I do agree with everyone else that the swap of the hand texture/ ice world was a shame, but this is definitely a strong start! Looking forward to seeing how this progresses!
As someone who does a lot of theatre. There is a rule in most improv (Improvised) games or warmups we do called "Yes, And" which basically if the person you're with says something like "You burnt the pie" you don't go "No I didn't. It's completely fine" because you're doing what's called Blocking which is where you disregard or don't allow someone's idea to progress, Instead you would go "Yes I did.... And I also heard some meowing near the oven earlier as well" which contributes to the joke. This is something that I see happening quite a lot in these X amount of Devs make a game challenge but there's always someone that sort of just steps all over other peoples work to do their own thing as opposed to contributing it. Whether they realise it or not is irrelevant but it happens often on these videos and it really gets in the way of both an enjoyable video and most importantly the collaboration of these developers who took time out of their day to participate in this challenge. It's a hard thing to regulate as sometimes changes are needed, sometimes cuts are necessary or sometimes redesigns are needed but there needs to be some guideline of sorts that prevents Devs from removing things. Especially the Ice Level which didn't need to go. There's 75 more Devs on the way who could've made use of that and might make use of it if the files are still there. It's a shame because I really enjoy this concept of video but it's just getting so hard to enjoy them when stuff like this happens and having seen the comments from previous videos I know I'm not the only one.
eh, 100 hours is basically nothing in dev time. I think allowing devs one working day each would lead to far more chaos. After all, if they are not allowed enough time for creativity to guide their hands towards chaos there won't be much chaos. Gotta give time for the intrusive thoughts to win.@@TwiggyMC
They probably start with 1 hours and get more time the further the project goes on... they can't do all that work with just barely an hour of viewing, testing and coding
They have to delete things to improve the game. Otherwise things can get buggy real fast. I think they saw it as an upgrade rather than replacing but I’m sure a future dev will fix it due these comments lol
Perhaps it could be based on where they are in the sequence. Devs in the "early phases" of the development are told not to delete stuff, but late-phase devs are allowed to clean things up to make the game coherent.
@@ElectricIrothey're arguably the same I think, just people don't see the difference. If you write some code and I delete it and rewrite it so it does something slightly different that's sort of the same as if you make some art and I delete it and redraw it to make it look slightly different. At least in my opinion they're equivalent. But I agree with the general premise that people should be thoroughly encouraged to enhance/build on top of, rather than remove. I guess in people's defence sometimes it is hard in these rapidly-developed games to determine what is placeholder and what was intended to be in the final game.

This is gonna be extremely interesting to see unfold, and I'm super stoked for the final result! That being said, I feel like teamwork should be more emphasized when 'touching up' other devs things. Saying a level looks poor, then ruining the ice theme completely and making it equally as poor (He admits his is bad as well), seemed counter-productive teamwork wise. AND WHERE'S FIRE?
Wishbone: So, I threw out the entire aesthetic of the project and made terrible replacements because the originals looked like shit. Oh, yea. The throwable feature in the ice map was a casualty of my changes.
So, we have unprofessional behavior and unnecessarily removing assets. Yea, I think "innovate, not remove" really needs to become a rule for these projects. The only reason I kept going through the video was to see if anyone threw out Wishbone's work in turn. Sadly, they did not. Here's to hoping someone adds a hub world like the tower in Gauntlet Legends and brings back the ice world.
12:13 I love how this guy didn’t completely change the model to fix a problem, he just retextured the already existing textures slightly to make it more visually appealing.
Yep I think we’re all in agreement…Wishbone completely ruined the unique art style that was going by adding something completely out of place for no reason. Basically moral of what he said was “I didn’t like the other art that was done so I did it myself” when he had never done a day of art in his life. Hopefully he didn’t fully delete the old hand art in the project file and it can come back at some point but it seems like with the ice arena he made his over the other and deleted the old one, so I’m assuming he just deleted the old hand design completely for his ego.
deadass all he did was waste his time chancing assets that needed no chance when other devs were adding and moving the project forwards or fixing bugs
@@macun8424 He made a placeholder for 3d hands to move the project forward

@@harrasika Really? So what should devs do? Add nothing? @@bonniechannel Devs should implement actual useful features, not replace things with objectively worse alternatives. You are one of the very few people here who actually think that the 3D hand fits the game more than the 2D hand, thus you're objectively wrong. what a cool video idea, i really hope no one messes with the ui or art style

@@AIAdev bro's mind gaming us🤣
@@AIAdev HHAHAHAHA! that. is. hilarious.

The guy changing the ice map for grass got me furious
Love how he said each dev gets an hour yet they drop the facade entirely bit by bit and just start telling us they really get 3 hours XD
Honestly, would be more interesting to see a project by 100 devs that each get a day's worth of time (that is to say a working day so 8-12 hours).
@ShiningDarknes it would but I was looking forward to a chaotic mess of a game from only an hour at a time
eh, 100 hours is basically nothing in dev time. I think allowing devs one working day each would lead to far more chaos. After all, if they are not allowed enough time for creativity to guide their hands towards chaos there won't be much chaos. Gotta give time for the intrusive thoughts to win.@@TwiggyMC
I think they just noticed after a few Devs an hour just wasn't enough to see what the game may be about and then also add something
They probably start with 1 hours and get more time the further the project goes on... they can't do all that work with just barely an hour of viewing, testing and coding
You still need to add the rule that 1 dev shouldn't be able to delete stuff from other devs. The ice map and the hand got changed for no reason.
They have to delete things to improve the game. Otherwise things can get buggy real fast. I think they saw it as an upgrade rather than replacing but I’m sure a future dev will fix it due these comments lol
@@Justheretowatchvids365 Improving and cleaning the code is one thing, but replacing ideas and visuals is another
I feel like it should follow improv rules with the "yes and.." method that way creativity is expanded on and nobody's work gets out to waste
I guess in people's defence sometimes it is hard in these rapidly-developed games to determine what is placeholder and what was intended to be in the final game.
pontypants did nothing in that hour. true game development right there

That being said, I feel like teamwork should be more emphasized when 'touching up' other devs things.
Saying a level looks poor, then ruining the ice theme completely and making it equally as poor (He admits his is bad as well), seemed counter-productive teamwork wise.
Same with the hand switch-up, while I respect the change, I feel like you shouldn't change the 'style' of a 'single' thing when the entire game has a style already.
TL;DR : Good job guys! Teamwork makes the dream work!

Yeah that was such a cool idea. Loved it. I'm weirdly sad about, that this person just deleted it..
Well it's been 2 months. Where is part 2?
@3:45 "a game that is battle royale, but magic" Yeah that game was called Spellbreak and it flopped super hard they had to shut down the servers. I thought it was really fun and had lots of potential, but they flooded their servers with bots to try to make up for the lack of players, but this made the remaining players not want to play anymore because 9/10 players in a match were actually bots that had the AI pathing of toddlers
The first hands were so much better. Why do people just delete stuff instead of adding on whats already there..
Also I loved the idea with the nailpolish representing what spell you have equipped. Idk if a game already did that but it's an amazing idea. Very sad this person just deleted it.
Maybe they should add some basic rules, so stuff like this doesn't get lost. Idk if that would go against the idea of the video, but I think so much cooler games would turn out. And people have to learn to adapt/get out of their comfort zone, wich is always a good skill to improve on.
Dude literally saw the pixel art style, saw the enemies, saw the map, and decided to ruin the already made amazing hand sprite. I swear to god it bothered me so much throughout the video, without that guy the game would have been perfect.
Loved the chaos with how everyone went their own way, the change to the right hand sprite kinda bugged me, looked fine but was a weird choice with the rest of the visual style, other than that everything looked great
that change killed the project, we have great devs trying to make the best base for the game that they can, and we always have unbanned devs that destroy everyone else's work for no reason
Definitely needed a "only innovate" rule. Everything was going fine until Wishbone decided to revert others progress in place of his own.

That doesnt excuse the fact that he removed and replaced a couple people's work that when he finished was mediocre in comparison. He didn't even try to imitate the artstyle.
