- SCP-096 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as the Shy Guy.
SCP 096 is one of the most famous and feared of the anomalies kept in containment by the SCP Foundation. Normally docile, the Shy Guy will enter a rage state whenever someone views its face, and when that happens, SCP096 will stop at nothing until it tracks down the person who saw them and terminates them. Even a picture of its face is enough to start it on a murderous rampage. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened in one of the worst SCP Foundation Containment Breaches on record, one that has become known as Incident 096-1-A.

This video is a really great pg version of the shyguy. I remember first finding the scp site and reading the logs of scp 096 a few years ago, reading the logs made me feel fear even during the day. I recommend reading the logs to any newcomers.
Dude is a ruthless killing machine that can tear through obstacles like it was nothing just to get to his victim/target, but decided to "jump over site fence" and also "trips over and rolls into things" causing destruction still. I can't. 😂

I've heard this story so many times now, but still enjoy it. Every SCP focused channel has their own style, so even a telling of the same story can feel fresh.

Reasons:
1st: the way 096 runs towards the task force.
2nd: all the equipment used by the mtf unit is being thrown in slow motion while having cartoon sfx on top of it.
3rd: the narrator explaining the situation in a serious tone, like he’s about to tell you that this is a serious scene and you should stop laughing.

Still a firm believer of putting SCP-096 in a fully mirrored room filled with any and all pictures in existence of it's face. It will either go bonkers, and tear itself apart...or it'll be finally tamed. Knowing that there's no threat to seeing it's face may be enough to keep it docile.

@@herculesatan4514 Even if SCP-096 is blind that only argues my first point. It still might become docile once every threat to it's face is contained as well. But yes! It still hasn't been proven that it is blind. It's only been noted it has milky white eyes usually associated with what we know as blindness. SCP's are anything but "usual". Who's to say without proper testing. *shrugs* send blind D-Class in to feel 096's face...and stab it's eyes out. Foundation rule 101...no one is expendable.

Hate (love) to be "that" guy, but the poison gas killed all the witnesses on-site, giving way for 096 to focus on the mountaineer. The ethics committee would have a field day with this protocol. In future breakouts d-class, then all other onsite faculty should be ready to distract 096.
Edit: had to rewatch the video, i had assumed the scp knew the target from the very beginning. Once they know the target, they could distract 096 long enough to evacuate the target out of populated areas. This would only work when they know who the target is.
its a good thing to wipe them out, because otherwise shy guy can and will rampage through an entire facility with absolutely no recourse, leading to even more casualties than just letting him get to his target

I'm pretty sure that while all the tau 1 members were being killed, the goggles had one advantage. A Tau 1 member managed to find the image with 096, and using his knife, scraped off the 4 pixel image right before his death.
Remember SCP-5000? What if The SCP Foundation instead of saying "There will be no more communication" They just put up a picture of SCP-096 on everyone's screens?
The actually (kind of) did that! Once they were done with that announcement, they posted pictures of 096’s face EVEEERRYYWHHHEEREEE online. Until the church of the broken god took down the internet apparently.
Instead of them doing it directly themselves, they let society do it themselves. There were hundreds of news sites and individuals who video taped it, took a photo of it, and broadcasted it across every platform you could probably think of (maybe not PH, but it's not out of the question).
They did, a live television broadcast zoomed onto its face and it was seen by millions

Help with containment: Have D-class go to the cell regularly to put a bag over 096 head. Create a helmet that allows 096 to see (so it won't feel the need to remove it), but hides 096's face; this might limit the spread if 096 escapes, because bystanders wouldn't see his face as he runs past to kill the one who saw it's picture.

What would happen if you show other SCPs or the cults like the broken god Church a picture of 096? Seems like it'll make a great hit man...
Thing about 096 is that its not a precision weapon. If you were to compare it to a weapon, I would say its like chlorine gas. While 096 will go to the target, there's still the distance between point A to point B and anything in that distance would need to be evacuated and blindfolded. I think it would be a very expensive project.
