@@Th3Birdman The point you made in the video, though, is that you feel it would be better if they were kept antagonistic throughout. What would you have liked to see instead?
10:36 The fort scene makes perfect sense within FNAF lore despite the animatronics being the antagonists. It was established all the way back in the second game that they only attack adults, so it makes sense they would want to play with Abby and not attack right now as not to scare her. The one time an animatronic attacked a kid was because it was not possessed yet and it was programed to do so by William. Aside form that, great video, as always.
I agree the whole building a fort with Abby thing was pretty weird BUT to play devil’s advocate there is precedent to this in the game lore. I believe it’s in the FNAF 2 phone calls where Phone Guy says that the animatronics aren’t “acting right” but he makes note that they only seem to be acting aggressive towards adults and not kids. So the possessed animatronics being friendly to kids and not adults is an established piece of the lore and I assume the fort building scene was their way of showing that
Matthew Lillard being William Afton is probably the best casting for that role I could have asked for as a long time fan of the series. He always gives it so much energy to his roles and I hope that we still get him for the sequel!
Jeremy missed the fact that the movie clearly showed the 5 kids multible times, meaning that there's 5 animatronics yet Golden Freddy was too confusing to comprehend.
So, I'll admit, I had this gnawing little pit of dread in my stomach during the fort scene, because my mind was not on the fort building itself, but rather on what it theoretically achieves. Considering that a major plot point of the film was Mike trying to cope with a predator taking his brother, my thought was more immediately on how a predator would take Abby despite Mike being there. The most logical answer to me: build up their trust by acting playful so they drop their guard.
CinemaSins always confuses me. Are they a joke channel? Or a film criticism channel? Sometimes the criticisms are so terrible, that they just use the excuse that they are a comedy channel to defend themselves.
The team maintains that it's satire, but it's dogshit satire because it doesn't satirize nitpicky movie reviewers well by just being a nitpicky movie reviewer. CinemaSins would be like if South Park "parodied" a song by just playing the song but this time Eric Cartman sings it.
They use the guise of a joke channel to hide behind when their real criticisms aren't good. so when people point out mistakes they claim "it's just a joke" but if not they want you to take them completely seriously
To Jeremy's last point of "The film doesnt establish dying in the suit makes him a ghost", not only is anyone vaguely aware of the games able to know that yes it does, the eyes light up when Lillard puts on the head, which in the language of the series, means spirit possession
15:11 "Unless these suits automatically turns you into a ghost”. Yes Jeremy, the Spinglock suits do turn you into a ghost... because they kill you... and ghosts... are dead people... wtf?
For context with the table scene, what I see a lot of people say was it was a way for the animatronics to lure Abby into their trust by playing with her so they could take her without struggling to. I agree it was a goofy scene but the theory makes some sense
@@AnisterStarlight I just said theory cause I wasn’t sure what the scene implied when I’ve seen it, it’s just what I’ve seen online, but if it is what they’re trying to say then it makes sense

8:23 they could also be stealing tokens is because, well, scalping reasons. Depending on when the FNAF movie takes place, tokens have been mostly phased out, even Chuck E' Cheese is phasing them out, and they've been replaced with game cards. Heck even our local Cici's got rid of being able to play the games with cash, you NEED a Cici's game card to play them now. Not to mention, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza as a franchise in-universe closed down due to the incident, so for them to steal a bunch of tokens means that they could theoretically sell them to collectors and enthusiasts for biiiiiig money!! Rare Freddy Fazbear Tokens? Claim you had a bunch of them from when it was opened and sell them for hundreds if not thousands of dollars online! If it takes place in the 90s, having rare Fazbear Tokens could also be just a massive bragging right too.
The only reason I knew Stu was the villain (literally said ‘get that fake ass Bull shit name tag out of here’ when they showed him for the first time) was because I had heard prior to seeing the MV ikr that Matthew Lilliard was playing William Afton lol
Honestly, I personally thought it was pretty obvious just from a narrative perspective, but part of why I doubted myself and something I don't think helped too much was that the actor and the only technically official full render of Peepaw Willy (from the books) look wildly different!
10:35 People tend to overlook that the animatronics are possessed by kids and they're doing this because they're kids being kids and they've wanted a friend to play with for years so they do this to gain Abby's trust so they can make her one of them. But I'll admit, the fort building scene was outta nowhere and threw me off a bit but I rolled with it.
Man, I didn't even like this movie that much but having still watched it, I'm baffled by how Jeremy somehow thinks Golden Freddy and Springtrap would create confusion when it's obvious they're designed differently and he even points it out, showing how obvious it is. Like, what even is the sin here? "Ah yes, these two different characters are designed differently. Ding!"
The fort scene was one because they are still "kids" at heart. And the other reason is the games have a bit of "humor" to them. Humor and horror sometimes go together like peanut butter and jelly. That scene actually completely made sense to me. Since you asked Birdman, there you go. Also keep up the good work.
A good portion of the story behind this movie, including having Afton be springtrapped during the movie, was pulled from the Sliver Eyes novel trilogy. So it dose infact make sense from a lore perspective
CinemaSins really shouldn't have touched on anything to do with a fandom like this. Most of what was in the movie, and really the idea of the movie itself, was all for the fans. The "I always come back" line, the appearance of Golden Freddy's spirit when it speaks to Abby, etc. were for the fans, not to make the best movie with the best plot. It's the main reason why it got a pretty bad score from critics and a really high score from audiences. It wasn't supposed to be the latest and greatest award winning film. It was more of a high-budget fan project.
Then there's Roxy who is in Glamrock Freddy's role in Ruin and Rockstar Foxy in UCN who helps you if he doesn't decide to jump scare you And there's FNAF World but we don't really talk about that
I thought the fort scene was trying to lure Abby into a false sense of security, and try to make mike think that they were friendly like a sort of baby sitter.
Which it literally does. The critisism isnt about the scene not making sense (it was very obvious what animatronics were trying to do), but it was just silly af
Now this is what I like about @th3birdman. It’s clear you don’t really like the FNAF franchise, but you spend the time to research basic lore stuff about the franchise and explain it too. To me, that’s really admirable, to look at the movie objectively as possible while also making a humorous video. Keep up the great work.
FNAF gameplay is fine but by far not the crown jewel of the series. It isn't anything mind blowing and absolutely not why the game got popular by any means, but it also isn't particularly bad either. IMO the gameplay, on its own/in a vacuum, is pretty mid.
I love how your commentary tone has evolved into that of a parent who keeps "getting that phone call" that they need to come pick up their kid from the principal's office-I can feel your eye rolls from the midwest! 😂
You can see just how much the movie caters to fans with things like this. There were a lot of things people complained about that are honestly totally on-brand for FNAF, but that they weren’t expecting because they know FNAF as “that horror game with the murderous animatronics that jumpscare you.” The interpersonal relationship drama, the animatronics not being villains, the campiness- none of these surprised me, since I’ve been a fan ever since the series started. But people unfamiliar with the franchise went in expecting something very different, so it makes sense that they walked out like “What did I just watch” lol
8:24 _NOT TO MENTION_ They literally said that the Pizzaria was huge in the 80s. Someone, somewhere, would absolutely pay a shit ton of money for those Tokens.
14:41 - Jeremy seems to miss out on the fact that Matthew Lillard does clean his knife in the same way that he did in Scream, which was a deliberate reference to the movie.
4:12 I called out this sin on Twitter and everyone flamed me for it, saying "It's a joke." And as a long time subscriber to your channel, I can absolutely say that is NOT the case.
But this particular sin is a joke. It's just that the joke isn't funny, like at all. But yeah, we still get stupid stuff like that in CinemaSins videos, and it's annoying
0:50 Genuinely Blumhouse is one of my favourite movie studio openings- Its a nice show of what they've done, and shows you right away that they're a horror based studio Also this is just a thing about the movie, but I ADORE the way the dream sequences are shot. Sound effects are louder and the camera cuts to what made the noise, cause its a detail Mike remembers
I think the only reason people hate on this movie so much is fnaf vhs videos making them except its gonna be 2 hours of barely visible shaky camera footage and gore
Critics found it boring and cliche but its critics A subset of fans thought it deviated too much from the source material People who hate the books hated the fact it took plot points from the books And anyone who’s heard of what a springlock suit can do would be annoyed at the film portrayal Not all the criticism is valid but people have options abd I know mine has lowered since I first watched it
The Stu/William Afton twist reveal at the end could also be a nod to when he Lillard played Shaggy in Scooby Doo, a series well known for its twist villain reveals.
Not gonna lie, I was NOT expecting you to do a FNaF video, given your stance on the franchise, but I love it! Also, Springtrap was definitely the best thing in this film. I can't wait to see him as a straight-up zombie in the third film!
8:05 not only can they be melted down and used for other things, if this Freddy’s location really was as popular as Afton claimed, these could be counted as some kind of collectible that a lot of people might be willing to pay some decent money for. Not like it would be a fortune or anything, but they could get some form of extra cash by selling some of them as collectibles to people who grew up with the franchise in the 80’s and it was their childhood! Just an idea idk how much merit it actually has but as a collector of some childhood things myself, I could see that being possible.
How to be a perfect movie according to cinemasins! 1. All protagonists must have no flaws and be 100% agreeable, 2. Everything must be blatantly obvious so he can understand it 3. You must take no creative liberties from the original source material 4. Characters must always know exactly what’s going on, no one is allowed to have to find information out
Fun Fact: The security guard who dies in the opening of the movie was originally supposed to be played by Mark Fischbach (aka Markiplier, aka The KING of Five Nights at Freddy’s), but he was unable to make it to set, due to filming his movie Iron Lung
I think recently they confirmed that chucky has the same original strength that he had as a human in the latest show, they make a joke about why the hell he's overpowering adults.
I knew when I watched the movie that CinemaSins would never bother to research the lore. They can’t be bothered to research more simple things, so the FNaF lore was definitely too complicated for them. I personally appreciate that it’s not a direct one-to-one. If it were, then we’d know EVERYTHING that’s going to happen, what characters are going to die, and how it all began. Scott seems to like making different stories out of the different media formats that FNaF reaches. The games have the main story, the books have a separate story that shares some similarities, and now the movie(s) seem to be going for that as well. If it were all the same, what would be the point? The different stories offer new ways of looking at the characters. In some, the animatronics lean more into the murderous horror side. In others, they lean more into the souls of children side. In one type, we’re afraid of them while in the other, we feel sorry for them.
Honestly the moment we got told "this will be different from the games" I went "alright cool, what we doing?" A little unstable home drama, switching the afton and Emily families, having Vanessa be Michael's daughter, basically everything thats REQUIRED when you're using different backstories for characters that have been preestablished? I had no problem with that. The animatronics building a fort? Yes please! Id love to know how active the child souls are in the suits and seeing them in the dreams? Lovely little touch. Also, Golden Freddy teleports. Yep. Thats what he do. For someone complaining about how the movie isnt like the game he sure does overlook things that are like the game. I think the biggest surprise to most fans was that it could actually move and had weight. Honestly if you're up to date on the franchise you should be used to the "similar but not the same" vibes the movie gives. Its the only way to stay sane.
Wooh! Happy Sunday!! Birdman CinemaSins video time!! I haven’t actually seen the movie but always interested in the movie! Of course the classic “Sin for X seconds or X minutes of logos”.
5:50 I laughed at the little note in the corner. Most people don't bother with the Books when they talk about the movie or the games, so the fact that you did at least get a summary, if not just flat out reading them, is pretty cool.
10 months later but I feel the need to say anyways Scott confirmed in an interview that the intent behind the fort scene was to show that yes, the animatronics are antagonists, but they're also victims. They are children, and even when they killed the vandals (Because this is a horror movie, Scott needed to get a kill count in) it was because they were sared. Scary adults came into whats become their home and started going around wrecking shit, they were defending their home, even if not in the best way, because they are *dead children*, even after everything They are both antagonists for the story, since Mike is the protagonist, and victims of the ACTUAL villain, who was manipulating them, William
Honestly i thought cinema sins was going to cover the mattpat cameo then i had a moment to think. "Does cinema sins even know who mattpat is? Or any other youtuber for that matter?" Add a bite of 87 worth of sins
14:58 just wanna point out, he’s just called Mr. Cupcake, Carl is a name given by the fans, which is referenced, as that guy who’s face was mauled by Mr. Cupcake is named Carl.
I see that you're a man of culture after the Mcjuggernuggets series reference at 12:03. Seeing the Psycho Series from 2012 until 2016 reminded me of Breaking Bad.
12:01 wtf is he talking about?! Non of the animatronics have human necks. Bc they're children stuffed into the suits. Most of there bodies are in the torsos
I have been a huge Five Nights at Freddy’s fan since I was fairly young and I generally did enjoy this movie. But, I also think that it didn’t adapt Five Nights at Freddy’s well. What made the first game, at least, interesting was that you are working in an old, rundown pizzeria dealing with the repercussions of a murderer long gone and now you have to fight to survive against animatronics possessed by his young victims who think that you are him.
Yeah, that's what I've been hearing from the fans. A lot of them simply appreciate an attempt at making the film, but others are upset it's not one-to-one. Honestly, I empathize with those people; I also prefer for movies to actually adapt the material as closely as possible to the source material. If non-fans think it's too goofy or whatever, good-- it's not for them.
I hate when studios want to adapt something and then change everything like with the new Avatar show, getting rid of the character arcs and just muddling a good show and for what. they had a blueprint of what fans wanted and just said "nah we're gonna make it worse just to be original and different"
Let's remember something, Scott cawthon, the creator, has a bit of a reputation when it comes to things he's a part of or has a hand in making. Sure it can go bad or not follow what fans wanted. However, he is known for taking that criticism and improving on his work. Sure, this movie wasn't the best, but now he knows what we are hoping for next time and will improve.
I feel like they had a bad balance, it seemed like the couldn’t decide if they wanted to be an adaptation or just a similar story, and the way they just kind of jumped back and forth at times was jarring and not overly great
The fort was a bit odd, I grant it, but I like to imagine that it’s more playing into the fact that the animatronics are still kids. That, and there’s something in the second game about how they’re still acting all nice to kids, so that could be pulling from that, but that’s a bit more shoestring.
I always come back!

The most logical answer to me: build up their trust by acting playful so they drop their guard.
yes, exactly this.
I got like 87 lol
Oh wow thats something i hadnt really considered before, but it makes a lot of sense
Huh, alright.
I can’t believe Jeremy made a Scream reference due to Matthew Lillard being the killer but didn’t point out him doing the knife wipe lol.
The fact that you called it "The bite of 83" instead of the Bite of 87" shows how much you did your research, bravo birdman, I commend you for that.
The lawyer's reactions to the aunt were the best parts of this movie

Was that the sin of 87
😬 maybe
No it was the sin of 83
Take my like damit.

WAS THAT THE SIN OF 87?!? 😮
Bruh
CinemaSins always confuses me. Are they a joke channel? Or a film criticism channel? Sometimes the criticisms are so terrible, that they just use the excuse that they are a comedy channel to defend themselves.
The answer is yes. And yes, it’s bad
@@unHolyEvelynso... Cartman's cover of Poker Face?
They use it as their job to squeeze as much ad revenues and sponsorships as possible. God bless capitalism.
To Jeremy's last point of "The film doesnt establish dying in the suit makes him a ghost", not only is anyone vaguely aware of the games able to know that yes it does, the eyes light up when Lillard puts on the head, which in the language of the series, means spirit possession
and it's also outright said in the movie...I wonder if he watched it.
That's not a theory. That's literally what movie is trying to show you. Show don't tell.
They should have made it seem way more sinister to emphasise that if that was the point
I think it is because they are children and since they are under control of afthon. And since he isnt there they become children again.
@@thegrandatm1844 yeah I agree I think the movie could’ve been darker
@@AnisterStarlight I just said theory cause I wasn’t sure what the scene implied when I’ve seen it, it’s just what I’ve seen online, but if it is what they’re trying to say then it makes sense
14:38 besides the "I'll be right back"/"I always come back" connection, when Afton wipes the knife earlier after his "symmetry my friend" line it is also clearly a reference to the Ghostface knife wipe from Scream
Also, did Jeremy called Hutcherson "Josh Futterman"? Cause if so, rare CinemaSins W for knowing the underrated masterpiece that is Future Man
Props to the Th3Birdman for going through the entire Game Theory's FNAF playlist just to debunk Cinemasins video once again.
The Books/Source Material Matter
@@vetortheplaguewerewolfThe books do not f*cking matter.
Yes they f*cking do
@@vetortheplaguewerewolf Cinemasins: the books don't matter unless they do.
why do we hear a Darth Vadar like breathing? where did one million sins come from?
I think at 11:48, Jeremy happened to not realize that the child just so happened to be a ghost and not actually wearing the suit.
11:40 Oh hey, there's a "WHAT THE HELL IS EVEN THAT?!" now! Nice to see it make an appearance in the EWWCS videos!
Same plus I watched film theory lol
The scene makes sense, yes, but that doesnt make it good
It's kinda funny to imagine what Jeremy's view on reality is like when he takes movies literally and thinks characters are real.
15:40 I remember that critics wanted the movie to be like the gameplay but I’m pretty sure no one wants to watch 2 hours of people watching cams
10:35 - Actually, in FNAF Security Breach, Glamrock Freddy is actually a sidekick to the main protagonist. He helps you survive throughout the game.
Then there's Roxy who is in Glamrock Freddy's role in Ruin and Rockstar Foxy in UCN who helps you if he doesn't decide to jump scare you
And there's FNAF World but we don't really talk about that
Honestly was a nice change for the games to have a FREDDY, be a sidekick to you. Regardless of the games flaws, I truly love that part of it.

Me who was already insecure about liking fnaf gameplay:
Gottem
Honestly same 😅
Same actually.
Holy shit love the matpat reference at the end great work as always
8:24 _NOT TO MENTION_ They literally said that the Pizzaria was huge in the 80s.
Someone, somewhere, would absolutely pay a shit ton of money for those Tokens.
Your right they'd go for A LOT on Ebay today in 2024.
Every time I see your thumbnail I don’t see it as “ Everything Wrong With Cinema Sins”
I see it as “Eww 🤢 Cinema Sins” lol
87 sin's for Jeremy even think of sinning this masterpiece of a movie
As a fan of both the movie and the franchise, calling this a masterpiece is really generous
Coming from a long time fnaf fan here:
its not a masterpiece
4:30
Ah a fellow BBQ sauce burger enjoyer i see.
I also do
Cinema sins literally thinking kids wouldn’t like a pirate
birdman, i agree with your statement at 4:27
bbq sauce is the correct choice, but ketchup is a fine alternative
God that Cs video pissed me off. We wanted a fnaf movie and got EXACTLY that. People love to complain. Great video as always Burd
0:50 Genuinely Blumhouse is one of my favourite movie studio openings- Its a nice show of what they've done, and shows you right away that they're a horror based studio
Also this is just a thing about the movie, but I ADORE the way the dream sequences are shot. Sound effects are louder and the camera cuts to what made the noise, cause its a detail Mike remembers
I think the only reason people hate on this movie so much is fnaf vhs videos making them except its gonna be 2 hours of barely visible shaky camera footage and gore
Critics found it boring and cliche but its critics
A subset of fans thought it deviated too much from the source material
People who hate the books hated the fact it took plot points from the books
And anyone who’s heard of what a springlock suit can do would be annoyed at the film portrayal
Not all the criticism is valid but people have options abd I know mine has lowered since I first watched it
The Stu/William Afton twist reveal at the end could also be a nod to when he Lillard played Shaggy in Scooby Doo, a series well known for its twist villain reveals.
Not gonna lie, I was NOT expecting you to do a FNaF video, given your stance on the franchise, but I love it! Also, Springtrap was definitely the best thing in this film. I can't wait to see him as a straight-up zombie in the third film!
I can never tell when CinemaSins is making a joke for the score or just genuinely rating.
2:39
Jeremy: this movie doesnt know how to screw correctly
birdman: neither do you and its a bolt
jeremy: “jeremy doesnt fuck cliche”
‘Objection: everyone knows the superior burger condiment is barbecue sauce’ FUCK YEAH, YOU TELL EM BIRD MAN!
1. All protagonists must have no flaws and be 100% agreeable,
2. Everything must be blatantly obvious so he can understand it
3. You must take no creative liberties from the original source material
4. Characters must always know exactly what’s going on, no one is allowed to have to find information out
Also not mentioning the film name unless you roll credits immediately and no logos no matter how few.
13:20 the lore on when william got springlocked is still unconfirmed but we do know that it is AFTER the first game.
Cinema sin: grrr phone call lore
Has bro never played fnaf 1? Every night has multi minute phone call!
Also the entire lore of the games is a family drama
I WAS PREPARING FOR A JUMPSCARE AT THE END BUT YOU FOOLED US!
0:52 Jermey sings terribly in a video cliche
EWW Puss in boots 2 and DND honor among thieves, when?
I really liked those movies
I was half-expecting a jump scare there at the end.
Cinemasins doesn’t understand why thieves would steal tokens from a nostalgic Chuck E. Cheese style restaurant from the 80s
5:50 I laughed at the little note in the corner. Most people don't bother with the Books when they talk about the movie or the games, so the fact that you did at least get a summary, if not just flat out reading them, is pretty cool.
I took my little brother to see this movie, and let me tell you... those baloon boy jumpscares got me every time.
Honestly I liked the fort building scene. It came out of nowhere
At this rate I don't even watch cinema sins, this guy is better and isn't insufferable
Jeremy sure acts a lot like a guy who knows the game lore for someone who doesn't even know Bonnie's gender
6:29
i now discovered that Minnesota is real 😂
10 months later but I feel the need to say anyways
Scott confirmed in an interview that the intent behind the fort scene was to show that yes, the animatronics are antagonists, but they're also victims. They are children, and even when they killed the vandals (Because this is a horror movie, Scott needed to get a kill count in) it was because they were sared. Scary adults came into whats become their home and started going around wrecking shit, they were defending their home, even if not in the best way, because they are *dead children*, even after everything
They are both antagonists for the story, since Mike is the protagonist, and victims of the ACTUAL villain, who was manipulating them, William
"disclaimer: i love cinemasins"
the people watching this: we don't
Nice, CinemaSins genuinely made me laugh by saying that Foxy wouldn't be liked by kids.
Tell me you've never touched the wrong side of FNAF.
As a Fnaf film, the movie is pretty good in my opinion. But as a horror film… meh, there’s that are better. Still love it though.
Honestly i thought cinema sins was going to cover the mattpat cameo then i had a moment to think. "Does cinema sins even know who mattpat is? Or any other youtuber for that matter?" Add a bite of 87 worth of sins
Omg did you just put a film theory line at the end! Your a legend birdman.
14:58 just wanna point out, he’s just called Mr. Cupcake, Carl is a name given by the fans, which is referenced, as that guy who’s face was mauled by Mr. Cupcake is named Carl.
Honestly i love that purple guy fur suits up when he knows he's gonna die and sticks the head back on, my theater cheered at that
I love how you explain it all your way better than cinemasins 😂
I see that you're a man of culture after the Mcjuggernuggets series reference at 12:03. Seeing the Psycho Series from 2012 until 2016 reminded me of Breaking Bad.
12:01 wtf is he talking about?! Non of the animatronics have human necks. Bc they're children stuffed into the suits. Most of there bodies are in the torsos
Less than a minute into this and my first thought is “Jesus Jeremy how much lazier are you going to get…”
I have been a huge Five Nights at Freddy’s fan since I was fairly young and I generally did enjoy this movie.
They did confirm that the second film will have more horror elements since they feedback they got.
I feel like they had a bad balance, it seemed like the couldn’t decide if they wanted to be an adaptation or just a similar story, and the way they just kind of jumped back and forth at times was jarring and not overly great
Chucky is powered by the magic he's constantly glazing on in every movie, he explained it in the TV show or one of the movies, i don't remember
I watched the Dead Meat Kill Count series for the franchise. The powers are mentioned in all of the early films.
The fort was a bit odd, I grant it, but I like to imagine that it’s more playing into the fact that the animatronics are still kids. That, and there’s something in the second game about how they’re still acting all nice to kids, so that could be pulling from that, but that’s a bit more shoestring.
I am so ready for random ad reads, I absolutely thought birdman was gonna segue into a factor ad read haha
Same
The biggest sin of cinemasins is that Jeremy left out MatPat
Did he ask if William was a ghost? No. He's a zombie.
Thats literally the plot of FNAF 3
