- I set off for an explore of some hills around Hedgehope going to the Great Standrop and Little Standrop on the way, It was a misty evening with fast disappearing views, but I woke to Glorious sunshine and magical views of the Cheviot and surrounding hills.
Cheviot is 815 m and Hedgehope 714 m

Yes, cheviots are beutiful 😊. 👏👍🏼
Hi and thanks for watching
It’s a lovely remote area
Cheers
Great video of the Northumberland hills mate. What a beautiful morning.
Hi Phil, misty night and great morning, I was sailing away !!!! Tarp and summits !!!!!
Cheers
Great video, thanks for sharing
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoyed it
Cheers
Nice video. Cheviots look good in the morning light. Thanks.
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you liked the views
It was worth the misty night
Cheers
Nice discreet setup 👌 beautiful countryside 👍 atb Taff 🤠👊
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoyed it
Discreet yes but not reqd up there I just enjoy the tarp and bivy !!
Not summit wind friendly lol
Cheers
Ahh as always Adrian a delight to see you utilise the tarp n bivi, I saw your border ridge adventures and had to go! And now I'm going to have to follow your footsteps through Ingram to hedgehope, may skip the spout visit, I do enjoy it but the fore scars and litter make me rage, you can guarantee the people who do this return to their friends and encompass a great love and passion for the outdoors and all its beauty, I've witnessed it first hand😡
Anyway, I'm excited to get out there again, stratosphere and stash G2 combo!
Thanks for sharing
Hi and thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it, can’t beat the fun in using a tarp with the bivy, on reflection with no rain due I should have dropped the tarp at bedtime, as it served as an evening wind break, but as you know our wind takes no prisoners and can change in a minute !!!
Say no more on the spout the valley it’s self is a litter haven after a nice day, you will know the bit by the stream,I know the house keeper and game keeper and they collect nappies and all sorts !!
Cheers
Last time I went up Hedgehope I walked up to Cunyan crags and over Dunmoor hill and then up Hedgehope. Bit of up and down but at least it cut the road out. Its sad how the path up to Linhope is showing the damage from Arwen. Thanks for sharing your trip Adrian.
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoyed it
The ups and downs of the route keeps it quiet !!
Cheers
Great vid, that trap was more like a sail in that wind.
Some people are just so disrespectful, can’t believe there was so many fire pits 🤬.
Hi and thanks for watching, lol yes I woke up with the wind straight at me, that’s the Cheviots for you, the wind can change in minutes, will have to drop down from summits if I am going to just use the Tarp and Bivy,
The day trippers have no respect just out for an hour or two and wreck it !
Cheers
Tough old climb that Adrian, my fellow camper Bob hates it 😂
Nice little bivvy setup as well 👍
Hi Dave thanks for watching, I enjoy the struggles up the hills, not sure our north east wind favours a tarp on the summit
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper yeah the summits aren’t particularly tarp friendly, especially this year with the lack of summer weather. Well done for persevering though 👍
a other nice one 👍
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoyed it
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper 👍
Nice one Adrian 👍
Been up that way before.. back via Dunmoor Hill & Cunyan crags.. 🤝
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoyed it
It’s a nice but rough route
Cheers
👍
Hi and thanks for watching
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper Do you sleep with the Bivvy zipped up? And where did you purchase it from?
I have hood zipped up 3/4 and the side zip 3/4 and get no draughts
GO ARMY. It was a super grade A at £110
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper thank you mate.👍
Fantastic Adrian, that looked so bleak and atmospheric up there.
Hi Graham, honestly I loved the walk up hard but so bleak
Not so sure a tarp and summit camp works lol
From an evening wind break to a sail lol
Cheers till our next one
@@northumberlandmountainhopper well, there’s always the tent option!
@@grahamswildcampingNooooooooooo
Spot on Adrian mate, good hike up to the summit, hedgehope is bit of a tough and boggy climb, but the views are great when it’s clear, although it’s always been windy and cold wh,en I camped there 🤣, it’s beyond me why people want to light fires on the grass and ruin it 🤬 and spoil it for others to enjoy, the wind looked like it picked up for you in the morning, nice one mate, enjoyed the video, atb Mick 👍
Hi mick and thanks for watching, yes a tough climb, views in the morning were great,
Tarp and wind were not a good combination in the morning, why does our wind change sides so frequently.
Cheers Adrian
Nice one A. It’s cold and cloudy/rainy in NW England today. In Mid June. 🙃
absolutely horrible in cumbria rn
Hi and thanks for watching, yes where is the dry wind free warm weather lol
Cheers
It boils my piss and blood the total lack of respect that folk have for our country.
🤬🤬🤬
Great camp and nice footage 🎥
Hi and thanks for watching
This valley has a stretch of parking grass by a stream and after a nice day they find all sorts nappies etc etc
It’s best to go to the out of way places if you don’t want to witness peoples behaviour
Cheers
Lovely Adrian 👍
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you like it
Cheers
Nice one. Thanks for showing the setup and how you’ve tied out the poles. Helpful.
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it, perhaps I will sow what knots I use etc if it helps people
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper Definitely!
Nice one mate , good walk in and out of camp that mind , a very exposed camp too but you did it again , thanks Adrian atb Deka 👍🏻👌🏻💯
Hi Deka and thanks for watching
Summit camps Cheviot wind and a tarp emmm lol
I had some nice views to make up for it
Cheers
My best friend was given 6 months to live on March 1st this year. He was taken to hospital against his will and we're hoping to get him into a hospice tomorrow, but I live by bedside or phone side - I can't camp at the moment. I'm not fishing for sympathy, I am much loved by friends and family but these videos truly help me. Anybody looking at me can see what I am - a broken man. I desperately need the solace of solitude but won't be able to get it until my friend dies. So I'm in a pretty bleak place right now, but your calming voice the beautiful scenery, no music have a very medicinal effect on me. Certainly worth a couple of brews, cheers!
Hi and thanks for watching, kind words indeed, much appreciated, I am sorry for your rough times, life is so hard at times,
As for me I camp to keep my life calm as I sometimes have challenging times to deal with due to SEND issues,
So glad you enjoy the videos and they help,
Cheers till the next one
Nice one Adrian thanks for the mention 😊 that route up is a killer I did it last year I'm sure you mist the farmer tracks on the way back down your doing great for your age your giving us youngest a run for our money atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Hi Jimmy, thanks for watching, not sure about summit camps with the tarp lol, yes looking on the map there was suppose to be a quad track but I could not find it and I was knee deep anyway so I just went for it !! Would not go that way again lol
When’s our camp ? Text me a date
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper will do as soon as I get a date mate 👍
Another cracking camp Adrian, definitely abit different the summit camps ,that's for sure, proper bushwacking on the way back, cool video, hopefully I'm up Northumberland way for afew days nxk weekend, pop in see my daughter in Newcastle, then north bound , cant wait, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
Hi Craig thanks for watching, yes summits and tarps are not a good combination especially on the Cheviots as the wind is so changeable,
Perhaps I will see you on a hill
Cheers
@northumberlandmountainhopper it'll be a sml hill lol, mobility isn't the strongest but I'm pig headed so meh, lol, weather dependent, may do a coastal camp as well ,atb craig
@@paganoutdoors3193you should do st Abbs but if a trek but worth it
It would be interesting to see who exactly is making the mess and letting the local conservation dept know.
Hi and thanks for watching
It’s just day trippers, this valley is a tourist and day tripper magnet, there is an area by a stream with large grass areas and it’s heaving on a nice day, then there is the litter
Disposable barbecues, nappies etc etc the people in the valley clean it up
People !!!!!
This is why my normal videos are in more remote areas
Cheers
It’s still chilly for June mate
Hi and thanks for watching
Weather !!
Cheers
done the standrop route back from hedgehope years ago. give me the border ridge anytime 👌into june & its more like winter😏 long as you enjoyed it 👍
Hi and thanks for watching
Yes the border ridge is so much more scenic depends what you like
It’s so green and rolling
Cheers
Beautiful Isn’t it
Hi and thanks for watching
It is so nice
Cheers
Good video as usual Adrian. So after using your bivvy in varying weather conditions is there still no condensation issues to report? Atb, Shaun.
Hi and thanks for watching, honestly I have not had any damp in the hooped bi y, not even in the footbox area, it’s a magical it of kit, just heavy at 1500gr but with a light tarp still comes In under two kilo
Cheers
Can I ask what size tarp you use thanks
Hi and thanks for watching
Mostly a DD super light tarp S 2.8x1.5 but also a 3x3 at times
Cheers
@northumberlandmountainhopper I've got the big one but sometimes it seems to big but that looks perfect thanks
Your correct The 3x3 is better in the woods to big for the hills
'army planes' smh
Hi and thanks for watching
Cheers
I’m looking at one of these Bivi. I know it’s the Dutch one but who’s the maker please and has it been reliable thank u
Hi and thanks for watching, this one is the Fresca one apparently not so good but this one was grade A super and is perfect even the zips are ok yet have a reputation,
I use it weekly
Cheers
