Sam, I've been following you for years, even when you bought your first sailboat. Your passion is inspiring, and one day, I will follow your wake once I figure out how to manage diabetes and sailing.
Diabetes should not be more difficult to control on a boat, compared to normal daily life! I take meds to control my blood sugar which is what causes diabetes. I avoid bread, rather eating wraps and drinking Sparkling mineral water - no sugar added.
@@stephenkillick5812 He may need insulin which, unfortunately, is hard to get abroad
If it's T2, HFLC carnivore, keto, ketovore will get you right.
Another brilliant video Sam - Greece is stunning and your adventures are always a huge pleasure to watch! God bless & fair winds, Chris 👍
As I think about my own faith as it relates to Sam, I can’t help but think of “that you might have life, and life abundantly”. I don’t know if Sam thank God for the life he has been given or not. But, when I think that the righteous should live by faith (Hebrews 11) I can’t help but wonder if Sam is an example we all should follow. My prayer today: “God, where are you leading me today.”
Beyond relaxing. Great content to watch while I’m eating. Thanks for uploading
Sam is my favoritist sail boater on the tubes!
Sailing is: Learning the 1001 different colors of blue!
What beautiful superblue water!
Been watching you for a few seasons.... At age 35 I picked up a Barnett butterfly 12' scow. I've been sailing 4 times so far! Never thought about sailing before, you inspired me.
1:17 Safety First - what a cute lil freighter
Just got my food and saw Sam posted a video? Can't get better than that! 😂😂
11:20 words to live by. I had to replay it a few times ... Thanks! 👍😎
I'm also currently cruising Greece and can confirm, that Sahara dust was pretty wild. Gotta say Sam, I'm currently living on a boat due in no small part to your videos. Watched for years, finally bought a 1978 Dufour 31 this March and now exploring the Dodecanese. Would be epic to meet you in person if you come this way!
Right on. The plan is to sail west from Malta in a few weeks. Enjoy!
Enjoying the series. Have been following since the Hawaii trip . Keep on sailing!
Wow! Talk about blue water, that was absolutely amazing.
I can't believe you did all these trips with a Cap Dori 28 ! fantastic. ! super. ! keep the ball rolling..
Brightened my day Sam. So looking forward to sailing Soldemar, (my Rival 34) in the Scottish Hebrides this summer. Like the video editing by the way. Matt 😎⛵🌊
Sam dosen't wait around to share the beach with tourists. You make good use of the drown. Thanks.
Damn, just gorgeous coast line...........wow.
Always a vibe sir always a pleasure when I catch a chance at viewing your travel experiences.
Hey Sam, I started your videos over from the Ballstronaut, Sheetz Fandom, and Wicked Unicycling skills, and now I'm all caught up. Your northern Europe and Med adventures have been very cool. - Larry
Thanks for sharing! I don't think you have to worry about missing anything "good" - you're a "venturing out" kind of guy! Love your life and lifestyle - keep on keeping on.
Awesome videos..
Brings back so many enjoyably memories sailing charter fleet boats from Turkey to Greece then we sailed 2 to Antiqua from Malta.. double handed with my brother one trip, then we singled 2 boats to Antiqua..talk about into the deep end a swim like crazy..
But Greece, great cheap food and wine .. and hoards of Swedish gals..
That is the most pastel light blue I have ever seen water that didn't have some weird algae bloom in it. Even the Carribean islands water has more of a green tint to it. Beautiful!
i found this 3d printable catch handle thing for the mini 3.. its basically a handle that looks like a T with 2 arms sticking out and hinges on the top for a screw.. i think it fits on 4 aswell.. and i bet you could transform it in cura to fit 2 aswell.. it would however put a stick under your drone so if you attempted to land on an island it would tip over and possibly dammage your props.. still cheaper than fumbelling a catch and losing your badboy to davey jones though.. its a 1 time print with hinges and although the creater says you need screws, a ziptie works just as good.. and quicker to release
Good for you Sam, your really living the life. That water is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Incredible Drone footage ❤
Great video Sam!
The drone shots were off the hook.
You are living the dream. Great for you, we love your drip!
Your videos are awesome!! I've been following you since the beginning and your videos just keep getting better and better!! ⛵⛵⛵
I love Greece. Really enjoying your videos Sam. Malta is on my list of places one day.
Always enjoy your videos Sam. I like the drone footage.
Great video. The drone shots of Greece 🫶
You are the coolest! love your whole character! Be safe!
I remember how stiff and heavy the new sails were when you were rigging them. Glad they worked out.
You are an inspiration Sam. Thank you
Rare to have shipwreck bay to oneself! So NOW you are going to Malta, great; shouldn't be missed.
I always find it amusing when tourists get mad when other tourists show up
Great episode Sam - love the drone footage.
Nice work Sam. Greece looks so beautiful, the water looks amazing and I can't wait to sail there some day soon. ....I'm almost sold on Hull Shield too!
Wishing you a safe passage to Malta. -PV
Thanks!
Funny. Been to both the shipwreck cove and that beach you went for a swim at in 2021. Small world. Safe travels, sam
You may already use it, bot some blue locktite helps with the things that have self loostening fastners.
Hello Sam,
Nice to see you again in that beautiful blue water.
After seen video of Patrick Laine, Eric from nbjs, and Jacqueline from sailing Loveworkx, like you real person with real balls…
Cheers
i am so jealous, enjoy your content, Thanks.
Brilllllliant Sam - thanks for sharing ⛵️ 👍
My pleasure!
Excellent capturing of the sailing conditions, untouched shoreline, beaches and natural beauty of the coast (as per usual). I bet you'll miss that in Malta, But practically treeless Malta seems like the place to go for creature comforts a city can provide for sure. Others' videos of Malta make it seem very claustrophobic. I'll look forward to your reactions to it.
Thank you, Sam!
Godspeed buddy....from Oriental,N.C.❤
Really sweet. You are quite an adverterure!
My favorite sailing UA-camrs are solos. Latly it seems love is in the air. Both James and Holly are hooked up with significant others now leaving me less to look forward to each week. Lol.
I've been single all but 1yr in the last 24 and I guess I take comfort in others being as miserable and lonely as me. Hahaha!
Sail on Sam! 😊
Awesome video
Hull Shield ultrasonic antifouling sounds good. (Sounds, geddit?!?)
Great video! Greetings from Italy
Wow what a beautiful place
Hi Sam, We had 2 ultrasound protectors on our 40' Delphia perfectly working for years, I like your videos.
Good to know!
I know zante well I worked there for 2 years loved the keri caves
Wow I remember that wreck when I was there, it was almost a complete ship. The way the rust has eaten away the steel is amazing, I tried to work out when I was last there, turns out it was almost twenty years ago. How time flies I really did not think it was that long ago.
I loved sailing the Greek islands it was such a wonderful place. Sadly now with the new rules it's not so easy to spend enough time in the Med to see it all, I think it's 90 days in any 180 day period.
If you want to leave your boat there, after two years you are required to register it in one of the Schengen countries and pay a huge import tax.
Schengen rule is stupid but as far as the boat tax, you can just sail to Albania or Montenegro or Turkey for a day and then return for another two years tax free.
Sam, I have been using my solar panels and a piece of green astroturf as a launch pad for my drone. I always worry about hitting a stay or shroud.
Just been to Zakynthos 4 weeks ago and its one of the most beautiful islands i have visited. The water was super cold btw.
That bay with the ship wreck in it looks an awfull lot like the place where I have seen base jumpers go off the cliff and land next to the ship. Usually there are lots of party boats anchored there.
Beautiful place Sam ❤
That water is the most beautiful blue!
To avoid kinks in anchor rode, use 12 strand nylon, it is far more flexible compared to 3 strand.
Beautiful vid
That water looks extremely wet! CHEERS from HERE!
glad to see you out there still living the life for all us sinners...
Sam often says "we" at the beginnings of his videos referring only to himself and then I spend the rest of the video looking for Ann-Elin.
Greece is absolutely the most beautiful country in the World. You should drone Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia sometime.....I'm there in July for the 14th time.
Sam, I saw a book recommend in the wall street journal today: "Sailing Alone" : Solo at Sea, by Richard King....might be interesting read for you.
I'd feel totally at ease w Sam at the helm - no matter the condition.
Cool that hull shield work, but man that is expensive. I wonder if those are not just piezo transducers with a simple circuit and a weight.
Yes it would be awesome if someone could devise a cheap DIY version. If you’re boat is small enough for one transducer though, $500 is still less than a haul out and a couple gallons of good bottom paint.
@@samholmessailing True, it's not that bad compared to the paint and all the trouble.
I just checked it out on the site and I think that's what it is, probably a few dollars of part per devices.
I always enjoy your videos, thanks Sam. I wonder if you will be heading to Tunisia in the next few weeks? I will be sailing there soon...Fair winds!
Yes that is the plan. Probably mid june
If i see you, i will buy you a coffee!
The blue water is the result of the limestone cliffs being eroded by the sea. The microscopic particles in the water make the sea a turquoise colour. So that beautiful colour is your islands dissolving!
The windward side wind is called “burro”. Donkey. = the kicking wind by the Venetians 😊
This will be a trip down memory lane for sure. Is there still a cruising fee for yachts in Greek waters?. Used to be quite a steep one.
Sam awesome to watch you. I've owned Cape Dory's from Typhoon to 22 to 27 now a Typhoon. Which CD are you in now? I noticed 4 bronze ports. Thank you you're inspiring me to sell everything and sail away.
Im on the 28
The cargo ship at 1.30 is a fuel ship, used to fill larger vessels off shore
Thanks for the info
You appeared briefly on Simon Whiltlers new Side projects, near the beginning.
lol
We did a cruise from Athens to Istanbul last year... I wonder if we passed you
That WATER!
Couldn’t quite hear what the name was of the anti- fouling system you were, initially skeptical of, but now impressed with. Could you clarify please. Thanks.
Hull shield
Dude if you're in Crete over next few weeks love to meet for a beer!
Rockstar!
Hi Sam. Nice video again, funny that anti growth system really works. Question: your windpilot does mot have a chain but has grip cleats. How does that work for you? Do you keep adjusting these lines or is it fix once and then only the course/degree line on the windpilot? I want to switch from chain ( too much slack, loosens itself) to your idea.
What a shame you not visit the Island Kefalonie, so besutifull there, you mis a lot
I sailed there last year. There are over a thousand greece islands. Not realistic to sail to all of them but Ive sailed to around 20 and I think Ive got the gist of them. Time to move on to new places.
@@samholmessailing ok Grreece is my favorite area to ssil in the past👍😁
Sam, we're you heaved to when you first launched the drone? Looked like an odd configuration
"I hope I dont just crash this drone" - You. "I hope it doesnt just fly away like the other one" - Me. 😆
Hello Sam my friend , what’s the auto pilot you have there please?👊
Looks like there’s some new lines forward, did you make some changes to your rigging?
A couple of small styro foam pontoons on your drone might save it.
I experiment with Styrofoam floats previously and they seem to work, but if there’s any wind, the drone flies pretty badly
@@samholmessailing Just enough flotation perhaps on the body of the drone? least change to surface area?
Could you make a video of how to clear in and out of a country with a sailboat. Which papers are needed and all that?
you need passport and ship registration. Sometimes you might also need insurance, radio license, & skipper license.
Every country is different. The one consistent requirement is to carry a yellow flag until cleared in. In the worse cases, it can involve going to four different offices (immigration, customs, Port captain, health etc.) Plus getting the boat inspected and sometimes it's as easy as checking in online. Europe, in general, is much easier than Asia or Central America.
@@stephenburnage7687 Thank you.
@@stephenburnage7687 Would you generally need a visa ahead of time like general tourism?
@BlueHen123 Depends so much on which passport you have - US/Canadian/European citizens have an easier time than (say) South African or Pakistani citizens. Each country has its unique rules, depending on your citizenship. Moreover, the rules for entering by sea are sometimes different from arrival by air. For instance, the US allows visa free entry by air (for many but not all passports) but requires a visa for entry by sea - one reason many cruisers do not stop in the US Virgin Islands, for instance. Around the world, cruisers spend a lot of time studying these sorts of issues.
Greece is a lot happier vibe than Italy
Have you gotten your motor mounts refitted yet? I don’t recall seeing anything about that in your vids.
Not yet, but you just reminded me to send them an email
Do you still have that other sailboat you were using in FL or did you sell it? (Not sure if you named that boat)
Is Greece the very best cruising grounds in the world?
Greece certainly holds a few highly rank spots for me
@samholmessailing I vote the Greek Islands; the Inside Passage (BC, Canada) and French Polynesia as the top three cruising grounds in the world.
How often do you run across pirates? And is it a real thing and should a guy worry about it? Please answer i'm a good follower
Ive not run across any yet
Am I mistaken - you bought your current boat in LA for a 30' all GRP Vessel and had the pick of a few choices for $10 000?
Any reason you don't launch the drone off of the solar panels? Would allow you to have both hands free.
It’s very close to the backstay, and I’ve crashed two drones from flying into the backstay.
Love the drone shots 🙂
Is that the cave Jason went trough ?
Great drone work , is this your music ?
To sail today or sail tomorrow?? Sam needs a magic 8-ball
❤
