On my 2001 Jeep grand Cherokee I had a dead battery after two years and I accidentally remove the positive cable thinking it was the negative cable and some kind of pump started coming on like the ABS pump. Anyway something caught on fire -there was smoke coming out of the fuse box. Well I got a new battery, got everything hooked up and the security Key light came on the dashboard. Thank you for your comment about pulling fuse for PCM. It looked OK till I got a magnifying glass and sure enough there was a break in the wire. I put a new fuse in and everything is working. Somehow a dead battery and then re-charging it it had a short in it somewhere that fried that fuse. Thank God it was just a fuse. Now the SKIM recognizes my key.

Very excellent video. My issue is the immobilizer light on my 99 Honda Accord continues to blink and the engine cranks but will not start. I've only checked for bad fuses so far.
I could not believe how Unknowledgeable the dealership repair shop people were; they were clueless and probed the wrong direction, and searched for crazy solution and were not suspected of the immobilizer as the problem, but milked the client thousand of dollars, while failed to achieve any success. After spending over 10 hours figuring out and still failed to produce any success, we finally decided to not to trust these "crazy people" anymore by not letting them continued to be "crazy", and not to let them have a continued opportunity to proceed on this car. We heard that they proposed to replace some wiring harnesses in order to get back to "original" due to "tampering" into the brake power line, as by we had tapped into the brake power for an LED light connection (for aftermarket LED "affect" product.) So, we towed the car home, thinking and doing research for possible solutions and to take further steps for seeking a workable solution.
Going through this issue now with a 07 Acura tl type s. I had my old key reprogrammed, changed fuel pump, and changed fuses. Worked for 1 day then went back to flashing green with no start. I guess it’s my immobilizer so I’ll focus on that next.

I had just reinstalled a rebuilt manual transmission. Started car and idled for a couple minutes just fine. Went to back up car and I stalled it. Attempting to restart and the Immobilizer green key light comes on for 2 seconds, then flashes and unable to start the car. I test at the 5th position of the Immobilizer harness plug and I get 12.36 volts, but the green light does not come on. Does this mean I have an issue in the harness? Have checked all pertinent fuses in both the under dash and under hood fuse areas and they are good.
I'm getting exactly 1v under what the battery is putting out. I have continuity and also Checked all the fuses for continuity and they all checked. Any recommendations?
So, what does the immobiliser do when it has recognised the correct key? Does it apply a certain voltage to one of those pins in the connector? If so, would it be possible to apply that voltage to the engine-side of that connector in order to bypass the immobiliser?
I did this by using a test light and putting it on the blue orange wire in the immobilizer harness, it worked and turned on for a day or 2 but now the same method does not start the car

Gee, it's not very wise to poke around, front probing wires with a jumper straight to ground, randomly looking for the right one. If you short circuit a power wire to ground, and you're lucky, you'll blow a fuse, perhaps not even realizing it, confusing the diagnosis. If you're unlucky, you could fry microelectronics, creating a huge extra expense and diagnostic confusion down the road. Techs with experience go to wiring diagrams, and if they ever have to probe randomly, they backprobe (to avoid damaging connectors) with a test light or multimeter that adds resistance to limit maximum current. Nobody wants to be that guy who messed up his car because friendly advice made it sound too easy.
