    Looking to set up that liver shot or a flush uppercut, but can't create that angle? Here are 3 examples of how to find angles in boxing, using footwork, pivots, and shifting.
    START TRAINING BOXING ONLINE►bit.ly/1FIOiju
    You never want to stand straight in front of your opponent or keep your head "in the center line." Stepping out in a 45 degree angle, or drawing your rear leg back to pivot is a great way to create an angle, dodge a punch, and find an opening for attack!

    Mike tyson used shifting a lot, to create angles it's a pretty quick and aggressive movement , and a peekaboo style staple.

    throwing hooks at angles are important to learn but his shifting is only effective if your fighting close to you opponent or in the pocket. This move should only be deployed when you've created a opposite angle with your opponent, which is very difficult that has experience fighting. 9/10 your opponent will most likely punches at angles rather then just straight forward, that why slipping and dipping are more effective against amateur or professor fighters but for a street fight with Someone with no experience, this would be perfect.

    Hey Shane I'm interested in starting mma classes but I just had a couple surgeries on my left knee. Is there a good defense against leg kicks so I won't re-injure myself? Would it be beneficial to switch to a southpaw stance (I don't know just seems like having bad leg back would protect it more)?

    • @titanmma515
      @titanmma515 9 років тому

      Aaron Carlson let sparring partners know about your injuries and they'll know not to kick you in the leg, however if youre using shinpads anyway the leg kick wont have enough impact to injure you anyway. Work on your ground game if kicking is hurting. Adapt and overcome

    In your opinion which is better wait for a counter or be the aggressor

    • @samjones5553
      @samjones5553 5 років тому

      In my opinion, I think the right answer is a mixture of both. With counters, you can quickly tire your opponent out, but you'll be taking damage as well. Being the aggressor allows you to deal out maximum damage, but are pretty open to counter and can lose stamina quickly. Find the balance between the two. Then again I'm also an amateur, so it's up too you to take my advice

  • @Australian_Jake
    @Australian_Jake 6 років тому

    I been boxing for awhile now.. and I understand that many styles are different.. especially when your at a more advanced level, which you obviously are..
    but isn't it dangerous using your lead foot to create specific angels?
    I mean if your southpaw,
    using your lead foot to get angel yourself on the right side of his body makes sense..
    but to use your lead foot to get onto his left side seems to much of a hassle + in order for you to get on the left side of his body sacrifices seconds of footwork..

    Hey shane
    Awsome work ur doing
    I just have a quick question
    When I punch, my lower back hurts, I tried doing some lower back exercises but it didnt work, is it serious? Or should I just give it some time to rest?
    Keep up ur great work👍

    • @fighttips
      @fighttips  9 років тому

      Moustafa Kamal Yeah rest it, stretch it. But make sure you're bending your knees and not over-hinging at the lower back when you punch!

    • @chrisroper5698
      @chrisroper5698 9 років тому

      Moustafa Kamal I'm not shane, but I think I can help so I'll reply anyway -
      Your pain might be caused from how you rotate your body as you punch. You can try this now: Stand up, get into your normal stance, and rotate your upper body (like you're throwing a right straight) while not moving your hips. You might feel pain/discomfort in your lower back when you do it, because rotating like this puts stress on your lower back. Now, try rotating only your hips while not twisting your upper body at all (also rotate the back foot) . If you do it right, you shouldn't feel any pain. That is more like how you should be throwing your punches. Really get your lower body and hips involved in rotating, don't just use your upper body, and you'll get more power and no pain. Hopefully that helps.
