Is There Such a Thing as Too Many Hand Knit Socks?

- Have you ever owned a pair of hand knit socks? I'd guess your answer is no. There may be some who have had the pleasure, but for the most part, hand knit socks are a luxury most people have never experienced.
I learned to knit when I was in third grade and never stopped. Well, I never completely stopped. However, I didn't knit my first pair of socks until I was over 50. That's a long time and I'm pretty sure it was because you can't buy sock yarn just anywhere, and if the big box store has any, you'll probably have to look hard to find it.
Most knitters create hats, mittens, scarves, shawls, or sweaters. The closest most people come to knitting socks is a pair of baby booties! I'm different. I knit those too, but I'm a sock knitter with a capital K.

I have a level 10 knit sock obsession and I searched up videos of peoples knit sock drawers to watch while I work on my socks. I happen to be knitting a vanilla latte sock while I watch your video. Didn’t even know you were the designer. So fun!
We've knit many of the same patterns. In fact, I have a folded copy of your Vanilla Latte copy in my knitting bag - and recognized yours from that familiar photo. Thanks for that great pattern! I counted my socks yesterday - 73 pairs that I've kept, plus many I've given as gifts. My goal in life was to have enough pairs so that when I could no longer knit for myself I wouldn't be reduced to wearing Walmart socks. Hubby says I've met my goal; but I have a stash of sock yarn, so I'm carrying on.
Oh my goodness!!! My goal is to be you!!! 🤣🥰 that is seriously amazing!! I want to make that many!
I just finished the first sock for my pair of vanilla latte socks today and I am happy have found this video
One goal is to eventually have enough hand-knit socks to have them be a regular part of my wardrobe and my partner’s as well!

I ALWAYS have at least one pair of socks on my knitting needles at all times. They don't take up much space in my purse and are perfect for sitting and chatting or for filling the time when I have to sit and wait for something.

Right now I have two pairs of socks and a sweater on the needles and am getting ready to start another pair of socks. I may be a bit mad, but I'm sure not bored!
Must learn how to knit socks this year. Every pair has a story. So neat! Two of my granddaughters have just starting knitting and what fun it would be if we all learned to knit socks.

I love to knit socks too! I am a long time knitter and have only done socks for about 3 years. My knitter friend told me it would lead to a new level of knitting addiction....so true! My first pair was on dpns and came out pretty nice. Then I bought Antje Gillingham's book on knitting 2 at a time on 2 circulars. Wow! I made about 4 pair..beautiful socks..then I left the sock world for a while to learn Fair Isle using both hands at the same time. Now I'v lost my sock mojo and I need to get it back. I just can't get the 2 at a time thing back. I am so frustrated.. So I am going to go back to square one and knit one sock at a time on 2 circulars, then move back to 2 at a time.

they are so special and very pretty. You cannot beat the warmth of wool socks. Because of chemo my feet get so cold. I have one pair of wool socks that keep on giving. Blessings to you and your land

Beautiful work! I would love to knit socks but I only have basic knitting knowledge!! I thought it was neat that several pair of socks have memories with your daughter, etc. I’m sure that makes them more special🤗 You are talented

The pink pumpkin socks are my favorite. I don't think the orange ones look like snakes at all! I think they look more like a basket weave or something. Beautiful work! I'm working on my very first knitted sock. I have knitted a headband before and a pair of mittens (rectangles sewn together) but this is my first sock. I've always been a crocheter so I didn't think I would ever learn to knit. I have dreams of being an epic sock knitter haha

Thank you! No, I don't sell my socks . . . anywhere from $10 to about $25 to $30 for the yarn and a month of so of work, not many people would pay what they're worth! However, they make wonderful gifts.
Nope, there aren't too many handknirt socks! I have enough yarn to knit up at look least 30 socks for myself and husband. I need more yarn for him though because at least 20 of them are girly colors for me.
