Like many of your readers, I do agree with your wife about the aesthetic. I do not know how to articulate it, but I wouldn't wear this. The crazy thing is.... I don't like the whole look from afar, but if you zoom in and look at all of the design elements individually it is just incredible and perfect. The watch is incredibly beautifully made (as all Habring2 watches are), but I just don't love the look overall. That being said, this is 100% an absolute steal for the price. Would still be a steal at another $3000 - $4000 more. Define watches are the best, I no longer live in Australia, but just got a Hanhart 417 ES and Sinn 104a from Peter and love the watches as much as I love Peter and his wife (who is gorgeous by the way)! Keep up the great work!!
I watched that video over and over again. This is the first time I saw a watch that impressed and stunned me that much. Of course craftsmanship and finishing are very close to perfect, but what attracted me so much is the design, this watch is simply gorgeous. As I understand from comments this is a polarizing design language. I think thats because of thin font of arabic numerals and we generally see wide fonts on watches. This is also the first time I see a watch and dont wanna change any part of it, even any small detail. Added to my whishlist. Maybe will be a future classic
I hear the words beautiful and stunning bandied around all the time but in this case they are exactly the words I would use. What a lovely piece that would enhance any collection.
With the recent controversies in the grey market hopefully more people will turn to Habring. Not only are they a highly accurate time pieces, but the owner has a watch hand made by one of the great watchmakers, Richard Habring.
Undoubtedly this is a beautiful and elegant watch. The movement is a masterpiece. I may he nitpicking here but personally I would have done something about the oddly emty space between the pinion and the 6.
Your wife knows damn well about watches, this is a chrono, so she's right! 😜 Well now, let us be a bit serious (although Greeks😂), this is a great watch and mechanism/movement, still... i'd get another Habring, even as a solo watch. Cheers Peter, be well mate. PS Hope all your family back home are well. Since we got that goddamnit (γκαντεμης...) PM, everything goes bad. Guess it's a heritage from his (alike) father! Things are going to be really tough from now on, Greece is losing a lot of her prime-production power.
The rattrapante complication is absolutely mesmerizing to me, I really enjoy what Habring has on offer here. Sorry to hear the Mrs. doesn’t appear to be a fan of pandas. Shame, really, they’ve got such great personalities 😅
I can't thank you enough for this analysis Peter! I was always intrigued by the brand but couldn't find an answer myself. You did such a beautiful and emotional review I must say unknowingly I was onto something.... Not taking any credit at all. Strange but true.. And the price point considering is not even high. From this, all their other models are on a similar level of idealism I presume. My hat's off to them and to you...
@PeterKotsa Hi Peter. Hope you're having a great weekend. I was just about to purchase one at Define (My wife's from Oz and my Mother in Law was gonna bring it over) however I felt like Define raised the prices... Could I be wrong?
I have been living and working in Austria for the past couple of years. Habring is loved and respected by the local watch community. While I am a fan of the brand, I have to agree with your wife as I don't care for panda dials.
Hi Peter, Habring2 wstches are in a class of its’ own aren’t they. One thing however, I don’t think Richard id doing any handfinishing on his movements. And the movement parts are produced by suppliers. Though it is done 100% on his specifications and design, it isn’t technically in-house is it? Ps. I own a Habring3 LAB02 Erwin
Never thought I'd say this, but I'd prefer the Submariner. This video is doing more spin than Tonya Harding, but I've come to expect that on this channel.
Should you go for that one watch approach, your wife won't be very happy then. Joking aside, I can see and appreciate how superbly this is executed. It jumps off the screen and it even boasts with that split seconds functionality. It's refined in all it's details and has horological prowess under the hood that looka attractive. And yet, for me, at first glance the dial did feel oddly balanced (sort of agreeing with your wife), although I do like the white lumed markers, the black concentric circles, the brushed silver dial, and the fine printing. I also like the style and colour scheme of the hands, and I like how white, silver, black, heat blue, and green strap work together. The transitions on the case are excellent. Yet, there is something off about the proportions too me. Perhaps it results from that unusually sloped rehaut... but I'm not sure. The hour hand also looks just on the short, stumper, side for my liking. The case height is still too high for me, especially as a daily, and this is emphasized by the top-expanding cylinder. That too, while I like the idiosyncrasy of that construction, feels slightly off balanced. And because you end up with a mainly dial 41mm watch viewed face-on, it also comes across a bit too large. None of that spoils just how impressive it is too, but I couldn't quite like it to the same degree. I can, however, imagine that the same minds could come up with something that I would find rather irresistible. (Not that the wallet could take it.)
Strangely enough, I have been looking at tis piece on Defines website for a while and it didn't speak to me, therefore never asked to see it. I decided a few weeks ago, let me have a close look in the steel, because something kept on drawing me back. I gotta be honest, its spectacular as a package in the hand and on the wrist..for me of course !! The hardest part of this review is having to give it back...and also dealing with all the people who sided with my wife..😂😂
@@PeterKotsa❤ at distance she must be an expert, at least on what she likes to see on you. Someone who changes so regularly will draw attention to his wrist. I suppose I might find that in the metal I'm completely won over. For now I stick with that I deeply appreciate and recognise the quality, but there are some visual balances that don't quite work for me. But then, my hypothetical only watch is unlikely to be a split second chronograph, notwithstanding its functionality.
@@PeterKotsa Me too... this is an empty dial... maybe in some other color variation. Masterfully well written and produced review Pete. I was really somewhere else.
I think my wife is going to invite ALL of you who sided with her over for a cup of coffee and a chat about my BAD taste in watches..😂 That said, I still love the look of this piece, I stand my ground 😊
Peter. After all my comments on your video, looks like I'm selling my Aqua Terra 2503.50 ha ha ha ....damn this hobby man I got myself a beautiful example of the Seamaster 2541.80 Goldeneye and its just so much more usable. Quartz movement that has not lost or gained a second all week, a gorgeous blue bezel and wave dial, 11mm thick and 300m water resistance. I mean come on! And nearly a grand cheaper than the Aqua Terra.... also a beautiful case back, great lume.... and I'm getting a blue Zealande rubber strap for it... So yes. I guess nothing was sacred. Even the Aqua Terra P.s. one big bonus is how much easier it is to read the time. I found in certain light, the Aqua Terra was not usable
If you're buying your first watch and intend to beautify yourself for the ladies .... then no sub-dials. If you're building a collection or have already married ... complications time.
Your wife might be onto something - it looks like a dinner plate with "evil eyes". The movement reminds me of one of those sea-gull movements you see on some of those AliExpress chronos.
Sorry peter id have to agree with your wife on this one too. Although it is just beautifully made , proportionally it does look like a £10 market stall watch. I instantly disliked it. Not fond of the hand set either , too thick to read the sub dials . I think the face is too big and the dials look like eyes . I didnt like the lume colour either, it should have been green , for that style of watch. The side view of the watch was fantastic, but it just doesnt do it for me overall. Sorry me old mucka , but if everyone thought the same , it would be a boring old world for sure . My mrs got me a san martin , which is based on the tudor bb pro , albeit a cream face , and i just love it. It was only £180 , and the quality and accuracy is just amazing. Its actually questioned my whole outlook on spending large amounts of $ on another watch. I know its an homage but then nearly every watch is , by design these days. I predict the chinese could seriously damage the swiss watch makers , like seiko did in the 70s with the quartz. Im not saying they will kill off the likes of rolex etc... but they could impact the likes of oris, certina , longines, mido , alpina etc... The lower tier luxury watches could all suffer because the Chinese are certainly upping their game now, and the quality is outstanding for the price. Its easy to say it wont happen but samsung started out as a cheap brand , and was miles behind sony , but they arent now. Kia have come a long way in the car industry, in a relatively short space of time. I think a lot of watch companies with a rich history, could find it counts for nothing in the world we live today. The likes of seiko, making watches with mineral glass , non screwing crowns , and average bracelets , but still charging $500 or more , will be long gone in 5 years time , i believe. It will be compete or die , for a lot of them. Sorry ive waffled on for so long, but great vid as always pete !!!
Hi brother, no need to apologise and thansk for waffling on..haha As for this piece, there is something special about it having it in the hand. On the website and even in my video it does not do this watch justice...but thats just my 2 cents worth Nonetheless, the lume is indeed GREEN bro..it only looks blue because I shone my uv light on it during taping.. Enough said from me too, unfortunately packaging this up today and sending it back 😢
Agree with what your wife and many people have commented. Although technically superb, the design of this and all Habrings I've seen is really poor. They just don't appeal to me visually.
Love Habring2. Amazing watches and incredible quality. They’ve won 4 GPHG awards and I think they’ll continue to make great contribution to horology.
Couldn't agree more!
At first glance I couldn't fathom how this could be worth "Rolex money," but that movement and that split second feature is pretty awesome!
Its really beautiful in the hand Dave, maybe one day I will make a watch like this..the ONE👍
Pete this watch is a marvel. What a in-house movement. High quality stuff.
Agreed 👍
The Habring is stunning
Simply gorgeous. I'd take this over any mainstream brand.
What a stunner Peter. Thanks for the share!
My pleasure!
An absolutely beautiful piece of art.

That’s my issue with it.
That's why most brands put "automatic", "xx jewels" that for me are totally redundant and unnecessary.

I would take a Habring 2, any Habring 2, over a Rolex every day of the week.
what about this one compared to chrono felix 38mm? what made you took this one over chrono felix? the split second function? or anything else?

Yep..but in the scheme of things, when compared to other mid to high horology items, this is really well priced
This is NOT a 38mm chrono. If the bezel measures 41, then the watch is a 41, not a 38.
