Yes some aikido techniques take very long time to learn and even longer for one to be able to use it in a real situation but they are very effective. Aikido is complicated martial arts and many people never learn it properly hence why it had such a bad name. But it is an art working on many different levels and once the practitioner understand it it is life changing. Don’t do a whole class on one technique perhaps do sankyo combined with couple of strikes and at least one other technique to keep the focus and enjoyment in the class.

We had to do hours and hours of training of sankyo people ended leaving the class because they didn't want to take the time to learn it properly
