A big shoutout to David Odell for sending me the giveaway. Received it from UPS and it felt like Christmas in September. Thank you. Always enjoy your videos and the information you provide.
Happy holidays!
Right on Tom

Great work Odell. You and Larry Haun are among the greatest teachers in your trade. Appreciate all the educational videos you provide for us beginners.
Great

Dave, I read the comments and couldn’t agree more. Sharing knowledge to others is one of the greatest gifts we can give each other.
I concur

You just garnered more of my respect Mr Odell, most you tubers probably wouldn’t even let a fan on sight, but you did and hired him. Respect! Love your videos and can’t wait until you get back to AZ.
Thanks for watching Cris :)
Avery’s a natural, the camera loves him! Give a prize to the person who decided to put Avery on.
Right! Though next time, he should go on camera with his sunglasses off! Being able to see someone's eyes adds on credibility!
I concur
Really like the “O’Dell” on the bottom corner of the vid! Very subtle and professional looking!
Thanks !
You are a Legend.. helping those guys learn the trade.. 100 percent respect to ya 👍👍👍👍👍
thanks Tony!
It's great you hired him. I learned a lot just those few minutes of you showing him the tricks. Good Luck Avery and thank you Mr. Odell.
Glad you enjoyed it
It amazes me how much knowledge and experience is necessary to do good concrete work. I love watching the skill of you and your crews creating beautiful concrete work. No wonder you attract people who want to learn and become a part of the process. They know you are the best teacher.
Wow, thank you
That was nice of you, to train that new guy. You do great work, I always learn something new from your channel. Actually, my brother had a driveway put in, and all they used was thin wire fence instead of rebar. I had to look back at the pictures today and I realized they really did a lousy job on my brothers driveway. The only way I knew that, was by watching your channel. Thanks again.
New guy is Avery.
I appreciate that
Dave, you guys do incredible work. Good of you to share your knowledge with Avery like you have. I dig your hat too!
Much appreciated!
David, your winning because you have 3 things where most businesses keep one for themselves and that makes it very difficult to match by anyone! 1. Price - Reasonable price because your labor efficient, generations experienced, and supply chain managed. 2. Quality - You have a consistent quality process and product that you continually improve. 3. Speed - you bid, schedule, and get it done. No messing around. So there is the secret formula, price, quality and speed. Many business survive and thrive on just two! You have provided your very fortunate customers with all 3!!! You probably get allot of referral business and very deservedly so!!!! Your videos are awesome just like your business. Price -free to us, Quality - people enjoy watching excellence with a calm and confident attitude, Speed - you post fast! Thank you so much!!!
I always wished I could find a businesses with my philosophy, You know its very hard to find.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Yes sir! I'm wishing now! Its like that extremely rare restaurant where the food is perfect, priced fair, and no wait in SoCal!lol
That's a big job! Now i know how to use the edger. One day i will go to a job site.
get it on
Pretty cool of you to give guys a chance that are interested in the trade.

That's great you hired him.

Hey Donny! - Greetings from Berkshire UK, originally from Thanet in Kent UK. Hope you Tuckers are keeping healthy! 👍🇬🇧
@@philtucker1224 Thanks Phil! I've been reading the book " The
Descendants of
William Tucker
of Throwleigh, Devon" to see if my ancestors came from england. There's a few tucker branches. A lot from Georgia as well. Take care fellow tucker!
@@donnytucker Cheers for that Donny! (All interesting stuff as my direct ancestors, originally trawler fishermen, moved up from Devon to Kent in 1835 to take up farming, so maybe a lot of the Tucker branches started down there in the West Country back in the 1600s during Williams time……
Best regards and stay safe 👍
Lovely finish on the driveway David, looking forward to part 3!
Thanks 👍
I really enjoyed the edging demonstration with Avery. I learned a lot there that I had not been aware of. I've been in construction all my life and i am retired now but still working hard on my own home improvements. We can never stop learning thanks to people like you that put in the effort to share to others.

"Power Trowel"...you answered the question. Thank you!
You bet!
Literally just finished part 1!
It’s amazing how entertaining your videos are.
Glad you enjoy it!
I like how respectful Avery was. Glad to know that you hired him as a hand and I hope he does well and sticks around with you. Every journeyman needs a good apprentice.

Bought a fixer upper home and am doing sidewalks, patios, double driveway, small pool, concrete tiki bar, hammock pergola, and utility shed with 16 x 12 concrete block bedroom addition and 2 concrete fountains. Have a new 6 cu/ft mixer, vibrator and plenty of tools with top shelf videos from David Odell. What more do i need besides the 34 cu/yds of 3/4 stone and sand they dumped in the middle of my back yard. Of course i ordered the MANDATORY Odell Concrete hat / shirt ensemble with my first 20 lb order of Dave's famous fiber additive :) Thanks Dave and wish me luck!
Hi
I just sent your order out today.
Thank you for your support.
GL
I too went on my first concrete job site about two weeks ago. It was for a driveway addition in Los Angeles and let me tell you, it's not easy. I helped tie off the rebar and it was tough being hunched over in the summer heat. The sun really does a number on you. The other thing I helped with the troweling and edging. Again you need that special touch to get everything nice which I didn't have. Make sure to wear ear protection because the pumping machine is annoyingly loud. Great episode.
Yes it is.
TY
Odell making it look easy, another great video. thank you for taking the time to do these videos.
My pleasure!
Great work Mr Odell, you have lots of great help on those pours.
Thank you!
I really enjoy your videos, no better advertisement than seeing you work and the finished product
Wow, thank you!
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Aw that worked out really well for you and Avery, he was honest . . .wanted to learn and within a few minutes of your advice you could see the improvement
It takes balls to plan an execute every concrete job. You have to like what you do.
Its a tough relentless business
I both batch and drive a concrete truck. Also have previous experience as a laborer. It takes a special person to do this type of work. It sad no one wants to pick up the trade. You are a legend. Love the videos
I get why you're not huge on UA-cam since its not for everyone so I appreciate this extra labor you take in filming and editing and narrating for the rest of us who look forward to your videos.

Прекрасная работа Дэйв, команда у Вас отличная👍
Can't believe I am watching this, I am female, but enjoy construction of any type. My dad had 5 girls, I was his favorite (😀) I would assist him in anything and everything, including handing him tools in doing mechanic work. I watched Part 1, will have to go back comment on. Just watched part 2, look forward to part 3. I hope it's uploaded soon. I just subscribed to your channel. The way you explained in detail with your smooth voice, made it more interesting. You're a good boss to let someone assist you with a job, so he could learn the trade, then to hire him as an employee. Stay safe.
Thanks for joining in.
Part three is coming soon
@@OdellCompleteConcreteThanks for taking the time in replying back to my comment! I, know, you're a busy man, and all, it meant a lot to me. Will be waiting for part 3, can't wait!
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Going to binge watch your videos this week-end. Can't wait! God Bless!
That's really cool you gave the visitor some work and tips on edging. Like he said, you got to get your hands dirty to learn.
You got that right!

The ODB of concrete yes Sir ……………… keep up the great work boys……
Thanks! Will do!
Looking good as ever. Love your content!
thank you!
Interesting, where I am most new driveways are 6" thick with mesh and wire, must be due to the climate? Great work as always!
I can only imagine you live in a very sandy or swampy region. Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking?
@@tashtant colder area
More resistant to ice, salt, and frost heave. In CA you can make it 4-5" thick unless it's the lower part that gets the heavy abuse provided you've got adequate base below it.
Could be
@@matthewhall5571 Did you just throw out a bunch of bs thinking that no one from actual cold climate wouldn't know any better to the crap you wrote?

Love the videos wonder if there is a attachment to the motorized spin for brushing. Would be kinda cool if in the plastic form there was a wire and then make it run like a roomba and automatic run around and move it around
That would be cool
Good job.
Thank you! Cheers!

Beautiful work - big fan from Dublin, Ireland. I don't suppose you the species of trees running along the edge of the property?
They’re called Italian cypresses
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Oh thank you!
INTERESANTE TRABAJO. 🇨🇴🇨🇴👍
thank you
Need to try Kraft tools 3 foot green skinny broom. It leaves a horse hair Finnish while also leaving a really consistent finnish
Sounds good
I said hey, gimme some of those logs. Im gonna use them😂
They worked out well
If i had my own way my whole back yard would be concrete slab, i'd end up in that concrete slab though with my missus 🤣
Sounds like fun
Victorville. Woo hoo. Now you gotta come up here. Lol
Im on my way
Odell Complete Concrete sweet.
Here its 4 inch 3500psi, rebar 16 inch Centers. One thing we like to do is arc the corners. Can’t cut the grass in the 90’s. So we soften them so its easy to run the mower. Nobody walks and turns on a 90. They all cut the corner. Need to get us one of those funny floats. We have a 36. That small one would be sweet for finish
You can cut on the 90’s with a string trimmer
For sure
I use an old mop and used motor oil to "paint" my 12 foot trailer's deck boards. Those boards will last forever, will never rot, and bugs don't eat the wood.
Great idea
Ues man i been waiting on this video bro.almost forgot about it.damn good job as usual.
Appreciate it
Dave, just trying to learn something from these videos. I love the content and production style BTW. When you say, @6:33 " Since were tailgating it I can put it down at any slump I want" What does that mean? I am assuming that if you are pumping it there is a certain slump that is needed otherwise it would clog the pump? Thanks for putting it out there for us!!
Yes correct.
Hi David, did you maybe grade the concrete to drain over towards the Cyprus trees to irrigate them? What’s your normal practice to keep them alive?
Yes I did
Dang Victorville small world Im out in Hesperia a neighboring town.
Right on
Hi David, again great work! With the 90-105 degree days here in SCV. What formula in the mix do you suggest 3k psi/6.5 sack, water, pea gravel, anything else special? Fiber mesh added on site .5lb per yard. Pour begins around 8am while still cool out. Thank you for all the encouragement!
You may want to get down to 2500 mix. Curing compound
Nice work again. Since I can't hire you up in Northern CA, in a future video could you drop in a few tips on what to look for when getting bids for a project like this? How do we find the Odell of our area?
Check out prior work
I’ve watched nearly all of your videos and I really want to extend my driveway with a 30X10 slab. I’m confident after watching your videos that me and two of my buddies can do it. What would be your advice for us and do you think I can pull it off?
Yes you can do it, with good planning
Great videos! I've been watching in preparation for a new driveway that I've needed. Unfortunately I don't live in your area. From what I've heard, from the concrete co. and online, you should wait 7 days before driving on a new driveway. However does waiting longer make a difference? I can not drive on my new driveway for at least a couple weeks, maybe longer. I'd gladly do that if that is a better way to go..
7 days should be good
@@OdellCompleteConcrete sounds good, thanks!
FINALLY
Get it on
Perfeito, great!!!
TY
Some people say the diesel and oil as a release agent damages the concrete. Assuming you’ve had no issues with this?
No problem
Mr.Odell are you in the future will make any videos on how to bid for jobs.
materials and labor times two
Thanks sir.real admire your work ethic and your experience make everything looks so easy👍🙏
Watching your videos....I have determined that I know nothing about pouring and working concrete....in all the videos that I've watched, this is the first time I've seen you use the "floater". What is the purpose of that tool? Why would you use it as opposed to not using it? Does it have something to do with the thickness of the pour?
The area was bigger, and had less concrete finishers.
Super.
TY
Nice bro. Where in the US are you guys. Tell me who will you vote for this time ?
I'm in California.
I'm undecided
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Cool bro looks hot like the politics
What was the plan to keep the roots of the Cyprus trees irrigated?
sprinkler system
Hi do you ever use cc or polar set or hot water in winter time?
Yes I use polar set
Concrete work is not working at A fast food place , it takes practice and learning from other professionals to give the best finished product
I concur
Did the city require a higher PSI on the driveway approach?
No, but I like to go over and above
