Illayaraja fought a? I agree they had differences of opinion. IR did not fight with anyone voluntarily. 1. BR- IR - Nadodi Thendral - BR said that the movie was flop because of IR music. He did not focus properly and that was the reason. IR heard this and said if that is the case, I will not compose here after. Legends like IR will surely such egos. 2. KB-IR - Puthu Puthu Arthangal - KB announced the release date of the movie and IR did not have enough time to do the re recording. KB insisted that he complete as he announced the date and IR was upset that why would someone promise the release date without checking with him. If you heard the movie re recordings, they have BGMs from Punnagai Mannan as KB mixed them finally. 3. Mani-IR - KB came out of IR and produced 3 movies all at one time. Annamalai (Deva) Vaaname Ellai (Maragadamani) and Roja (ARR). That was when the movie industry understood that if KB can do that why not us and the industry moved away and instead waiting on IR's dates, why not use others. Mani was one such person and IR politely refused to compose for this movies as well. Again EGO, Self respect whatever.. 4. SPB- IR - Many know IR was fighting over copyrights issue that his songs were used in international shows without his approval or even if they used it, they have to pay him the royalty accordingly and the industry have not been following that. Out of the 1000 movies IR scored, IR has rights to the songs for about 50% of them the others are with other companies. Those companies pay royalty to IR but the issue is with the other 50% of movies(ECHO recording was one such company that was owned by IR and was managed by a friend of him who cheated him). SPB and SPB Charan were on international tour and in US when the legal team sent legal notice, SPB could have sorted it out as they were friends, but he chose his son over friendship and he went social and posted bad remarks about IR. Again, they both are friends and they had misunderstanding and they sorted it eventually. 5. IR - Vairamuthu - Vairamuthu was introduced to IR by BR and we know they worked so many years and gave us so many wonderful songs. IR had the habit of writing the first lines for the songs and many lyricists had confirmed this and he has suggested corrections also which many mutually agreed. He did the same with Vairamuthu and he was offended after certain point and they exchanged words like DO I interfere in your music, then why do you interfere in my work, which may not be not wrong, but rumors are that there were some harsh comments and derogatory remarks and that is the reason they are not able to patch up so far. These are statements from many people across the industry shared in social media. He is not and actor and he speaks straight and many may not like the way he communicates.
