1. Apply sunscreen to scalp (recommends

2. Strong hold hair gel to prevent frizz - moisturise well beforehand (recommends Boucleme super hold styler or aveda be curly coil defining gel)
3. Coat hair with oi before swimming (e.g., coconut or argan oil)
4..Rinse hair thoroughly after swimming in sea/pool (e.g., Aveda curl protecting primer or Pacifica damage care leave in mask)
5. Co-wash hair if washing hair frequently
6. Hydrating deep conditioning treatment x1week
7. Use less heat - air dry rather than diffuse

I have really thick curly hair and in the summer it makes me extremely hot, so I end up always having it in a bun, braid, or clip so it's off my neck. But that causes a lot of breakage but I can't stand my hair down in the summer. Do you have any ideas on what I can do? Or some more protective hairstyles for summer?
