this lineup is pure fire. bill is an powerhouse back there
Bill took a lot from working with Greg when he started Descendents back up. The single note hits are all over ALL. Robo's his first influence too and the hi hat work shows it
I saw them live when they were touring. Stephen Egerton does Ginn better than Ginn these days.
A year or so ago I commented on a punk site that I wasn't sure Keith could do this song. Keith was a member on the site and basically said motherfucker watch this!🤣
lmao love it
what site was it?
I had the same doubt at first, but from note one, Keith CRUSHED this song. He is super intense here.
Keith WAS Black Flag
@@thenewBH Lmao
Why aren’t the rest of the songs from this show recorded this well? This sounds so fuckin good, should be a live album
This is the best version of this song, every song on the album should've been recorded this heavy. I literally can't listen to "my war" without thinking "this could've been recorded so much better.
1982-1986 sound terrible, borderline unlistenable. Greg Ginn absolutely sucked at studio engineering.
Facts when I first came across this this gave me fucking chills I actually said to my self holy fucking shit the energy is wild
I mean, Rollins did a great job. But this will forever be "my war" in my mind.
@@chriswalker9478Problem definitely wasn’t Rollins, listen to the Radio Toyko performance, it goes insanely hard. The main album just could of been a better recording
You're one a THEYUMMM one a THEYYYUUHHHHMMMMMM!
xD
lmfao
dude I'm fucking lmao right now while watching this and thinking about your comment
Brilliance... haha
Oh, brother, I wish I could like your comment more than once
Dope that Keith even does the Henry songs. He's so good
Chuck wrote it
he was always my fav
@@Strimbles but it was a henry era
song
@@jpbslayer So f'n what!
@@jpbslayer Who's Henry today?
POS Sell Out.
'Written word' sucks, 'Music' Sucks!
That little angry 'man' just sucks!
That IS what Matters.
Not his LA BULLSHIT lifestyle Pop Punk Fakeness!
Was there in 86 and I'll take Flag minus that sellout CNT 'Black' Any Day
Keith Morris is my spirit animal
best version of My War ever played.
I agree!
This version is so fucking good! I like the faster tempo! The addition of Keith adds so much!
Best vocals: best drums still go to Chuck Biscuits on the demo version.
Six years later comment still stands with no "thumbs down" ;^))
Sorry man, Keith is great but Rollins is this song
Bill Stevenson is my hero! even more so after watching filmage.
great fucking doc
@@blankspott4467 ?
Blank Spott huh?
He's easily the most watchable drummer of all time. I'm privileged to know him and to have spent time with him over the years when I lived in Colorado where he lives. He's a legend
If this doesn’t get your blood pumping, you’re most likely dead! THIS is punk rock!! This venue is what it’s all about kids! All these legends giving it their all 30+ years later and sounding better than ever!!!
I know drunkie talk when I hear it
Keith's improvised spiel during the breakdown (approximately 3:00- 3:20) is everything.
Yeah ! Ha Ha haaa so much fun fantasy....
Wow, so much better than the Greg Ginn version of the band. Mostly because of Chuck and Bill. Now THAT's a rhythm section.
I dunno...Greg Ginn & politics aside, Black Flag kicked serious ass in 2019 on stage.
@@crooked-halo I saw them in I think 2013 and they were really good, but I just like this version of the band more.
@@Darrylizer1 Yes, every version of Black Flag is better than the current version with Frank V. But the current version isn't horrible IMO like many people say.
@@crooked-halo 2023 ain't kind
@@LC-wx3kn "2023 ain't kind?" Don't understand what you're trying to say. I've now seen Black Flag twice in 2023 and they're even better than 2019, 20 & 22. 5 times within 5 years. I went to Austin 2 weeks ago from Dallas & Black Flag was already into their 5th song. I was late, damnit & was so pissed off at myself that I was like "I'm gonna go to their show in El Paso tomorrow night!" Just a short 8 hour drive. West Texas with it's mountains & desert is awesome & beautiful, and once again Black Flag left me longing for more. So I'll go to their Lubbock, TX gig Sat. 4/29.
do you feel that shit just surging through your veins?
Ten years later and I can still say FLAG is one of the best shows I have ever seen
Fucking killer!!And i spotted my guy Nick Oliveri in the crowd...hope he is well...love Black Flag, and Flag has it all, respect your elders, kiddies, this is punk rock history being made.
1:16
LONG FUCKING LIVE CHUCK FUCKING DUKOWSKI, the man wrote this absolute milestone of punk rock.
2:29 Nick Oliveri on vocals :P
Nothing beats this track while running from Meriwether down the streets of Los Santos
As a follower of punk music since the late 70's and early 80’s, I think the lyrics from the album Group Sex (Circle Jerks) are ironic when seeing this video. Live Fast Die Young (written by members of the band) nears its end with Keith signing “I don't wanna live to be fifty seven”. Thank goodness he did live to that age and start this outstanding group. This 52 year old man loves Flag and especially “My War”. In my opinion, the best version of the original Black Flag song I have ever heard.
FUCK. YES.
Still listening at 58...
Well, this was 6 years ago, but maybe you're still out there...Circle Jerks is on tour right now. I'll see them in Dallas and Austin in a month! Can't wait, and I wonder if they'll even play "Live Fast, Die Young?!" Perhaps add a line older than Keith is right now?
@@crooked-halo I'm nearing 60 but Keith is nearly 67 so all I can say is...Live Fast Die Young !
THIS RULES. Funny how after all the replacing of band members Ginn did in the BF days, now HE'S actually replaced. Oh well. Love his guitar work and his whole resume, but in 2013 to see this is totally and completely awesome.
Keith rocked this Dukowski classic by the way. Go Keith!
Better than current black flag...sorry greg
i wish greg would join flag
@@sludge.eater6 that will never happen, you do know flag exists mostly to make greg mad
@@TommyWashow yea i wish everyone would stop being twats and just reform the original black flag
@@sludge.eater6 no you dont. greg is a terrible musician
@@TommyWashow He's a fantastic punk guitarist. Sure "musician" is a bit of a stretch, but his intensity and chaos on his guitar parts was a HUGE part of what gave BF their sound. But he's an absolute prick as a person which is a shame.
This is Real Black Flag compared to what Black Flag is now.
now?
Because Keith Morris is waaaaaaay better
...because Greg Ginn's current version sucks ass, and he has nothing better to do than file lawsuits against former members
Because Bill is back
Gabriell Ron Reyes
this is great just pure intensity and a bunch of guys clearly playing for the simple joy of doing so. Im sure i'll get some hate for this but id love to see FLAG get Henry involved just for a show or two just for the simple fun of it. they are already spot on I just think it would be great. regardless i hope i get the chance to see this live. what a great chance for those of us who were to young to see black flag in the 70s/80s. this is awesome!!
Henry is to busy singing flag songs with Cindy lopper for Christmas specials...look it up
One of the band members had I keyboard guitar if I remember right
Henry retired from live music a long time ago, apart from a few odd examples here and there.
I hope these guys would release one of these shows as a CD. I can’t get over how good they sound here.
Greg Ginn would sue them into a retirement home unfortunately
Dukowski is all over the bass like tar on new white shoes. Whole band is firing on all 8 cylinders! Exceptional! *****
Keith goddamn fucking slays this. This song is all about anger and hatred to me and he just oozes it, full blown 100 percent commitment in both his voice and body. Jaw dropping performance from all, I'm just calling attention to Keith in particular because I thought no-one but Rollins could do this song justice... I was verry wrong.
I cant believe how fucking great this is!! Jesus Christ that was for real punk rock! I swear that was better than when I saw Black Flag with Rollins in the 80s. Keith Morris at 80 will still be killing it.
Kinda makes you wish you were there, eh?
Kinda makes you wish you were there, eh?
What, no moshing? Damn, we all got old!
Bill Stephenson actually looks like a human being here! He looked like a wild beast on that 1984 live "My War" video!
They might be old but that spirit is more than enough comparing to nowadays old man. Hell yeah🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've probably watched this a few thousand times since it was uploaded, mostly to scream along and let shit out without ending up in cuffs.
Thanks for this, amazing performance
Yes, this lineup is great! 😊
Damn. WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS TO BE THIS GOOD ALL CAPS
hearing Keith do My War is so powerful!!!!!
Its been already 10 years? JFC! Damn!
This is my favorite thing ever
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG.
I love FLAG, what they do is amazing and reviving the passion a lot of people lost along the way.
Hearing about Ginn's pathetic lawsuit just now against them and Rollins, I must say Greg Ginn should team-up with Lars Ulrich and start a new band called Douchebags.
The thing is, Greg Ginn is the one who compose all Black Flag music and if you notice the guitarist in Flag even using the same transparent guitar which is a known signature axe use by Greg Ginn.
What a fucking great sounding live video! Shit I wish I was there.
This is one of the greatest, most powerful songs I've ever seen played live. Wow! It's April of 23 and Black Flag is touring the 40th anniversary of My War. Mike V & Black Flag kick ass, but cannot compare with the way Keith Morris and the boys do this song here! This was a moment of musical history, a perfect performance of My War, played by punk rock gods. Fortunate beyond belief are those in that small crowd! Excellent! _Keith Morris is still so good_ on stage, behind the microphone at 67 years old!
This reminds me of the time I found a box of 50 year old M80’s in the attic of an old house I bought. The first one I lit with great expectation, and was not disappointed.
The dude at 1:17 who fist pumps totally knows how rad this song is.
Rudy Forsberg nick oliveri
thats Nick Oliveri from Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age
HELL YEA!!!!!!
The descendents are awsome and when you add the great voice of keith you have magic
I cried watching this. Thank deity this happened. Rock n' roll was dead before FLAG brought magic back to the world.
yep here we are!
Damn! I wish this group would tour again!
Every single video of FLAG I've seen has been super tight and well-rehearsed, they're absolutely fantastic.
one of those i wish i was there gigs,
Oh my God. This is awesome.
AWESOME!!!
This is one of the videos I always come back to when I need that punk rock spirit that drives me forward. Glorious.
Simply amazing.
Welcome to Channel X! the best rock radio in los santos.
The music is SPOT ON ! Wow !
This song still gets me as it did so long ago when I first heard it!!!
OOOOHH HELLLL! Just the best performance of this song. Blew it out of the freakin water!
God damn, this is fantastic.
This is so damn rad. But Bill on drums is just always something to behold
the best live version !! so energic !!
You can't get any better, band and cinematography!!!!
I love how calmy Bill plays this song, he always hits hard yet looks so composed and laid back
Damnnnnnn this looks so sick!!
Saw them in Pittsburgh 4 years ago. I was blown away.
THANKS
They Killed it so hard. Great Job

Love this tune! Always have always will!
Incredible performance.
This era will never be forgotten.....💪💥

This is one of the best things I've ever listened to!
This is fucking unbelievable... These guys, even after all of these years, still kick so much fucking ass.
Sounds perfect
F'n amazing.
Always happy to see bill stevenson kslamming it on drums !
Sounds great.
Holy Moly. Phenomenal. Go get em Keith!
Nick Oliveri seems to be enjoying it haha

Bill Stevenson .
KILLING it.
They are on tour right now guys
that was the most blood pumping exciting thing ive heard in a while
Great version of my favorite song. I have to come back once a month, so I can get pumped up to take on the world.
This is a great fast version with Keith, damn great
Holy shit this is fantastic.
dat blast @3:36
dude thtat is so intense... like is the perfect thing u can do in that song as a drumer to increase the intencity of the hole place in 2 seconds...
Morris, you got it!!!!
More FLAG in the new year!
Mind blowing
Now THIS is what Black Flag should be. Not that Mike Vallely bullshit.
I didn't know who you were talking about so I looked it up. Totally f-ing concur man :)
@@quintinout He's a skater. He's a pretty good vocalist for Mike V and The Rats.
IMO that 2013 Black Flag album sucked because the recording was totally FUUUUCKED.
The drums were muddy as all hell and the mixing sucked dick. The songs were ok ig.
Just checking back in to say thanks .
BRILLIANT!
Love it! I saw Flag at Riot Fest and they tore it up! They cooked hard!!!
Just hit me that the presenter for Channel X in GTA 5 is Keith (the singer).
Holy shit, never noticed and thats my most played station! Thanks!
Holy shit this sounds incredible!
Incredible
Wow! Keith Morris fucking rocks!!! Well over 50 and still kicking out the jams...way to go brother.
SICK SICK SICK!
HOLY FUCK. It simply doesn't get better.
Holy shit this is amazing.
