If we have learned nothing else, it is clear that no one is prohibited from sailing because they don't have money for a boat. There are plenty out there for the taking for anyone who wants one. Sailing is, like playing piano, a skill that few are able or willing to learn. As someone who loves conspiracy, I am convinced that half the people with boats in hurricane prone areas actually loosen the lines and update insurance policies when storms come a calling. Sam is a great source of inspiration for anyone considering live on sailboats. If you are someone envious of this lifestyle, just get out there and network and find the person with the dream of sailing that has lost interest. Plenty of them out there.

I'd recommend picking up a couple extra swim ladder rubber feet and stick them where you plan to put the bimini connector that way you avoid getting water inside and also prevent accidentally bumping into it and cutting yourself.

Sam I lost your channel and just last night I finally found it. I have so many adventures and crossings to watch. I love sailboats, and they're so beautiful. Especially when you score, a cozy boat to make your own. This is my 1st season with my new 2023 14ft solo skiff, which I can take a friend, with no issues. I've had a new12 ft Hobie PA 12, and my Hobie PA 14. But I wanted my Solo skiff with a 6hp outboard, and a bow mounted I-pilot spotlock trolling motor. I added all my batteries, lights, accessories, DIY's, and add-ons. I'm in Marathon FL. I fun fish the flats, mangroves, Backcountry, and I'll go 5 miles offshore. Or I'll just do recon trips. Me and my buddies also do four camp/ Fish trips a year, on our boats to different islands. Torqueedo is perfect, for your new boat. I had the 403 and 1103. Anyway, I go out three days a week. And it's pure therapy. Stay safe and enjoy your dreams. She's coming out beautiful! 🙏 ⛵ 🌊

Thanks for sharing. Love the electric motor. Just a suggestion but you might want to ship and store your fenders while under way. I did not notice but if there was a way to adjust the downhaul for the boom you might be able to get the mainsail tighter. If at all possible, you may want to bring the tack of the jib closer to the deck if the halyard does not allow you to bring the head of the jib any higher. Wingfoiling and sailing in the same day. Priceless.

Hi Sam, Glad you like your alcohol stove - we love ours! Our trick to lighting it is to use a pipette to add some alcohol to the bowl under the ring, rather than pump alcohol up from the reservoir, then light it - that way you avoid any large yellow flames.

I had two Torqeedo batteries that died like you said: They would go for a while then drop to nothing. Keep then out of hot cars (I think exposure to heat damaged them). But even with proper care, I have found that the batteries last around five years, and it doesn't depend on how much you use them.
Other than the expense of batteries, I like my Torqeedo motor, for what I use it for.

I love watching Sam and I pray that all of my fellow viewers are inspired in some way to live more fully. Many are Biblically ignorant. We are not going to heaven because we are bad or good, because we all fall short. Instead, we are saved by faith like Noah. God in human form (Jesus) made it possible for us to fully live our lives by faith. What is it that you feel God pulling at you to do today that you are afraid to do? Like Sam, I urge you to GO for IT. Live by faith. Perfect love casts out ALL fear. Thank you Sam for living by faith and documenting it us for us all to see. Your light does indeed shine and inspire.

Great new boat Sam. Cut the stitching that’s holding the bolt ropes and let them suck up into the tabling. They don’t have to go the whole way up. It’s not the cloth, the bolt ropes have shrunk over time. Good luck!
