Yay "Super-month" is over now Super Critic can stop flying in the sky Critic drop from sky to the ground Critic goes "ow" Fun fact "The Snyder cut" of "justice league" is whopping 4 hours long dang was that long gee I wonder what's in stored for the new season depends if the studios gets fixed from maintenance hmm any ideas ?
Fun Fact: Despite directorial credits, Zack Snyder has never actually seen the theatrical cut of Justice League (2017). Reportedly, his wife Deborah Snyder and his good friend and executive producer Christopher Nolan advised him to never see it, as it would "break his heart."
That sounds like a lie to me. He clearly changed some things in the Snyder cut based on the critical response to the Whedon cut. A lot of Aquaman’s dialogue was edited out even though it was present in the original trailer for JL before the Snyder cut came out because he saw people didn’t like it.
If I had to leave my magnum opus because my daughter died tragically, then saw that the director who took my place came and turned it into a cheap joke, I’d be heart broken too.
"Look, up in the sky! It's a bird!" "It's a plane!" (And here I want Tamara's character to sigh and look up) "No, that's Superman..." (Camera pans out, Doug's superman is in the sky just 10 feet away) "You guys need some better prescriptions..."
@@HisVirusness yes, why would he even take the box instead of giving it to Victor and the others? They were right there, and marking it with heat signature is dumb cuz the box itself is abnormal for tracking….it’s just all so bad writing
Thank you for making Supermonth a success. I genuinely think this is some of Snyder's best work and it's my favorite DCEU movie. I especially love what he did with Cyborg. He can control the world's machines through this digital world in his mind and the first thing he does with it is watch a struggling single mother and give her a bunch of money. He went form the most boring character in the Whedon version, to the most interesting and my favorite.
@@thusnameddigital9397 Greedy studio bosses wanted to trim the film down to as short as possible to pack in as many screenings as possible and rush it out before the end of the calendar year so they could get their bonuses.
I will say, the one thing from the Whedon version I did miss was the lasso joke. The scene where Aquaman starts spilling his guts and you find out he had accidentally sat on the Lasso Of Truth. I actually really liked that scene.
Now that SuperMonth is over here are more Superman movies you need to review: Superman: Brainiac Attacks Superman: Doomsday All-Star Superman Superman vs. The Elite Superman: Unbound The Death of Superman Reign of Superman Superman: Red Son Superman: Man of Tomorrow DC Universe's Superman(when it comes out)
@@MKUltra77715 that movie doesn't even exist. It is simply a comic which was released 2 days before Man of Steel. However, it would be nice to see an animated TV adaptation of it.
@@nathank2289 100% agree. It truly gets who Superman is supposed to be. Upon reading the comment section on Superman Explains Why He Faked His Rage by Ciri The Ashen One it reminded me why I loved superheroes in the past and why they are important long before Invincible and The Boys. I remember watching this movie in my home country of Albania dubbed in albanian in 2013. I remember rooting for Superman and feeling sad for him when everyone started siding with The Elite. When he explained that he faked his rage in order to make a point I felt relieved and cheered for him when he convinced the world why he matters. As I grew older I started to understand Manchester Black's motivation and where he comes from, but what he was doing was still wrong. Nowadays we have been so spoiled by deconstructive series like The Boys and Invincible that we have forgotten why we loved superheroes in the first place. The reason why these 2 shows are beloved is because they are a breath of fresh air in a sea of samey superhero movies and TV shows. The MCU, the DCEU and the Arrowverse certainly have made it worse by falling into that pitfall and giving traditional superhero stories a bad name. The reason the DCAU, and all the Marvel cartoons from the past, either from the 90s or the late 2000s as well as EMH(well, most of them) are beloved is because they bring superheroes as well as iconic stories to life. Sure, they are not as high stakes or as violent as the former 2 shows because they are targeted to kids, but that doesn't change the fact that they are timeless and can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of what age. Even the animated movies which are targeted to an older audience (either R-rated or PG-13 rated) get superheroes. It was long before people complained about plot armor in superhero movies and TV shows. The one show that is the closest to getting superheroes is My Hero Academia, a shounen anime but even that is facing criticism lately as well. There is nothing wrong with deconstruction but people should never forget why superheroes matter and why they should always be depicted as good people.
The difference between the Justice League cuts are night and day. I'm so grateful Snyder got to have it made. Every artist deserves really to have their story be told for better or worse. Regardless of how long the film is and repetitive camera work usage, it's still pretty damn phenomenal what we got here.
He didn't even talk about how fucking amazing the MUSIC is!! I like Danny Elfman, but frankly his soundtrack for the Whedon Cut was poop. Tom Holkenborg did a FANTASTIC job. The part where Superman stops Steppenwolf's axe was BEYOND EPIC, and made even better by his remixed MoS theme. It's so good it's on my running playlist. I can't believe he didn't even mention "At the Speed of Force"!!
18:24 That meant that Lois Lane was the key to making Superman regain his humanity like that one episode in the animated series where, in a different dimension Superman started to work for lex because she died
Snyder is one of the most "love it or hate" movie directors I've seen lol. Fans and detractors on both sides are VERY vocal about their opinions on the films.
Fun Fact: That unidentified woman standing next to Darkseid and Desaad is supposed to be Granny Goodness, one of the zanier dc villains and one of the many zany subordinates of Darkseid
Fun fact: you have to point that out to people because this movie version looks so little like the character from the comics that it's easy to not recognize her.
Another Fun Fact: Victor Stone/Cyborg was originally described as the "heart of the movie" by Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, but Joss Whedon controversially cut most, if not all, of Cyborg's storyline for the theatrical version. Victor's plot line is restored in this version.
Cyborg is definitely the best character in the movie and although I don't believe Snyder truly understands a lot of DC Comics and their characters I really loved how well he wrote Cyborg and fleshed out his story so much more that he, ironically, feels more like a human being. Funny how Joss-tice League movie in an attempt to make him human ultimately made the character feel more robotic on screen
@@autobotproductions1244does he? Exactly what arc does he have other than working with the team? Especially when the choices he made lead to his father dying
I still can't get over Whedon having Batman say: "Yep. Something is definitely bleeding." I don't even watch superhero films and even I thought that this was too goofy, even for the MCU!
WB just had to catch up and do anything the MCU were doing. "It's to bleak. Make it funny". Originality is better than copy and paste. People have different tastes in film's.
i always thought the joke would of worked better if Barry came up and said it "Bruce, youre bleeding!" and Batman gives either the camera a 4th wall break look or he looks at Barry like 'you didnt just say that'
This movie was a complete surprise of how it surpassed the theatrical cut in every single way in terms of story, pacing, music and character development. Also, Cyborg was the best part of this movie that if you take all his scenes, it's enough to be a movie for his character.
Well they definitely should have have the cyborg movie before this and have it be a direct tie in, like as cool as the Cyborg scenes were, I wish they could have been on his movie, and focus this movie more.
One of my favorite moments in this film is hearing Batman saying "Faith, Alfred! Faith!". You see that he changed from paranoid and obsessed man who said in BvS " If we believe there is even 1% chance that he is our enemy, we have to take it as an absolute certainty ". He believes again and it's so satisfying.
Snyder may be a complete joke with some of his projects, Hello Rebel Moon but I can't deny that I enjoyed this version of Justice League way more than Josstice League.
can't really judge rebel moon until the directors cut comes out, same with other theatrical vs directors cuts of him. Rebel Moon is originally a love letter to heavy metal magazin, a story about sex and violence, and the shorter netflix edit literally edits out all the sex and violence, so we have to wait for the proper version to come out
I love the "Father Twice Over" epilogue. It's very touching and now I see it as the ending to the DCEU. However, after Superman rips his shirt open, that's when the movie should have ended. I didn't care for the other extra scenes with Martian Manhunter, Lex Luthor and Joker.
The 4 hour run time makes far more sense when you remember justice leageu was suppised to be 2 films And if hou cut it in half, both halves work as complete 3 act structures If the first film ends on the first battle with steppenwolf, and the 2nd half starts with them resurrecting superman, it works as 2 complete films
Not gonna lie, that stuff with Cyborg SEEING the internet, makes me REALLY want a modern Shadowrun movie. THAT is exactly what that's supposed to look like
Well now I just want to see a scene were someone throws a seed, only for a magical tree to sprout up, and a horde of green beret elves just storm out of the bark.
I ADORED the scene where he sees huge piles of money in a bank, yet a small stash of it draws his attention. Cyborg finds out that the owner of that small account is a single or widowed mother who is working multiple jobs to provide for her children, on top of an eviction notice. He then increases the money in her account when she only had $11 left for herself & her children. I loved her reaction to suddenly having a huge bonus in her count, with Cyborg watching her from a distance as she collects the money & presumably pays her bills so that they will still have a roof over their heads. That was so wholesome! 🥲
@@ii-mp1sp Because he has NO PLACE in the League. He was literally put there as a replacement to Martian Manhunter so there would be a black guy in the League. Even though John Stewart as Green Lantern is also a popular character, member of the league, and black. Cyborg is a Teen Titan. And he always will be.
Something I noticed was when Alfred says "Now let's hope you're not too late" to Superman, he gestures towards the S on his suit, since it means Hope on Krypton.
8:29 what a funny description 11:47 the most meaningful addition after the snyder cut was actually finished 15:30 I just liked the scene about ""if you can't bring down the charging bull, don't wave the red cape at it / this red cape charges back" 19:06 A book ends to supermonth 24:24 we are getting both eventually right?
Another Fun Fact: Ciarán Hinds's Steppenwolf is entirely redesigned for this film as Zack Snyder intended to. Even his voice is more intimidating and distorted than his voice in Justice League (2017). According to Weta Digital's Simeon Duncombe and Anders Langlands, as the film's Animation Supervisor and Visual Effects Supervisor, they were essentially going back to Snyder's original vision with the Snyder Cut, revisiting all elements that were planned beforehand; thus, restoring the original vision rather than having to create something new. Steppenwolf's Snyder Cut look was even clearly hinted in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).
On one hand, seeing Martian Manhunter more in the DCEU would have been awesome. On the other hand, if we would have kept Eisenberg Luthor and (shudder) Leto Joker, maybe it's better things end here.
I actually see this movie as akin to one of those Greek epics that we learned when we were younger. From the color grading to Snyder’s vision, definitely not my prime Justice League but I see where Snyder was going with his trilogy.
If even a U.S. senator is calling out the stupidity of Warner's tax write-offs, it's all the more reason why David Zsaslav should be fired as leader of the company
The Nostalgia Critic review of Man of Steel feels more like the Synder Cut of his Justice League review than this review of the Justice League Synder Cut.
Doug, it would mean a lot to me if you reviewed these following movies: - Wild Thornberrys Movie (starring Tim Curry and Lacey Chabert) - Blast from the Past (starring Brendan Fraser and Christopher Walken) - Undercover Brother (starring Neil Patrick Harris and Dave Chappelle) - Igor (an animated film starring John Cusack and Steve Buscemi) - Spiderwick Chronicles (starring Freddie Highmore and Seth Rogen) - Penelope (starring Christina Ricci and James McAvoy) - Aliens in the Attic (starring Kevin Nealon and Doris Roberts) - The 10th Kingdom (a miniseries starring John Larroquette and Dianne Wiest) Thank you very much and please accept my requests.
@@sakunaruful I just checked and I found out that neither Doug Walker nor Channel Awesome have Patreon accounts. Also, I think it's more useful to give film requests here on UA-cam, since they're more likely to be noticed here than on social media.
Zack Snyder doesn't really have a bad reputation. He's just kind of a hack who's all style and no substance. Or a BRILLIANT AMAZING FILMMAKER. Depending on whether the person you ask is part of his cult-y fanbase or not. Whedon, on the other hand, increasingly does have a bad reputation, for reasons largely unrelated to his output. So on the one hand, you have the increasingly unpopular Whedon Frankensteining together a movie in an increasingly unpopular franchise started by someone else who has a wildly different vibe, compared to the Snyder Cut, which was Snyder getting to do his thing, his way, and cram it as full of fan service as he possibly could in the hopes that it would result in him getting to make more movies. The Snyder cult loved it, but otherwise I think the reaction was generally "It's not bad. Better than the other one. Kinda long, though." Which is not the reaction WB was hoping for, which is why there's no more DCEU.
Snyder has a pretty toxic fanbase, but the guy himself seems pretty benign, he is just a debatably mediocre director who just keeps getting TONS of money to make not very good movies. Whedon on the other hand was a legitimate geek god for a long time, but has proven himself to be a real problematic asshole over the past few years, his mess of a “Justice League” movie was just a part of his long fall from grace. Snyder didn’t exactly have a high bar to clear with his cut, and he just barely made it over.
The one and only time i've watched this film. Even though it's 4 hours long. It took me 8 hours to finish.. I watched an hour and a half. Took an hour and a half break. Watched another hour and a half. Took a 2 hour break. Then watched the final hour of the film.
More things to add about this version of the movie: - This movie was leaked early on HBO Max when you play the recent Tom and Jerry movie. - Ray Fisher is blacklisted from Hollywood for investigating and telling the truth about what happened on the set of Whedon cut. This went from talking to Geoff Johns, Whedon, and several executives who invited him over for dinner just to have him say "Booyah" in the movie. EDIT: As of September, Ray Fisher is out of the Hollywood blacklist and is now getting praise for his performance in Malcolm Washington's 'The Piano Lesson' and could potentially enter the Oscar nominations. - Gal Gadot was put in a room with Whedon and humiliated her for not filming a scene of Flash falling on top of her. Several shots of her were done by a body double. She was even called Natasha from Joss Whedon. - Ray Porter lost his voice when he voiced Darkseid back in 2017. - Jeremy Irons called Whedon's rewrites "fucking shit" and wrote his own dialogue instead. - Chris Terrio called his lawyers to get his name removed from the Whedon Cut. Imagine how bad your rewrites are if the guy who co-wrote "Somehow Palpatine returned" wants his name out of the movie. - Fabian Wagner was the cinematographer for the Snyder Cut and was crying when he watched the theatrical cut. - Tom Holkenborg created tracks and themes for the movie when Snyder was still on board. When he was replaced by Danny Elfman for the music, Tom's early work was put in different movies like Tomb Raider, Alita, etc. - Snyder wasn't aware of how much of his scenes were cut out, so he posted his storyboards and screenshots (with theatrical cut of Steppenwolf) on Vero, which surprised fans with how different the movie was. That's also how he found out about Whedon's additions when his fans were commenting on his posts since Deborah Snyder and Christopher Nolan told him not to watch the movie. - Flash's time travel was cut out because Warner Brothers didn't understand it. Keep in mind that this was the same studio that wondered why Superman couldn't fly back to Krypton at the end of Man of Steel. - Whedon was brought on board to add "hope and optimism" to the movie, despite the Snyder Cut being the most hopeful movie Zack has ever done. Warner Brothers released a false statement that Snyder chose Whedon to take over the production of Justice League. - When Whedon's cut was about to be released, Geoff Johns tweeted to Superman fans to revise their lists for best Superman moments in DCEU. It wasn't revised until the Snyder Cut was released. - John Stewart's Green Lantern was meant to appear at the end. The actor was cast and filmed, but WB opted to use the Martian Manhunter ending instead. - WB executives were not happy on Snyder using the black suit, so he convinced them to use the brighter version of the red and blue suit that he can secretly change it to black in post-production. This isn't the first time Zack did something like this behind WB's back: they wanted to remove the opening titles of Watchmen from the script, so Zack secretly filmed the opening credits scenes himself without WB's supervision. Here's the big one: - When Zack Snyder was on board for the new Superman movie, he was planning to do a trilogy of Superman movies. However, after the success of MoS and the high popularity of MCU, Warner Brothers wanted Zack Snyder to drop his plans for Superman trilogy and instead do the DCEU entirely. As a result, Snyder had an entire blueprint laid out for his DC universe when working with David Ayer, Patty Jenkins, James Wan, Ben Affleck and Rick Famuyiwa. Aquaman and Wonder Woman are all the same. Suicide Squad was changed from David Ayer's original cut to the theatrical mess. Affleck's Batman would've had Batman fighting Deathstroke (for killing Jericho after losing Dick Grayson) in Arkham Asylum with Batgirl helping Bruce, and taking inspiration from David Fincher's The Game. The plot also involved Deathstroke framing Batman and ruining Wayne Enterprises, which is why Lex reveals his identity to Slade at the end. John Cleese hinted at playing William Wintergreen, Deathstroke's butler. The Flash movie would've had Barry and Iris investigate his dad's innocence while fighting Captain Cold and encountering Jay Garrick. It would've been revealed that corrupt police officers killed Barry's mom, not Reverse Flash. Justice League 2 would've had Legion of Doom (Lex Luthor, Dr Poison, Captain Cold, Ocean Master, Black Manta) fighting Justice League while Batman and Lois investigate the Anti-Life Equation. Riddler figures out the universe's greatest riddle and kills himself. The movie ends with Darkseid killing Lois and starting the Knightmare sequence. Clark succumbs to the Anti-Life Equation and becomes Darkseid's slave. Justice League 3 would take place 5 years after JL2 with the remaining heroes and villains joining together to save the world. They build the Cosmic Treadmill to help Flash get to the moment before Darkseid kills Lois since the last time Flash went in time, he was "too soon". Batman would tell Flash to save Lois properly but there would be a twist: Lois' child belongs to Bruce, not Clark. (In early drafts, both of them had a connection during Clark's death and I don't think Lois and Bruce are a good combo. There was more chemistry between Bruce and Diana thanks to BvS and Snyder Cut, so Lois' child is still Clark's.) Because of the revelation, Bruce sacrifices himself and saves Lois, preventing Clark from becoming evil. After that, an entire world becomes the Justice League with heroes, Suicide Squad, Amazonians, Atlanteans, and Green Lantern Corps all working together to stop Darkseid and his invasion, once and for all. (There is a conspiracy theory that Joss Whedon looked at those plans and gave them to Feige for Infinity War and Endgame. Down to time travel, 5 years later, portals moment, the main character dying and a cliffhanger.) In the end, Diana would've become the Queen of Amazon after her mother's death, Arthur would've become the ruler of the 7 seas, Superman would get back his red and blue suit, Flash would get his dad back from jail, Cyborg would get his human form whilst having his powers and Lois' child would become the new Batman in the future. The illustrations and story beats for both movies were put in an exhibition promoting The Snyder Cut. The final movie in the "Snyderverse" would've been Flashpoint as Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan weren't cast for no reason in BvS. They were going to be saved for the future as Batman and Joker. Flashpoint movie would've revealed that Reverse Flash was responsible for almost every single moment ever happening in the DC universe that led to this point and wanting to ruin Barry Allen's life, meaning Barry's life was pretty much a lie. The movie would end as a reboot with Snyder leaving and letting other filmmakers do their own DC movies. Some of Zack's ideas were implemented in the later DC movies: The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
That sucks. So they would do time travel two more times? So now the DC universe is pointless now. Just send the Flash back to fix what was screwed up. Lois and Bruice having a child together is just stupid.
can't believe whoever was in charge of editing saw the climatic scene with Flash saving the world, and was like "yea...lets cut that out and have him speak russian pushing a pickup truck saving one family"
It fit more with his character in Joss’s cut, saving a family would make more sense since he claims he never did time travel in such a large scale, add that suddenly he just can do the time travel out of nowhere and you got an inconsistent character
He was right to cut it, since giving Flash an instant reset power completely destroys the stakes of anything they could have done in the movie. Even with vague mentions of weather it can work or not, it's still detrimental for the stakes of the movie.
@@ninjanibba4259 the movie literally details how he has travelled at the speed of light and yeah u are just being ridiculous saying they should cut it when it gives Barry's character arc full circle and especially being the best of the best
To me this movie feels more like a fantasy epic than a standard superhero movie (more 'Lord Of The Rings' than 'Avengers'). DC in general is more a world of gods mythology while Marvel is more Sci-Fi (with the Justice League as a godly pantheon), and this movie ties into that beautifully to me
@@kityhawk2000essentially yes. It's a generalisation but overall marvel leans more into "ordinary bloke in a experiment/event gone wrong" while DC is more "what if gods were on earth?"
A lot of people don't know this but Malcolm's portrayal of cyborg was cut out from this review. He was supposed to reprise his role and he was reduced to 0%. I demand the 10 hour cut of this review! 😜
Green Lantern showing up during Superman's revival would have been amazing. Since he's a space hero you can just say he just came back from a space mission. What I would have given to have another live action Green Lantern 😢 I would have liked to have seen what Snyder could have done with a Green Lantern.
I wouldn't mind WB do an animated Justice League movie for the big screen. The same should go for Teen Titans as well, as I would like to see DC and WB do animated movies for the big screen since the Lego Batman Movie.
Even though I wouldn't call this the best movie in the DCEU, it's still admirable and I'm glad that Zack Snyder got to finally release his vision after that theatrical trainwreck version came out four years prior to it. It's also an improvement over his two previous DCEU movies.
It's crazy WB wanted to do everything MCU were doing. Yet didn't get the results they wanted. Then once they get out of the directors way, there is a better film made.
The reveal of Martian Manhunter pissed me off especially given like in the theatrical cut if you cut him from the film, and the franchise you miss nothing.
@@michaelnally2841Worse yet it means the heartfelt scene of Lois and Clark's mother is ruined due to A, Lois was talking to Manhunter instead of Clark's mom and B. He nearly screwed everyone by trying to get Lois to get past her loss. If she hadn't of gone to his memorial that day then Superman would have killed Batman.
@@nicholas2153 and the fact that if we’re led to believe he’s been here since man of steel he could’ve helped Superman fight general zod and the kryptonians! Which is not only a waste of a character (which is why I feel this was a very last minute addition), and is really outta character for J’ohn jones who’s the last of his kind to just sit up and not help prevent something that could destroy the planet. And the saddest part is the animated justice league series and the supergirl tv series had a blueprint of what kinda role he could’ve fulfilled in a Justice League movie ie a nick fury like role to bring the team together.
He should have been there or not reviled untill the end of the movie! Or if he was foreshadowed, then it shoud have been as a homeless man or something, not Martha Kent and the general!😐
Darkseid looked absolutely magnificent in this movie! And of course the same goes to steppenwolf. To this day I wish we could’ve gotten a Martian manhunter movie but at this point it’s probably a good thing we don’t have it now. To me this movie is the last of the DCEU movie like how I believe Logan was the last of the X-men movies. And no one will ever tell me differently.
When I saw the trailers for the theatrical cut, I was not really that excited for it. However, they did include Alfred in the trailer hunting that he was talking to Superman and I was disappointed it was cut out. So I was glad to see it in this. And this director’s cut is truly better. It really does make Cybrog’s character better. And it truly made me excited with the climax. I will admit there are stuff here and there from the theatrical cut that I did like, but the Snyder Cut is still mostly better.

The Snyder Cut must have stretched into the review because I was genuinely shocked to see that this was only 25 minutes long INCLUDING the sponsor Not going to lie, this actually makes me want to watch it now. Heck, this is MAKING me want to watch it now that's how good this seems to be.
I like how the greek carvings above darkseid where it's written skotomidis darksidios basically mean dark darkseid in greek as it's simply his name (a little altered) in "greek" letters and the word dark (as well being a little altered) and used as an adjective to indicate that he's even more "dark" than "darkness" alone can get...
Fun fact: In the actual comics of Justice League, it was the aliens called the parademons that killed Victor Stone's mom and the impact of the boom tube when they were traveling through disintegrated Victor's body which is how he became Cyborg
Great review! I love the fact that your reviews focus more on deeper analyses and appreciation of the craft rather than just screeching. This is far better than the Honest Trailer video. That one sucked horribly. Seriously, it seemed like they were trying to sabotage themselves.
I don't think Snyders verse was good, it was.. pretty bad, but this was the best of the films he put out, I wish him the best in life because he wen through so much, it must be some small victory to have his vision put to screen
Snyder cut was good specially Gal Gadot wonder woman role. Made a permanent place in our heart. Can't believe they are not considering Gal for wonder woman anymore. Dc is 🗑 now
yes when you let snyder "cook" he bakes a bloated sloppy overcooked mess. Snyder's basically always been shit and just gotten away with it. Thanks to things like rebel moon and that Zombie slop he made at least people are finally starting to realize how much he sucks.
We didn't know Thanos was coming when Loki was the villain in the first Avengers. That wasn't revealed until the end of the film. Also, Loki is 1,000× more interesting than Steppenwolf in the films.
11:51 To add to this, when Zack was asked how he felt mentally making this finished film and "my mental state in 2017, and why I wanted to finish this movie (his daughter was a massive JL fan and would play with the pros and costumes ) and why I didn't want to be paid fo finish it. Look at the billboard..that's all I can really say about that right now guys" Hope he is doing ok. Losing your kid is something no parent should go through. Also the like "best of the best" is what he would say to her when she would ask him "what is my worth dad?" I have a lot of dislikes of zack's style But that hit's me where I live. And if finishing a movie gives him a but of peace, then I'm glad this was made.
I cracked up at 16:34 with the line, some of us just have a car 😝😝. And the way he says the word car, makes it so much funnier. Had to play that line several times 😁😆🤣.
This movie honestly makes me sad almost none of these actors will be staying on. Espeically Henry. Guy played the hell outta Superman and was just given the worst scripts. He deserved so much better.
You did a great job on this review. I agree that the main movie or to be more specific the first three hours are the best. The epilogue was really rough to sit through and Martian Manhunter looked so terrible in CGI make-up. Thank you for sharing this video with us. I hope to see you again at another comic convention sometime. This movie is a great production and for certain it’s a fantastic journey. Although first and foremost in my heart when I think about the Justice League I will always remember the opening story from the DCAU series which I watched in my youth. However the Snyder cut is indeed a fantastic example of a bold experiment that is grand to watch.
Not really. The times - and economics of streaming, and WB ownership - have wildly changed since the Snyder Cut was greenlit. Back then, AT&T was “throw everything against the wall to get HBO Max subscribers, no matter the cost.” Now, streamers are on a diet, and WB’s new owners are looking at profitability, not Max subscribers.
The whole “Release the Snyder Cut” thing was basically astroturfed for one, and there is a new head at WB who is really bad at his job, so that probably won’t see the light of day anytime soon.
This remake was good, but there is a reason you cut down the final length. We got many long filler scenes, like the women singing a full song on a beach. It slows down the pacing.
It wasn't a remake, but Snyder getting to fulfill his vision after he was forced to walk away for the original release. I didn't mind that scene as it added gravitas to the character. The only scenes I thought dragged the movie down were the slow-mo sequences set to slow non-diegetic songs. These felt like music videos being inserted into the movie.
@@ninjanibba4259it's a matter of taste, but I really liked it. It really highlights how alone Arthur is. Even this community he's trying to be a part of and help worships him like a god instead of seeing him as one of them. He's from the sea and the land, but doesn't feel like he belongs in either. His whole character arc is finding his people (the Justice League) and finally accepting his place on both land and sea, leading to him going home to his father, and then going to Atlantis, going into the plot of the Aquaman movie
@@ninjanibba4259 well I'm not gonna argue with you about something regarding taste. It's subjective, and if it didn't speak to you then it didn't speak to you. Personally, that's what I got out of it, and at the end of the day it's art, and people derive different meanings from it.
I’m gonna say it while this is still pretty good I still prefer the 3 part episode secret origins from the cartoon. Every time I watch it I feel like I’m watching a Justice league movie and keep in mind not a single villain from the comics is in it they’re just alien invaders yet you feel a sense of dread from them
Another Fun Fact: During Victor Stone's origin flashback before he becomes Cyborg, he is in a big football match against another university team. There is a brief shot revealing that the opposing team was a university from Wisconsin, which is the home-state of director Zack Snyder.
I'll always Consider 300 Snyders best directed film, but this Film is the best vision of his universe that made Man of Steel/Wonder Woman/Batman vs Superman a cohesive vision.
@@vetarlittorf1807don't pretend that I am trying to be edgy to defend this horrible movie. The snyder cut was already edgy on its own. The fact that Wonder Woman inspired through murder in this movie is proof of that. This movie didn't stay true to Wonder Woman's character at all. It just assassinated her character, even what was previously established about this version of Wonder Woman.
@@StareachValcin You obviously don't know the first thing about the character. She kills her enemies if she feels she has to. It's been that way since the 80's.
He wasn't loyal he tried to overthrow Darkseid. The reason he's trying to conquer Earth is that this is his punishment for his betrayal he has to conquer 50000 worlds for Darkseid to redeem himself
Sadly, mistake remains- Ezra Miller tries to emulate Tom Holland's version of Peter without understanding what makes it work and having none of the charisma to pull it off
Fun fact: Snyder originally filmed the ending with an unknown actor playing Green Lantern (John Stewart) meeting with Bruce Wayne but despite the studio giving him the creative freedom he wanted, he was apparently forced to scrap the character and replace him with Martain Manhunter as they apparently had plans for a Green Lantern TV series (which I don't think was going to be part of the DCEU)
I get goosebumps every time I see the flash saying to him self he has to reverse time this time, I legit feel he knows it’s this or nothing and the music behind it is perfection. Even got goosebumps in the short clip in the review not even exaggerating
Another Fun Fact: The movie's teaser has Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" song in it - which was also used by director Zack Snyder previously in Watchmen (2009).
The scene where Bruce says he bought the bank is easily my favorite part of either of the versions of Justice League. I don't like either one at all. The Snyder cut is definitely much better, but I don't like his filmmaking style or the story he came up with.
Think we can all agree that Flash running scene at the end was one of Snyder’s best DCEU moments. Hell everything done with Flash and Cyborg in the Snyder Cut was a massive step above the theatrical version.
@@zacharybartolo5111Depends of the quantity? I haven't seen The Flash movie and the second of Aquaman but for now I almost don't mind almost plotholes. But it depends of how many there come to be, a house with little holes still makes you feel safe, a house with a lot of holes makes you think it's unstable.
No. Flash's running scene to reverse time is just spectacle disguised as a good scene ignoring established consequences that Flash himself tried and failed to convey. The justice league unlimited cartoon had a better Flash running scene that actually had consequences while making Flash look great.

It was really pointless

Fun Fact: Barry refers to Diana as "Wonder Woman." This is the first time that name is spoken in a DCEU film.

...Really?
Stop lying
I love how people forgot how Wonder Woman was *NEVER* referred to as Wonder Woman in any DCEU movie until that point.

Fun Fact: Despite directorial credits, Zack Snyder has never actually seen the theatrical cut of Justice League (2017). Reportedly, his wife Deborah Snyder and his good friend and executive producer Christopher Nolan advised him to never see it, as it would "break his heart."
Honestly? Smart move on their part
Good thing they told him not to do it because that version suck
Why do I feel like he's gonna watch it 20 or so years later and die from sadness?
That sounds like a lie to me. He clearly changed some things in the Snyder cut based on the critical response to the Whedon cut. A lot of Aquaman’s dialogue was edited out even though it was present in the original trailer for JL before the Snyder cut came out because he saw people didn’t like it.
If I had to leave my magnum opus because my daughter died tragically, then saw that the director who took my place came and turned it into a cheap joke, I’d be heart broken too.

He went from a nobody to a cinnamon role with a heart of gold.
My second favorite Cyborg, just after the Teen Titans (2003) version.
I will never understand why that was cut from the original.
Now that SuperMonth is over here are more Superman movies you need to review:

Superman: Doomsday

Is Glorious Godfrey in there anywhere? I can't bring myself to watch this thing to find out, I'm just curious.
It's not a coincidence Doug brings up Ed Asner when she's shown. Granny was featured in Justice League Unlimited voiced by him.
I wouldn't call her zany. Aside from the silly name, she's a very dark character.
Fun fact: you have to point that out to people because this movie version looks so little like the character from the comics that it's easy to not recognize her.
OH CMON!!! GODDAMN IT THATS COOL!!!! DC PLEASE BRING SNYDER BACK!!!!!

WB just had to catch up and do anything the MCU were doing. "It's to bleak. Make it funny". Originality is better than copy and paste. People have different tastes in film's.
i always thought the joke would of worked better if Barry came up and said it "Bruce, youre bleeding!" and Batman gives either the camera a 4th wall break look or he looks at Barry like 'you didnt just say that'
@MarkFilipAnthony the line the people made fun of in BvS was the Martha one I don't remember anyone being that bothered by " do you bleed"
This movie was a complete surprise of how it surpassed the theatrical cut in every single way in terms of story, pacing, music and character development. Also, Cyborg was the best part of this movie that if you take all his scenes, it's enough to be a movie for his character.
Just no
That's because the original was a dumpster fire.
Well they definitely should have have the cyborg movie before this and have it be a direct tie in, like as cool as the Cyborg scenes were, I wish they could have been on his movie, and focus this movie more.
Not really a high standard to live up to.
It is amazing what you can do when you get a do over from a movie you started working on.
Yeah it's called a character arc. It about Batman coming back from the dark place he was in in BvS.
Snyder may be a complete joke with some of his projects, Hello Rebel Moon but I can't deny that I enjoyed this version of Justice League way more than Josstice League.
Agreed. Could have been a bit shorter but it was pretty good
Rebel Moon is really...bruh.
can't really judge rebel moon until the directors cut comes out, same with other theatrical vs directors cuts of him.
Rebel Moon is originally a love letter to heavy metal magazin, a story about sex and violence, and the shorter netflix edit literally edits out all the sex and violence, so we have to wait for the proper version to come out
@@MarkFilipAnthony Good point.

I love the "Father Twice Over" epilogue. It's very touching and now I see it as the ending to the DCEU. However, after Superman rips his shirt open, that's when the movie should have ended. I didn't care for the other extra scenes with Martian Manhunter, Lex Luthor and Joker.
The 4 hour run time makes far more sense when you remember justice leageu was suppised to be 2 films
And if hou cut it in half, both halves work as complete 3 act structures
If the first film ends on the first battle with steppenwolf, and the 2nd half starts with them resurrecting superman, it works as 2 complete films
I watched all 4 hours in one sitting.
However, there are still people in the world who consider him boring and that Cyborg has no place in the League.
@@ii-mp1sp Because he has NO PLACE in the League. He was literally put there as a replacement to Martian Manhunter so there would be a black guy in the League.

I thought Snyder had gained a bad reputation so I was very surprised when this was so well-recieved over Whedon's.

More things to add about this version of the movie:
- This movie was leaked early on HBO Max when you play the recent Tom and Jerry movie.
Here's the big one:
- When Zack Snyder was on board for the new Superman movie, he was planning to do a trilogy of Superman movies.
Damn, thats a drama in the making
Holy hot damn
Tl:dr
That sucks. So they would do time travel two more times? So now the DC universe is pointless now. Just send the Flash back to fix what was screwed up. Lois and Bruice having a child together is just stupid.
Which of Holkenborg's tracks for Tomb Raider are the original JL score pieces??

Stephen Amell be like “Thank God someone else gets it.”
can't believe whoever was in charge of editing saw the climatic scene with Flash saving the world, and was like "yea...lets cut that out and have him speak russian pushing a pickup truck saving one family"
@@KafuKemeh stop gaslighting

I like how you just named the video the Snyder Cut
To me this movie feels more like a fantasy epic than a standard superhero movie (more 'Lord Of The Rings' than 'Avengers'). DC in general is more a world of gods mythology while Marvel is more Sci-Fi (with the Justice League as a godly pantheon), and this movie ties into that beautifully to me
Someone once said Marvel is about humans trying to be gods whereas DC is about gods trying to be human
For next year's March Theme Month, it should be Doug reviewing the 2 VeggieTales movies, the 2 Christmas movies, & the Easter movie.
The time is now.
Green Lantern showing up during Superman's revival would have been amazing. Since he's a space hero you can just say he just came back from a space mission. What I would have given to have another live action Green Lantern 😢
I would have liked to have seen what Snyder could have done with a Green Lantern.
Green Lantern-John Stewart was supposed to appear with Batman at the end, but Warners banned Snyder, so he was replaced by the Martian.
I wouldn't mind WB do an animated Justice League movie for the big screen. The same should go for Teen Titans as well, as I would like to see DC and WB do animated movies for the big screen since the Lego Batman Movie.
Teen Titans Go! To The Movies came out year after Lego Batman and got a theatrical release
@@Deathstroke4200 just because it was better doesn’t mean it wasn’t still bad…
I'm still mad that Martian Manhunter didn't show up for the final fight.
I'm not mad, but I am sad about something related to Martian Manhunter.
He didn't introduce himself as J'onn J'onzz.

Not going to lie, this actually makes me want to watch it now. Heck, this is MAKING me want to watch it now that's how good this seems to be.
The fact that you could make this video only 25 minutes is insane💀!

New that SuperMonth is over, will you review Megamind?
I like how the greek carvings above darkseid where it's written skotomidis darksidios basically mean dark darkseid in greek as it's simply his name (a little altered) in "greek" letters and the word dark (as well being a little altered) and used as an adjective to indicate that he's even more "dark" than "darkness" alone can get...
Fun fact: In the actual comics of Justice League, it was the aliens called the parademons that killed Victor Stone's mom and the impact of the boom tube when they were traveling through disintegrated Victor's body which is how he became Cyborg
Not that fun a fact lol
This one is though: at one point Cyborg was a planet
Dc is 🗑 now
Has Doug seen the Quiet on Set documentary?
This cut of the movie made me love Cyborg as a character. He is one of my favorites now.
This movie is essentially what happens when the fans and even executives say LET HIM COOK and the director delivered incredibly well
While the end result was good, it was revealed that the majority of the "RELEASE THE SNYDER CUT" outcry on the internet was generated by a bot.
You say that like the film was good
yes when you let snyder "cook" he bakes a bloated sloppy overcooked mess.

Loki kept his dignity after getting ragdolled by Hulk into the ground. Steppenwolf is pretty much a joke after one movie.
Steppenwolf made for better battles, but yeah.

To add to this, when Zack was asked how he felt mentally making this finished film and
"my mental state in 2017, and why I wanted to finish this movie (his daughter was a massive JL fan and would play with the pros and costumes ) and why I didn't want to be paid fo finish it. Look at the billboard..that's all I can really say about that right now guys"
Hope he is doing ok. Losing your kid is something no parent should go through.
Also the like "best of the best" is what he would say to her when she would ask him "what is my worth dad?"

But that hit's me where I live. And if finishing a movie gives him a but of peace, then I'm glad this was made.
Don't Ruin The Best Female Superhero Is Dc. Bring Back Gal Gadot 💔
I haven't been this early in a while. But while I am here, I might as well say I enjoyed this month.
God, I WISH that was the next review
The fact that you played Joker's reacharound clip after teasing that Bill Cosby video makes more sense than it probably should've... 😅
If fans can get Warner Bros. to release the Snyder Cut of Justice League, so as Coyote vs. Acme.
For those who want context on the “You’re not alone” poster, that family tragedy Snyder had was his daughter’s suicide. My condolences go out to him.
@@dreamlandnightmareadds what? The scene is dumb
@@jafjaf88 no, he had no arc, that’s what his own movie did and it was a lot better at it too

Seriously, how autistic are you?
I'll always Consider 300 Snyders best directed film, but this Film is the best vision of his universe that made Man of Steel/Wonder Woman/Batman vs Superman a cohesive vision.
I'm glad this movie did justice to Wonder Woman.

to be fair the leap tall buildings in a single bound was before they gave superman the ability to fly
Sadly, mistake remains- Ezra Miller tries to emulate Tom Holland's version of Peter without understanding what makes it work and having none of the charisma to pull it off
I hated that lois arrived coincidentally to calm superman in this one unlike the original where it was batman's plan which makes more sense
Yeah clearly WB has HUGE plans for Green Lantern. I mean you literally can't go anywhere without seeing all those Green Lantern movies and TV Shows 🙄
I get goosebumps every time I see the flash saying to him self he has to reverse time this time, I legit feel he knows it’s this or nothing and the music behind it is perfection. Even got goosebumps in the short clip in the review not even exaggerating
Another Fun Fact: The movie's teaser has Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" song in it - which was also used by director Zack Snyder previously in Watchmen (2009).
Duh!
It was his daughter's favorite song
The scene where Bruce says he bought the bank is easily my favorite part of either of the versions of Justice League. I don't like either one at all. The Snyder cut is definitely much better, but I don't like his filmmaking style or the story he came up with.
Think we can all agree that Flash running scene at the end was one of Snyder’s best DCEU moments. Hell everything done with Flash and Cyborg in the Snyder Cut was a massive step above the theatrical version.
It opens up countless plot holes with the DC movies though
Can't agree with something like that of the Flash scene, with Cyborg I agree, but the other not.
