44.5 mph down Aberystwyth mountain road. 42.6 mph down Bathwick hill, though what made that scary was unpredictable drivers more than anything. I did that in the evening when the road was quiet as a truck almost killed me pulling out when I was doing 38 down the hill. On a MTB both times as I hadn't got my road bike yet. I've done 38 fairly uneventfully on an almost flat gradual down with a tail wind and lots of pedaling. It wasn't that scary being a straight main road. I would have been fine going faster but I ran out of leg power and gearing.
You should check all of the bearings in that bike often. And, upgrade them if possible. It's a Motorbike now. It was never made to go that fast for that long.

Actually, the suspension will provide better traction, more comfort, and a MORE predictable ride. With that added shock absorption, your bike can actually eat up more of the bumps on the road, leading to less time the wheels are in the air. Please, learn your bike stuff before you comment on bike stuff.

Since I haven't been writing on any mountains for some years now. I wonder how that would be with my original Gary Fisher? I might also want to look into the other drive mechanism. That allows the use of your rear derailer gears. What's that thing called a, Shaq Jack, Jack Shaq, Jack strap? I mean an old, 10-21 speed cyclist and motorcyclist. Needs more than, an automatic transmission. Well that's it! I've got to get to this before springtime. That'll keep my blood pumping.
You need something to protect your leg from that primary drive chain. If that chain snaps or your pants get caught in it, you're gonna be a whole world of hurt. Enclose it,

+tay sanders, I got an R6 for $2.2k with upgrades. It's as quicker than a Ferrari 458. I wanted something a bit better than my bicycle so I looked into carbon fiber but the lighter the bike is the scarier it feels on the road. With motorcycles you really do nothing and go places.
+tay sanders, ebay, craigslist, ad in a paper, word of mouth but you have to make sure you have the title and register it at the DMV so it's yours otherwise it's not legal and could cost a lot to title search
Awesome build and video. I had a brand new 2 stroke engine and brand new bicycle build and its top speed was around 38 mph (Using a 32 or 36 teeth sprocket). After reaching over 1100 mileage, according to my speedometer \ odometer, the rear wheel gave out (The side cap on the rear hub where the ball bearings is pressing against it just torn the side cap out (due to metal fatigue, I assume) and out flew out some of the ball bearings). Luckily for me I was able to manage to control my motorized bike and slowly stop my motorize bike without losing control because I was going under 25 mph at that time. What some people may not be aware of is that all bicycle wheels or the hub get worn out from all that mileage it accumulate throughout time, the hub take a toll and when it does, a piece of metal (ball bearing cage or whatever) inside the hub breaks loose, it locks up the ball bearings in the hub of the wheel (I believe that's how it was engineered for), preventing the wheel from moving, that has happen to me before on two different occasion, peddling. Now when you add a motorize gas engine (Which bicycle aren't never meant for a gas powered engine to be placed on and used for) the torque of the engine is strong enough to tear a metal piece that supposedly lock the hub or jam the ball bearings from spinning when it exceed its life expectancy or mileages sort to speak. This is why I always used a speedometer \ odometer to let me know when to change wheels and put brand new ones. When I watch videos of people exceeding more than 25 mph on their motorized bicycle, I sometime cringe 😬😖😓😰 thinking that those wheel or hub will fail someday, they will end up losing control, getting to an accident and \ or injured 🤕. I hope people reading this can learn and take the necessary steps to prevent an accident or injury from happening.
Bob Most bike rims are typically weak as they weren’t designed for high speeds. The spokes can easily break when under decent pressure, this happens a lot on motorized bikes.
@@djasewhole7734 really depends on what bike. i mean a DH bike's wheels are pretty tough, some of the high end DH bikes have rims designed after dirt bikes. unless you were thinking of road bikes or cheap bikes.

It depends on a few variables - what the rim is made of, how it's constructed, etc. Aluminum alloy double or triple wall rims would be more than up to the task. Old school steel rims with at least 12 gauge spokes would be fine too. Tires on the other hand might be the weaker link than the rims.
The braking is really really scary ! I'm always impressed ho people get engines on their bikes and no one thinks of getting proper disc brakes !! Good vid, though !
Properly adjusted rim brakes are WAY stronger than people believe, In dry situations they can even match disc brakes, Issue is in motorized bikes they gotta get replaced every 2 months or so, But as long as they're well adjusted they should be fine.
@@Jenoxen Rim brakes work very well as long as they're used with allow rims with a good machined edge (they're about useless on steel wheels). Overall though, i like disc brakes using 203mm rotors front and rear. They're unaffected by rain, mud, dirt, etc and provide stopping power that rivals some of the best rim brakes.
@@williamsporing1500william I run a 1952 red line Bendix rear coaster hub break and after 8yrs on a 66cc 2 stroke bike it's only been serviced twice , 1st I installed a heavy gauge 26"rim and 12 gauge spokes and greased assembly, original bearings were flawless just opened it up the other day and it's still in fine working order with original bearings . It was from my dad's bike he had it since new .The thing to do he said was when reassembling fill the hub completely full of high temp wheel bearing grease ... It works and every spring I open it up enough to drain into it LUCAS HUB LUBE. That is super sticky and keeps heavily used low maintained bearings we lubed . 1952 BENDIX RED LINE coaster hub 72yrs with original bearings. The company's used to make quality Parts. I've ridden that hub down a hill over 50+ and it still stopped and stops good every time. I'm 60 and no rim clamp breaks for Old School me.. ride safe PEACE.
49cc requires no insurance or license on 1 and 2 lane state routes. Not savvy on 4 lane [interstate] requirements. 50cc and over, needs ins and license. Save the headaches and get a 49cc mo-ped. Factory built, tested, and daily tweaking worry free. 2:12-Fixed gearing a legal requirement for use on state routes. Of course if you are making a trail bike, not to be taken on state routes, gear changing is a must have.
THAT'S LEGIT! Strong work! I've been messin' around with these 2 strokes for too long. 4 stroke is my next build. Even though I've hit 46+mph with my 2 stroke, on 24" wheels and a 65 year frame, I want to go a little more classic. The HF doesn't have that look I'm looking for though. Mario Salinas That depends if it’s either classified as a moped or a motorcycle. Any 2 wheeled vehicle with a large enough engine that has more than 6HP (more or less that, I’m not sure) can drive on a highway so long as you have a motorcycle license and put all the safety features that motorbikes would typically have. If you’re less than that then you can’t because it would be classified as a scooter.

Cheapest entry into decent power is the YD100 2 stroke kit on Amazon for $200. Zeda Firestorm YD100. These bigger harbor freight engine kits are expensive and can be hard to get by the cops because of their size.
2-stroke... Carry oil with you to refuel with at the gas station. 2 strokes are faster. Easy to install. 4-stroke... Easier to refuel. Try not to use ethanol gas. More torque. Climbs hills better. Slower. Quieter though.
@@brianmccann666 2 strokes aren't slower necessarily it all depends on the fuel mixture and sprocket size, as far as the easier modifications go.. The only thing you have to worry about when installing 4strokes is completely overhauling your pedal drivetrain to let your motor have the clearance it needs. 2strokes are easier to fix and have less of a learning curve. If you're going to go with 2 strokes here is an easy way to know how much oil to put in your tank: Say gas is 2.65 for 93 grade and I'm at the gas station. After break-in, which I use 8oz oil for first tank, 6 for the next then 4.5oz for the next tank (not gallon), my bike likes a good 3.5oz oil per gallon. My tank holds about .45 gallons. So if I'm gonna put in 50 cent, which is half a tank for my 2 liter gas tank, I divide 2.65 by 5.3, that gives me .5, or 50 cent.. Now I divide 3.5 by the same amount, 5.3, which gives me roughly .7 oz oil. I first shut off the petcock valve, then I just pour the of the oil in, fill up half the gas I'm putting in there, then pour the rest of the oil in and pump the rest of the gas. After that, I close the tank and lift my bike and shake it all about front and back side to side for 10 seconds and open the petcock and prime the carb. Hope this helps
It looks like he got a partslist for a shifter kit then went and assembled his own beefier version of it. He does a quick walk through of the drivetrain before the ride. The motor has a 12t centr. clutch that drives a 30t sprocket on a jackshaft mounted with pillar blocks/pillow bushings. On the other side of the jackshaft is a sprocket with an unspecified number of teeth that drives a 38t sprocket on a freewheel with a 22t sprocket as his final drive gear for the 7 speed cassette/freewheel. Other parts included: aftermarket freewheel for the pedal side, aftermarket intake manifold and carburetor, aftermarket exhaust, and higher grade fuel line. I know this is a bit old but I hope it helps
I noticed that your right hand handles the throttle and shifting with 2 separate levers. Does this mean you brake the front and rear brakes with just your left hand? How did you get both brakes to work with one lever?
There is a double brake lever for sale on amazon for like $17. It combines both bike brakes into one lever, and you can adjust each cable to a different tension to make it 60%/40% braking.
Who did you buy your transmission parts and gearing from can you attach link. Have the predator motor and have been looking up parts it seems like it's going to cost close to about three hundred bucks and I won't have the transmission you have with all those gears looks awesome fast I like it I do 35 on my 49cc with the 58 tooth sprocket

the 208cc engine i have makes peek power at 3000rpm "30lb-ft" so with a similar gearing it would get 35-40mph, but with 30lb-ft i can probably use higher gears.

I need your help. I have a build with the monster 90 and SBP shift kit on a GT2A frame but I can't keep the final drive / multispeed chain from going crazy. Was that a tensioner down on your freewheel sprocket? And a difference I noticed was I have a standard 11T clutch facing in. Should I face it out? Please help if you can

Mark Ci I'll have to post pictures or a video. Mines quite the Frankenstein. Just installed a BB chain guide. It stops jumping but it's not free from binding. I can hear it grabbing still
Benjamin Bodell Make sure your derailleur is properly indexed (adjusted), the final driver gear centered on the cassette, and definitely make sure that the chain is not rubbing on the guide or anything else near the chains. It certainly helps to have a wide BB cartridge with a key slot so you can use SBP's freewheel adapter. That will allow you to center things up so chains run smooth.
You could still pedal if you had the wide pedal crank set installed, but with the weight of that engine you'd probably lose 5lbs before you got home pedaling that thing 😂

I want to do this on a trike bicycle that way the engine will mount to the back axle plus with three wheels I can park it without the bike falling over and also I don’t have to cram the engine in the middle of the bike and have the engine burning my legs ....anyways Still a good idea I bet it gets good gas mileage also

Not really. I rode many different minibikes with this type of clutch in the 1960's and, with it facing out, WHEN it blows up (not if) the clutch shoes and springs will spray out all over the place at high velocity like shrapnel. With it facing in at least the direction of the shrapnel is contained away from your leg. Ask me how I know. I have had 4 clutches detonate on me when I was a kid and, after the first one, I put my clutch on my motor facing the other way and had no injuries since.

No. Those cantilever brakes will never match disc brake performance in any conditions.
I use a rear coaster brake, but my bike only goes 30, and it’s fine lol

I have adult Shwinn trike with a 79cc motor and thinking about doing 50 MPH is just insane.
Trikes are extremely dangerous at high speeds... thats why they made the reverse trike which is very stable...
I haven't seen anyone else with lever throttle. With my kit, the throttle tube broke during assembly so i just used a brake lever

@@heavystarch100 lol I’m building mine into a full on motorcycle with pedals. Getting a duel disk ghetto bike front end , ghetto bike hubs and 10 gauge spokes laced to the felt loops. Should be a beast when it’s ready.

That depends if it’s either classified as a moped or a motorcycle. Any 2 wheeled vehicle with a large enough engine that has more than 6HP (more or less that, I’m not sure) can drive on a highway so long as you have a motorcycle license and put all the safety features that motorbikes would typically have. If you’re less than that then you can’t because it would be classified as a scooter.

In NC it needs to be 50cc or less to be a moped, and it still needs to be registered and insured.
Would I be better off getting one of these 4 strokes than a 2 stroke then because I plan on driving a motorcycle bicycle for a good bit till I fix my truck?
A four stroke will also be cheaper in the long run because they are more reliable, are more efficient, and they dont break down on you quite as often.
Cheapest entry into decent power is the YD100 2 stroke kit on Amazon for $200. Zeda Firestorm YD100. These bigger harbor freight engine kits are expensive and can be hard to get by the cops because of their size.
2-stroke... Carry oil with you to refuel with at the gas station. 2 strokes are faster. Easy to install.
4-stroke... Easier to refuel. Try not to use ethanol gas. More torque. Climbs hills better. Slower. Quieter though.
@@brianmccann666 2 strokes aren't slower necessarily it all depends on the fuel mixture and sprocket size, as far as the easier modifications go..
The only thing you have to worry about when installing 4strokes is completely overhauling your pedal drivetrain to let your motor have the clearance it needs. 2strokes are easier to fix and have less of a learning curve.
If you're going to go with 2 strokes here is an easy way to know how much oil to put in your tank:
Say gas is 2.65 for 93 grade and I'm at the gas station. After break-in, which I use 8oz oil for first tank, 6 for the next then 4.5oz for the next tank (not gallon), my bike likes a good 3.5oz oil per gallon.
My tank holds about .45 gallons. So if I'm gonna put in 50 cent, which is half a tank for my 2 liter gas tank, I divide 2.65 by 5.3, that gives me .5, or 50 cent.. Now I divide 3.5 by the same amount, 5.3, which gives me roughly .7 oz oil. I first shut off the petcock valve, then I just pour the of the oil in, fill up half the gas I'm putting in there, then pour the rest of the oil in and pump the rest of the gas. After that, I close the tank and lift my bike and shake it all about front and back side to side for 10 seconds and open the petcock and prime the carb. Hope this helps

It looks like he got a partslist for a shifter kit then went and assembled his own beefier version of it. He does a quick walk through of the drivetrain before the ride.
The motor has a 12t centr. clutch that drives a 30t sprocket on a jackshaft mounted with pillar blocks/pillow bushings. On the other side of the jackshaft is a sprocket with an unspecified number of teeth that drives a 38t sprocket on a freewheel with a 22t sprocket as his final drive gear for the 7 speed cassette/freewheel. Other parts included: aftermarket freewheel for the pedal side, aftermarket intake manifold and carburetor, aftermarket exhaust, and higher grade fuel line. I know this is a bit old but I hope it helps

I noticed that your right hand handles the throttle and shifting with 2 separate levers. Does this mean you brake the front and rear brakes with just your left hand? How did you get both brakes to work with one lever?
There is a double brake lever for sale on amazon for like $17. It combines both bike brakes into one lever, and you can adjust each cable to a different tension to make it 60%/40% braking.

Have the predator motor and have been looking up parts it seems like it's going to cost close to about three hundred bucks and I won't have the transmission you have with all those gears looks awesome fast I like it I do 35 on my 49cc with the 58 tooth sprocket

the 208cc engine i have makes peek power at 3000rpm "30lb-ft" so with a similar gearing it would get 35-40mph, but with 30lb-ft i can probably use higher gears.

I need your help. I have a build with the monster 90 and SBP shift kit on a GT2A frame but I can't keep the final drive / multispeed chain from going crazy. Was that a tensioner down on your freewheel sprocket? And a difference I noticed was I have a standard 11T clutch facing in. Should I face it out? Please help if you can

Mark Ci I'll have to post pictures or a video. Mines quite the Frankenstein. Just installed a BB chain guide. It stops jumping but it's not free from binding. I can hear it grabbing still
Benjamin Bodell Make sure your derailleur is properly indexed (adjusted), the final driver gear centered on the cassette, and definitely make sure that the chain is not rubbing on the guide or anything else near the chains. It certainly helps to have a wide BB cartridge with a key slot so you can use SBP's freewheel adapter. That will allow you to center things up so chains run smooth.

H. Ichi it is a centrifugally engaged automatic clutch. Just pull the throttle and go! His left lever is likely a dual brake lever.

Not really. I rode many different minibikes with this type of clutch in the 1960's and, with it facing out, WHEN it blows up (not if) the clutch shoes and springs will spray out all over the place at high velocity like shrapnel. With it facing in at least the direction of the shrapnel is contained away from your leg. Ask me how I know. I have had 4 clutches detonate on me when I was a kid and, after the first one, I put my clutch on my motor facing the other way and had no injuries since.
