Note to self, if a puppet says they want to break an arm and asks for volunteers, don't volunteer or you'll end up with a broken arm. Who'd've thought.
Kinda like telling the doctor that it ‘hurts when I do this’ and him telling you ‘well then don’t do that!’ lol
"Hey, what's it gonna do? Break my arm?"
*snap*
"AH! SON OF A BITCH!!!"
After 45 minutes my ADHD would volunteer me as tribute.
The biggest shock about this SCP was that they didn't use a D-Class for that
@@darrynmurphy2038 it's not explained if people can freely enter or leave the theatre during scp-6373 events
So if I'm gathering this right, Timothy used some kind of arcane tomfoolery to trap his and Cynthia's souls in his puppets, and tormented her for a while before eventually stopping(this being evident by the occasional female screams that occur during certain events).
I think the soul of hers withered and then he couldn't run the show right on just his own??
We do a little arcane tomfoolery
I think he killed and skinned and dismembered his wife (it said they were divorced and she was never seen again) and used some type of demonic ritual to trap her soul in Ame and used her body parts to animate the other puppets who beat and torment Ame so the performance 🎭 could go on as it was his true love
@@lastofthe4horsemen279 but it said that she died of natural causes at 7:25. its more likely that he did all of this to her body after she died. but yes, that is possible, though figuring out how he got her soul into ame is very much unknown.
@@cheesemanthe2nd for what? Didn't it day he cheated on her.
I thought he was torturing himself, for being a pos.
I feel like he took his wife's corpse and "made" her into those puppets (or at lease pieces of her).
Also, the line "That's not what being dead feels like" is so creepy to me for some reason.
Seconded on that underrated line; it's like someone who's been to hell and back speaking from personal experience.
Didnt the wife die 4 months after him?
@@scottallen4569 He disappeared. Sure, we can assume he died, but knowing the SCP universe, he probably just fucked off and did some occult things and made the puppets
the puppets being alive, with the body parts of a dead person inside them, explains that line. That isnt what being dead feels like
indeed and Ame being empty could mean that Ame contained her Soul which is why the Puppets blame her for being stuck like this cause its the Soul's Job to move to the Afterlife but it cant but after they break Ame fully the soul either fully died out or moved on leaving the puppets without a way to keep living and so they slowly died

This doesn't sound like a Keter Scp. It's not like they even tried to escape.
It was impossible to contain without destroying it. SCP foundation also strives to protect entities under its jurisdiction, as long as it poses no threat to humanity. Since they cannot keep it within the facility without killing the puppets, it's Keter.
It isn't just about escapes. They had to purchase the building in a city, keep the building intact, keep personal in it (personal who were in mental and physical distress) and they might've needed to do that *forever*.
Because it's not keter, just another example of a writer making something keter cause they want it to be.
@@atomicranks2371 That would make it Euclid, not Keter. It requires some effort to contain but it's a passive effort, not a constant battle.
@@SometimesImaPenguin I agree, anomalous SCP locations aren't just made Keter by default. There has to be an aspect like the site continously growing, or constantly outputting something the Foundation can't control.

Puppets + SCP is usually always good. Thank you.
Building's actually still around, it's a local legend kinda- cool to see it adapted like this.
imagine how funny it would be if class d just goes, "yo pierre you wanna come out here"
im thinking all of the puppets are cynthia (pierre, jaque, glouton are the body and thus can be controlled as a vessel [aka puppet] while the soul houses cynthias consciousness, which can no longer see nor speak) and the puppeteer/theatre is timothy, using the puppets to take out his rage on her, and perhaps himself. pierre symbolizes how much he hates her (and eventually the audience who he can no longer make smile), while jaque symbolizes his heart and how he loved cynthia and theatre at one point. gloutton is his greed to perform and indulge himself, perhaps. i find jaque interesting, because it is the only one that's jaw had to be controlled by the puppeteer with a string, leading me to believe if it were allowed to speak on its own it would have some very interesting things to say. perhaps it would speak for cynthia, as her heart? maybe speaking through it would mean timothy could only speak with *his* heart? i also wonder if the yellow bile symbolizes anything. this is one of my favorite SCP's so far :)
I grew up in Reading, PA, and was really caught off-guard by hearing it referenced in this document. I haven't been able to find Goffard Theater, however. The entire city should be classified at Keter.
What are we classifying Reading as Keter for?
Man, this guy, and the gal's soul, were presumably living on together throughout this entire endeavor. And it seems like he tried everything in the book to end his suffering. Very uncomfortable.
16:58 Ayyy my birthday. Too bad I wasn't around in 1979, missed out on a special birthday performance 😪
So the puppet show is the afterlife of Timothy and Cynthia in which he enacts upon her all the pain she caused him in life. Cynthia is Ame. The self-termination is Timothy realizing that enacting his revenge for eternity is ultimately unsatisfactory, and the only real way to heal from events of his life is to move on.
This one is so disturbing, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it.

What if the scream behind the curtains was a man getting brutally killed, and then put into each of the puppets.
The puppets were the man's passion and solace,
Glouten's *termination points* are unresolved cacophenous music set about from early childhood corruption,
Seeking to prevent any other child from feeling the depths of the void that he'd decended to- Through stories and laughter, and lessons.
His bearing within himself was lost,
A spiral began.
His soul- left brittle and corrupted from his past, was shattered by a woman.
His heart and his Mind were separated in the spiral , and through his own actions , damage was done that severed the connection allowing the heart to speak for itself.
The mind is a dark and cold solitude without the warmth of the heart- and staring for too long into the void can leave you transfixed .
The body becomes it's own entity that must be worked with consciously- losing its fluidity of motion as the intuition begins to fade from the self.
A starless night , adrift at sea.
Bearingless.
In am effort to force the self to *see* what needs to be done,
A forceful attempt was made.
Failure, rage, and a limp lifeless vessel upon the stage floor.
A paper mache exterior masking the turbulent currents beneath the surface .
The soul closes itself off from that which seeks to hurt it, the self.
And like a fire running low on fuel-
The cacophonous melody resolves as the emotion is expressed in its finality .

A Bow.
The Curtain Falls.
A broken man is laid to rest as his passion finally burns away into the cold night.

I’m not entirely sure why this was keter class? It’s not especially dangerous, just prevent civilians from entering the building and toss a D-class in there to view performances to prevent the deterioration effects now and then. That seems to me like a Euclid class object.
I did watch half the video while tired before bed though so maybe I missed some key detail. But it very much seemed like it was easy to contain compared to pretty much every other keter

"Ame" means "soul" in French, by the way. The other puppets could be berating Ame for refusing to pass on.
Home boy killed his ex wife and made her into puppets. They all had her organs except Ame, who seemed empty because she was filled with her soul. It was his revenge for the embezzlement that shut down the theater.

I think it's the owner and his wife, and that Ame his soul left him, so he blames her, and all she can do is cry as he abuses her in this horrible puppet show they called their life... or something
In summary, a French Pupeteer bound his and his wife's souls into their puppets so he can exact revenge on her for eternity, but it's neither satisfying or eternal and they eventually want to die for good. Neat.
Basically. Method on how or what process he did to achieve this mess is irrelevant at this point. They gone now by their own terms.

Genuinely the creepiest SCP I've seen so far. In horror movies about content intended for children, the fear always feels a little too forced. It seems everyone is forgetting about the puppeteer.
We have a few roles to fill via a few mechanics the author offers us. It would seem as though the author wants us to both consider the body(material) and the soul(immaterial)
we have 4 puppets, of which 3 were filled with material and 1 was empty. The puppets who were filled were Pierre, Jacquis and Glouton. The empty puppet was Ame.
Initially it would seem as though Ame was Cynthia and Pierre was Timothy, but later we find out that actually Glouton contained Cynthia's flesh, and that Pierre and Jacques contained Timothy's flesh.
This would lead us to conclude that Glouton and Ame contained Cynthia's Body and Soul, while Timothy's _body_ was contained within Pierre and Jacques - leaving only 1 place for Timothy's soul: The puppeteer.
This is probably the correct theory.
sounds somewhat solid except for the fact that he stated all the body parts could be traced back to one person, Cynthia. and He didn't say Pierre and Jacques had Timothys body, so unless there's info in the article he didn't read, got wrong, or wasn't there when this was recorded I think your theory is wrong sorry.
@@SweetMargonade initially its stated that all viscera is most likely from one source, later more information is included stating that analysis of viscera found in glouton is most likely from a female i.e. cynthia
I can accept this theory. With or without Timothy's physical remains it is still the most logical that Ame is Cynthia's soul, and Timothy's soul is the puppetmaster.
If Timothy made the puppets, they wouldn't contain anything inside the puppets since he needed to be alive to make them. The puppets do not begin moving until they are at the theatre, at which point their strings begin being pulled, which indicates the one moving them is at, and possibly the theatre itself as it rots and wears down strangely along with the puppets. All 3 were hosed down by Pierre, and we only heard female screams from all 3. When the puppets struck and grinded against the theatre, that is when we heard a male screaming along with female screams. Timothy wanted to perform for kids despite his ailing health and poverty, he loved doing it. It was the focal point of his whole life, and his wife took it all away from him.
Timothy also couldn't bear the theatre being owned by another, second reason he'd possess it. As days turned into years, and years into decades, Tim's soul began to wither to the point where he no longer love the children, but despised them for being alive. Ame had strings like all the rest - strings attached to thin air, as if there was a body... the strings went taunt in midair. An entity gave Tim what he wanted. Termination points on the body parts suggest someone with knowledge of human anatomy, which Tim showed off by breaking an arm at the ulna, made them.
Jacque was her heart, literally and spiritually - its the only one that showed merriment, tried being silly, and hesitate at first to harm Ame. Souls wither, and the abuse from Tim takes its toll.
Glouton is the body, the unbroken skin holding in all the organs - when he says he can no longer hold together, all the other puppets fail and go limp on the spot. The theater than shows rot - both Tim and his wife experienced a breakdown of their earthly vessels, Tims being the stage/theatre itself.
Pierre was her brain, and it shows in how he was the protag who spoke the most by far, just like when Tim was alive and performing. He mused over death and apparently knew how it felt. He was by far the puppet who showed the most intelligence.
Ame was the soul - it was Tim's wife, what defined her in life and in death. It having a head was just a way to bully, torture her and inflict pain on her, as her soul was already on strings like the others. Her whole body finally failed at once, and she was able to finally die. I can only assume Tim moved on too, but thats up for debate. Imagine not being attached to your own rotting brain, heart and body, yet you feel attached to them as they rot and fester. I assume that is what it felt like.
And Tim realized he cursed himself to put on plays with no end in sight for him. Everything was dead, rotten and withered, and screamed for release. But they weren't allowed to suffer serious damage at first, their bodies always restored, like when they were hosed down. Its horrifying when you consider Jacque leaked her own rotting heart juices all over her, and she was promptly eaten by Glouton, and got to get mixed up really good in her own rotting guts and filth. Yikes. I only assume that the entity finally allowed the puppets to erode and take damage, thinking they suffered enough. Perhaps Ame opened her shut eyes to some truth or revelation, but the fact the puppets all failed in unison makes me doubt that. Or Tim finally forgave her.
I was always curious what they could see on the puppeteers end of the strings. Was Pierre talking to a godlike entity? Timothy, who was the theatre itself carrying on so well? Or was there something horrifying just above their heads, in the darkness? Hard to say with confidence, imo.
French baguette here : the names of the puppets means something, Pierre et Jacques are names that we find in stories, jokes and pun, if we want to say "these guy, lets say Pierre and Jacques are so weird". Glouton means someone who eats too much. It was the name given to those who sin because of .. gluttony. Ame means soul in French, and it's pronounced ame together, not am.e the e is pronounced like the word "the" Merci et bonne journée
Merci beaucoup. I was scrolling down hoping someone would be able to explain better than I could, as I only studied French back in High School and I didn't grow up immersed in the culture.
So is it pronounced "aim" then? Or "am" ?
@@ThatsPrettyFunnyMan am
i still dont understand either way
@@kurokami5964 oh, I was thinking ‘ah-may’
Jesus, this one just got progressively darker.
Makes you not feel that much pity that it got neutralized. Maybe the souls the puppets represented can finally know peace.
So essentially the puppet show was Cynthia's make-shift hell.
Her soul was trapped in the theater and she was constantly being forced to perform in the bodies of those puppets, seemingly by an over seeing puppet master who was never visible or present physically (assuming that is Timothy.) She begged the audience to discover her remains, but eventually resorted to violence and self harm.
They were all constantly berating ame and assaulting ame and themselves in an attempt to break the shells and free her from that existence.
I've always interpreted it as the puppets being possessed by *both* of their souls (Timothee and Cynthia). Timothee's way of forever locking them together and being able to torture her forever.
@@inthefort6003 the main theory is the Tim possessed the theatre, which is why the puppets lost their abilities when removed from the building. he linked himself to it, thinking he would never want to move on, and only trapped Cynthia there with her in order to enact some torture by keeping her soul from moving on using her remains. That’s why he was more of the puppeteer, altering in how he drags the puppets around or voices them, etc.
@@DataMembrain ah i see, that makes total sense!
Starting off an SCP classified as Neutralized is so intriguing. Like, what happened??
The scp suicide.
The SCP in particular depended on the physical state of the theatre. It seems, as the theatre around them came undone so did the puppets. Until finally they tore themselves apart, without warrant or provocation.
@@FracturedDMR Self neutralizing SCPs can be very interesting.
@@hellatze It is interesting how I feel the opposite to this compared to another kind of suicide SCP, Here Be Dragons. That was a tragedy that the foundation could only sit and watch and not know how to help but this SCP clearly shows it was an abusive afterlife between the puppets creator and his wife. It is hard to want them to continue.
I have a theory that the souls controlling the puppets were withering as they linger in the realm of the living. Everything was fine for the first 10 years of the performances, however as time went on the souls controlling the puppets began to realize that they were withering. The spirits controlling the puppets would reference this over time, and they'd allude to them finally finding out that their fate would never be to pass on to an afterlife but to wither away into nothingness. I believe that the spirits became psychopathic over time, wanting to harm the people who pass on so well as a form of jealousy and envy. The performances which were scary chaotic sequences of self harm, and screaming, were probably the souls in the final stages of withering, which must be insanely painful. After the self harming performances, the spirits are so withered they are barely able to function as puppeteers, until the final performance where they finally say goodbye to reality as a whole, and seas to exist.
The only way it would seem to free the spirits controlling the puppets, coullete and timothy, would have been to destroy the puppets and let the puppets wither, specifically ame, but this can only be done outside the theater. Any damage the puppets receive during the performances would be reversed at the start of the next performance. The SCP foundation committed man-slaughter by neglecting to allow the spirits to mass on in a sense, however it really isn't truly their fault, to them this could have gone on forever theoretically.
Edit : It's also implied that the spirits of coullete and timothy can feel whatever the puppets feel, since their organs are 'preserved' in the puppets.
Wish there were more unsettling SCPs like this. There are obviously spooky ones out there like 106, but this just has a genuinely eery tone overall.

Am I the only one nervous about the fact that Amé isn't pictured, and was "empty" when examined?
Maybe it represents how Timothee viewed Cynthia as "hollow" or something. As Ame seems to be based off of Timothee's hatred of Cynthia.
Ame means soul in French, so its possible that what was inside, was infact, the soul.
@@melfice999 Who's soul was it? I'm having a brain fart moment right now
@@marcuso.530 it was Cynthia’s soul. All of the body parts were all from Cynthia. The question is… how did she end up inside the puppets?
@@mattylewin1684 I have a theory that timothee killed her and put her body parts inside the Puppets and the reason why the rest of the puppets hated ame was because he was the only one that didn't have Cynthia's body parts inside of them.
Some of the reasons it might be classified as Keter:
1.) The building was in the middle of a city and so couldn't be cordoned off easily from the public
2.) Attempts to remove the puppets from the theatre caused them to rot which meant that the containment area would smell like dead people
3.) The puppets were capable of causing harm to humans, even if only during a limited time window and only voluntarily
4.) Someone had to be inside the building to watch and record the performances or else the puppets would rot and the smell would get out into the streets, alerting citizens to something strange going on inside the building. This could prompt curious people to investigate on their own which wastes SCP Foundation resources applying amnestics to everyone involved.
5.) The Foundation had no idea that the SCP would one day stop doing its routine. Theoretically it could have gone on forever.
6.) Leftover detritus and acts of physical abuse and assault from older performances would have caused distress in audience members who were forced to watch, such as persistent nausea and vomiting, and the smell would have been hard to contain otherwise
7.) As this was an older theatre created for the puppet show, there's the possibility that the plays that involved screaming men/women could have been heard outside of the theatre which could have prompted nearby civilians to investigate
Also it's a century old Theater, that by it self is going to draw attention on its own.
The SCP probably runs a huge campaign ether (expensive or logistically difficult) to draw attention away from the building.
Excellent points.

I'm surprised there isn't an SCP that only hunts and kills other scps in the lore.
Would be pretty sick
As long as Able is far, far away from Cain, it'll stay that way.
SCP 6500 is a form of entropy that only affects the anomalous. AKA it makes anomalies disappear, cease being anomalous, or die. So kinda close but not really an entity that hunts.
One of the SCP-001 entries is entirely a SCP anomalies hunter
I would like to make one but the only way it would work is if it was so overpowered no other scp could even scratch it and frankly I don't know how many people would like that considering they probably wouldn't want their scps to be neutralized, and the fact that people in general don't like OP characters, entities, and objects.
Candle Cove was finally given a more grounded reinterpretation and made into an SCP.
I mean you could argue it was with Bobble the Clown but this is another cool interpretation. Especially with more classical puppetry.
I like to believe that Cynthia was in the puppets, but Timothee (the puppeteer) was the building itself. That would explain a few of the oddities like the puppet talking to the ceiling before thrashing about or the puppet’s performance relating to the state of the theatre.

Jaques: the heart, the hopeful emotional center, unable to stop moving, hated by the brain (brain has less control over heart/hates him for feeling?)
Glouton: the body, obedient follower of the brain, nothing else
Ame: the soul (Ame=soul in french), empty, hollowed out after years of torment, hated by all the others for refusing to move on

well yeah that's cuz its neutralized
From what I'm getting, it seems Pierre - Brain,
Jaques - Heart, Glouton - Guts, Ame- soul.
Notable is that Ame means soul and seems to be tormented more than the others. Seems the original puppeteer put himself into 4 different puppets, or 3 and Ame is the wife who caused the theater to close.
What if Ame IS the wife, she did die 4 months later. The soul can still wither
I think ame is timothy's soul and the other 3 puppets are his ex wife's body parts. I have to listen this multiple times but I think I get it.
Think as this, the wife died to natural causes and the puppets say that Timothy died alone. The letter does rule that she is the sole reason his dreams were crushed to make a puppet show. Also motive to murder his ex wife is in that letter. However, the ex wife doesn't like him because he is unfaithful to her. That is why they beat Ame the most. Timothy could be a victim of a domestic abuse of his ex wife. Maybe he only cared about his show and not her. The 3 beats up Ame because Ame doesn't want to move on. Aka Timothy wants to live through his fantasies and wants to continue his show even after death because he fears what would happen. The puppets can make woman like screams. They talked about the "afterlife." Ame cries because it's alone because Timothy died alone and never truely fell in love or really have a stable relationship.
Idk there are some clues because Ame means soul in french. Plus puppet shows sort of originate in Italy/France. I have to look it up where puppet shows originate in and the translations in their names.
The way I see it, there's a few ways you can interpret the story.
1. Ame's soul is Timothy's, the puppets represent his wife, and are tormenting him because he won't let them move on to the afterlife (Performance 1976-07-02). In the end, Timothy just gives up. He loses his love for theater and his hatred for his wife, and that is the last performance.
How Cynthia's organs ended up in the puppets is unknown.
2. Ame's soul is his wife's, and the puppets represent Timothy. Ame is the subject of abuse because of Timothy's unending grudge against his wife.
In this interpretation, it's fair to assume Timothy grave-robbed his wife's organs for some sort of dark ritual to animate the puppets. Now that I think about it, that would explain why the puppets hate Ame in the first interpretation, assuming Timothy basically trapped her soul in the puppets.
3. The puppets are all either Timothy or Cynthia, and their performances are just a mockery retelling of their lives. It wouldn't really make much of a difference whether they were all controlled by Timothy's soul or Cynthia's, they both probably hated each other and so the violence and abuse of Ame would make sense either way.
In this interpretation, Ame contains the same soul as the puppets, and their abuse towards Ame is a form of self-loathing. Or they're simply using Ame as a way to vent their anger and frustration.
Whichever interpretation is "canon" is probably left vague on purpose. The point is we'll never know, and that's part of what adds to the horror and mystery of it. Did Timothy actually harvest his wife's dead body, or did her organs just appear in the puppets because creepy SCP shenanigans demand it? Are both Timothy and his wife trapped in the puppets, or just one of them? What does Ame represent? Is it a story about abuse and hatred, or sorrow and self-loathing?
Up to the reader, I guess.

This was genuinely one of the scariest SCPs ive heard of.
it made me physically uncomfortable and cringe, not like a "oh thats embarrassing" type of cringe, its a type of cringe where you feel like something is gonna jump out at you
I got an interpretation from this story that it doesn't seem like anyone else is bringing up.
It's established at the end that each of the puppets contained the organs of "a single individual", and one of the puppets is confirmed as containing the organs of Cynthia. From this, we can deduce that all of the puppets contained the organs of Cynthia. People have also identified that Ame likely contained only a "soul", since Ame means "soul" in French and Ame was the only empty puppet.
But I've seen a lot of people asserting that Ame contained the soul of Cynthia, which is possible, but not really established by anything in the story. And this doesn't explain why the other puppets hate Ame and abuse him, or why a male voice can be heard on stage from an unidentified source alongside a female one. With everything we've seen in the story, from the presence of souls to the contrast between men and women on stage to the hatred the puppets possess towards Ame, isn't it more plausible that Ame contains the soul of Timothee?
My theory at the moment is this; Timothee, in writing his final letter to Cynthia, created the curse that bound both of them to the puppets by expressing his wish to be on stage once more and to entertain an audience. This is why the puppets only become sentient while near the theatre. When they both died, Cynthia possessed the puppets of Pierre, Jacques, and Glouton, with Timothee possessing Ame. When this happened, Cynthia realised that she had the power over the performances (due to controlling Pierre, the "main puppet"), and felt hatred towards Timothee for dooming her into this afterlife. As such, she centred the performances around harming Ame as a form of vengeance, as well as hinting to the audience about the fate they had all experienced (which is why performances such as the "afterlife" or "can't move forward" performance existed, both of which indicated that they were all already dead and unable to move on to any kind of afterlife). When the theatre begins to decay, the grip their souls have on reality is weakened, leading to their less comprehensible performances, until eventually too little of the theatre is left for the curse to have any effect and their souls finally leave their bodies.
This doesn't explain **everything** about this SCP, given just how many details there are (such as the unidentified liquids, or Jacque's unfixed jaw), but I sincerely suspect this is the overall arc the author was going for.
For some reason neutralized makes me uneasy
It normally means something went hella wrong, so it makes sense.

@@notrod5341 I'd say this time things went right. The soul is finally free
@@eemelikorteniemi3966 Or so we assume. It could be a soul of a Human, or it could be Zuul.
@@eemelikorteniemi3966 Halfway through the video the puppet says that "Souls can degrade you know"
Which implies something more horrific. The souls gradually degraded, lost their shape and eventually became inert as the remnants slowly broke apart.
There was no release for the souls, the souls had themselves, _died._
My theory is this:
Pierre, Jacque, and Glouton represent the puppeteers mind. Pierre being his anger, Glouton being his childlike nature, and Jacque being his happiness and drive to perform. Ame represents the man himself, and the entire cast comes together to represent the “its all my fault” state of mind he had in the final moments of his life, the rapid deterioration of the acts representing the deterioration of his mental state and his growing anger. The final play represents his death, a final moment of quiet, somber clarity for the man as he lets all his fear and anger go and dies.
Then why are they made with his wife's body? C'mon. It's a hell he made for her, turning himself into the eternal puppeteer, until he realised he was in hell too. Âme is fully Cynthia, the other three are controlled by both and are trying to free Cynthia's soul (Cynthia's will) but also abusing her (Timothy's will) and the theater is fully Timothy
