My name is Lucy, I'm a Dutchwoman here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my little passion project.
You'll find a bit of lifestyle content here as well, ranging from cozy chats over a cup of tea (my beloved Tea Time videos) to personal vlogs and home & interior videos.
Enjoy browsing!
Love,
Lucy

Never heard the "rinse with tap water before swimming" tip! I love swimming (in any pool or ocean) so that's super helpful
I can confirm that these tips can really work. I did summer field research for archaeology a couple years back where it was almost a 100F and full sun. I will say that wearing a sun hat and a French braid really keeps the hair protected from the sun. I also found that since I was having to wash it more (archaeology=soil) every time I washed my hair I just skipped normal conditioner, and always used conditioning mask like a normal conditioner. Now idk if this work for everyone, but the best thing that I noticed for my hair, was to always wash with cool/cold water. Seriously, I’ve always struggled with growing my hair out, and in that summer my hair grew like 4 inches lol.
Skin and hair tip: Don't leave the house!
Yh lmao
😂
I’m planning to get married next year in the autumn and will definitely be using some of these tips to get my hair into the best condition it can be so Thank you as always! Love your videos! X
another tip for swimming is, if u can, use a swimming cap. obviously not the most stylish thing ever but since chlorine can really damage your hair it helps a lot!
Can I just say your hair/makeup in this video is 10/10? You look amazing!
As fellow dutch girl: I buy my UVprotection hairspray at Etos for about €4 :)
Very useful tips. And dark hair knows how to get extremely hot within a short amount of time. I use UV hair products even though they are definitely expensive but I spend a lot of time on the beach so it's an useful investment though I didn't buy this year courtsey of quarantine. I thoroughly enjoyed the video.
I don’t know if your I. The USA or not but Sunbum has a UV heat protectant spray it’s called sunbum heat protector, it’s It’s a clear bottle with a yellow nozzle and it has a blue/clear liquid.
CAN U PLEEEASE TELL ME HOW YOU DID THIS HAIR STYLE!? The way its curled and styled is just so cute and looks effortless. I LOVE IT!😍😍😍
I love your curls in this one! Which method/products did you use?!
I love that you have similar hair as me. you have saved my hair life! I love love love the historical ones too
For those with colored hair, I’ve found that using a shampoo and conditioner with UVA/UVB protection year round helps with the color! It’s also useful for non-colored hair as well :)
What curl method did you use in this vid? It looks amazing!
i have extremely dry hair all my 28 years of life and very curly/puffy/unruly too. now i am trying your DIY hair oil !! :D it's only been 2 weeks but I already feel the good differences. thank you so so much 💖 it's life changing!
When i was made to take swimming in school my hair got so damaged. It went from medium brown to brown fringe around a bright red in back that faded to light blonde. Ended up pulling it into a low pony and cutting it off to make it look on purpose.
As someone with long and thick and colourd dark pink hair, I've already overheated twice to the point where I fainted andgot woozy lol That happened with my hair up and I had been drinking a lot as well. My body temp is quite high normally though, so it makes sense but yeah. Definitely liked the tips tho!
Oh and, my hair actually gets super soft when bathing in salt water lmao it's super weird
your hair looks extra good in this vid !!
Really needed this video...
Your hair looks so beautiful in this video! You look like a princess 💕
What are seasons? I’m a Floridian, it’s always summer lol
Oregonian here, sometimes we have them all in one day
Where’s the little straw hat from? Love it! Andrelon has a blonde line with UV protector in it
Your hair looks so beautiful
Thank you for these great tips! Love your videos :) You're sewing videos inspired me to start sewing my own clothes! Also, would it be possible for you to do a tutorial for hairstyles that look nice for those of us with thick hair?
What curl method did you use for this video? I love it! Thank you for the tips!!
I live by the sea, and my hair has always become better-looking after swimming in the sea :) So soft and nice
I always oil my hair before I go swimming. Best is overnight but a coat applied before a spontaneaous visit to the public swimming pool is also a good help.
I just use whatever oil I have on hand.
Gold Lust Oil by Oribe works wonders to prevent and repair damage from heat and chemicals. It really is like liquid gold for your hair! 😃
Might sound stupid but would oils "fry" the hair (specially dark hair) in the sun?
I think that depends on the oils, but I think so yes. They certainly do fry your hair if you use them before blow drying or flat ironing/curling it.
In Poland we have summer protect spray by Anwen, all her products are fantastic :)
Also raspberry seed oil has natural UV filter (not high, but always some protection for hair :) )
I use sun in to lighten my hair and it works well😁😍
So helpful, i would have never thought of these tips myself!
There's a certified natural hair care brand Lagona that has affortable and safe heat protector. Especially if you swim a lot in natural warters you NEED to take into consideration the effects your products have on the environment. And of course it's also good to care for the health of the people around you in pools too.
Please make a video about how to properly massage your scalp.
I use salt water spray to help style my hair, usually. So I wonder if that is kind of the same as swimming in salt water? Or does the hair react different on those two?
The weather in here is so hot . Hair during summer is affected by very high temperatures💔
I have curly frizzy ringlet hair and I usually straighten it with a hair iron. I use "It's A 10 Miracle heat protectant" but it is *expensive*. I wish I could find something with similar ingredients that is more affordable. :\ I really want to get either the Revlon One Step or the Hot Tools version but, I'm not sure how it would be on very curly hair.. And if it would be more heat damaging or less that blow drying and then ironing.. I'm sure it would cut out so much time if it works!
I found hair sunscreen from the brands Balea and Avon, they are both about 3 euros in my country
I love your cover photo of this video please teach me how did you do that please please please
Great video as usual! I love your Beauty Beacons series so much! Could you do a beauty tutorial on 60s femme fatale, Barbara Steele? Thank you!!
I like the thumbnail. It's very beautiful And also you look so pretty 🙈🙈🤗🤗🤗
Something I didn’t hear you mention in regard to summer hair- humidity and how that can affect hair. I know that my hair instantly becomes frizzy and even curlier (why I don’t even bother straightening my hair in the summer. No point, I’ll have curls at the front and at my neck within 5 minutes).
Any tips for that?
hair gel! I like forming a gel cast when i air dry my hair, and then scrunching it out when its fully dry. It doesn't completely get rid of frizz, but it definitely helps a lot. There are some great tutorials on youtube about how to do it. They saved my hair and my sanity when i moved to Florida.
Awesome tips! I didn't realize that hair also needs extra care in summer... Do you (or anyone else) have any extra tips for bleached hair? I bleached my hair for the first time this year going from very dark brown to blonde
Your hair is always so shiny thanks for these tips they will be so helpful also your makeup is so pretty !
Why don't they make hair sun screen? I would TOTALLY use it
Your hair is gorgeous. I adore the color. Its brown, but with just a hint of auburn. Is it a natural shade or "enhanced?" Its so pretty. Mine is somewhat similar but without as much auburn & goes blondish in the summer 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you! This is my natural colour 😊
@@Loepsie Ah! So lucky!! 😉🍀
@@iLitAfuseiCantStop my hair is curly.. Nd it's kinda very strange.. I have coffee brown, light brown ash, and cinnamon brown hair color..
I means different shades..
If you have brown hair and would like a auburn tint I'd recommend looking into henna. It gives a very natural auburn glow, I've used it for years by now and I love it
@@afgaming6028 That sounds so pretty!!!
You look sp pretty here.
You're doing great. Keep it up😀😀
I only WASH my hair once a week.(i do take showers more but i only wash my hair on Sundays)
I find that during the summer my hair gets SUPER DRY.
It gets so dry it SERIOUSLY does not grow!
I am ALSO on accutane for my skin(ITS AMAZING)...so that makes my hair even dryer!
LUCKILY this is my last month on accutane.
But about my hair...
Even without accutane my hair is super dry in summer...my hair seems to not grow for about 3-4 months through summer...
My hair has such a hard time growing and idk what to do to help it grow!
Ive tried growing it for YEARS!
Like 6 years.
I cut it 6 years ago real short to about my chin.
Because before that i had tried for 8 years to grow it out.
IT NEVER GOES MUCH FARTHER THAN MY COLLAR BONE.
The LONGEST i got it was about 2 inches above my nipples...but the ends were real dead and uneven so i had to trim it to even it up.
I used to wash my hair daily...that was even worse for it. So washing more will not help.
ANY HELP ON GROWING MY HAIR WOULD BE GREAT!
Use a leave in conditioner and get regular trims every several months. Deep condition your hair once in a while. Wear it in braids or buns to protect the ends from the damage. Be careful when you brush your hair. Sleep on a silk/satin pillow case. I hope this was helpful!
👒
Ur eyes are so so beautiful 😍😍😘😘
i just needed this!!! ^^" 🧡🧡🧡🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌈🌈🌈🌼🌼🌼
My go-to is a Swabian knot held with a homemade hairstick.
This would be great if I do go out~ (really don't want to go out in the 45°C heat here xD)
Es muy linda like 👍👍
In the Midwest (US) if you try to air dry hair in the summer, your hair will be wet for days. 😅 so so humid.
I have the same problem in Brisbane Australia (which is the sub tropics). I don’t bother straightening my hair in the summer, it’ll be curly and frizzy within 10 minutes.
