You heard me I had only 3 pairs at some point :) 6 pairs is enough as I said I was 5 pairs and dry so you may go up to ten pairs of socks and not to worry too much :)

I would kill for my stash of sock yarn to magically turn into a bin of perfect beautiful pairs of socks like yours! I'm knitting my third pair of socks and they get better as i get more practice with heels and gussets. First pair I made for my husband. They are like Frankenstein socks w/ crazy crooked seams but he loves them and wears them on the weekends. The pattern got lost in translation- lol. 2nd pair were just finished for myself and are kind of too big but look a little better. I just started the 3rd pair for my husband and hope they come out perfect. She says 8-15 hours of knitting... Mine are probably 30-60 hours each due to a lot of frogging and having to watch videos over and over in some spots to do heels/ gussets. I also gave a bum wrist. I don't think I could ever gift a pair cause it's too much work and you just know most people wouldn't properly care for it.

I have never knitted a heel & gusset thing. I don’t even know how to say it properly 😋 I did German Heel when I was teenager than Fish Lips Kiss Heel & for a few years now Afterthought heel. Well done!

Thank you, I was nervous from so many reasons (people expectations, comparison mode) however the feedback is great and I am happy I did something outside of my comfort zone :) Some have less some have more :) I think I am happy with my number - It means a lot that you enjoyed it

Very very nice! I just ordered one of those Bobble Off while watching your video! I have a beautiful merino wool sweater from our Ireland trip in 2017, a long one with pockets navy... with many pils ... love your accent and gorgeous sock collection. I am just now getting into sock knitting. Loved Ireland, we traveled from Shannon, to Cork to Dublin, to Mayo, Galway, Kilkenny, Waterford, Killarney, Dingle, through Tralee... oh and Trinity college and many beautiful churches where our Priest performed mass. I am relatively new to Catholic Church married my wonderful Hubby who grew up in Catholic Church and I was a Methodist :) Addicted to knitting, now sock knitting, but want to knit sweaters too. Oh I loved the sheep and the stories behind the Aran wool sweaters and pattern meanings for the men who went out on the boats, fishermen, wish to go back to Ireland one of these days. Thanks again 🤗💗🤗🍀🍀🍀

the bobble thing removal helps so much - you will see how much it will improve your sweater look. I love socks knitting as it is such a relaxing knit. You will see how quickly you will make your socks collections

Thank you for sharing your beautiful socks and how you care for them . I only have four myself as yet . My husband has two which he loves and likes to wear them in the house instead of slippers .
Is that what you do ?
I wear mine in walking boots as until I make some with a tighter fit they do not fit in my ordinary boots 🤔
I also thought that was such a clever way of folding your socks . They looked so neat 😊
I have made more socks as gifts which I know are well used.
    Love all your tips 🙏

I will definitely start trimming socks now, thank you! 😂❤️ In my house wool socks live in a basket in our living room so whenever it gets cold we can pick a pair. I`ve never counted socks but there`s plenty in my family of 5. Half the year I wear them day and night.

Susanne Eknander I think commercial socks wouldn’t be a problem & I put some from yarn dyers but I’m afraid of colour to run quicker then 😊🌻

Some nice colour combinations there 🙂
The grey print with turquoise are super nice.
I couldnt make out what you were saying quite often. Its not the irish accent, Im very used to that accent, its because you often mumble . The subtitle reader had the same problem.

What a range of colours!! I have 2 pair. The second pair I love and I can't wait to knit more. They have become my long term project. Do you keep the fluff for stuffing?

    • @Knittingilove

this was so fun to watch. I'm knitting my second pair of socks. Doing eye of partridge heel and the trickiest part to me is picking up stitches so I have alot of practice to go. also they end up too big so I need to adjust that for my next pair.

No one claimed the socks. I think hand knit socks is a great giveaway.
Anyway, thanks for the video. It's very interesting. I'm Still trying to figure out how to store the socks I make. I'll keep this in mind.
I notice you use drops fabel yarn a lot. Is it one of your go to yarns? It's not something we have in the U. S. I'll have to look into ordering it online sometime.

    • @Knittingilove
      @Knittingilove  4 роки тому +2

When I start knitting socks I used acrylic it was when I was in my teens then I watched podcasts and the only yarn I could find over here was Drops Fabel and as it is very affordable yarn I got it a lot and I got a LOT of it. I have knitted with it and I still have these socks and I still have Drops in my stash and I knit with what I have - now when I swap yarn with people I have opportunity to knit with more expensive yarns, different yarn dyers etc but as I do have socks and I feel I got the yarn I give the socks away :)

I have not braved socks yet or anything yet where gage has mattered. I'll get there eventually. Going to try hats first, wuth your tutorial. I got the gift package yesterday. AMAZINGLY GEORGOUS!! Thank you so much. Lots of surprises too!!! Hopefully I can get into my proper Instagram account, and post. I have two pages there mistakenly and don't really want both but don't know how to fix it yet. I did a post on my FB page, lol #trudyschwartzburrill.

Yay!!! You got it and that matters the most :) No pressure with socks knitting. I was in a zone to knit hats at some stage now it looks I am in socks knitting mode ... never know what will happen next :) remember Pleasure not Pressure :)
