At 20:29 the instructions say the stretch release tape strips must be placed in a specific orientation. It says the instructions are in the "maintenance and service guide". Where do I find that guide?
Found a picture of the tape installed on the back. The tape just goes to the immediate left and right of the silver tape that's attached to the lid. Nothing special other than that.

I'm sure you don't need this now, but for others wondering, you use a sharp plastic tool to lift up one end and then peel it up. The adhesive come up with foot. When reapplying, secure one end then the opposite end and then carefully put the foot down between them. If you try to apply it from one end to the other, the foot will stretch a tiny bit and the end will end up past the channel the foot rests in. My advice? Don't put the feet back in the channels that have screws under them. Put them down adjacent to the channels instead, leaving the screws exposed. Use medium strength thread locker on the screws so they don't fall out.
Great video. I wish the SD card reader was actually available in the parts system 6050A3261001-CARDREADER-AX2 I cant seem to find it anywhere, looks like it never made it out of the prototype stage. I can get the board with the USB and LED but not the reader.
Replaced the complete LDC assembly, but the backlight doesn't seem to be working. I can make out the HP logo at boot and the time once it gets to the Windows logon screen. Hinge switch seems to be working as opening and closing the lid causes the external monitor to change states. Windows sees the main display in the laptop as a valid display, just no backlight. Reverified the the ribbon cable was connected an fully seated on the connector on the motherboard. Don't know if I missed a step or just have a defective part.

You have to use a sharp plastic tool to pry the base away from the keyboard/top cover at the edges. It can be a pain. Start on the corner near the hinge, next to the DC input.

Not really no. Most of the spares from the CN1xxx are now parts from the CN2xxx.

You have to use a sharp plastic tool to pry the base away from the keyboard/top cover at the edges. It can be a pain. Start on the corner near the hinge, next to the DC input.

The keyboard and top cover are one piece. That piece is the part that everything is attached to so to replace it, you pretty much have to do a complete teardown.
