Alec Steele Blacksmith 2022 - Розваги
Please please please, we need an old school 15 part project of Alec building a full suit of armor. I miss that format so
Agree. But i want 15 parts just on the sabaton.
Don't you mean 15 parts on each individual part of the armor and 20 episodes of putting it together?
Don't forget the 15-part prequel: taking the body measurements
The 100 part medieval armor set
Ok Alec, we hit 225 comments here. This is now mandatory. New UA-cam rule regarding your channel lol
How long do you think it will take Alec to start a damascus suit of armour? The gauntlets would look nuts.
my g o d
all the choices of patterns
anything he chooses would be 12/10 > -Chefs- Blacksmiths Kiss
Damascus you say. Now that would be something 👍
I would look forward to seeing that!
then i wish alec a lot of good luck the work it takes to do a full Damascus set of armor
How would one make sheet Damascus, is that possible?
Genuine question. I'm used to Alec making welded billets of differing metals to produce blades and stuff, would it be possible to scale that up to make Damascus sheets?
I'm a retired silversmith and once had the privilege of working with the armorers in theTower Of London (UK). I was amazed to see them do everything I did with soft pliable silver and gold only in hard steel. These guys are amazing craftsmen.
We've been asking since you were in your first little shop for this and now it's here! Awesomeness. I dont think ive ever seen Alec happier than he was to be fitted for armor😂
ive been asking him to make a Damascus buckler shield for a few years but i guess a suit of armor will do
This looks awesome. You should collaborate with Todd's Workshop, he does some incredible historical work!
he would really get good understanding of the historical details of a well fitted suit of armor if he does, hate to see him accidentally make some wall hanger nonsense.
Todd would probably shoot it with arrows and bolts, much to alec's horror as he sees his work being tested and destroyed😂
@@crisis53142 Don't worry, Alec won't get any bad armour with Lancaster Armoury in control. They make historically authentic reproductions to a very high standard.
Ian LaSpina (aka Knyght Errant) also has incredible videos for anyone wanting to learn about why historical armor was made and shaped the way it was. His channel would be an amazing source of information if Alec decides to make more armor
It's cool to see that Alec is paying so much attention to the techniques and strikes. I like to see when he tries new stuff and experimenting but there is something different when you see him so focused on every single move and hammer strike.
I would love to see a series where you make a complete set of armor weapons and horse tack. It would be a lot of work and a long series but it would be an awesome journey. Alec, on a horse in a full suit of armor he made would be an epic finish.
Nice work, getting the shape and fit of armour right is such a subtle skill. The wrong curve in the wrong place can be painful to wear or use for any length of time. Armour pinch really hurts!
i love the fact alec enjoys trying new skills, a sign of someone who enjoys there craft 👍
@@Gecko88 joys of auto correct , its only any good if it knows what you want to type, not what it thinks
I missed curious learning-something-new Alec! Also, the guy from Lancaster Armoury sounds like a super chill guy, loved this video
Yea he's really knowledgeable and was taught by one of the most respected armourers in the reenactment circuit. Most people I know have a Lancaster armouries sword from donkeys years ago.
Love the videos where Alec learns something. It’s a good reminder that even a master craftsman can learn a new skill.
Didn't know they made some stuff for Kevin Hicks "the history squad". Incredible work these guys are doing.
Matt's got a very 14th century vibe about him. I can see why he ended up as an armourer.
Jamie! Those shots of both Matt and Alec hammering? Just glorious!
I've been waiting for the day when Alec starts making armour. I hope he makes more!
I am nowhere near the level of a professional armorer at working with sheat, but I have dabbled in dishing, raising, and planishing when making ladles and the basic concepts still apply.
Don’t they just look like the cutest Orcs of Saruman making armour?
Wow I think armor is like the most requested thing for this channel and here we are!
"Have I made life more difficult?"
- "You've made life fun."
Best possible answer.
i love people who are so enthusiastic about there craft and sharing their process with us
The best part is Alec getting use out of tools he's barely or never used.
So glad you’re continuing to dip your toe into armor. I’ve wondered for awhile watching your maximum effort swords and daggers what a suit of armor produced by you through a similar multi-part series would wind up looking like.
Alec, you can make as many of these armouring videos as you like. I'll watch them all.
I enjoyed this episode featuring an area artisan. It's nice to see Alec learn new skills and feature different types of forging work.
I’ve been dying for an Alec Steele video! Finally!
YES!! This is so exciting, Alec! Cant wait to see the final product.
I❤ making armor! Armor is a combination of sculpture, jewelry and art. Also I ❤ your videos, so today is a best day ever!
that's funny, I was wondering "what about Alec next project being making a piece of armor ?" And boom you're making a piece of armor !
finally medieval stuff
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WANTING FOR YEARS!!! YES!
Last video I said "do a full suit of armour" and your literally doing this!! Epic vid!!!
Cool when other professionals, come to your workshop and compliment your tools 😌
Thank you Alec for showing The Expert Craftsmanship of Armor making so Satisfying to see👌👌
Pretty sick how you’re showing all the different forging processes for a bunch of products! Keep it up sir.
Extremely cool. Been waiting for a serious armour-making video!!
Sweet! Been wanting to see you make a breastplate for years. Very cool to see how it's done.
Finally he's dipping into making armor! Instead of just weapons
I would love to see Alec in full armor. Which he made himself. He already has the glove. 😜
Great video, looking forward to part 2 and a completed blued 14th century globular breastplate complete with stop rib! It would be fabulous if Alec could commission a full harness or at the very least a houndskull bassinet! Matt and team well done on a very entertaining and educational video, showcased with great interaction, delivery, knowledge and skill from Alec and his production team. Made me proud!
Alec! I would LOVE to see you head to Germany sometime and do a tour of Paiste's Gong making factory. Maybe even take one of their Gong making classes too. I think that would be incredibly interesting to see :)
finally armour! please continue this side of the craft Alec. hanging to see more!
I've been waiting so long to see you forge a suit of armor! 😆👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
As a practice project for experimenting with these techniques, I say Alec should make a giant-sized novelty ladle.
I love watching proper smiths work
I beg You Alec please do a series where You make a set of armour, since I’ve started watching You I’ve been waiting for that
I LOOOVE the medieval style content
Alec, to make a suit of armour could easily be 20 episodes.
Blacksmithing level 100 achieved
I love how they enjoyed your shop and tools!
Awesome lot of fellow metal workers there, Alec! This should be a great series!
Fascinating work and shows how skilled people were hundreds of years ago.
the fact that dudes had to make a nice steel billet and hammer it out by hand even with a team of 4 guys would take so much work to make a breastplate the real way instead of cutting it out a sheet i could only imagine how many hours that would take lol
Quite probably one of my fav videos you have done. Just great.
Years waiting for Alec making armor 🤪 (sabatons doesn't count)... That was great!
You need to make a giant display case or area where you can keep adding to everything you’ve recreated
Its funny youre doing this because ive been watching this other guy in the Ukraine that builds armor like this. They make it look so easy, but its soooo much fun to watch. Also very cool to see the end product. I'd love to try and do this one day. Great video fellas
Very cool to see this process. awaiting more.
exciting to see you making some armor! can't wait to see the finished product!
Hey! This is the content I really love. Armour making!
Man, you're an inspiration... I need to try more new things.
Well done Alec and visitors! 👍😁
Oh Yeah!!! Thanks Alec!!!
This looks so much fun!
How did they get sheet in the medieval period? I mean, they had to have it to make the armor, obviously, but they couldn't just buy it off the shelf like we do today.
So, were there blacksmiths who specialized in making sheet? Was it just part of the armorer's process; the first step, as it were? Was it something the apprentices did before passing it to the journeymen and masters?
@Alec Steel YES! Multi part armor building!
Yeah I’m gonna need 70 episodes of this
Armour yes ive been waiting for this
Yes please! I want MOAR!
I figured you'd get round to being an armorer at some point their lad.. Cheers 👍
Blacksmiths don't have tinnitus...
...they have elevenitus! 😁
(Thank you, I'm here all day)
after all these years, alec finally makes armor, thats so nice
It’s weird that you made this video, because just 5 days ago, I started watching mid evil armor making videos.
Great video with some great guys. Looked like a lot of fun. Careful Alec. You will get hooked, I hope 🤞
I love that you are looking into armour!! So, sick!
WOW, now your talking, great video and loved your interest in one of my favorite areas building Mideval armor and hand crafted. A very interesting subject to me. I could feel your explosive thrill when you were hammering the sheat steel of the body of I guess your new armor. Thanks for the exciting video. Love you much. Afriend.
An armor series would be awesome!
Jamie's costume was exactly as expected.
Would absolutely love to see the rest of this build
Alec surprised that tools he did are useful hahhaahhaha
Oh Dear! Please more of this!
Here comes Jamie with the Weener Wagon cap.
Very glad to see some armor here :)
Love the Pilgrim badges. LOL
very cool. cant wait to see more!!!
Very cool!
Yay! Armor!
Try 14
You should make a matching set of Chinese butterfly swords with a scabbard
Love your vids!
Oh so that’s what King Robert meant when he said “GET ME THE BREASTPLATE STRETCHER!”
I want to know how the blacksmith did it back then especially how they sourced the metal. We’re there multiple independent smiths like did the mine refine it into ingots then a smith made sheets another make rods. Or bars ? Or did the shop do it all.
Short answer: depends.
But yeah, the bigger workshops of the late 15th century would do everything, but were at the same time internally specialized. So you had one or more guys doing only a certain thing and even the armor smiths at the end were sometimes specialized for certain armor parts. But that wasn't necessarily the rule. A lot of those armor workshops probably sourced finished sheets from some other workshop that was specialized on that and then worked with that.
Blimey Alec, you've never sounded more like you could present countryfile. "Right, I'm going to have a go!" 😂
brilliant episode, showing how good armour smiths were before modern kit
Great video Alex
wow, soo cool, love your content!!
This makes me want new kit. Great video!
Lancaster Armoury sells armour ;)
@@AlexTheHistoryGuy I know and it looks great, but I’ve been using another armourer Roman Tereshenko, for my current set and I’ve commissioned a new one from him too. Just waiting for the war in Ukraine to end. 😞
Outstanding!
Hello Alec.Iv wanted to get into metal working for along time since iv moved to a more rural area, id like to be able to make my own things. In your Opinion what would be the best type of forge set up to get started for someone with 0 experience i dont mind taking my time to learn. i would just like to know where you think i should start .
that's beyond cool
I have been waiting for this since baker Street forge!!!!!
The thing I'd like to know most, is how to you get the shape an measurements? Where do all of them come from?
