      The foundation really needs a better way to abbreviate the numbers. Perhaps at the beginning of an article, one could clarify that "dash 1" means "[SCP number]-1", dash-2 means [SCP number]-2, etc. That way we could just say "dash-2 incident" or "dash-1 anomaly." The thought of a home invasion always terrified me. Like you're home alone, perhaps in the dead of night, and then a bunch of complete strangers break into your ultimate safe place to rob you and there's a very real chance that you're going to be seriously hurt or murdered.
    And this SCP just generates a bunch of violent, emotionless spectres every so often to come after you with no rhyme or reason? Fuck that. The part where the one guy died in a car accident, but he had injuries not typical of a car accident...imagine building yourself a supposedly safe place from SCP-6362-B attacks, and you're taken out in your own car? like a band of spectres just materilise inside the car while it's driving?

    Nice. And another example of how self-defeating the mission of the Foundation can be; if they were public, if anomolies were something people knew about, an SCP-6362-A could come to them for protection, instead of being universally derided as insane.
    Normality is a double-edged sword.

    • @artloverivy
      @artloverivy 8 місяців тому +1

      Every person killed by this anomaly represents millions saved by not being aware of the Foundation. Society would instantly collapse into paranoid chaos if they knew the creepy ass shit they share the world with. I certainly wouldn’t want to calmly work a 9-5 if I knew there was a chance “The Guest” SCP could decide to eat me one day and no one could do a damn thing about it. Or imagine the wars that would be fought between powerful people trying to get those pills that cure anything. The world would become hell if the foundation was public. But yes, keeping it secret does have drawbacks when it comes to containing certain SCP’s.

    • @dome2919
      @dome2919 8 місяців тому +25

      Maybe, and I honestly think that the frustration of the drawbacks to secrecy must really **eat** at foundation workers. But consider...
      -3125 "The Escapee" the "perfect antimeme" that destroys you for knowing it exists
      -Or the classic 2316 "The bodies in the water" that must not be recognized.
      Normalcy is not perfect and is often directly harmful. But the public is not going to be so clinical and safety-minded as the foundation is. The foundation is not "good" in any conventional sense of the word. It more "distrusts general humanity to protect itself and so unilaterally declares that protecting people from everything that (the foundation believes) their worldview isn't ready for is now our job". Big lawful neutral behavior
      If you want to be an apologist, say that they're protecting humanity until they're strong enough to contend with all of this
      If you want to be fatalistically dramatic, say that the foundation seeks control above all things and is holding humanity back (there's definitely arguments to be made for this).
      But I definitely think that the mission's frustrations in cases like this aren't the whole story. Just a layer.

    • @widdershins3785

      If I am understanding this entry correctly, it kind of just appears and shanks you. You don't get time to run and help, that is the issue. If that were the case, normal police action would suffice. There's an entry in there that states a policeman shows up and all he can tell happened is bruises and a dropped gun.
      SCP stands for Special Containment Procedures. They lock up things that are an issue. If things just poof away once the deed is done.... not much any mortal can do, yes?

    • @huntery3568
      @huntery3568 8 місяців тому +10

      @@widdershins3785 If they just showed up and shanked you, there would be none of the evidence that we've got, from those who are suffering from it but not yet dead. That's the point; if not for the Foundation's success in its stated mission, those people would be coming to the Foundation for help and they'd get the chance to learn more about the anomaly, potentially including how to, y'know, Secure or Contain it.
      Instead, scattered clues and a completely uncontained anomaly. Not saying they're wrong, just mentioning the irony.

    SCP's like these, where they can get you in your own home, are my favorites. Your home is supposed to be the one place where you feel safe and secure and there's just something so terrifying about the thought something being able to invade it so effortlessly like that. To be intimately familiar with every inch of the place and still being utterly powerless to stop whatever it is from getting in.

    Oh hey, first time I read a skip before Volgun covers it! Anyways, there are 3 confirmed kills in this doc. 2 from 6362 victims, 1 from a victim attacking an innocent bystander. One must assume the other ones where the death wasn't confirmed are, or will eventually, result in the victim dying, but those haven't been confirmed so they don't go on the count.

  • @RamnaViaz

    This scp plays on that primal fear of attackers and predators, on why beds are always placed facing towards the door in a room, on why when you're in the shower sometimes when you have shampoo trickling down your face and you can't open your eyes you feel very vulnerable and afraid that somebody is gonna jump you at that moment of weakness, on why being alone in a house always makes your hearing a little extra sensitive, because you don't wanna become a victim.... and you know they're coming, and it's not paranoia if you're actually right.

    I wanna make a short film based on this that's just nonstop action, titled Alone, a J. Doe find themselves solitary, knowing what happens next, letting out a sigh of a,
    "fuck"
    The doors open, there's no use in locking them anymore, they always come, nothing can stop them. The only thing that can stop them, is to beat them. Even then, it's a temporary respite. Every two weeks, they come in for a rematch. Every two weeks, I fight, or I die.

    think the idea of this happening just once is the scariest, think about it.
    You're alone in your apartment or house or what have you and all of a sudden all these people just show up out of nowhere out from any line of sight, behind the couch, curtains, with no emotion, making no sound.
    You managed to kill a couple and yet they still make no sound and you managed to injure some of the others and again they show no emotion or fear as you do so.
    You managed to get away and touch base with your neighbors, the police show up and there's not a single trace of the invaders, no blood no hair no nothing.
    The idea of something like that happening just once would haunt me forever.
    Home invasion isn't a fear I necessarily have (my biggest fear is nuclear war) but it's definitely a fear I know is in the top 10 and adding a supernatural twist to that fear makes it so much more creepy and entertaining.

    This is what I love about SCP articles. Its not some C plot horror movie, its written from the perspective of someone cleaning up the aftermath to try and prevent it from happening again. Like imagine if the government got in on trying to contain Jason in Friday the 13th after the massacre was discovered. It gives a genuinely hopeful undertone to the bad ending of someone's personal horror story.
