If you haven't got the memo that a criticism of religion is integral to both AFI and Davey Havok as an artist, you haven't been paying attention. Multiple songs from both AFI and Black Audio that are now over a decade old are explicitly critical of religion.
Agreed, so how would you interpret this? In my recollection, this is the first time he explicitly says Christ, and I feel like he’s inverting the line in the scripture when he says get behind me, satan? Like is he mocking someone praying? Or is he saying through meditation, he’s transcended prayer or the need for prayer? Lol love his cryptic lyrics
Agreed that a lot of the songs are about Christianity but it has always come off as mixed emotions like god called in sick today and miss murder etc where kinda like questions to god like if god is real then why this Kinda seemed like someone wrestling with wether they should believe and serve god or hate god But this is just mockery Seems like something a little kid would do like flip someone off to try to act cool I love afi but god is real and I hope one day you guys look deeper then the outside appearance that media portrays
@@donovansnyder5632 People act like he's fucking special for doing it also. Every time someone says something about Davey it goes to his fucking head and he acts to good for everyone else lmao. I have a lot of nostalgia for the band and I love their music but goddamn dude he's insufferable. Sorry about the mini rant but holy shit he makes song constantly about the same thing in three projects and people act like it's new lmao.
Love this album. I’m so glad they like to play all the time. It really is their lives isn’t it. This will do for O let’s say about six months before I look for new stuff. Lol 😉🤷🏻♀️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Seems to me like he's basically sarcastically "apologizing to christ" for the "sin" of being human and telling him that he doesn't care about the fear of punishment because life already hurts like a bitch as it is. And/or perhaps he's making a point that everything we do as humans is considered a mortal sin by religious people, even though it was designed that way by nature.
@@ians4858 I'm pretty sure he's not the "faith" and "devotion" type...he WOULD be more likely to write a song about dracula than faith and devotion (in any serious manner)
Not a single song on this album has an ounce of sub Stas.... Where's the actual music on this album....? Sounds like it took about 30 minutes to write this entire record. Yikes!
Just means you were expecting a different type of hook. All of the songs are well composed. Whether you like them or not is fine, but they are definitely well written
I love AFI but this is pure trash... Stop trying to be Depeche Mode or other 80's electronica and get back to real rock like the good old days of The art of drowning, Sing the sorrow and December underground. There's nothing wrong with trying something new but if it doesn't work go back to what your good at!
Fkn legends... I’ve been a fan 25 yrs, so stoked they have blessed us with another album.

@@williamwebster7985 I think the latter is a good possibility . It’d definitely fit into the theme of “Bodies”.
And?

This has such a haunting atmosphere. Keep up the beautiful work!
So raw and full of soul
Nice ! BEST BAND EVER !!!
It's like AFI doing a Depeche Mode style reinterpretation of Type O Negative's "Christian Woman."
MADE MY NIGHT
U mnie piątek rano.
Sounds like Depeche Mode.
My thoughts exactly. It's like AFI doing a Depeche Mode style reinterpretation of Type O Negative's "Christian Woman."
Ive been listen nextday full time. I love afi, i miss u bro!
He alwayz sang about sin and spirituality
It also, despite what others commented, isn't the first time he's explicitly called out and mocked Christ/Jesus.

omg another soulful beauty!
This reminds me of The fear of being found by blaqk audio
I bought the album and still stream it on UA-cam. #fan

Nevermind this is my new favorite.
This and Begging for Trouble are my favorites from the new album at the moment.
Far Too Near and Death Of The Party are my favorites.
Like DM! But, amazing!! ❤️❤️🔥👍
Best song do far! Is there a puscifer colab?
This was made to be in a vampire movie. So haunting, yet elegant.
👏👏👏🇧🇷
❤🎉
Good song but felt like it was on the worng album.Felt like it should have been on the blood album and it should have before so beneath you song.
🖤🖤🖤🇲🇽✨👏🏻
Such a change from Miss Murder.
Killer

I forgot about AFI. My bad.
What in the hell is this song about? lol
Ps. Love the sound of this song. Sounds like Depeche Mode to me.

@@Afireinside912 definitely a strong Songs of Faith and Devotion vibe. It almost sounds like he’s talking about an exorcism lol
It's more than likely about Dracula.

The illuminati ruined this band
I do believe in them and that they have influence over poplar acts but Davey has always been anti religious
Oh yeah because Smile was a great praise song from the band
for real bro?
Oh ffs.
Lol goof

Did you mean “substance?” Don’t talk shit if you can’t do it properly. Also, it’s a very different sound for them, but it’s refreshing.

@gxdfiend like you just did?
@gxdfiend never heard of you.... You can't be that good at what you do.... 👌

The good old days were 3 albums ago, accept that they evolved there sound. You can also binge his old band XTRMST if you want something heavier lol
New shit is trash. Shame cause I loved their old style.
They're in their mid 40's, it's called evolving
What is this slow shiit?? AFI is fast man.. Where y'all at? Terrible intro if y'all are coming back
Truth
Trash people ^^^
yeah no fast songs on this right?
pffft
You know that they are 45 right??????
