  • It is the 45th anniversary of "Truth," the debut album by the Jeff Beck Group, but don't expect a Beck/Rod Steward reunion anytime soon. "He never calls," groused the guitar legend. In this interview excerpt, Beck elaborates on the challenges facing any future duets.

Glad that he and Rod did play a gig together after this interview (in LA in 2018 or 19 I think).

JB never clung to past glory. He was always forging ahead and searching for something new. That's why he kept on progressing while his contemporaries never changed.

What is and will not to be.. Jeff's right. These guys never got along and a reunion of them smacks of my getting together again with my ex-wife. I saw them 3 times in 68-69. Yes, they were fantastic on a good night. That being said, it is a shame that Jeff could not get it together with Steve Marriott. What a band that would have been.

I saw Beck with Stewart back in 84/85 when they toured together. ... Beck was great but I wasn't surprised Beck quit a week later.

I met with a British music manager and promoter who worked with legends. He said Rod Stewart was the only artist who made his road crew pay for their own beer.

My friend plays in a band which plays at Rod Stewart concerts, I mentioned Rod being notoriously tight and he said he’s been good to us, he gave my friend a pair of signed Glasgow Celtic football boots.

He was an amazing and unique guitarist with incredible improvisational intuition. How he played a trem to approach his notes was masterful and precise but risky and daring. Loose and with his ear and the voice of his instrument. If you’re a guitar geek and he’s not a god at the pantheon, try switching to keyboards. Lol

When I read Jeff Beck died? I walked into our bedroom (that my husband had went to for sleep about ten mins before) and told him- Jeff Neck died!
      He said: Oh,Wow!
The next day, I mentioned it again (I know and have know for years exactly who Jeff Beck is), he admitted he was shocked bc he thought Glen Beck died.
True story. Lol! So besides you, yeah someone else thought that. 😀
