Cessna are priced fairly and similar to Piper's. There are more Cessnas on the market which would help drive the price down. I chose to go Piper for the look. If I could do it again I might have gone with a piper 180 for fuel efficiency or a better equipped Comanche for speed and avionics. The 235 has its benefits but that fuel burn burns me haha

Furthermore, when flying over water it would present a much better selection of emergency engine-out landing options. Could be a nice trip from Florida to Brazil.

Hard to answer in comments but first thing you need to do is take a discovery flight. See if you really want to do it. Discovery flights are offered by flight schools. There are many in ATL area just Google flight schools and contact them about getting your PPL and you want to take a discovery flight. They will all be priced the same. Also ask what aircrafts they have in there fleet. Another method is to find independent instructors...usually they are members of flight clubs. SEARCH flight clubs ATL and you'll see them.

I am currently researching flight schools within the NYC area. Do you have any recommendations? What school did you train with and why? My research led me to a school in NJ named Century Air. I live in Harlem and the location is not far I would train out of KCDW.
@KelKel64 if you are in Harlem jersey and Westchester, flight schools will be best. The most important thing is trying to find a field that isn't too busy because busier fields mean less airtime during your lessons. More ground operations, etc. Personally, I've always preferred towered fields so a not so busy towered field would be optimal

I did consider flight schools in LI being I do drive have access to public transportation and have a dwelling in Queens.

No we varied altitude. For JFK you can request clearance through the airspace or fly above or below the airspace I chose to request clearance...after Newark nothing else really will be an issue. I also requested VFR flight following so you're always in contact with air traffic control advising of traffic and airspace restrictions. Are you a student pilot?

I'll check it out. Since I doubt film as much aviation work I wasn't setup to get atc audio. I know it's helpful but not my focus. In the next video I will try to get some audio from inside.
Sure. Piper 6 is a nice bird. Hard to really advise other than really know your mission and priorities. When I was looking for my airplane I wanted something that can do long legs 800nm* and carry 4 passengers. Turned out that my typical mission was less than 200nm and less than 2 passengers. So I have a more capable plan than needed. Now I'm most concerned with speed and IFR equipped. Next aircraft will be SR22, Columbia 400, or Piper Malibu. As for buying if using debt get your approvals squared away from the start so you know exactly what you are working with. Do a thorough pre buy and try to buy something recently out of annual. Make sure your typical mission is satisfied. It's very common to start lusting over other aircraft. Keep me posted with your progress?!

I trained at academy of aviation and global aviation. If you want to train on a cessna g1000 or diamond go with aoa if you want to learn in a piper go with global. The most important thing is that you like your instructor and will get enough time together to finish your PPL. Godspeed

I bought the plane as a student pilot with dreams of taking regular long cross country flights loaded with my buddies. So the useful load and range rarely get utilized. For my typical mission, 1-3 people 100-300nm the 180 would be perfect. Another thing is you don't get much speed out of that HP and fuel burn. 14gph for 135-140 kts is unacceptable in modern aircraft. I would say a comanche would be a better purchase than 235. But if you're debating 180-235 and your mission sounds more like mine go with the 180. My next aircraft is going to be a malibu or TTX I want more speed. And when the stars and moons align PC-12

That's one way to go about it. Especially if you find a group of 4 more student pilot's. You guys can pool your Cash, get a secured loan and buy an ifr capable Cessna 150/172 or a Cherokee. I say the 150 bcuz of super low fuel burn. In a few weeks I'm going to publish what I think is the most cost effective way to get your ppl. Also I'm available to meet just let me know when you have availability and we can work something out.
Ohhh I know it's awful. I just moved to fort Lauderdale and that room has tiled floors and bare walls .... so tons of reverb. As I fill it up with furniture and soften the room some the sound will improve also that mic is my backup mic so it's not the best. With in the mouth the acoustics will be better. Check back and let me know if it's improved.

I enjoyed the vid. No neg but the room you are recording in is bad for audio. Hard to listen to
Ohhh I know it's awful. I just moved to fort Lauderdale and that room has tiled floors and bare walls .... so tons of reverb. As I fill it up with furniture and soften the room some the sound will improve also that mic is my backup mic so it's not the best. With in the mouth the acoustics will be better. Check back and let me know if it's improved.
Just upgraded my microphone so sound quality is much better and I now record in a different location! Thanks for the constructive criticism
