The fact that this thing is basically exactly as fast as a Harley 48 but with half the displacement cracks me up.
I would consider it if it was a v-twin
Kawasaki did not kill Harley. Harley killed Harley.
LMFAO! YES THEY DID!
Bikers killed harley... whit phrases like; "883 is not a harley"... "v rod is not a harley"... "dyna is not a harley"...
@Palm Coast Adventures exactly! I was in the Harleys shop a couple days ago and was baffled at their prices... crazy if you ask me. Cant bring myself to pay more than 5,000 dollars for a bike. 2 wheels, no heat or air conditioning, ect.. i paid 2,500$ for my 1500 Vulcan.. love it and it serves the same exact purpose as an overpriced Harley in my opinion.
.
@@mnstrmike4853 For 30 grand you get a 10 thousand dollar bike and a 20 thousand dollar membership to the cool club.
Nathaniel Carreon Trump’s supporters killed Harley
What’s quite impressive is how the sticky note made it all the way back 😂
I was thinking the same thing
God's word endures the test of time
Ergo-fit: Controls adjust to three locations, handlebars adjust and can be changed for reduced or extended reach, the seat does not move, it is changed to fit rider. Mid-reach is standard. Reduced reach and extended reach available. *Passenger seats are specific to the size of rider's seat.
I love this motorcycle. I have had it for almost a year and ride it almost everyday. Fun to ride and easy to control. If you are thinking about getting one, just do it. You will not regret it.
Gonna say, I've had mine for a few months now. I am very happy with it. Such a nice bike. I thought I'd end up changing the headlight because I've always thought it ugly, but actually on my matte black model, it looks good. It's an odd combination, she can be tame enough to accommodate newer riders and can inspire confidence, yet, can shoot up to speed very quickly when wanted and almost goads you to do it. Like it can function as a starter bike, not feel like a starter bike and grow with you, whilst being gorgeous, feeling great to ride and all this whilst keeping reasonable cost. Kawasaki hit the nail on the head with it.
Based on your review my Son bought a Kawasaki Vulcan S for his first bike. He absolutely LOVES it. Had it two weeks and has put 1200 miles on it so far. It is a fantastic starter bike. Keeps up nicely with my 2008 FJR1300. Thank you for the great review.
1200 in his first two weeks, impressive.
@@ziad6010 That's what I thought lmao
@@zwurka6826 possibly too much lol
1200 in two weeks jesus - at least he enjoys it though!
I barely put 1,500 and been riding mine to work mostly everyday for 3 months. I live about 35 min away from work too
Harley sells more apparel than bikes, so technically they’re a clothing store that sells bikes?
I owned a Harley. I believe that as well. They are a merchandising company that happens to sell motorcycles.
I've owned a Dyna for one season now & feel HD is highly overrated
Yet they sell more motorcycles than any other company, so they are just a conglomerate?
And that clothing is Chinese-made.
@@astro0125 I think Harley sales reduced significantly for the past 2-3yrs. Not sure but I heard.
I have seen all of your videos featuring the Kawasaki Vulcan S, was so intriguing, I bought a new 2019.
I’m getting a new 21 next weekend! Technically going to buy this weekend but won’t be able to drive until next!
@@jk6956 how is it?
That’s a sweet 650! I like big bore bikes, but I find the smaller cc bikes very fun.
Nice vid; thanks for making it. I'm a huge fan of the Kawa 650 engine. The Ninja, the Versys, and now the Vulcan 650S all share derivations of it. It's a mighty engine in any configuration. Thanks again.
A similar, appreciative review of the same bike, for those who are giving it serious consideration: ua-cam.com/video/2FhGVlzjd5c/v-deo.html .
forgot the z650
Actually, I never knew that. Thanks for setting me straight.
@@mr.solitude3352 I have the Kawasaki ER6N 2015 with the same 650 engine ..I love it
Japanese make excellent bikes
Dennis Morris true but NO class.
excellent bikes with very good engines, but in the design department they are bland, american and European bikes looks much nicer.
they make souless bikes
It's just have a high compression engine nd Harley have low compression engine. U can put a sports bike engine in a cruiser but that doesn't make any sense
Lol. I ALSO have a "Japanese Harley " 1500 Vulcan 1993. Runs great and had 15000 miles when i purchased it. Key WORD/ had/ Love it!!! HALLELUYAH .. what do you think about " Japanese Harleys"? Any info would be appreciated
Just bought a 2019 after extensive research and planning . Really nice bike.
Love your videos. Love your words of wisdom before every ride- it's Something I'm applying in my life.
I have a 2018 650S. Love the bike.
Hate the seat. Can't sit on it after an hour. Hurts too bad and I just lost 40 lbs. Only option is a $600 Corbin seat.
Just hit 500 miles. Not sure if it's normal or not but I found the chain slack over 40mm. I corrected it to 15mm. No other complaints than the seat.
Love your channels bro! Thanks for always keeping it real!! I am originally from the Philly area so fist pump to PA!! God Bless Bro!
The pant covering for just your legs exists: Chaps. They are practical and leather chaps fit perfectly with cruiser clothing fashion.
It would be awesome if they made a vulcan S 1000cc
+saliston wow ! I like the way you think. We should start a petition
They should drop the engine from the Z900 into a Vulcan frame. Would love to have a bigger Vulcan S to move up to
saliston then he would be saying its faster than a f16 jet. Coz when youre on the internet, you can lie lol. Ride safe.
saliston, or even a bigger block. I am hoping for that since the introduction of the VN650S
@@Srkcycles Better yet if Yamaha made a Vulcan competitor with the FZ07 and FZ09 motors like they made the retro bikes.
I've been riding a Sportster since 1995. If it ever dies, I shall have a Vulcan. As king of the universe, I decree it thusly!
I fell in love with this bike after passing my test 7 years ago, it looks fabulous and has great reviews; but then decided instead to “go big” to justify all the work & expense I’d put into the trading & tests. Now I ride a Suzuki M109R (M1800R.) I love the bike but at around 800lbs it’s a big beast to lug around, especially in & out of the garage. Also it doesn’t have ABS. I also have the Kawasaki 1000SX. I’ve noticed a few people I know who ride big high displacement bikes, are starting to look again at mid range bikes around 800cc, and although this bike is a 650 it seems to punch above its weight, also looks like it could be easier to live with day to day (apart from being chain driven!) Not sure I can still justify 2 bikes, & this could be versatile enough as a replacement for both.
Not a Christian, not religious, but I enjoy the words of wisdom. Puts a little positivity in an otherwise negative world.
How about versus another Vulcan like the 900 or maybe a Yamaha Bolt or Suzuki Boulevard?
I got me a Vulcan s 650 2018 and it a great ride
my grandpa has 1500cc Kawasaki Vulcan classic, but my grandma calls it a killing machine, I bet they would both love this thing.
@srkcycles What about if I'm 300 lbs? My shadow 750 is great until I'm trying to go 75 down the highway... it does 75, I've had it up to 85... but, at 75 you hardly have any power left to pass if needed. I'm still new to riding, would this be a good mini upgrade? Or should I just jump to a bigger cc cruiser?
Would you recommend this bike for a beginner as a first bike? I'm looking for my first bike and I'm torn between the Rebel 500 and the Vulcan S
I noticed this is an old video, but how often do you guys get one of these bikes in??
Currently own a vulcan 800
Would you think i'd enjoy this bike comming from a ZZR 1100?
Or would you think it'd be a nice addition rather than a replacement?
When reading or watching videos on it, it seems sooooo slow, but looks so comfy at the same time. Tho i only have my 1100 to compare it with.
Here on the IL/WI Border this evening after work in 43 degree weather Spring fever hit me along with the extra hour of daylight after work. I took my 2019 Vulcan S ABS In Beautiful Stormcloud Blue out for a 35 mile cruise on country roads. It is incredible just how fast I get up to 60 mph with the smoothest of shifting. I would say I am not too happy with the sound of the exhaust and looking at changing that by Summer. I put 4,200 miles on it last season purchased June 1st. I’m 6’ 4” tall and their “Ergo Fit” system was great for me with one of three available seats I have the one that puts my butt much further back. Then purchased a longer shifter rod and moved forward controls way forward. Added a passenger seat and foot peg kit even though I have never hauled a passenger just seemed like a good thing to do though getting small luggage rack that installs in the same spot as the rear passenger seat to add to carry space for luggage. Bought the heavy duty saddle bag rack system made for their premium saddlebags but I plan on simply using them as universal mounts getting Pelican type boxes to use as side saddle bags for more of an industrial look instead of traditional leather saddle bags. The bike is incredible. My two cousins that ride Harley’s were a little bit upset for me when I wrote them that I had bout the bike but now both agree it’s a damn good bike. Though they both think I should own the Vulcan AND get a Harley. Who knows. I’d probably get an adventure bike before I’d ever get a HD. Stop in and test drive a Vulcan. You’ll be amazed.
I am a 5ft female and love my 2017 Vulcan s..had to buy closer seat and set pegs at shortest setting..but it's fast, fun and I feel confident on it.oh and another mod that's great are slip on foam handgrip covers..I didn't like the hard rubber grips..it was a cheap fix..and is amazing on long rides
Where did you buy the closer seat 😫
Yes I'm agree with foam grips , I have a Kawasaki ER6N 2015 and they make a big difference and only cost a couple of pounds ....
Shaun& Caleb I always enjoy your reviews. I think I have a worthy opponent for the Vulcan. The suzuki 800 intruder. The vulcan S runs a 13.18 in the 1/4 miles. The intruder runs a 13.31. So I'd say it's a riders race. Old school vs new school. Come on guys make it happen. I own a 2002 intruder. I'd love to know
How does this thing corner? busy urban commute and stuff. I'm thinking between this and Suzuki sv650. I prefer a cruiser but just cause of the cornering capabilities
Shawn is a Kool Kat he keeps it real even riding in the rain awesome luv this guy
I never thought I'd want a cruiser, but this bike is giving me second thoughts.
Same
Yeah, it’s nice!
I have one.
It’s pretty amazing and remarkably quick.
Keep the RPMs below 4K and it’s gentle (maybe a tad twitchy in first gear). BUT over 4K and playing around at 5-6K and it really responds.
I have to remind my self to stop accelerating.
It is ranked as one of the fastest cruisers. The 900 is also.
@@izzojoseph2 I did end up getting one, a green 2015. I love pretty much everything about it, except for how “twitchy” the lower gears usually are. Installed a booster plug. Not much difference, as far as I can tell. Also not a huge fan of the mid-reach seat (finding the extended-reach has proven to be difficult). I find the handling to be amazing. It feels like I’m riding my old 250.
@@paxonearth ~ awesome!
That’s exactly what I have.
I haven’t installed the booster yet, and after your input I might not. That being said, when handling the throttle, I hold the grip with three fingers off (I have handle protectors) and use only my pointer and middle. Then, I think small movements to adjust the throttle in first and of course practice. I spend about an hour a day 4 days a week doing circles in front of my house ~ the goal is full lock circles and figure 8s and weaves, all in first gear. That helps me learn the controls.
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!
What’s the difference between a Vulcan and a Vulcan S? I’m seeing so many standard Vulcans for sale in the UK but they all come with ABS (which is what I thought was the difference between the S and non S variant)
I bought my first motorcycle about 6 weeks ago. I chose the 2020 Vulcan S with ABS because of videos like this one. It is easy to ride and I feel like I will not outgrow it for a long time. I am still having problems with the throttle. It is twitchy and the bike feels fast!
Fit a power booster and it should make your riding more smooth
I have a 2015 ninja 650 wanted to change to a cruiser is it worth it considering same engine?
This is my dream bike. Actually any bike that has this kind of sitting style I'll love it. I love sport bikes but I'm more interested in these kind of bikes
Can you tune the engine like the one on the ninja? I went to check one out at the Kawasaki dealer near me, kind of. Nothing is really close out here. But anyway the sales showed me how they adjusted them for the rider. Like Shaun said the front pegs can be moved forward or backwards, the seat is just a quick swap and the handlebars are adjustable, but according to him they stay on the bike. I haven’t ridden one yet, I have to get my endorsement first. But some health issues popped up and after that done I’m hitting the road!
Would this be a good cruiser for long distance rides?
Have you compared or ran against a m109r? I would love to see that
Just got into riding . Purchasing my first bike . Started watching this channel & sparked my interest . I’m sad he doesn’t sell bikes anymore . Would make the trip to his store
The bike has three different seats, three different handlebars and three different shifter rods to suit the bike to your stature. Short, Mid and Tall. U need to purchase the appropriate parts to suit u if u buy used but if u buy new the dealer will install what fits you onto the bike. Used Vulcan s 650s usually come with the mid reach controls.
+Paul Highbaugh ok cool, great info thanks
two different shifter rods. the standard one fits for the extended pegs position.
I have the mid reach foot pegs, mid-reach handlebar, and short seat. It fits perfectly. Everything is within reach and I don't slide around on the seat as I did with the standard seat. It is configurable based on your height and girth.
Been riding for 30 years - absolutely love this bike.
I'm a short dude, so it's nice to finally have a bike that fits.
I subcribed. ....love your videos. Thanks.
Thanks for the review. I just bought a used 2018 Vulcan S with 500 miles on it.
How much u pay
@@focused4841 Traded an old bike and some cash.
Nice video and thanks for sharing the word🙏🏻
I enjoy my vulcan S very much. New rider. The adjust ability for seat, bars and pegs is available at purchase for no additional cost from Kawi. Program is called Ergo-Fit
is it faster then hyosung gv650 ? as its like 72hp
Would you say it's faster then an intruder 1400?
I'd love to know the next time you guys get one of these Vulcan S's in...it's the bike I want to be my first. I'm looking to buy my first motorcycle for commuting to work.... definitely keeping my eye open on ur site and UA-cam page for any.
My Shadow is faster. I'm currently on the internet so it doesn't have to be true.
FYERFlGHTER i can blow your shadow away with my 50cc GLX... BECAUSE IT USES URANIUM AS FUEL
+FYERFlGHTER lol you make a great point
😜 I’ve taken plenty of Harley’s through the intersection with my Shadow. It’s a VT750CDC
did they know you were racing ?
FYERFlGHTER no it's not haha
dammit i want one. i love that it's adjustable - and definitely an upgrade from my 2001 Shadow
You guys are a trip! Lol'd a couple of times and wife was like what's so funny as am sitting here with ear buds on while she's watching her stories. Love riding a long with you Guy's as I can't ride do to medical but should be back in the saddle in a month or two.
Fun bikes, like the old Vulcan EN500 I used to own -- I remember chirping all the gears ;) Can cruise all day, and insane acceleration whenever you feel like it. I'm going to install an STS Brake Module on mine because the bike has crazy engine breaking (the module will flash the brake lights when I engine brake, which is ALL the time on this bike).
Oh boy we have another retrogrouch here. Yes please modify the bike. Kawasaki has no idea how to configure a bike.
Love your videos guys and the word at the start is awesome! Quick question how are you getting audio without all the wind noise through the GoPro? Thanks :)
Can you do somthin about the 650 burgman executive,?
Love the words of wisdom. Keep it up!
why dont they put z900's engine and make a Vulcan S 900? it will be awesome and we will buy it like crazy.
Hell yeah,I would definitely buy one!
I got a 2017 Café ABS for my wife last summer. She loves it!! She came off of a 01 Buell Blast. Ive got vids of both.
I'm vaguely reminded of the Kawa ZL900 - ZL1000 of the mid 80s. Still in my 'favorite motorcycles of all time' category.
Great vid, great channel. I'm trying to choose between this bike and a Honda CTX for my first and appreciate the info. That exhaust sounds suweeeet.
I just noticed that there is a key guard to protect the tank from scratches. Brilliant. I love the matte/fleck paint black model, the maroon red, and the signature Kawasaki lime green.
Would this be okay for a y’all rider,? 6’2”
Was that speedometer in mph or kph?
I am a religious man.
My religion is motorcycling. I worship daily. I confess my traffic violations, and I hope others forgive these, as I forgive those.
And deliver us from Evel Knievel........
May God forgive you your blasphemy. ✝
You could use gaiters as a rain socks ;)
We use them in winter, when we need to walk thru the thick snow and don't wear ski suit.
I could be mistaken but are you located in lancaster?
would this bike be a good beginner bike ?
Kawasaki has always put good power in their bikes.. had a 71 H1 500 MachIII and a 72 H2 750 MachIV
Good bike to use as a commute it’s not larger, heavy, but can do highway speeds perfectly. I think it’s the one of the better bikes out there for the money.
How is this bike for 6ft5s / 1m98?
Is the seat actually adjustable?
Able to ride legally in less than 2 years, is it too early to start thinking about starting bikes?
I love mine. Its fast and looks great.
Would this bike be a good choice for an older guy ready to get back into riding? Just looking to cruise and commute when weather is nice😁
jamesmegill It is a great bike. I just hit 4k miles on mine too. It is a cruiser with a sport bike engine. Keep the RPMs low if you want to cruise, rev it up to 8k+ if you want some thrill.
My favorite bike at the moment
Would it look good with a 6foot rider?
I'm pretty tall 195cm do you think that it's too small bike for me.TY
The Vulcan s look awesome with bags 💯
i just put hard bags on my vulcan s abs cafe
Question 1: In the middle ergonomic position, do the footpegs scrape if rider leans into a turn?
Question 2: What is the range of this bike? My guess is 180 to 200 miles.
knzw25 I’ve owned a 2015 for three years. It depends how hard you take corners. If you really lean into the turns they scrape, but you can lean pretty far and still not scrape them. That’s my opinion, but it is the only bike I’ve ever owned so take that with a grain of salt. It is a blast to ride. Range is about 130 miles until the fuel light comes on I’d estimate.
you ever use turn signals?
turn signals??? i do not understand
on your test drives, you never use the turn signal
Standard equipment...
He uses a variety of hand signals.
I take the blinkers off all my bikes. Looks better without them.
I have a 900 Vulcan and after a year of my wife riding on the back she asked for her own . Ok I bought her that bike 650 Vulcan and she can easily beat me to the next set of lights every time . It is a fun fast bike!
Did you have to add that seat? Everyone I saw only had a seat for 1 person..
What boots are you wearing?
Amen brother. Love the words of wisdom
I hope they keep this displacement, because it means new young riders like me can afford it and insure it, insurance is something never talked about when talking about bike prices
Because bike insurance is cheap
I ride a ninja 650, I would love to see the two head to head. Same engine, different weight and tuning.
The Ninja would absolutely smoke it. It makes 10hp more and weighs nearly 100 lbs less.
Id love to se this vs vstar 650,950 or 1300
Would a windshield make highway riding more comfortable?
yes.get a baby windshield. big windshields look like police😂
bro what is yout top speed..i love this bike..im planning to buy....
I had this bike 2 years ago, and went through like 8 bikes. Regret for selling it, and I just actually bought one back lol. This bike is fast low and mid range, I know sport bike is fast but more for higher range. Def can run around with this I've gone up to 110 lol.
The best 650cc cruiser i ever rode..Maybe need rear aftermarket led light and some ecu reflash..
That tells you a lot about cruiser bikes - the 650 parallel twin in the Kawi sport line is basically entry level with the exception of the 300/400.
So not entry level then
TBH when cruiser riders laughs about that 660cc engine, it actually makes more power and torque than Harley's 1.2L V2. Amazing.
I think it actually looks kinda fast. The Vulcan is sort of its own category.
I like your vlog as you explain things in simple terms so that a novice can also understand. What would you term as the best entry level bike? Kawasaki Vulcan 650, Suzuki M109R 650 or Honda Shadow 750?
most definitely not the m109r
Looking into a first bike for myself. I think this will be it. Looks amazing and its enough power, but not 2 much
I bought one of these for my first bike. It was really fun. But, I found out that I really enjoy the longer rides in the mountains as well as commuting. Ended up trading it in for a heritage classic 114. Enjoy the Harley so much more.
Faster than my third gen honda magna?? Cuz those were pretty quick.
Great content!
I daily one, its my first bike and i dont see a need for another bike. BTW the seat doesnt adjust, they fit the peg length, pick a seat, and change the handlebars at the dealer. I have the 2015 vs se abs model.(Green) keep up the good work!
Can ride this one at the mountains?
Very nice to hear the prayer before the bike ride
