This guy is a narcissistic…it’s not a scam ..I dealt with a classic narcissist for years and he provides the truest insight in his talks. The way he interacts in this documentary just confirmed it for me. The only thing that perplexes me is his ability to self analyze…it’s incredible and I would say extremely rare and those of us who have suffered through a situation like this are lucky to have him because otherwise it would be difficult to get any true understanding since most narcissists will never admit there is something wrong with them since there is no one inside them how or what will they analyze. It’s just as he says.

I’m only halfway through this video but I find it fascinating because I am a fan of Sam. My father was a malignant narcissist and Sam’s content taught me a lot about my father , how to deal and how to not deal with my father , and ultimately how to let go of the fantasy of having a relationship with someone who is that mentally ill. My father has been dead for years but I still struggle with the things that he taught me as a child and the lies that he said about me and the things that he said to me live on in my mind. I struggle with the legacy of shame and hurt and incompetency that he told me , defined me. He was a screw and ruthless to me as Sam is to this film maker and he was my father so you can imagine the power of those words coming from the man who brought you to life. I ended up marrying a man who was somewhat narcissistic on a much lower level but still abnormal. And I have a history of men and women in my path , friends , coworkers, bosses that would rate very high on the narcissism scale because I was used to dealing with that type of personality, good and bad.

The narcissism test was one visit and a standard exam, pretty fast for such a big diagnosis. That test showed low-grade narcissism, so he is still on the spectrum. Also, high avoidant, paranoid and schizophrenia, a combo often seen in mental illness and an inability to cope in an outpatient setting. He was also diagnosed with very strong psychopathy. His MRI showed low arousal = his couldn’t move his emotions up or down by thinking of sad or happy things. Low arousal is why they think psychopaths do such extreme things: actually trigger feelings. That’s why MRI is so helpful in diagnosis. Those results combined with his written test score resulted in a score of 18 out of 24. Disappointed to hear about the fake degree, yet that doesn’t totally invalidate his entire body of work. He is so extreme in where he will take his views (and verbalize then), he can make even a regular old narcissist cringe. That’s the psychopathy showing through. I wonder what his thesis was about 🧐

I was bedridden, self-isolated, begging God to remove the filth left on me, and did hundreds of ritual cleansings & soul tie cord cutting exercises in meditation.
Night terrors, shaking uncontrollably, couldn't get out of bed for longer than maybe an hour at a time, brain fog, could not let men look at me , fear of red trucks, left with PTSD... its taken nearly 5 years to heal the trauma (with counseling and meds).

Then, smile subtly and chuckle without saying anything, not taking the bait. This will frustrate them beyond words, where they will only want to escape the situation. If you show no emotion and let them know you are above them and their games, you will crush whatever fabrication they’re standing on.

I recognise Sam's bullying and games in bad leaders I have, and he explains brilliantly how the brain shuts down in fear. That gives us an antidote, and we should be grateful for him showing us this. All we have is this, we must not give in to fear and shut down. We must see these people for who they are, and learn how to deal with them. I know now, that every time I get that feeling now around someone, I end the contact. Unfortunately many of them will be our boss.

I have had some professional dealings with psychopaths in the past, and the claims in these comment threads by individuals claiming to be psychopaths are quaint. It's become one of those disorders that is attractive for people to lay claim to on social media, because it's claimants feel powerful in doing so.

It's interesting because I've seen some official primary psychopaths online disprove that Sam Vaknin is one and the best evidence against him being one is at this time stamp 39:09 .
The documentary suggests that he showed cold emotion within the brain scans but that's not the result that was being displayed. Like his wife, he was showing the normal range of emotions and only flatlines later. This implies he can feel empathy but picks and chooses when to be callous which is otherwise beyond a Psychopath's capability as their brain wiring would disallow them from feeling empathy at all.
In fact, the documentary skims over this detail but suggests that when Sam was placed into MRI, he started off badly and so he was given more than one chance (Likely because he was showing normal emotional responses in those instances).

@@Србомбоница86 Hmmm, his channel should be taken with a grain of salt. He cannot help but sometimes project his personality deficiencies onto healthy individuals. His narcissism (and psychopathy if there's any) indeed aren't curable (not because there is no treatment, but because it requires him to commit to it by being prepared to think less of himself and concede some control to his potential therapist, which he is not willing to do). Due to this incurability of his, he claims for some of the other disorders that can be treated with success that they are incurable (as much as his disorder is) but this is not true.
He can probably understand, but can't integrate and therefore accept the concept of imperfection, because his "false self" is an infallible perfection, whereas his "true self" is diametrically opposite - a total failure. He can't find the imperfect golden middle because it doesn't exist within him. Therefore he draws the conclusion that people can't be cured of some mental health issues like borderline personality disorder or co-dependency, because his expectation is that a cured person should be 100% perfectly cured, while the reality is that none of us are perfect and even upon completion of treatment, a person will still be imperfect, just within a healthier, normal range of imperfect.

Anyone who does something antisocial should expect to be met with social (and sometimes legal) judgment and there's no way around that because it's a social (and again, legal) norm.
I should say that I personally make a distinction between negative comments and demeaning comments. I think it's a good distinction to keep in mind. Negative comments are keeping us accountable as members of society, demeaning comments should be avoided (after all, that's exactly the kind of poor behavior Sam exhibits in this documentary).
I'm not sure though how to interpret "he IS a psychopath, of course he expects absolute perfection" in the context of what I said (him projecting, i.e. introducing his psychopathic expectations of perfectionism into his conclusions about (un)treatability of some mental disorders).
If this means your awareness that he's projecting and that his conclusions indeed should be taken with a grain of salt, we are on the same page.
If you mean it in a sense that pointing it out to you in particular is redundant as you are aware, I understand, and if that's the case I'm hoping that what I wrote may be helpful to someone else whose filters are still not "there", so to speak.

I've been intensely watching Sam's videos for the past month listening to his assessments about Israel-Palestine-Hamas. It took over a month before YT algorithms managed to display this very interesting documentary about the more 'real' Sam. Thank you for giving me an insight into the real him at least from 13 years ago. The fact that you didn't share anything his family shared with you and I haven't been able to find anything about their POV, says a lot about his estrangement from his siblings. I feel sorry for Lidjia yet I understand her love for him and her need to be with him. Sam is very attractive when he's acting more normal. She's also at the age now she wouldn't have any other option. And I do think that Sam does love and need her in his own way, but he'd be very very difficult to live with even today. I knew he didn't complete his residency to be a physician, but I didn't know he didn't quite complete his PhD and that it was the equivalent of going through a diploma mill education service. How sad that someone with his incredible intelligence and focus is trapped in his own self-abusive life. Now I understand why he self markets himself the way he does and why virtually all of the main stream media and other top notch thinkers stay away from him. The talk he gave Romanian young people a year or so ago was excellent. When he's good he's great, but his verbal outbursts to people is terrible. I no longer wonder why his relationship with Richard Grannon ended suddenly.

I agree poor mouse! But, when I try to describe what being in a relationship with a narcissist looks or feels like I use the car and mouse analogy. What most normal people think that looks like is the cat chasing the mouse while the mouse outsmarts him like a tom and jerry cartoon because they've never witnessed it. My discription it's like the cat has the mouse between it's paws and it's turning him into piece of gray chewing gum. This is how you feel after narcissistic abuse!

It does seem odd to market oneself as a narcissist and a psychopath. Most people who can be categorized as these things prefer to have such a diagnosis to be unknown to all they encounter to better practice their dastardly deeds. It's like he wants to be the cuddly psychopath who is quirky and charming while telling everyone of his brilliance and danger, which makes me think he is a poser cashing in on societal curiosity about such things.

Sam is more so a classic narcissist than a clinical psychopath, although the disorders do overlap. The irony is of course, that the only people who ever seem to call themselves "psychopaths" are narcissists, and never actual psychopaths. The claim in and of itself usually reveal such a personality disorder. I see this time and time again. Often because they want to seem "cool," "special," and "fascinating/mysterious."

I think the documentary may be providing some misleading information regarding the subject of Psychopathy. Sam is likely not a Psychopath but most likely a Malignant Narcissist given his fragile ego. It's interesting because I've seen some official primary psychopaths online disprove that Sam Vaknin is one and the best evidence against him being one is at this time stamp 39:09
In fact, the documentary skims over this detail but suggests that when Sam was placed into MRI, he started off badly, so he was given more than one chance (Likely because he was showing normal emotional responses in those instances).

To this day I am still questioning if my brother suffers from BPD/a major narcissistic personality disorder or if he is truly a psychopath. He has left a path of destruction, pain and hurt with pretty much everyone who has crossed paths with him. They say that psychopaths don't feel empathy and can mimic or fake it.
I can see so many similarities with Sam's personality (lying, self-agrandizing behavior but low-self esteem, gaslighting, agressive/standoffish, some impulsive behavior yet calculating, etc.) . My brother knows the difference between right and wrong and I think he can understand when he has hurt someone but it's like he doesn't care. Most of the time he actually takes pleasure in doing so and it actually makes him feel better, it seems to lift up his own low self-esteem. He knows how to hurt someone in the most horrible ways, it's terrible, yet women keep going after him. I've never understood it.
To the victims who have gotten out or to their families, I send you much love and courage. It is an exhausting experience of constantly being gaslit, put down, only to be brought back up and reeled back in. They have to take responsibility for their actions (if at all possible) and be willing to seek help. If not, you have to distance yourself for the sake of your own mental health, no matter how painful that may be.

I recommend the channel: _Psychopathy Is_ I found their videos to be incredibly informative, interesting, and compassionate. It's difficult for those of us with psychopathic loved ones to get evidence-based information about this vilified and misunderstood condition. They interview people who have psychopathy, people who have loved ones (a child or spouse) who have psychopathic traits. As well as psychopathy researchers and mental health experts. I found this video and Dr. Barron's other video about psychopathy 'treatment modalities' to be some of the best descriptions I've found to describe my experience. Hope this helps.

@rainremnant177 Hi rain, thanks for your comment. I do realize that people with BPD are capable of empathy. I certainly did not mean to mix the two. What I meant to say is that like in many mental health conditions, many traits/symptoms can overlap which can sometimes make it difficult to distinguish what is going on (ex. periods of depression, black and white thinking, impulsive behavior, etc. These can be seen in several conditions right?).
What I struggle to understand with my brother is that he seems to want to show empathy (or remorse) but I'm not sure if he genuinely feels it, feels it in a 'warped' way or simply 'mimics' empathy in a learned sort of way so that he can somewhat function? It's like he knows what he does is hurtful to others (not always but sometimes) but the other person always deserved it or he doesn't really care to/can't understand what it's like for others to undergo the pain that he inflicts so it just doesn't seem to bother him. He always has to be the victim (gaslight) when confronted or there's always a valid reason to do what he does whenever it comes time to feel empathy. His reality is never the same as ours so there's always an excuse for his behaviour, therefore no ownership. I hope that makes sense.

Sam Vaknin is able to self analyse which is very rare even in normal personnalities... The reason why he is able is because our mind operate not only on the biological level, and on the soul level, but on the spiritual level too... Each one of us, psychopath or not, we live on three worlds : the social and biological actor with a mask, and on a spiritual level with the spirit... The "I" can chose one against the other, as the robotic man on the street , or deep mystics absorbed in the source , or be in a state where we stay conscious alternatively of our own internal duality... Reincarnation exist also...It seems Sam Vaknin is able to be conscious about his compulsion to act in some way...Why not ? i listen to iceman Kuklinski confession , and he was conscious of a void in himself too... We have many lifetimes to become what we really are...If it was not the case, psychopath will be a spiritual enigmas unsolvable ... What remain though a problem in one life can look for his solution in another life... Consciousness is the intuition of this solution crossing a higher level than the mere biological and social mindset , even serial killers know or could discover they are ill... Sam Vaknin introspection has his limits as for any of us but can be very helpful to listen to and in fact more helpful for most than perhaps my own healthy person introspection ... He is highly intelligent... I look at his youtube with interest and criticism too ...

Is Sam really a crank or just a malignant narcissist? I knew someone like him, he pretended he was interested in what I did, but the minute his attitude turned, I knew something was off. When he started getting angry at me for nothing, I said, "Well I guess that's too bad." It shut him up then and there, because he knew he wouldn't be able to use me for a punching bag. I'd dealt with people like him before.

Malignant Narcissist. He shows vengeful callousness, grandiosity, and self entitlement but also shows an extremely fragile ego given the amount of tantrums he throws throughout the documentary which aren't traits related to Psychopathy at all. He essentially embarked on this journey to just get the diagnosis in order to inflate his own ego but the results from the brain scans at 39:09 speak for themselves. He had the normal range of empathetic emotions just like his wife. :P

I am surprised so many people do not think he is a psychopath just because he thinks he's one. Yes it's unusual for them to come forward, but not impossible? Also he had a brain scan. If he were faking it, I think that would show up. Also i think that the test he took probably would show it if he were trying to fake results too. ?
as far as his blow ups, it seems like that's how he makes others into victims. The other problem with being around a psychopath is that they don't necessarily look or seem like one. But it's in the actions, do they have any sense of conscious, not how they look.

Sam's wife is a victim of social programming just like every other woman who grows up watching Disney movies and waiting for Prince charming. That is all a fantasy and unrealistic, but that doesn't mean you have to settle for some psychopathic jerk who is incapable of love and just sees you as an object.

Aspergers has more in common with psychopathy than many want to admit, certainly more than the narcissism/psychopathy relationship imo

True but the only problem is that I don't think he was able to.

Sam sounds like every Eastern European I’ve met. Pretty much! Too honest, giving everyone a list about what they’re like and who they are… just everything. It’s a cultural thing. I know he’s Israeli but still, very Eastern European. I’m from one of those countries. I know many families including my own. Sometimes my own sincerity gets me into trouble and to be honest it’s a language thing: you translate in English and it’s sounds so direct and harsh.

In fact, most of them believed that he was just a Malignant Narcissist which is similar but completely different from Psychopathy.

@@HaileyBabi Yes. Blending in is a given for a Psychopath if they intend to get something or assimilate within society. So they need to adapt.
A primary psychopath truly doesn’t care about what other people think of them.
One psychopath by the name of Athena Walker answered this question on Quora and made it clear that attention just annoys her and to desire validation stems from a low self esteem which only narcissists have because they can feel emotion. They just deliberately choose to not be empathetic.
