" Brad your honesty is admirable but soul-crushing "
I do believe Jolt Cola from the late 80's would bring out the zinginess fully.

someone get claire a 3d printer so she can make her own molds, tensils, and cutters!!!!
Tensils

and a CAD designer...
STAT!
And unique drying racks
I love how much Claire loves the junk food she tries to replicate.I love the feedback and camaraderie with the test kitchen coworkers.
I love that the failures are just steps toward getting things right.
I love this series!
Yeah! They obviously have so much skill, experience and access to high-quality food, but aren't snobby about it at all. Love it

I couldn’t have said it better myself, this series gives a perfect example of the scientific method; hypothesize, test, when something goes wrong, change a few things to try and improve it
junk food lets call it snacks
Freya Guppy That’s such a good point. It’d be great to show one of these videos to a science class learning about the scientific method for the first time. Then have them analyze it for the steps of the sci. method. I wish I could’ve done that back in elementary school.
I laughed way harder than I should have watching the dehydrated squares of cheese flail around in the vitamix
Atlαѕ- Z The sudden mute just makes it all the more hilarious
It was hilarious

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
Flaming hot Cheetos are gross. It's spicy for people who don't actually like spicy food.
hot cheetos limon are the best tbh
d k not true. I am Indian and eat spicy food everyday. Although I would prefer takis I’ll eat ANY hot chips

Nah it was hilarious :D

This particular series is super interesting to me. Seriously. The entire process, challenges, trial and error, setbacks and ultimate success. Claire is awesome. 👍
I couldn't have said it better! That's why I like it too :))
CLAIRE IS BAE
YES, SHE IS!
I like this series as much as It's Alive
Right? Totally geeking out with Claire on this series - and I love that no challenge phases her!

Claire has helped me so much by giving me more confidence about my grey hair. I was so insecure about it before. She rocks it and is absolutely beautiful. Thank you, Claire ♥️
So much love on this channel
Umm Talha same I started getting s grey streak in high school and now I love it
Awww im so happy ❤️
It shows how wise you are, as long as you are happy with yourself ❤️

I like how Brad is always very honest. And doesn't mind telling you that it sucks at the beginning. But at the end, always says that you did a good job.
"Nothing much is happening. I might go Vita Mix it's like a much more powerful motor"
*cuts to dehydrated cheese flaccidly blending in vitamix*
one of the best parts
lmao
Just kinda... Floppin around
I thought it was strange that she tried to dehydrate slices of cheese rather than grated cheese. It would have dried so much faster, and been easier to powder afterwards.
Idk why but this episode struck me as really funny. Especially with the shapes of the attempted Cheetos (for the first trial batches) and the dehydrated cheese bouncing around happily in the blender. I'm eating while watching this and I've already choked on my food twice from snickering.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Dying
This is the first time I've watched an episode of this series... the Cheetos brought me here... but I am planning on watching this tomorrow with my 13-year-old son because if this isn't a perfect example of perseverance, I don't know what is. This chef has the exact determination, grit, and stick-to-it-iveness that we teachers want to instill in our students, and we parents want to see in our kids and if it takes a video of an obviously talented and knowledgable gourmet chef making multiple attempts to replicate the delicate wonder that is a Cheeto, I'm more than happy to bust open a bag and spend 16 minutes cozied up on the couch with my son and laptop. Thanks for a wonderful addition to the UA-cam blackhole!
just watch the vid sis it aint deep
idk i think she just wanted to make homemade cheetos
I 100% agree. Ignore the sullen children who can’t see the lesson ❤️. I’m grateful that teachers like you, and chefs like her, exist.
Welcome
Glad you could do that :)

In Brazil we only have the Cheetos puffs. I’ve never seen the small crunchy Cheetos being sold in Brazil.
Same in Peru but we have something called Cheese Tris, very similar
exactly!! I was so surprised when I saw the crunchy more thin ones
acho tbm q só tem 3 sabores de cheetos no Brasil, sendo os três variações de queijo. It's kinda sad
In India that’s the same
WHEN i USeD tU LiVe IN USA there was EVeRThing

Yeah, but the requeijão one is kinda the same as the crunchy ones but the flavour of the requeijão is much better and impossible to find around here.

I will never ever make any of these diy snack foods (most of which would require a large loan & a full kitchen remodel), but Claire is a damn genius & this series is fantastic
I love how she shows me the color of the Flaming Hot Cheetos like I'm not unhealthily familiar with them.
Emilio Fahr 😂😂 Same
It's because some of us have never seen them before lmao. Cheetos aren't really made in the UK so we don't have them, and I've never seen a flaming hot cheeto IRL. Just on buzzfeed videos haha.

Is it just me or have u just been binge watching these too😂👌
Just_ jolee yep
I enjoy that she usually seems to like the original junk food. I’ve seen videos like these where the chief can seem overly snobby and that can get irritating.
have you seen the twinkies one? lmao she threw a whole pile of them away

I love how Claire is never quite looking where her head is pointing. Like, her head just kinda wanders and it's adorable.
watching this makes me feel nostalgic for times when claire still had hope and will for this series
You can't make Cheeto's better. They are the height of sophistication. Might I suggest pairing it with a delicious 2018 Mountain Dew?
Sovash Chetty the 2017 limited edition has a more exquisite
flavor
Sovash Chetty only if it is a code red
a 1999 Surge is the only acceptable carbonated beverage for my bourgeois taste buds
John Doe you have a very mature palette, sir. Great choice.
While that will complement such a Cheeto, it truly makes the Flaming Hot Cheetos come alive. The oppressive sweetness of the Code Red is cut and thus accentuated by the heat of the Cheeto.
I love when Claire reads all these unhealthy ingredients but then it says it’s gluten free
Because it is. Gluten free doesn't mean healthy at all.
@@AC-iw5mv I know but I just thought it was funny.
Whey protein is gluten.
😂😂😂😂
It's good if you're a celiac.
The ferrous sulfate, niacin, riboflavin, thiamine and folic acid are there because of the flour being used. Flour needs to be enriched with those nutrients. There are actually laws about that. So the list of ingredients is now much shorter.
The lactic acid and citric acid are there to preserve the food.
Thank you for this. There's a comment on here from +Despicable Pumpkin (with almost a thousand upvotes) calling out the "unhealthy ingredients." It's a shame.
I live in Germany and there is nothing in our flour.. so I really don't think it's necessary to enrich the flour with anything
@@lindski11 It's because of the difference in diets. I'm Australian and flour used for bread here has to have folate and thiamin added. I have coeliac disease and have to use unenriched flours like rice and potato. After I was diagnosed I almost immediately became folate deficient. It's actually something they warn you about when you have to stop eating bread.
It’s because some countries grind their flour so finely that all the nutrients disappear. Those nutrients exist naturally in flour, but fine, white flour is so processed that it has basically lost all nutritional value, and that’s why they have to add it in afterwards in order for it to even count as a food. If German flour don’t contain additives, it’s because their processing methods are able to keep what’s already in there naturally, and it’s not necessary to add anything. It’s a very sad, capitalistic phenomenon that started sometime after the second world war, if I remember correctly. Solution: Use more coarsly ground white flour, or wholemeal flour. Not sure if organic would also do the trick, might be worth researching
Oh what an interesting thread of comments, very educational :)
You know she’s stressed out; when she has a bottle of wild turkey on her desk
claire is the bravest, most patient human ever
k no
After all those ingredients...”oh it’s gluten free!” 🤣
I wish I had the perseverance Claire has when trying to copy cat these foods. From all the trial and error she’ll be one of the most revered chefs around.
You should try making Gourmet Doritos
Well you got your wish.
She did😂
And it was hell
Nachos is gourmet doritos
I am all about the streak of grey in Claire's hair 😍

Me: *sees episode is only 16 minutes long”
This either went amazingly well or terribly bad and Claire ragequit...
Having worked at the factory, I can assure that Cheetos are NOT fried.
They use a process similar to frying, which is called extrusion. After the pastry gets cut into shape, it goes in a conveyor belt, inside the extruder. This machine sprays hot oil on the pastry for a certain amount of time. There is no flavours added so far.
Then, when it cools down a little bit, on another conveyor belt, it is dropped into a drum with the flavouring and colouring. This drum works like a tumble dryer and the thing stays tumbling there for a few seconds and go to another conveyor belt, to be taken to the packaging area.

Gourmet pop tarts?
They're classic but so artificial tasting and awful. I bet you would make them fabulous, Claire!
Agree! Poptarts next!
As i was scrolling and i seen this comment, a pop tart was mid-way to my mouth. How convenient.
I only like the chocolate ones
Three Star Productions yes!! That’d be so cool!
As awesome as that would be, Claire has left Bon Appetit :'(
For some reason I cackled loudly when the dehydrated cheese squares were bouncing around in the Vitamix 😂😂😂
Claire, please never stop doing your videos. They are so much fun and make me sooooo happy.
Do gourmet Girl Scout cookies!

Yas!!
Well, that's just boring, regular cookies but jazzed up a notch? There's not much to figure out and to spend time on researching
I was thinking more of Thin mints or Tagalongs, but I get you.
Girl Scout cookies are already the height of deliciousness! How can you improve on that?
I have never seen somebody handle a cheeto so gently and with such passion
I just love it how she lowkey discourages everyone to do it. Ahahahahahaha
Claire’s critical thinking is fun to watch because she’ll ask her Team for their honest critique, then she’s back to the lab to bounce their critique off her own deductions and before you know it she’ll figure it out.👩🏻🍳👏🏾👏🏼👏👏🏻👏🏽👏🏿

Claire is just lovely she makes this series such a great thing to watch!
PLEASE MAKE GOURMET GOLDFISH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CLAIRE
I feel like I'm going to get crushed by so much hate, but, personally, I think goldfish aren't that good. They're too salty and overwhelmingly cheesy. I feel like they're meant to just satisfy a child's palette.

You can actually see how she started to lose it. It ok, claire, you always do great
Yes Claire have that extra drink of wine at dinner
honestly that unstable look in her eye by the third day is unmatched
it can be really frustrating and discouraging when everything you attempt fails and you don't know what to do. but she always comes up with ideas which is the hallmark of a successful creative person.
Claire must have had a healthy childhood because every time I see one of these videos it’s like she’s trying junk food for the first time.

NATA5 seriouslyyyyyy
gourmet pop tarts. i hate them but i feel like you would do amazing claire!
Seems too easy for this show. I've made them before. Just puff pastry, any type of jam or jelly and then some kind of glaze or icing. It would be a pretty short video.
Lauren Smith It was actually 34 minutes
@@christmasannabelle9710 ha yeah I watched it. I've always thought it was lame that people requested that but it was really cool to see Claire excel and breeze through a Gourmet Makes episode like that. That and she made it home-baker friendly. I plan on making them from her recipe soon.

Emin Gani I first thought it was, and was like "wow this is a really good channel for buzzfeed" then realized it isn't buzzfeed

I don’t get why cooking isn’t generally recognised as a talent, I’d have no idea where to start with this, she always does an amazing job and shows perseverance!
Ruby Farooqi who doesn’t consider it a talent? I think nowadays it’s more respected than ever
You know she went to school for like a very long time for this, though, right?
I have huge respect for bakers. Like, in stove top cooking you can fix problems as they happen. Taste it, oh it needs more garlic then add the garlic. Baking is a science, if you mess up that structure or ingredients even a little you have to throw the whole thing away and start again
its not just talent tho....its specialized knowledge she has acquired through hard work and she's very good at creative problem solving and critical thinking because of that knowledge AND talent.
I don't know where they found Claire, but she is such a sweetheart! She's so awesome! Someone give this one a raise!
Such great videos, absolutely hilarious and educational!

Funny. In Spain 'normal' Cheetos are the Puffs ones (styrofoam shape) but smaller
yeah i think it might be in most of europe?? these cheetos look very off brand to me
Yeah! Here too. I think it's just European then. They also smell absolutely nuclear.
Thats the kind of Cheetos I grew up with. And never feel so betrayed when i had the skinny and crunchy ones.
Claire should try Doritos since she was able to make her own cheese powder.
The thing about doritos is when the cheese powder is removed from the chip you realize its a cheese flavored chip covered in more cheese.
Miikachu- Yeah, right. But I would love to see her take on doritos.
she left my dude
I'd love to try making these but who the hell owns a dehydrator?!
AmericaninAustralia I do lol. I use it to make potato chips... and fruit/other veggie chips.
AmericaninAustralia mine isn’t huge though lol
Chelsea Ozanic something funny. Literally a few days after i posted this, my mom gets a dehydrator. 😂😂😂
I do. Want it for $100?
AmericaninAustralia I have one. But I do a lot of cooking and baking. Although mine isn’t that huge it only cost ~75 dollars.
I feel like the more I watch these fascinating videos, the more fascinating I find Claire.
I watched just to see how would you extrude the masa! This kind of puffed corn snack is extruded under a lot of steam heat and pressure. When the dough leaves the extruder, the compressed steam inside the masa expands under atmospheric pressure and puffs the dough making it airy and light. This is the secret. Of course you can't do it without an specialized machine.
Cheeto should give her a factory tour after all that.
All the attemp of GM should
I can’t stop laughing at dehydrated cheese dancing in the blender 😂😂😂😂
CLAIRE MAKES GOURMET KRISPY KREME PLS!!! SHE GOTTA TEACH US HOW TO MAKE THE ORIGINAL GLAZE FLUFFY DONUT!

Brad's got kids
Yeah I have a dehydrator lying around somewhere
Double Battery its called an oven.
Chuck it in the dryer
She made it complicated lol pop a cheese slice in the microwave for 1 min and you have a crispy cheese chip

johnny cake no a dehydrator is completely different my dad uses it for beef jerky a oven would just cook it when a dehydrator makes it dry out
