For me, once I start my day of eating I will keep wanting to eat. So I try to not start my window until 1 or 2 and stop no later then 5/6p. And if I do not drink a ton of water, no matter what I eat or don’t eat I will not lose a pound! I think that’s been my toughest obstacle. I have never been a water drinker. Lol.

It's ironic that we are told not to get stressed as it drives up cortisol, yet so many keto advisers (other than Dr Maggs) make us constantly worry about eating too much protein! As diets go, Keto can get pretty stressy!! Still I am doing my best to keep going!

These are all great tips! I've been keto for almost 3 months now. When I first started, I found myself hungry more often than I do now. After you become fat adapted, it gets so easy. However, there is another reason you might still be hungry in my opinion and that is insulin resistance. As you go on with keto this gets better and the insulin comes down thus allowing you to be fuller longer. You have a great way of explaining all things keto. Greetings from Texas! ;)

Excellent video, thanks for posting. Especially at the beginning of carb dodging I found it helpful to check both blood glucose and blood ketone levels. I use a blood ketone meter. It's a bit pricy to do this constantly, I check only now and then. I often check during fasts of more than 24 hours duration, It's just a bit of encouragement that things are working. I can verify that for me when I'm in ketosis I don't get very hungry, that's really nice.

You can't exercise your way out of a bad diet.
As you say eat a Keto diet and up your fats and protein if you become hungry. Also I have found organic pumpkin seeds very satisfying. Also a freshly squeezed lemon with grated rind, lime, orange, cinnamon, turmeric and ginger with small tsp of raw organic honey drink very filling mid morning. Avocados and macadamia nuts are also game changers. Some times instead of one pork chop I eat two including the fat. Eggs and oily dish are a must plus lots of green veg and salad. The weight will fall off before you have even got down to do your first push up.

Butter is great but these vegetable oils are very inflammatory. I thought our appetite decreased because our bodies were getting real nutrition for a change. (Our body grumbles at us in the attempt to get said nutrition) I try not to eat fat except what’s on the protein source or the small amount of olive oil to cook in. I fast regularly 16 hrs but then don’t eat unless I’m hungry. (not paying attention to the “eating window”) Truth about exercise!! The times I did longer fasts was because I was asleep!! 😝 (I work nights) True hunger is very obvious. Thank you Dr Maggs!!

I believe you've given me a clue that I needed and that is I need more protein. To the extent that I can know, I think I am in ketosis due to the fact that I gave up simple carbs at the beginning of February and have developed a new diet based on eggs, meat, complex carbohydrates in abundance, fatty fish such as salmon and sardines, and high-fat dairy products such as heavy cream, sour cream, and kefir. It's not so much that I feel hunger, it's that I look forward to eating now far more than I ever have in the past. Having said all this, though, I may be consuming the complex carbs at too high a level and may need to increase the meat and/or egg ratio.

I love oatmeal but it is a grain so was thrilled to find out there's a delicious Keto oatmeal with hardly any carbs. The recipe was from Joe Duff - the diet chef. I make up a big container of the dry ingredients and only add the almond milk when I'm ready to cook the "oatmeal" in the microwave (2 mins. total in a bowl - stir after 1)....I don't like cinnamon in my oatmeal so skip that and add the sweetener after it's cooked along with more almond milk (heated) and toppings.

    • @signalfire6
      @signalfire6 2 роки тому +1

Ideal body weight. The protein requirements are for lean body mass only but the calorie requirements drop as you lose weight, because you're not carrying around all the weight anymore. For every 10 lbs you lose, that's a bowling ball you're not carrying around anymore, your muscles don't have to work so hard just carrying you from place to place.

I know how to do keto for my body… I lost 60 lbs in 4 months last year and 100 total and felt great, but I had a death in the family, had a cheat day, and yea it was hard getting back on. That was like 5 months ago and after a car accident 3 months ago I’m finally really trying to get back into ketosis. I bought a ketomojo about a month before I cheated and it never registered above 2.7 (which was only once). I’ve done the same thing now as I did when I was testing with urine strips in the beginning and I would always stay above 4.0 and go up to 15 on the urine strips but on the blood monitor it fluctuates between 0.3 and 0.7 with the highest lately being like 1.2. I’m staying below 20 net carbs/day and even 1,200 calories.
It’s getting past that first week that is the hardest, especially being a woman with PCOS and after I eat the craving for sweets is so strong. I know ill love it in the moment but the guilt and sluggish feeling afterwards and even the next day is not worth it but I feel SO HUNGRY that I can’t focus on anything else. It’s awful. But when I was in ketosis for 4 months straight after a month in I was eating only 700 calories some days because I just wasn’t that hungry. I want to get back to that but man it’s so hard when you’re discouraged from this stupid blood meter saying I’m barely in light ketosis.

@@suecase is your cholesterol producing any other effect in your body in terms of blood clots or cramping? I don't measure my cholesterol but experience symptoms if certain ingredients in my diet through excess quantity produce these symptoms particularly eggs or liver. I tried garlic water decoction although this may cause some form ibs (irritable bowel syndrom). I then tried nattokinase for a while, I think it slightly helped. The biggest change for me was getting more energy from a more balanced diet and not excluding foods or becoming less sensitive towards certain high protein and fat foods, through increasing zinc complex for stomach lining and protecting against stomach acid. I used to have a severe pulsation cramp on calf muscle and needed compression socks to stop me from fainting if that blood pump wasn't successful. I think those symptoms have subsided through the balanced diet. I can just share with you my story, not sure if it directly correlates, there might gaps in my understanding of these symptoms and cholesterol.

Going carnivore ............ another extreme whacky diet guaranteed to give you health problems in the long run. Humans are not carnivores but omnivores. Basically, you'll have to limit your fats to what you can tolerate without a gallbladder to store the necessary bile that's being produced. You still need to eat low carb, but may need to eat more protein (gluconeogenesis will occur, which means you'll get your energy from protein instead of carbs or fat.) You'll probably need to avoid adding fats and eating the fattiest meats. You may need to depend more on fasting between meals or possibly skipping days of eating.

I'm not sure why you would want a protein shake. I'd add more animal protein than the typical keto diet. Most people on keto are probably overly concerned about eating too much protein. If your insulin goes up and you stop losing weight, maybe consider it. Otherwise, I'd be eating more protein. In fact, I'd wonder if you're losing lean mass. You might want to look into that possibility and start doing resistance training if you are not already. Lean mass is hard to regain when you lose it. Two ways to lose it are not eating enough protein and not using your muscles.
As for fasting, nothing aggressive, especially if you're losing. Just consider eating 2-3 meals within daylight hours only, for example. You can get more aggressive if you stop losing.

Eat when you're hungry. Don't worry about calories, as they have ZERO relevance in terms of human digestion/nutrition. To further explain, calories are determined by placing a food item in a machine called a bomb calorimeter, which uses FIRE to burn that food and that is how calories are determined. Humans don't create/use fire in their bodies anywhere, not their stomachs, for anything. Humans use chemicals such as stomach acid and enzymes to break down food to its smallest parts = carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Please don't worry about calories. Eat when you're hungry.

I find most videos on keto just say how great it is to eat more fat and no one says anything about the levels of fat if there is a lot of weight to lose. How many times a week should I have fatty meat or fatty fish for example? What about fat bombs? Should I be happy simply with reducing carbs or should I be careful about fat as well and if so to what degree? Thanks!

I can only speak for myself Sarit but initially I added a good desert spoon of coconut oil to black coffee a few times per day ...ate more fatty types of meat and fish ....fried eggs (minim 3) and also ate quite a bit of full fat cheese when a snack was needed......I used ketostick to check urine after about 3 days and found I was in ketosis.
The next step after being in ketosis for about 3 weeks checking every day I stopped using the coconut oil so my body was then burning my fat instead of the added fat and I now have one meal per day ...steak and salad or salmon with cauliflower cheese are favourites.....no snacks at all and never hungry.
I had 32kgs to lose ...I have 12 to go .....as I am over 60 it is taking me longer to do ( only 7-8ilbs per month) but that's how I did it...if you are younger then it may be quicker for you
stick with it....keep well and God bless.

Hi. Fat is your Freind. Just stick to 5% carbs and drop sugar, eat protein size of your palm per day and try to limit eating to twice so you only spike insulin twice…after all it’s your fat storage hormone. Eat fat but don’t just eat it for the sake of it.
If you can fast 18h per day you should get weight off and more importantly be healthier in no time. I’ve lost 4st before but just put it back on as I was still eating tons of carbs and sugars. The whole calorie is a calorie is bad info. UA-cam Robert Lustig and you’ll love it and find it so helpful.
I have been doing 18/6 for 6 weeks no sugar and lost 2st and in past two weeks introduced clean Keto and 5 x 18/6 and 2 x 24hr fasts and in two weeks lost another 1st 7lbs and feel great. I’m now fat adapted with keto level between 3-4.2. Hunger only comes and goes and when I get to 1-2 meals I can barely eat more than 1500kcals p/d albeit calories to a great degree are not helpful.
Other key thing is exercise. Watch Dr Ekberg on this. It’s a revelation that we don’t need to be killing ourselves, mostly just raise heart rate to c60-65% which is a moderate to fast walk for me. So all that weight I’ve lost is from diet and just walking an hour a day at a good pace.
Hope you enjoy and have a successful journey and it helps change your whole outlook on health. God bless you.

If it is, then keep doing what you're doing and the weight will eventually come off. If not, you have to look closer at what you're eating. Most people mention that carbs spike glucose/insulin, protein rises glucose/insulin as well, but not as much, then finally fat hardly rises glucose/insulin at all. People also say we need to meet a certain protein goal each day. But few go so far as to say there is a protein limit. Even in this video, he says not to be afraid to eat enough protein. But he also stresses LOW CARB HIGH FAT for ketosis without any discussion of why the need for high fat.

I used to suffer with ovarian cysts. Over the years i found that there are certain things we must remove from our lives. Look at all of your personal items such as lotion, shampoo, soap, everything. If any of them contain -parabens (they come in many forms: methylparaben, propylparaben, etc, paraben is the last part), you need to find an item that does NOT and substitute. -parabens are cheap preservatives which act as estrogens. Ovarian cysts are a symptom of estrogen dominance, you DON'T need or want any external estrogen. Same goes for estrogenic foods - soy is a huge one. Caffeine is a no, sugars/carbs are a no (which is one reason why keto/carnivore helps this issue).
I supplement with iodine and selenium daily. I can't advise you how to supplement with this. I'd suggest finding someone who can. But iodine and cofactor selenium are very important for proper functioning of the ovaries and other organs.
Linked with iodine, reduce your exposure to chlorine, fluoride and bromine. They are enemies of iodine and will displace it.
You may have a lot of healing to do, which may be why you're not releasing excess body fat yet. Resource - videos from carnivore women.

    • @w1975b
      @w1975b 2 роки тому

Something else about the iodine. Dr. Jorge Flechas spoke of a patient with severe blood sugar levels and was on insulin. He advised her to take iodine (don't know dose) and she started having low blood sugar episodes. She told him and he said "reduce the insulin until you don't have low blood sugar, keep taking the iodine". Some time later she went for checkup, he asked how much insulin she was taking. "None", he was shocked. She said, "you told me to keep reducing insulin until I didn't have low blood sugar". The iodine helped her insulin sensitivity come back.
Personally, if I take too much magnesium and/or vitamin E, I will experience low blood sugar tremors. I hardly ever have them anymore. But that is a function of those nutrients, also. They help lower blood sugar.

I couldn't find a single reason of why I still feel hungry some weeks. I'll be honest and say that this is probably your worst video.
Take protein for example.... I used to be 103kg or 226lb and you say I need 82.4g of protein to avoid nutrition deficiency but even before I started Keto, 18 months ago, I would eat substantially less than 82.4g of protein but never a blood test or any other tests said I was in any way protein deficient ... it's very hard to eat that amount of protein. I believe the right amount is related to lean body weight rather than full body mass weight, at least it makes sense to me. Say I was 103kg of body mass weight but 23kg was fat (round numbers) then my lean weight would have been 80kg so my protein requirements would have been 64g which is more or less the amount I used to eat daily. Now my current weight is 85kg and I'm 1.83m or 6', I guess my lean body weight is about 70kg and my daily protein consumption is still about 65g.
So I guess you would consider all vegans are protein deficient.
Another point here, organic eggs, grass fed beef are great but expensive and here in the UK, grass fed beef is not easy to find.... I do what I can, eat organic eggs when I find them but 1/2 dozen cost nearly as much as a dozen of the free range eggs. I very occasionally eat grass fed beef, maybe twice in the last 18 months. I hope you are not suggesting that dirty keto doesn't work because I think that would be wrong.... I haven't done a clean Keto exactly and I suspect most people don't either and yet I have achieved good results.
By the way, I do get into deep ketosis and when fasting I get into very deep ketosis .... 7.9 mmol on one occasion which was close to ketoacidosis.
While fasting I feel hungry when I'm getting close to my normal feeding time so if I'm fasting through lunchtime then around 1:30pm I feel hungry for 20 or 30 minutes which is normal.

So this is keto. I’m not doing that as I lose way to much weight on it. I’m low carbing so eating under 130g of carbs a day and it’s working for me as I’ve no gallbladder and have to watch the ratios of fat and proteins.
Plus human nature for comfort eating and relearnIng that we don’t have to is damn hard to do. I make sure I’ve got something in my hands that isn’t food. So I took up knitting which helped me a lot. Plus walking even if it’s in the house as it’s a big house 😂.
Plus a lot of GPs and nurses don’t agree with keto or low carb and actively try to scare the crap out of you with heart attacks, high cholesterol etc. My nurse talks to me like a child when I tell her I’m low carbing and freaks on the amounts I eat daily. The trouble with 'eating enough fat' is, I'm only 5 foot tall on a good day, actually slightly below that. Because of other health issues, I'm pretty sedentary and my job requires me to sit at a desk all day long. If I add fat to a keto diet, I WON'T LOSE WEIGHT AT ALL. I'm now eating a combination of KetoChow (1/4 scoop) and Orgain (pea protein one scoop instead of 2) to get a full protein profile as well as the minerals in KC dissolved in 20 oz of water/ice as breakfast and lunch, sipped thruout the day with a meat only dinner and I'm slowly losing even though the calorie count for the day is well under 1000. If I added the amount of fat Ketochow talks about (1/2 stick butter!!!) to every shake I'd GAIN weight, and probably also have diarrhea because of prior gall bladder surgery. In fact, I've been looking at the videos of the KetoChow business owners dating back several years and compared to now and they don't look healthy to me - they look bloated with a lot of subcutaneous fat; you would think someone in ketosis for years would have chiseled cheekbones and jawlines.... After several years of being on their own product, touting the wonders of fat intake along with a ketogenic style of eating, they don't look that good and I have to wonder what their arteries look like. It's not only about the lab results, there are other issues we may not know about until later in life... Yes I know sugar plus fat is what causes heart disease but really? Eating butter, heavy cream, oil plus 'snacks' that involve pork rinds, etc? Yowser. Nope. Nope, nope.

I'm sorry to make a negative comment on an otherwise good video, but language matters and we're now at the point where enough is enough and these small adjustments to language can't be allowed to slide. I was really disappointed to hear a doctor using the word gender instead of sex. But given that the NHS (allegedly) appear to think it's ok to tell the police a woman wasn't raped in hospital because there were no men on the ward, when there was a trans identified man admitted, let's all crack on with being 'inclusive' at the expense of women. What does it matter to erode women's rights further by pretending men can be women and using terms like gender instead of sex, or pregnant people instead of woman? I'm sure the comment was well intentioned and no doubt an attempt to be 'inclusive'. I'm all for kindness but not when it means half the population are expected to give up their right to safety and single sex spaces. When you use words like gender instead of sex, it's not a passive act. What you're actually doing is contributing to an ideology that is eroding the rights of women and girls. Other than that, great Keto info.
