t guarantee anything though.....)

    How long would you cut the fabric for a child’s headband?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  2 роки тому

      Hard for me to say exactly as I do not make much for kids anymore. Try shortening by 4 inches. Wrap a tape measure or string or even the wire around child’s head to see how much of the ears you want to twist around before cutting fabric.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 роки тому

      The selvage is finished to keep the fabric from unravelling and is usually tighter and heavier than the rest of the fabric. I will not act like the rest of the fabric so you should never use it in your project. Of course there is no selvage using police...😃. Thanks for watching.

    Am I the only one confused about the wire channel? Lol My wire won't push all the way through. When I get about 8" from the end it just won't push through anymore. Could you show a little more detail on that part please?

    • @NotchesSewing

      Not sure why it wouldn’t push through. Is it getting caught on the fabric you are using? Try watching the video at half speed for more clarity. Cheers😊
