    ITT: lewd comments about my sexy legs.
    For real though, it was brought to my attention that the audio in some spots are a little quiet, which must have been an error I made in editing. And after some nice advice from an accomplished armorer friend, I have a new idea of how tackle the leg harness and eliminate the gaps entirely. I'll leave this video up because it still seems sound to me in my methods, and not everyone is as bothered by the audio problems, but I'll also make a follow up video once I've figured out a new setup for the legs.
    Thanks for sticking with me and helping the channel hit over 1000 subscribers, I hope you are learning as much as I am!

    Great video! I like the end result, and goes well with your mid 14th century harness. I would advise scripting your videos, and recording them in audition or audacity. Then move the audio files to movie maker or after effects so that you can normalise the volume. I've just learned this in the past few videos and really helped. Looking forward to seeing what you do next!

    3:23 how do you deal with this gap? or do you just live with it?, as I noticed looking at effigies that articulation in the poleyn doesn't appear until the 70's ish, so how was this issue dealt with?

    • @LivingManuscript
      @LivingManuscript  6 років тому +4

      Dr Hanland I ended up using much thicker leather pieces to hold all the parts together, which did a decent job of preventing the gap. But after this video was published, an armorer friend of mine gave me a suggestion where on the bottom and top of the cuisse and greaves, respectively, I add some dished "lobes" that act as a sort of bridge between the three parts. A little like some kind of proto-articulatuon. I'll definitely be giving it a shot in the future, since it's kind of hard to explain otherwise.

    Do you have any thoughts on how the legs at 4:00 might work? If it were just the greaves I could picture them being standalone, but it looks like there are proooooobably separate knee cops, too? Yours were strapped to the cuisses so they overall had support from your waist, right, but I don't see any higher straps on that picture?
    Anyway, great video, really nice legs! ...I mean the metal ones, of course☆!

    • @LivingManuscript
      @LivingManuscript  6 років тому +1

      Suuure, the metal ones ;)
      It looks to me like the guy in the effigy is wearing some kind of gambesoid cuisse, which I imagine the knee cops are attached to, and then the greaves attached to that similarly to how I have my setup. That's just my interpretation, though, so take that as you will. I hope this helps!

    Thank you for the links. Have you joined the united league of armourers on facebook or watched Greenleaf workshop's videos? Both could be a great help for you.

      @LivingManuscript  6 років тому +2

      Sure thing! And I agree, the ULA and Greenleaf workshops have both been very helpful for me, sometimes I just have trouble remembering the information I've learned when I'm actually building the pieces. A bit of a bane, really haha.

    Don't forget to choose a weight catagory to fight in. 60-100kg is rogue catagory. 100-140kg is duel spec rogue warrior. 140-180kg is warrior. 180-220kg is duel spec giant warrior. And 220+kg is giant catagory. So you need to choose and go in to your weight catagory first and then maintain that weight and work on improving yourself in that catagory.

    I don't have any anvils or specialist tools, so wish me luck. I'm not a knight, so I can get away with a much rougher finish. I just hope I can get the shapes close enough to work.

      Alright, thanks. Maybe also put that in the video description
      Edit: unrelated question: Where do you get your sheet metal? Just order it online or check out some scrapyards? Because the scrapyard near me doesn't have any sheet metal that isn't aluminium.

    • @LivingManuscript
      @LivingManuscript  6 років тому

      Done!
      I get my metal from a local machine shop that sells big sheets of it. Though if that's not an option, there are some online places to get it like www.speedymetals.com/ and www.onlinemetals.com/. They can get expensive because of the shipping costs though, but sometimes offer metals that I can't get from the machine shop.
