    The comments of my top video “My Cheap $35,000 Airplane” are flooded with people asking “But how much does it ACTUALLY cost to own a plane?” so, in today’s video I decided to share with you some of the costs associated with ownership.
    I’ll be doing my plane’s annual inspection which tends to be one of the heavier costs you can expect as an airplane owner, and it’s especially crucial for owners of old planes like my $35,000 Piper Cherokee.
    If you’re interested in getting to know more about what it takes to maintain a plane, this is the video for you.

    Step 1 Buy the aircraft, but choose a model suitable for training. Piper PA38, Cessna 152 or similar.
    Step 2 Lease the aircraft to a local flying school so it's earning for you while you are at the office.
    Step 3. Ensure your flying lessons don't clash with another student.
    Step 4. if you get steps 1,2 and 3 right you get your licence for free and you still own a valuable asset.
    Step 5, Optional, I sold my aircraft to the flying school and used the cash to buy a 4 seater to better suit my family needs.
    You can do similar.

    Karl. Luv your channel. You can really keep the costs down. Getting annual for 300-600 with nothing major if you owner assist. This was for a Grumman cheetah. I’m happy to do the grunt work like open access panels removing wheel pants. If a person has any mechanical aptitude it is a great way to build confidence in your aircraft as well as better understand the systems. Shopping for the “right” person is essential.Prices vary a lot with mechanics. I’ve had great experiences.

    Wow $7.61/gallon . Naples has it at $4.18 and even HWO at $4.98. I heard FXE was high and even the tie downs cost is high. A cover helps water intrusion and at least interior. Mine sits outside as well but covered. Some water still comes in despite windows sealed and replaced, door seal replaced.

    Annuals will be very affordable if you can do most of the work yourself with the help of an A&P present. Then get an A&P to verify and check your work. A&P can sign a 100 hour inspection only but you need and IA to sign your annual.

    Glad I came across your channel. I love aviation and one of my dreams were to fly my very own airplane. Sometimes I get turned off by some of the crashes but I still want to fly. I had a friend that was a pilot die in a crash back in 2016 or 2017 in a fiery crash in Fort Lauderdale so that kinda turned me off a bit but I have a reawakened passion for flying again now that I see how affordable it can be. Look there are a lot of poor whites that would love to fly also. I look at you as a professional for what you fly, you have to have abilities you have it. Encouraging people who have a desire to fly and can be mentored in ways to achieve that is great. If I see a black a Latino and Asian with a captain's hat and bars in the cockpit that man's qualified I don't give a damn what color he is he's qualified that's how I look at it.

    Curious how much to store your plane, or to tour around USA. Do you pay for landing and takeoff? Can you sleep in your plane at air strips? Are private air strips open to use?

    • @Karl__Pierre
      @Karl__Pierre  Рік тому +2

      Storage is $200/month, landing fees are super low to free at most airports. Low is Lome $2-6 bucks! You could sleep in the plane but no temp control so gotta be careful. Usually the private strips you could contact and Usually its ok but there are soooooo many GA airports the private ones and few and far in between.

The charter DC-3 that crashed on approach to West End years ago had to return to the Palm Beach International ramp before taking off to remove one that apparently was just pushed further in instead. of being removed. Jack and Annie Levinson of WPB had chartered the junket as a graduation present for their high school sons and their classmates. All perished about 3 miles from the island. Serious business.

    One thing you have failed to cover is TBO on these engines and what it costs when that overhaul is required. You seem offended that you’re being called out for not covering additional costs. It’s irresponsible to not disclose these potential costs and the implication it has on selling the aircraft before you do one. Encouraging more people to fly is also irresponsible given that aviation has near uncontrolled emissions regardless if G100UL has an STC now.
