as kids we weren't allowed to ride on the fenders until we were about 10 or 11 but we only rode on them when we were in training. by the time i was 8 years old i was running my own 4020. but I only drove the tractors doing tasks like disking or grading the driveway. I was broke in on simple tasks for a couple of years but when I turned 11 I was able to play an important role on the farm. the little guy will soon enough have his day he will grow up fast. nice video.
Like how the rotary takes stand the hay up. No rolling it over or roping. Make sure you stay hydrated in this hot humid weather. It got me bad. A trip to the e.r. 2 i.v. Fluid bags and sitting on the sidelines now for almost a month. I think I learned my lesson
Looks like a nice upgrade in hay rakes. Looks like it stands the windrow up really nice so the air can dry the hay down. Good luck with it if you buy it. Stay safe.
@@mikep7810 roll bar rakes... the NH 256 as an example is great too.. same design since the 50's, in my opinion the less there is to a rake the better it will be. Set up is key with the Kuhn rakes. Slow starts to get them set right and knowing your fields... that goes with all equipment but again as far as small rakes go. There isn't much to them and that's a good thing. They're well designed
It’s certainly doing a nice job. Growing up I used a Claas rotary week that looked very similar to that. The thing I like the looks on the Kuhn is the swivel deflector; the Claas had a slide and pin. Looks really good.
That is a nice rake Mike I looked at it on my way home from Binghamton a couple weeks ago we always like to stop and get gas at the lindisey and sometimes they have something to look at
They hold up fine, I make sure that I keep the teeth out of the ground(1") and they are not made to be in rough ground. If u mess up the gear box, then they are junk. Been running them for 30 plus years. I think ours are like 14ft path, ours has the gold up arms and remove able teeth. I would advise against a twin rodder ,just two big and 30k....
I think you neet the dubble rotor saved a lot of time we have one dubble its an awesome machine thanks Mike have a good day greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
I appreciate you checking out the video. Hope you enjoy your vacation. Maybe down the road we will upgrade to a double rotary but we'll start with this
На этих граблях мы использовали трактор мощностью 70 лошадиных сил, а также трактор мощностью 85 лошадиных сил. Я думаю, у вас мог бы быть трактор мощностью 40-50 лошадиных сил, который мог бы управлять этими граблями.
I love our rotary rake I don't think I could ever go back to a roll bar now lol only annoying thing with ours is taking sharper turns especially with it picked up the pto shaft will hit on the three point arms..maybe you won't have that problem depends on the tractor it's on
Yeah we take the three point hitch arms off our tractors so the only one it would have a problem like that on is the 3010 because the arms are still on that
@@mikep7810 yeah that's a good idea..we would take them off as well if we used them less I don't like having to take them on and off all the time lazy me I guess lol thanks for the video you'll like it if you buy it..that one is just like ours..keep the gearbox greased they're not cheap to replace!
Good job we have them but we don't use them because we had then on are 4440 but then we got new one's and we use the on are 4430 or 4050 and new videos and one today
Hard to tell at this point, I've only used this one in thin hay. I'd like to try it in thick first cutting. The rollbar rake did a good job its just small and getting worn
@@mikep7810 We always hated our rollbar rake when it would "wind" the windrow and wheel rakes never could handle our very heavy hay. My dad broke out & brought back our old New Idea crimper he used when he would use a sickle mower, then crimper, then rake the hay. That 2nd pass with that crimper REALLY helped out drying the hay.
@@mikep7810 After four years the arm shafts start breaking off. And they will all need to be replaced or you will be fixing it everyday. The shield need constant repair and reinforcing. I had water with me that day. Glad to hear you are alright
Always liked the notary rake, leaves the windrow fluffy, the Kuhn that I used was a three point hitch model, thanks for sharing
How did it work out for you
It worked great, the 3 point hitch was great too, allowing me to lift easier
Rotary Rakes do a great job, if I could afford it I would buy a twin center Rotary Rake 👍
I would love to try a twin rotary rake center delivery. I'll have to take baby steps and try this one!

Thank you. I thought it did a nice job
Those are nice rakes. I used to work for a shop that sold equipment from Kuhn. As far as smaller rakes go those are hard to beat
That's good to know. It sounds like a really nice rake. I'm still trying to learn about them

Thanks for checking it out, definitely a great tractor
You'll love it. I have a 6002. Same rake only 2 rotors
Have you had any problems with it?

Fantastic looks a good rake 👍

Hey mike, you will like that rake, I have 2 of them, I like them because they don't rope the hay and dont drag the ground and put dirt in the hay.
Any problems with them not holding up?

I just run an old new Holland roll-a-bar rake and it does my needs, but that thing would be cool to try I know a guy with one.
Its definitely a nice rake

Any thoughts on the trees in front of the barn wearing on the barn someday? It's a neat barn, didn't know if those trees had sentimental value
Just been busy and need to cut them down. Nothing sentimental about them
That little orange thing on the swath curtain falls off on ours too lol
I think it fell off again so I have no idea where it fell

Once you figure it out, you’ll never go back (unless is breaks and you’re forced to)
Just flip the drawbar on the 3010, that’s what I did with mine

Congratulations on being the first! Lol. Yeah that rake looks like it does a nice job
Thanks mikep7810 ! Lol! 😀
Nice little rake. How did you come out on the Peckway teder?
We ended up going with the newer model pequea. Looks a lot better built and excited to get it out in the field

You should have used the 520
Would have been too hard with the little guy. I wanted to put the 520 on the rollbar rake but I have to work on the starter
Ok
My grandpa lives in lindsay. Do you live by lindsay?
Probably about 25 minutes from there
@@mikep7810 oh ok
Does that rotary rake actually flip the hay or just gather/move it to another area?
It doesn't roll it like the rollbar rake rolls it into a row. It looks like taking a fork and sweeping it through the grass and putting it in a row
