I've always said: "If you are busy with your own work you don't have time to worry about other people are doing." EVS is worried about destroying others so he can be the only one instead of focusing on his own work and getting it done.
I gave up on EVS when I saw he was spending more time streaming than actually working on the projects I spent money on.
I bought a copy of cyberfrog for my brother because I thought he'd like the artwork and the character. My brother is immature for his age, my parents babies him way too much, I guess because he's the youngest. Anyway, my brother was 17 at the time and we got word that he was going blind. I figured the comic would show up in reasonable time while my brother can still see. It took almost 2 years. By the time the book showed up my brother's optic nerve was so damaged it wasn't worth looking at the book. After another year another copy came in the mail, why ???
I stopped paying attention to the guy before the books arrived,, when he lied about Mike S. Miller tormenting his special needs son. Mike uploaded the full video that gave the full context, revealing Ethan purposely lied and showed a video HE edited to make Mike look bad.
Ethan is a snake.

Some of them are annoying personalities, like Tom.
Some are boring one-notes, like Quartering and G&G.

Or they're combinations of those categories. Easy targets.
Basically, EVS tried to invent himself as something different than a crowd of dweebs, bores, grifters, and jerks by becoming a grifting super-jerk bore.
That worked for a little while, but him simply pot-shotting his enemies makes his channel only appeal to one person...himself, just like Ya Boi Zack.
I think, in the end, it will be the JDA's and the Sidescrollers who prevail, with their consistent, level-headed approaches.

With all the hours EVS has spent trash casting he could have finished drawing all his books by now!
That’s what annoyed me, he would spend 5 or 6 hours streaming, and he has a comic 3 years late.
Early on in the culture war, I was a big supporter of EVS (just coming out of his work on Green Lantern), but it didn't take long for him to show is true colors, plus his projects -- as with Richard's -- were overhyped, underwhelming and frustratingly late. I just stopped caring and moved on.
Overpriced also.
Biggest mistake creators make is not fulfilling in good time. That's why its a lot smarter to have the book almost to totally complete before you run a KS or IGG campaign- and this is where Eric July shines compares to YBZ and EVS, his shit is done at launch. That gives you that professional vibe like the big 2 do, I get that the investment is steep to run things that way but damn does it impress the customer on fulfillment.
EVS is a great artist and have enjoyed his stuff since the HoH days but this recent constant attacking of others makes me think he's jealous of others success rather than honest reviews of the material. He went from celebrating more people embracing the indy comic way to thinking he was the king of it all to now just becoming another guy with cool ideas in development hell in perpetuity. Its sad to see him become the thing he was against so long ago. Him and Zack both seem to have fallen into that trap...

You can’t keep an audience by releasing 1 comic every 3 years, that’s why I moved away from crowdfunding, it’s far far too slow. At the very least they should be releasing 1 comic every 6 months.

Ethan going after Eric seemed to just come out of nowhere and I never understood how it started.
I think it started when Dick Masterson put down Eric's Isom book. Eric really didn't like that, and he also didn't like Ethan telling him that Dick had some valid criticisms. Then, Eric sent Ethan the night letter saying that he didn't appreciate Ethan not defending him and for Ethan to get his sh*t together. Ethan got upset about receiving the night letter, and that's what began his beef with Eric July.

i love EVS as both an artist and a figure in this movement but yeah bro turns on everyone. its gotten exhausting watch him constantly pick fights with people he should be on the same side with. I stopped back in his projects, because whenever I would check on a live stream, he was never working on his books. He was just talking shit on other comic artists, some of whom get their project set on time.
I called this a while ago, I tweeted to him as a fan but it went on deaf ears. As a fan of comics and supporting the 2 of them I felt it was becoming way too much, like an obsession and it was annoying. I even mentioned that Shane is out putting quicker than EVS atm. It's easier money I guess to do superchats for hours complaining about one guy than logging off and do the job people have already paid for.
Eric July's work ethic and success is inspiring, it should be studied and improved upon.

Agreed man. Rippaverse isn't perfect but they have a lot of things right and on the up and up IMO. And one of the big ones is timelines and fulfillment. Eric helped build that day one from ground up and then has continued to work on streamlining and improving that with each new offering. Its an impressive operation overall built on big plans and hard work.
Its still crazy being punctual on your own shipment schedule is considered "grifting and scam" by this type of people
Except, Eric is doing minimal work and hired artists and writers to do everything for him. He's just sitting back collecting the money.

I like Ethan as an artist but not anymore as a UA-camr. He had some valid criticisms towards Isom but the constant trashing of Rippa is insane.
He had ample opportunity to release Cyberfrog. He constantly tries to belittle anyone that he thinks he can get to kiss the ring.
I knew his # of followers would begin fall off the longer he trashed Rippa, FNT and G+G.
My main issue with Ethan is that he makes comics that I have ZERO interest in. I like traditional capes and cowls superhero stuff. I'm not interested in violent "The Boys" or "The Authority" crap. I don't care about cybernetic toads or frogs or salamanders or geckos. I don't like cowboy westerns or Call of Cthulu and other horror things. The fantasy book about Rainbow Brute sounded interesting, but did he ever even finish that? I never heard anything...maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.

Don't forget the story of that Clint guy from what use to be "Sweetcast". To this day I don't know what he supposedly did wrong but Ethan canceled him lighting fast.

(He made a good point in a video about Lucas becoming atheistic, but he always was if we are honest. I wish the Bounding guy would stop praising Lucas and the prequels. He is blinded by being a fan. Actually, Abrams and Terrio (and debatably Johnson) shifted Star Wars more toward Christianity.)

I won’t be buying any more comics from him, I’m one of those lost backers. I got Rekd Planet about 2 months ago and still haven’t read it, no interest in it. He still owes me a Reignbow the Brute comic, I got the top package on that for $250.

If Ethan would spend as much time creating comics as he live streams, he could have what July has. And with all he has collected from campaigns, he could've paid some big names to produce the books, and had them fulfilled already. I quit watching his channel because of his obsession with July. I get it, July isn't talented. But so what... He's trying and he has fans who like what he does. EVS just can't get over the fact someone with less talent is making more money than him.
EVS's peak is when he confronted Mark Brooks and Mark pretty much challenged him to a fight if he ever saw him. I was watching the stream and it was wild, but ever since.then it seems like Ethan lost the plot. When I saw Ethan going after his own people i thought it was like in a joking manner, like how you give your friends a hard time, but it kept getting increasingly hostile and i was like what is going on?

My only problem with the rippaverse is that sometimes colorists change and there is sometimes a spread out team of creatives. I really like things being streamlined with little variation to gives each series an identity. The best book is Alpha Core because all of that was nailed down perfectly, story art and colors, have a unique identity.
I kind of thought Isom sucked as a story. I have no beef with Eric July. The artwork was decent but the writing left a lot to be desired.

Yaira is by far the best one. It has the most solid writing, it has the best fight scenes and the most complete story. Alphacore and Isom both are just set up after set up. While Yaira manages to be self contained enough to be a full story, and open ended enough to have potential for sequels.

Well it's true that Zach has taken a big hit, I think a lot of his loss is from the toxic base that he shared with EVS. Moreover Zach is actually making progress on his promised books. I think he will pick up after he finishes differentiating himself from EVS.
I think that this comic book Renaissance is hitting an awkward phase on its development. I think we're passing the point of diminishing returns when it comes to cultural criticism. Now it's going to be up to producers like you, 4th age, Eric July, Zack and company to actually produce something of cultural value.

Eventually if you keep attacking Eric July day in and day out in live streams people (and the trolls) are going to get bored and you'll start losing views and subscribers. EVS is just a jealous angry man because Eric is making him look bad releasing his comics in a timely manner. Whether you like the Rippaverse or not he's delivering the goods to his customers.

I don't get what happened to him and YaBoiZack. People who are buying the books from other creators out there would most likely buy their books too, if they actually finished them. All this in-fighting is just stupid. If they're tired of the culture war, fine, don't fight it anymore, but don't bring down the people who are still trying to push back against wokeness and just restore some normalcy. The odds are already hard enough. I hardly ever unsubscribe from anyone, but there's just no point following them anymore if it's just this pettiness in every video now.
Ethan's reviews of comics are completely disingenuous. If he likes you, he says your work is excellent. If he doesn't like you, he says it's awful. He tries to use his review of Dino King as proof that this isn't true; however, he didn't have any issues with Liam when he made the review.
Ethan's ego got in the way of accomplishing what RIPPA did. Books on time, great products, fun community, legendary collaborators, a general plan and well thought out execution. Also, he didn't inspire and claim to be a leader of some wacked out cult like War Campaign... Caesar fell because he claimed to be just him and was nowhere close. You lost EVS, nobody cares for your overpriced and overly late drivel anymore. Now you even have people who are fine with Ya Boi Zack's dwindling subscriber numbers LOL it's all gone to pot. Good I say, let THAT CG discontinue. Never needed a label anyway and that's what Eric July is doing. Sooo many creators and projects that I never needed to know about came from that movement... Seriously, high school never ends for some of those losers.

I was a late backer in Wrecked Planet... I also bought that stupid action figure... I finally got the stuff around April of this year... I just threw them in the dumpster without even breaking the shipping boxes...
Yes... I STILL maintain that Ethan Stole 140 Dollars from me despite "Technically" full filling my order... I never opened the packages which mean I never accepted them... If insurance companies can do that then I can too...
That isn't how that works dude. Also, that is just stupid. I agree with a lot you are saying but think you are giving Doug Teneple. too much leeway. He was a snake and grifter that turned his back on and crapped on CG as soon as he got a crumb of success. And he convinced Miller to leave, not Ethan booting him. Just because Doug is a good Christian doesn't mean he isn't also scum.

I'm not sure which company he got to do the action figures, but some people have pointed out that those action figures were not the best quality.

The biggest red flag was when Ethan kept trying to imply that he owned "comicsgate." Like it was a company, or a nation, and he was the head of state. He never claimed (to my knowledge) that he outright owned the trademark or the copyright, but he acted like he was the creator and arbiter of the term and the very notion of it.
And what do you know, it died like a fart in the wind. Great idea ruined by ego. It's almost like people follow patterns and habits... crazy how that works.

I haven’t heard from Vox in years, I used to always listen to his podcast, but then it stopped uploading it onto apples platform so I never heard from him again.
Great video. This kind of situation makes me a little sad because I want to share my comic book with people, but I'm wary of being used by creators like Ethan. But I'm hopeful with your last statement about comics and making them great again.
I noticed EVS from a long time ago as someone that had a ego problem. Stopped listening to him years back. Would like for him to see what he is doing and turn around.
So he does these seven hour trash casts instead of doing the work, he promises people. I went in on wrecked planet and was furious. By the time I received my books I will never back one of his campaigns ever again and I guarantee there are people out there, just like me who are pissed off that they gave him their money and sat around for three years while he spent all of his time on webcast talking shit and not doing a damn thing. Meanwhile, Eric July offers up his first book and ships it within What? a couple of months? Bye Ethan.

The "Birthday Party Clowns" have yet to disappoint. Some go over the top by rotating some stories over and over (respect to the grift), but the livestreams and videos are very detailed analyses for the most part and l want the nerd chats l didn't have when l was younger.
I don't think that Ethans Campaigns are failing. However, he is so late that the risk rises more and more that his audience never will get the Final Chapter of the Cyberfrog Story. Which is very tragic as these books are so well crafted. Ethan wasts his talent.
The art is nice but story wise I can't say its very interesting so far . The Idea of a group of dirty hippie survivors now that has something special about them ? I dunno sounds like goofy plot armor.

I've been out of everything comics related for some time, I'm not here to defend EVS now, looks like he completely lost it, but please don't rewrite history, Jon. The 1st time, we all went on Vox because he tried to co-opt and trademark "Comicsgate". You were there with Ethan and the gang during a stream, and I remember very well how uncomfortable you were when Ethan confronted you about your buddy Vox's behavior. This was the 1st split in the movement. Water flowed under the bridge since that time, we needed figures like EVS & Zack back then, but we realize now that they weren't reliable enough to be true leaders...
I wanted to support EVS I even enjoyed Cyberfrog, but his current PR is such a nightmare, attacking his peers is disgusting, and those books take way too long to wait for. I’m not surprised since he favors his time for petty internet blood sports rather than working on his bloody books. I’m a huge advocate for the indies but fuck comics gate!
I've been waiting SO long for the books I paid for from EVS. One of them I never got. Still waiting for THREE different books.
I order from Eric July, I get it within a month or two at the latest.
The last few have come faster than the first two. They are obviously ramping up production speed.

Man you do great work I’m trying to catch up. I never followed EVS but when i saw the cover he did for ISOM 2 i was going to invest in his comics, the moment he started attacking Eric i reconsidered
