I was gonna say, wow these four are like the joy division of punk rock. Like a perfect band. I guess the exploited come to mind too, and gbh. That level.
10-31-2022, 42 yrs ago this Black Flag live Footage. WOW Black Flag is playing tonight 10-31-2022 at The Observatory in Santa Ana, ca. Amazing. 42 yrs later and Greg Ginn is still doing live shows!. Hot Damn

@@AnnoyingOrange420He actually had one, but don’t think he liked how it played. I heard he sold it to Brian Baker of Minor Threat who I’ve seen pictures of playing it. But yeah, I always thought the whole band with clear instruments would’ve looked awesome too.
The act of not trying to look the part as a punk for Greg Ginn, was I guess punk in and of itself did he do it on purpose or did he just really not give a fuck! and realized this wild intense music spoke for itself!
Puro poder!!!! Es un sonido tan imperfecto que es jodidamente perfecto, puedes sentir el enojo irradiar de las bocinas, brutal, de mis bandas favoritas sin dudas.
I want Robo’s clear Ludwig vista lite drums in the worst way!!!!!!! So freaking cool 24”,14”18” those things sounded like cannons!!!!!! He played them in the misfits and they spray painted them black...... what a shame. Robo and the mechanical hihat hand is legendary. Idk how his wrists didn’t cramp up playing that fast like that
This fucking band touched my soul like many others! 2021 my wife still ask....what the fuck!!!she’ll never get it what it was to be punk(black sheep’s)normal if you ask me what it was growing up in the 80s in so cal!
First heard black flag in 87 in Sydney Australia riding skateboards i was 13 and I started buying some records and absolutely love them Keith Morris my favourite singer but all good
Chavo was the fuckin man ! I hate that he only stayed with black flag for only 6 months . But his 6 months made a huge impact that is still felt till this very day on February 24th 2023 !
Ah.... Those were the days or should I say the Nights. We had a ritual when ever BlackFlag..AgentOrange..Fear.. Adolescence..Germs..was playing Downtown Hollywood eather at the Whiskey.. or the Starwood.. we'd pile up in Brad's beat up Blk 75 Chevy 1st stop liquor store and get 2 or 3 bottles of Tirolia wine and Maddog 20 20..2nd stop was this guy that lived Right around the corner of the Starwood he always had 714s lemmons (Quaaludes) or as we called them panty droppers ... Proceeded to get as FUCKED UP as possible and Go to the show...Yep wouldn't change a fucken thing if I had a chance to do it all over again...
For years I thought I didn't like Black Flag, and kept saying that they suck.. that was until I found out about everything they did before '81, about Ron Reyes and Keith Morris and suddenly they became one of the best bands in history to me. Nothing personal against Rollins though, just a matter of musical taste
Love classic BF. The knock on Ginn is that he supposedly didn't pay alot of the bands for their record sales when they were on SST. I think he might have even been sued over it.
Greg Ginn has such an evil nerd vibe. It's great that he never bothered to try to 'look' punk.
Hahahahahaha evil nerd vibe lol
There’s gotta be Venn diagram with black flag and blue’s clues
Makes him more punk actually...
The early American punk bands didn't have a "look". They just dressed in normal clothes.
weed. punk clothes can be expensive and for posers.. that's what I thought in 82.. I dressed in black and could not stand all these discharge like punks who spent hours combibing hair. discharge are were a great band
Solid performance. No matter who is in the line up Black Flag always delivered.
Ron Reyes kicks some serious ass.
When i heard black flag for the first time i never looked back for good or bad they changed my life forever
Damn...same here
I was just a rocker till I found Black Flag change my life in 1981
Watching this video is an indoctrination
Robo and Greg and Chuck and Ron. Best Black Flag line up ever.
Dez before he lost his voice was tops
Black Flag is still frickin awesome no matter the vocalist
Incorrect. Black Flag ended in 1986. Any incarnation after that is an absurd money grab.
Oh gawd
Agreed!
@@Punk93Metal Mike V is your current fav, huh?
"Back in the day" Black Flag would play a gig in every place that would host a band !!

Dez Cadena was my favorite singer
I'm a Keith man myself with Ron in a close 2nd.
Ron for me best BF frontman. Record wise Henry on Damaged.
I love henry and ron
this is it kids. it doesn't get better than this.

That performance of “revenge” is the best. Hot damn!
Fuckin' A right.
Ron Reyes was the best frontman and singer for sure. Robo is super robotic in this too haha
quite possibly the best portion of a video recording ive ever seen to date
DINGDONGDANIEL3 nope... Rollins was
@Ed Doug definitely chuck
@@mayfieldgage Why? Cause he acted like a meathead on stage all the time?

*IMO the REAL Black Flag*
I could watch these types of interviews for hours,
damn this footage looks sick
Ron Reyes jas always been one of my favorite black flag vocalists, he sings Depression a hell of a lot better than henry.
he gave that very raw energy on depression
agreed
I agree.
Ron reyes is hands down the worst singer they had. I dont get how anybody thinks he was decent at all. He was just a stand in from the start anyway

because it's from a movie.

For me, Chavo was the best Black Flag vocalist ever. Thats a pity he recorded so few songs at that time. Thanx for share it!
terrific post with the best sound i've heard so far on youtube
No doubt!!
This lineup loved their see thru instruments!!
I didn’t even notice the drums, if only Dukowski had an ampeg bass too

ROBO BEST BLACK FLAG DRUMMER
Chuck biscuits
I love Robo but the greatest Black Flag lineup that I saw was with Chuck Biscuits on drums and the duo guitars of Gregg and Dez.
@@danamquinn1 He did, actually. On a pre-MyWar Demo. There's a bootleg out there.

Triplet swing on the hi hats. Bill Stevenson said that was a unique and huge part of Robo's style in Black Flag
Wow!!!!!! The line up, sound, and footage quality is fucking top notch! Thanks!🙏🙏🙏
I still prefer this to 90% of what I have heard on the radio this week. Can someone please build a time machine and take me back to my 80s?
If I had a time machine, I would go back to this show and Woodstock '99.
Woodstock 99?
😂
Gotta see your Limp Biskit Kidd Rock and Alanis I reckon
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
You don't need to go back to Woodstock 99 to start a Riot.
Most of the lineup was pretty trashy (except KoRn).

This is one of the first iterations of Black Flag, back then. I think it’s one of the best imo.🏴
All those dudes not getting paid cause Greg got the money 💰
Black flag without Henry? I like them now
Ron Reyes ! best Black Flag lineup. period !
Band that changed my life's direction.🤘
Thank you for showing some pre-Henry Black flag. This is when they were good.
Their Decline of Western Civilization set remastered... sounds great.
Sounds excellent right? Colors are more vivid too. Super clear. Whatever they did it’s better than ever.

Dez too
Absolutely.
good old times
The perfect punk show
In this time i were in the kindergarten, but in 1984 i start to love rock and roll.
This footage is awesome, audio and video.
If somehow there's a Black Flag movie, Ed Norton has to play Chuck Dukowski, they look identical!!!
Always thought he looked like john cusack
Haha, early on I thought he kinda resembled a younger Kevin Spacey. Ed Norton would do a great job! Cusack too.
Ed Norton has a black flag tattoo on his back haha.
And Jim Carrey should play Greg Ginn. Look at him when he explains what Black Flack means :D
50 somethings playing 20 somethings. That would kinda be the tits tho
Holy shit they were sooooooo young
I always though Ron suited black flag more than Keith for there early stuff, since when Henry joined it got weird in a good way.
