Spiritual Burnout and Religious OCD

- If you’re looking for Biblical teachings on how to overcome religious OCD (aka scrupulosity), you’re in the right place. I’m a follower of Jesus Christ and I’ve struggled with religious OCD myself. I have three degrees in theological specializations, so I approach this topic purely from a spiritual perspective, but I recognize that religious OCD has a considerable amount of overlap between spirituality and psychology. While I support and strongly recommend medical/psychological interventions, it is outside the scope of my expertise to offer psychological counseling of any kind. The information provided on my channel is not intended to be used as a substitute for professional diagnosis and treatment, but rather for educational and informational purposes only.

I have had burnout many times throughout my seasons with OCD. It's a funny thing because you almost feel calm for the first time in a while and you almost want to welcome it. It's also funny you would mention that there is a point where you freak out, because that is exactly what happens to me. It's almost like you push it so that you can fell something again and your brain gets sick in the wake of your efforts. I'm amazed at how much rest you need with OCD, it's something that I was always told was a bad thing to take, and now I find that without it am simply can't function anymore. Thank you for this video!
Thank you for making this video. I have been also really dealing with the challenge of truly resting in God's grace. I offended my friend cause of my anxiety, and it's caused a rift in our friendship. I want to be trusted by people again. ❤
I needed this today. Thanks
Great video Jaimie.
Yes, im exhausted and burnout from feeling like i have to watch all these religious videos and reading christian reddit. I had to stop all of that to make all the intrusive thoughts and voices stop. My mind needs quiet. 🥴
Thankyou!
Somehow, nobody's thought to phrase for me (whether myself or others) that the brain is an organ. Amid a lot of burnout, I needed to hear that. Thank you!
Ngl I almost felt like losing my faith because using secular tools to help ocd worked better for me than prayer and reading the Bible and I felt like the source of my misery was the Bible was God and everything related to religion. Please pray for me. I struggle with wanting to pray, I feel mad at God because of the ocd and other stuff; Jesus has always been there for me but I am burnt out from it all and almost don't care but care enough to not throw it all away eiher
I recommend listening to Mark DeJesus. We are justified by faith. We have to regularly remind ourselves. Left to our out imagination we may falsely feel like we have fallen from grace.
Go easy on yourself
Hello, I want to suggest making a video about reading the Bible obsessions. Because i don't know how to make a devotional or reading. I just make only one reading session and i dont understand the secret spiritual meaning of the Old and new testament books, chapters and verses.
I am tired of having unwanted blasphemous thought these past couple weeks and I am in spiritual bondage because of this. How do I free myself from no longer thinking the thought?😟💔😔🙏 I don't mean the thought so why do I feel the urge to think it when I don't believe in it?
Watch Mark DeJesus
@@enochjosiah9062 Ty, brother🙏🕊 Can you relate, if I may ask?
@@christiangirlforhumanity3853blasphemous thoughts are very common with religious OCD. I know that doesn't make it any easier. Don't try to figure out the thoughts or pray them away, because you can't. Just try to let them pass on by like a wave in the ocean. Jaimie has a lot of material on this. Also as the other person said Mark DeJesus has videos as well. You are not alone in this. There's so many others who battle this.
