That voice.
The hair
The legs
Great performer who overcame so much.
Fabulous artist!
And she makes those wigs herself, at her home in Italy. She's apparently very skilled at it. Apparently it's like a form of meditation for her.
@@s.mcpherson6354 oh wow. Cool. Never knew that.
@@s.mcpherson6354 Tina lived in Switzerland, not Italy.
@@jmcquown You're right, I miswrote. It's a 15 year old interview, but I remember she was working on the wig on a brick terrace overlooking the ocean, which you couldn't do at her Swiss home. It was done from her place in Nice, France, (she has many homes).
Tina is legendary. Beautiful woman with a great voice.
She sang a duet with Bryan Adams, in 1985, called "Its Only Love".
bro i thought it was a transexual singing xD ngl
@@kingsaka5042 lol. You did not!🤣😂
Incredible stage chemistry between them. Of course, they have it in spades each, so when you put them together...
@@OgreProgrammer Unfortunately not long for this world very ill, recovering from a stroke, what a great performer so energetic.
@@chrisalldis3375 - Tina = Queen of all queens.
"IT" is.....attraction. Too many people equate being attracted to people to being in love when it's not. She also admits the way she was feeling scared her. If you've ever been in love and hurt bad...you can be cautious. She tried to down play love (protecting herself) calling it "a second hand emotion" while telling herself at the same time it was ONLY...chemistry/attraction.
^ Here's your answer Brad & Lex!
Here’s what I’ve deduced from watching a few of their videos: Brad is one of those judgmental personality types. He forms judgements then asks questions-not out of intellectual curiosity or because he actually wants answers but because he wants to suggest that he’s smart and everyone else isn’t up to par. He seems like the argumentative type that would argue with you about the color of the sky for years on end.
Lex is actually very smart, but she dumbs herself down to appease him and avoid confrontation. I think that’s why their relationship works. It works in the context of reacting/review as well. She softens his sharp edges and makes their videos more tolerable. Lex is amazing in more ways than she probably realizes.
That’s not to take anything away from Brad in the context of reacting. I’d venture to guess that he has issues which he can’t help. Their dynamic works like magic in the context of reviews/reacting and it’s why they have so many subscribers. In a context outside of reacting/reviews-that’s tough.
But yeah, I don’t think he’s actually looking for an explanation unless it’s in support of what he already thinks. What I think a lot of these young people don’t understand is that art is not meant to be literal. Music is art and in a lot of ways it’s intentionally ambiguous so the consumer can interpret it their own way. “It” is whatever it means to you.
Perfect!
Exactly! If you know about her marriage with Ike Turner & the abuse she went through, you would probably get it. Brad, I like your trying to get the full meaning from each song but there are many songs that REALLY don't have a full or complete meaning but just sound great. I think you should just try more to enjoy the music & song in general. Brad & Lex Rock!
I think you idolize Lex, which is not a good thing.
You also do not notice how much more insecure she is in existence than Brad.
And your last remark shows to me you haven't got a clue about real art either; if anything goes, then nothing goes as well ... 😁
Brad & Lex, you’ll love her “Better Be Good To Me”, “Proud Mary” and “Look Me In The Heart”!!!! The Queen of Rock 'n' Roll.
This was one of her first solo hits at age 44, over 10 years after her last hit with Ike Turner! Now that's a comeback story!!
They did Proud Mary from the Ed Sullivan Show. Too bad it wasn't the awesome one where Tina tells the audience since they know the band usually does things rough, they're gonna start nice and easy before the get rough. My absolute favorite video of the song!
@@badkitty4922 Proud Mary by CCR
@@jamesbondbond8388 yup. I think they did it first, too.
Incredible!
"Better Be Good to Me" is my favorite song of Tina's 1980s output. And a collaboration with The Fixx, who they just recently reacted to!
What she's saying in this song is simply that she's starting to fall for some guy and she's trying to rationalize away those feeling because she's afraid to fall in love because she's had her heart broke too many times.
Bingo !!!
I know. It should be obvious. Doesn't take much brain cells to figure out what she's talking about in this song. It's not that deep. lol
It's very much the same theme as "I'm Not in Love" by 10cc--trying to deny the feelings of love for fear of getting hurt.
@@ChrisC709 Well, they're young lol
@@garbajful This song was released when I was 14. This song is basic. Even though I hadn't experienced it, I knew what she was talking about in this song even when I first heard it. I don't think Tina Turner liked the song when she first heard it or when it was released. But when it started doing well later she learned to love it. lol
The little girl from Nutbush, Tennessee had to travel a long hard road to get to the top. THAT'S what you hear in her voice. That sound only comes from experience and living, there's no way to fake that. Some people call it soul.
Right on
Amen
"Nutbush City Limits" is a rocking good tune too.
Well said
@@joedonlewis9820 I love the live version of Nutbush City Limits. Tina and the gals throwing everything into it! Of course there are many live versions and I can't seem to find my favourite :( It's a pretty early version, might even be in black and white if I remember correctly.
My dad got to see her perform live back in the day. He said that he still hasn't seen anyone sing and dance as well as her.
I've heard that from everyone that I know that had seen her perform live.
I saw her in Vegas. Back in the day when you had to be 21 to go in the casinos. Was traveling west with my Mom to visit a sister. Mom left. I loved it. Love Tina for decades. So glad she got out from under Ike. Strong woman.
I was lucky enough to see her live twice. Once on the Private Dancer tour. She loved coming to Europe, especially UK. The US treated her pretty badly back in the day. She was such a performer that she literally filled the stage with her presence1 She didn't need any special effects or lighting stage or anything like that. She was just a huge performer! -- Hope to see more reaction to Tina soon.
The instant you know just how good Tina is? Is when you hear anyone else try to cover her songs.
A real force of Nature. There won't come another.
I definitely have a soft spot for this period of her career. Really well produced songs. Even the Mad Max song WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER HERO has a mesmerizing quality to it.
One of the most recognizable tones ever. There is a movie about her life called "Whats Love Got to do With it" starring Angela Bassett and Lawrence Fishburn. Excellent movie.
You got this one wrong Lex. It's about a guy who falls in love with a gal and she doesn't want a real relationship just the physical. No love need be involved is what she's saying.
This is a performer you really need to see live. She was known as the hardest working singer in the world. When she left the stage there was nothing left to want. She was not afraid to sweat.
This was written by Terry Britten & Graham Lyle, who wrote "Devil Woman" for Cliff Richard that you reacted to 3 days ago. Originally offered to Cliff, he declined it. Then offered to Phyllis Hyman, who wanted to record it but Arista Records honcho Clive Davis didn't approve. Then they offered it to Donna Summer, who sat on it (not literally LOL) for two years. Bucks Fizz, a British pop group with both a male & female vocalist, recorded it but decided to have it sung by the guy and in a faster tempo. They never released it because Tina beat them to it, releasing it in 1983. The rest is history, as they say.
Actually Cliff did not discard this song. Someone in his front office said they thought he would not like it. He has performed this song in some of his concerts and regrets someone in his office turned it down. Although I enjoy Cliff’s version, I think Tina’s version is a killer.
One of the best singers putting her mark on a song and elevating it above expectations again. Agh its magical, her voice is amazing.
Private Dancer was another great one from this Album. Real deep. Sad & powerful song.
I was surprised when I found out that
Mark Knoffler, (Dire Straits) wrote
the song. (also What's Love Got To Do...)
I remember arguing with folks over how different the song/s become/s,
when a woman sings it.
Wow. I'm blown away to hear that Knoffler wrote PD. I always loved the line: "Deutsche marks and dollars. American Express will work *nicely* . Thank you."
@@busterhyman5907 Wow. I never knew that but it actually makes sense. It sounds a lot like a Dire Straits song.
This song was HUGE back in the day. Tina is fabulous. Thanks!
Nothing but respect for Tina Turner! She was 44 yrs old when this came out and she was huge !!!! Until she retired.
Tina is a living legend. Rock royalty.
I'm always amazed by how little Tina Turner we hear today. She was a goddess diva through all my years growing up, made maybe the 2nd best Bond theme & "simply the best" ringing out from so many boxer camps during fight night. Astounding artist & she went through so much to get there. True legend! Great pick again guys.
A goddess. She and Cher both hit big in the 80’s after a period of relative obscurity. Both vocal powerhouses and beautiful to boot, though Tina has always been known for her legs. I believe she has retired to Switzerland.
I was born in 1980. Mom was a singer so we had Tina Turner's music in the house. I have those weird, confusing memories of a very early celeb crush on Tina Turner. Also, this song has pretty much all of the hallmarks of the 80s sound.
As a kid, 60’s era Tina Turner was my first crush. You need to check out her early material. There is nothing like it.
Lex is on the right track with the meaning. She experienced a lot of pain in her real life and turned it around, to become an icon, legend, and one of the best to ever do it. She also found true love.
1984 this was tina's return to the charts, this song was produced by the guys from Heaven 17
I think you're referring to "Let's Stay Together".
Although B&L should listen to "Temptation" by Heaven 17.
@@johnstjohn6658 yes you are correct, they were quite involved with tinas return
I love all of Tina's hits. One of the best voices out there. I've been listening to her for 40 years and she can still give me goosebumps. If you like Tina you should listen some of her other big hits like "Private Dancer" and "You Better Be Good to Me".
Love Tina! I loved her performance in Mad Max, beyond Thunderdome. Great legs.
That girl had a rough life, struggled through it and made it, a lot of respect to her.
You should react to Tina's duet with Rod Stewart- "It Takes Two", The two icons just kill it! Tina is Rod's long lost twin!
Beautiful song. In our household growing up, my mom taught us that Tina Turner and Chaka Khan were "queens". 30+ years later I still think they are and I'd probably blush and start stuttering if I ever met them.
Her voice goes from smooth and silky to a wail with a raspy finish.
Her voice is VERY unique...no other like it:)
TIna's big comeback hit. Tina is from Nutbush Tennessee. We got Dolly, Elvis, Justin Timberlake and TIna...not bad!
Crazy to think how she transitioned the first rendition of this song. it needed Tina on it! Also, I think a lot of people equated this song particularly to her overcoming the horrendous abuse from Ike and it being a rebuttle to that experience. Sometimes the right things happen at the right time and it just clicks. ❤️ Tina
One of the best of all time favorites of mine. Tina Turner was a Queen right there with Aretha Franklin in the pop culture of the time.
The Woman is a LEGEND!!!!!
Praise Tina turner!!
I think one of the most fantastic things ever saw her do if you see Tommy by The Who the movie which came out and about in 1970 cause a scene in there she does this song
“The Acid queen “
So me and my friends went all the way down to Los Angeles to watch that film I was released oh my god that scene where she does that song is incredible damn she’s sexy…
Beauty of a song. Well sung with feeling. Tina was abused by her husband leading to her cynical view on love.
Tina Turner's voice was explained that she had nodules on her vocal cords from working as a little girl working in the cotton fields, along with other singers who had raspy voices. They had to throw their voices to be heard.
Tina ! What a queen!
This must be said about Tina Turner .
HER LEGS HER LEGS
A singing coach in another you tube video analyzing Tina Turners voice said she thought that Tina's voice was affected by her childhood in Nutbush Tennessee where she was working in cotton fields, and people had to call out loudly and communicate with loud voices over the distance. and between houses people would call out to each other because of no telephones. The voice analysis from the coach said the same thing mentioned in this video.
This song 🔥🔥🔥🔥. The beat, lyrics, arrangement, singer.
Tina Turner has a presence that can’t be taught. She commands attention, it’s palpable and 100% natural.
It’s about the fear of commitment when falling for someone after getting your heart broken and not wanting to go through to again. The whole disillusionment of love after heart break and retrying to stay safe. “I’m not falling for that love thing again, I am gonna stay safely in the it’s just physical attraction!” Mind sett
You can never go wrong with Tina.
Sometimes lyrics are just lyrics, no hidden meanings, no soulfull stories to tell, just instantaineous inspiration... words put together to rhym in a lyrical way, they fit the chorus and bridge. Just to enjoy.
farewll Tina Turner... thank you for sharing your beautiful voice and songs to fhe world...
jimmy Barnes & Tina Turner - (Simply) The Best, is well wort a listen. Two great voices.
This song is from the soundtrack of my childhood. Love it!
This is a song from first-hand experience. She's someone who's had her heart broken and is now guarded. It's a song about denial of reality. It's an inner monologue and she's asking herself a rhetorical question. The answer is love has EVERYTHING to do with it. But she's afraid of another broken heart. She's trying to convince herself love isn't worth the risk of (another) broken heart. But the lyrics give her away. In verse 1, she say's, "It's physical, only logical. You must try to ignore that it means more than that." In verse 2, she says, "If I tend to look dazed, I've read it someplace. I've got cause to be." And in the bridge her true feelings come out, "I've been taking on a new direction. But I have to say, I've been thinking about my own protection. It scares me to feel this way." She's afraid she's falling in love and doesn't want to go there. Like Aesop's story of the Fox and the Grapes, she's trying to convince herself she doesn't want or need love. It's really a beautiful concept lyrically for a song and NO ONE can deliver the message like Tina, truly a music legend! Oh, and she made an earth shaking comeback at the age of 45 when this album, Private Dancer was released; and she owned it like a BOSS, carrying all of the sexy of a 25 year old on this tour and in her music videos. You've gotta react to her live performance on this tour with Bryan Adams of her song, "It's Only Love." It's absolutely electric. The chemistry between them is really sweet.
What a voice. If you enjoyed this classic, consider checking out Tina Turner: "We Don't Need Another Hero" or her version of "Proud Mary."
a legend .... Freaking legend ... Those legs too lol
If Elvis is the king of rock then Tina Turner is the queen of rock and roll. No other woman fought their way way up as hard as her and star over at 40 and rise to the top. Only Tina could do that. Plus she had legs for days!
I have a random memory from 1984 of sitting there watching MTV one morn and the only 2 songs I can recall for certain were this and She Bop by Cyndi Lauper. Lex and Brad just did that one the other day. I had zero idea who Tina was. I remember my mom telling me she was already famous before 1984. She and my dad apparently saw Ike and Tina once in the 1960s.
This is part of her big eighties 'comeback' (she didn't go anywhere, just had a nice resurgence of hits and good acting exposure). It's about not wanting to fall in love, just physical gratification - from someone whose heart was previously broken, and now calloused. WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER HERO, from the movie Mad Max; Beyond Thunderdome (1985) is another hit.
I always thought of Tina Turner's singing voice as kind of a human saxophone
She was in her 40s here. Absolute smoke show! Swag and sexiness😍
"A second hand emotion" is correct. Love is not one of our primal emotions. Fear, happiness, sadness, anger, joy. These are things that we feel pretty much on a daily basis whether we are in love with someone or we are not. I am with Tina, love is indeed a second hand emotion.
I've been a fan of Ms. Turner ever since I saw mad max beyond thunderdome as a kid in the 80's. Fantastic artist. The song from that movie is probably my favourite. Well, that and simply the best. My all time favourite boxer chris eubank used to make his ring entrance to that song.
Tina is a legend ! You should definitely try "Proud Mary" live at Wembley. She was 60 at the time and absolutely rocked that stadium.
Yes! Anything from that concert or any live performance!!
She really was a once in a lifetime.
Based on my recollection, back in the 80's she was affectionately called "thunder thighs" because of her great legs. It was rumored she had them insured for a million dollars way back then. A true icon!
Those legs… I saw her in the early 80’s and WOW! The highlight of the show was when her sax player went into a twerk with her in his solo. Imagine a long blonde haired, muscle bound and tall white guy and her going at it. The most sensual moment I have seen at a concert, well… maybe tied with Freddy Mercury. No I’m not gay.
I think she's talking about the rasp in Tina's voice. I think the song's saying love is just a chemical reaction in our brains, a bi-product of our need to procreate, or a fairy-tale notion. I think read somewhere that she didn't like the lyrics, she disagreed with the sentiment.
Tina Turner is timeless!! Spanning decades of music genius!!
Brad if you are asking yourself what the verses are about then you need to watch the movie what’s love got to do with it. After you know what she went through with her husband Ike by the 80’s she was a changed woman. She is amazing. I had a new found respect for her after everything she went through.
Sad ,but great movie. Much love to you and your families 😊Brandi Modrak 💕
Wonderful 80's music. I love Tina Turner. Im sure you all seen this music video before. Come on now. 😄
Tina was/is hot, pretty and great legs and body 😆. She has many great songs and videos. Awesome singing voice and dance moves, stage presense. Great actress, too. Queen of Rock n Roll. Tina is a living legend. My mom love her too.
And you should watch her acting debut in mad max beyond thunderdome. She had quite the comeback from the grave of her career.
Her and Cher are two women who are immortal , neither seem to age.
This song is about how Tina was beaten by ex husband Ike Turner but one day got brave enough to leave him
“That extra sound in her voice is the screaming at your kid sound.” 👌🏻🤣couldn’t have described it better!… yet, I can’t stop laughing cause it’s hilariously true.
She was like 45 yrs old when that came out. Not bad.
If you haven't yet done a reaction to her version of the Nina Simone song "Funkier Than a Mosquito's Tweeter," you really gotta. Ike and Tina mighta been dysfunctional as a couple, but they were awesome together on stage.
One very cool, talented chick. Absolute love
Perhaps the only woman on planet that scared Mick Jagger.
Tina was about 43 when she recorded this in 1983. I'm glad she had her comeback. It baffles me that she had the fame and success she had and then had to become a cleaner to survive! Ike nearly ruined her, but she's such a powerful woman. She went on to become the Queen of Rock'n'Roll.
My Mom LOVES Tina Turner! I remember growing up, my Mom would have her Tina Turner album/tape/cd blaring in the kitchen while she cooked, dancing around happy as can be. Very nostalgic music for me! Great voice. Great performer. Great catalog of songs. Tina is a legend!
I associate this song with her comeback after years of leaving Ike, well actually running for her life. Tina is a force of nature on stage and known to have the best set of legs in the business. She's a fantastic artist.
This song is still top 100 to me
To this day , Tina has the greatest legs to ever walk on a stage .
It's about SEX. Just pure Physical Gratification without emotional entanglement - previously heartbroken and now Calloused.
Yeah y’all felt when Tina hit it hard
Sexy, sultry and Simply the Best. This and We dont need another hero are by far my personal faves. Gone but never forgotten.
You guys should check out her earlier music with her then husband Ike Turner? Maybe watch the movie (whats love got to do with it)first and then check out the early stuff! You'll have a better perspective on her and Ike's relationship and music.
If Aretha is the Queen, Tina is her right hand. You should read her autobiography. She went through hell and came out the other side triumphant. I really admire her.
And her title song from the movie Mad Max always make me tear.
Lexi would love proud Mary and bet Brad would toe tap too and smile
Simply the Best is a good one!!!! And Better Be Good to Me.
Let me help you out Brad. I think what the meaning is…. This is back in the day when they made records.. and they looked for songs that would sell records.. and so people wrote songs that they hoped artists would sing to sell records… the more records they sold, the more money everyone made… that’s what it means..
Much respect for Mrs. Turner. You must watch the movie about Tina and Ike. It's a tough movie to watch at times but this woman went through hell at the hands of her husband but she came out on top and made her on way. Love her!
Her and Ike played in a bar down the street from my great grandmother's house in North St Louis. She had a hard abusive life with him. She made it big without him. Love her attitude.
Tina had one of those sexy voices like Ronnie Spector. I absolutely love her!!
The Ronettes!
Such a beautiful talented woman.
Bless Tinas heart she went threw it!
Tina a living legend for real though.
A little bit of trivia: the gorgeous legs in Rod Stewart's video for Hot Legs are Tina Turner's.
Now you have to try…Tina Turner and Bryan Adams…”It’s Only Love”.
Her voice is like that from years of being choked out by Ike turner. She owes everything to Ike.
Definitely one of my favorite Tina Turner songs this and the one from Mad Max beyond Thunderdome
