I remember when games were an escape from Reality. If i wanted to play a real world simulation i would fall back into nostalgic games like SimCity. Helldivers 2 is one of the best games I’ve ever played. And I’m not usually online co-op type gamer. But it’s amazing. And I loved starship troopers when I was a kid. I understood the satire even at 17.
Can you imagine the scenario in real life? Watching one of those doughnuts deploying to a planet surface and the moment they step out of their pod they come face to face with a bug, tell the bug to respect their pronouns and instantly the team is down a member when they get eviscerated.
That would be hilarious. I'd be Team Bug at that moment.

First of all it's a game not a dating site second you don't pick a character. The characters are soldiers who died when you die then you're playing a different person. The voice is not that of your character it's of the random soldier that has been picked for you to control. On top of that robots and insects don't care about your sexuality. Starship Troopers the movie, is a satire according to the director. But the novel, is actually required reading at West Point, and is absolutely NOT a satire.

You do need to be connected to the internet to play. I want to play the game also, but I want to wait for it to go on sale because I have been spending too much on games lately. I also can't stand the download size of all these new games.

@@kurejiakuma Yeah I haven't played Call of Duty for years now, since I switched over to PC. One reason being the download size but mainly the direction they went with the newer games. Hell Divers 2 is 100gb of storage on PC, which is pretty average nowadays unfortunately. I would rather play the classic games, like I'm playing a bunch of Warhammer games currently, like Dawn of War and Space Marine.

What if the devs allowed friendly fire on those “special forces” of the woke mafia wearing those capes? Would they approve of the normal players using friendly fire on the freaks? It’s a game, if they want to play war, then they should expect such….weapon malfunctions.
I haven't seen anything about this at all, this seems to be a manufactured controversy. As someone who is VERY active on twitter and is in the helldivers discord, the only thing I am taking away from this is that adding ANY flags is bad, as if you're going to go as far as saying just adding a trans flag is considered propaganda, adding any kind of flag would be too. I also think that just narratively it wouldn't work, as adding any cosmetics that are too over the top would just be stupid, and end up in a COD situation with goofy cosmetics which didn't really fit what the franchise was all about only 10 years ago.
EDIT: Also I don't really understand why you consider the flag itself propaganda, as with that loose of parameters you could apply it to anything, whether it be a MAGA hat, or as you said, a Ukraine flag. The devs aren't trying to suppress the woke mob or anything stupid like that, because in truth they probably don't care. At this point people who are bitching about the letter mafia are just morons who can't accept that these people exist. I used to do it, and then I realized that it doesn't affect me. I don't turn gay just because I see a pride flag or a gay character in a video game, thats something that is going to be a baseline thing and be pre-decided at my birth, just like if I would feel like I'm not the right gender in my body (thank god I'm natural born man).
