- Join us as we explore Surabaya’s vibrant, family-friendly Kodam Night Market. After a long travel day, the kids were ready to relax and enjoy this night market’s activities. There were carnival rides, competitive games, and interactive activities. This bustling market definitely comes alive at night and seems to be the place where many people congregate. While the kids enjoyed rows and rows of carnival games, we went in search of food!
The food vendors at the Kodam Night Market offer an enticing selection of local and international cuisine. We tried so much food: potato swirls, mochi, Japanese pancakes, satay, durian shake, fire-roasted cumi (squid), and mozzarella cheese on a stick. Then, just as we were wrapping up the night, the kids decided they needed to go on a soccer jersey hunt. We had such a great time exploring this night market. We are the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly with our three children. We sold our home in Alaska, USA, eight years ago, and headed overseas. We are teachers and found fantastic teaching positions in Chennai, India. Two years later, we moved to the United Arab Emirates. Three years after that, during the beginning of the pandemic, we made the move to our current teaching jobs in Indonesia. We love traveling and finding adventures as a family. what you do with that carousel-like ride thing is that you put your kids in there, pay cheap amount of money (for relatively as long as you want, usually), then the parent can go around nearby to grab some meals or snacks. my kids can stay for tens of minutes in there, so i could get a good amount of rest lol.

38:15(in the video) we just got two Korean corn dog restaurants in my city in Arizona. I think that's where the trend originated at least in full force to go globally. (Cheese filled corndogs is very popular in Korea, with potatoes, sugar, ketchup, mustard the works) They are pretty good. I think the family was divided on liking them, but I think they are fun and delicious. Definitely eat them while they are freshly fried.
