I am curious if you can listen to music from the lighting port on your iphone while the phone is connected via Bluetooth to wireless carplay? This could be tested with headphones.

I'm pretty sure you need an android head unit with built in Carplay hardware. If your unit hasn't you DO need to buy a dongle. This is why everyone is getting an error

It is true that you need CarPlay pre installed. It is on a chip that needs to be present on the unit’s motherboard I think…. The dongles you buy have this chip inside. Some cheaper dongles simply carry the software and a Bluetooth chip and make the connection “wireless “ that way. Tlink zlink etc just use the units built in Bluetooth and provides the software to access wireless

If you have an android head unit you will have play store. If you don’t have google play store you probably don’t have an android head unit, just a 3rd party software like Sony or kenwood etc

My Zlink version is 3.9, I have understood that version 4.04 or higher will be able to do wireless Android Auto. I managed to get a Zlink version 4.037, but when I installed it, I got Channel err! I'm a little confused. the whole point of Apple CarPlay is for handsfree operation. Siri should be able to handle these functions without touching the screen. Helpful video but like others after installation people demonstrate how to use Apple Carplay but don't use Siri which to me is the whole point. (Shrugs shoulders)

@@LuisAguilar-wy4ef it would not install on my stereo. I bought an apple Carplay dongle instead. But before I bought it, I made sure I could install their app. When it arrived, I connected it, made sure Bluetooth and WiFi were connected and it worked.
Try making sure you're WiFi and Bluetooth are connected.

i think it work just because on android infotainment you can download other app...in my unit i can't and the dongle is the only way to put carplay wireless

Unless you have an android head unit that’s aftermarket which lets you download apps and supports CarPlay it probably won’t work

Dear sir, I have a 2013 Nissan Altima. It didn’t come with Apple CarPlay. I’m not tech savvy, but I can figure things out myself along the way. I’m following you so far as turning the Bluetooth on your iPhone, but when you say to turn the Bluetooth on the android device, that’s where you lose me? My vehicle will only connect my iPhone for the phones, sake to talk over the speaker. There’s no other Bluetooth/turn on/seeking function that I’m aware of? if there’s an additional plug-in device that I need to purchase, could you please let me know what it is? Hello. This is for Android head units only. You're car comes with an OEM stereo which does not support Apple CarPlay.

Hi, I do have Tlink and CarPlay works through it via USB wired. But even after having the Bluetooth connected to the head unit, Tlink is stuck in “waiting”. It only connects when wired. Any way to fix this?
You can only use one or the other. If it does not work on Bluetooth, you will need one of those wireless adapters.
