    You are an excellent teacher! I agree with all the previous comments about your tutorial. I have been sewing all my life (68yrs) it seems. Sometimes I look at various videos and think how is a person suppose to understand it. I know even a beginner can follow your tutorial with no problems. This is the first time I have seen one of your videos. I'm going to watch your others. Thanks so much.

      Thank you so much Deborah😊. This is what I try to accomplish with my videos so that even beginners can follow and understand. Although this is a very basic shape and design, it was a bit of a challenge to figure out how to make with all clean seams and clearly explain it. I also have two other videos with different methods to make these. Please have a look. Thanks for watching🙏

    Great tutorial! I saw an accessory like this advertised on Facebook. Being the creative person I am, I made a wonky version of it myself out of a scrap of dark brown fabric. It works fine and makes a neat bun but I'm glad to find precise instructions, since I was just "winging" it. I would love to make some pretty like this!

    • @NotchesSewing

      Thanks Lola! Yes someone else mentioned an ad. To be honest, I did not even know these existed 2 weeks ago. There was a post asking how to sew them. After making about 20 samples I came up with this sizing and method so there wouldn’t be any long buttonhole in the middle . I will be posting another easier method for beginners soon too.
      Thanks for watching and please check out some of my other videos.

      @@joleneatolondrado174 If you go through her instruction it says 19 gauge wire. Craft wire and wire you can get in the hardware store is basically the same but the hardware store is cheaper. Thank you for this great tutorial - I am going to make some of these for a Christmas Craft-fair - Do you have an idea of what they might sell for? thanks again!

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 роки тому +2

      Sorry Barbara I'm not sure what they would sell for at craft fair but you can find them online and on Amazon. I actually have never owned one that was store bought. I created this video for a Facebook member that asked for help. You can test out with different sizing and also heavier gauge wire if you need but you can see how it holds my hair and I have also tested on someone with lots of long curly hair and it was fine. Thanks for watching. Please share and check out some of my other videos. I have a few about scrunchies. You may also want to sell those too if you aren't already. All the best!

      Great to hear! You’re so welcomed. I originally came up with this method. If you look at the dates, my video was the first one. I did not invent this as bun makers have been around for a long time but came up with this sewing method as I was asked how could one sew this without a buttonhole opening in the middle. I spent two weeks after work and many samples til got this. The copycat videos came out within days, Some creators even used my thumbnail and parts of my actual video in their own. There’s also lots of thumbnails with red or pink polka dot fabric too.... Sorry for the rant. I appreciate your kind words. Have a look at my other video to make this as you may like that too. I will have a third method soon. Cheers!

    Thank you for the tutorial! I saw the ad on FB and thought I could make it but having instructions makes it much easier. I saw you said "craft" wire but craft wire and wire you can get in the hardware store is basically the same and the hardware store is cheaper with no waiting for delivery. I've found it in the area they sell picture hanging supplies in both Lowes and Home Depot. I discovered this when I had trouble finding craft wire for some bead projects. :)
